1. Typeface Research -Sub-headings/Quotes- Here, I have researched and experimented with different typefaces that could be used for the sub-headings/ quotes in my Indie Pop/Rock (Alternative Rock) music magazine.
2. The distinctive font above is called ‘Kingthings Extortion’. This typeface is very creative and busy. The different sizes, tones and fonts of the lettering connotate originality and each letter connotates individuality. This font would work well for an alternative rock music magazine because it has alternative lettering in each letter. This font is neutral and would be liked by both genders. I gathered from my primary research that my target audience like typefaces that are distinctive and eye-catching- making this font ideal to use for the sub-headings/quotes.
3. This font is called ‘Bugebol huomenna’. This font is simple but distinctive because of the way the lettering is outlined with black but filled with white. This typeface connotates simplicity and boldness. ‘Bugebol huomenna’ would work effectively as the font for sub-headings and quotes because it is eye-catching and clear. This would appeal to both genders as it does not connotate any stereotypical masculine or feminine elements.
4. This edgy typeface is called is ‘Jailbird Jenna’. This font is clear, dark and connotates boldness, simplicity, style and a sense of ‘rock’. This font would appeal to both genders if it was used for sub-headings and quotes. Also, it would stand out on the page and amongst other typefaces. So it could be ideal to use.
5. This typeface is called ‘Mamma Gamma’. It is very informal and casual so it would be ideal for my young alternative rock magazines audience. If this font was used for the sub-headings & quotes, it would blend in with the text around it because it shares similar characteristics with the main text typefaces but it would still stand-out and grab the audiences attention. This font connotates simplicity, in formalism, youth and style so it would appeal to both genders of my target audience.
