2. The Horrorville magazine is a more modern
version of past horror magazines such as fangoria.
However within this magazine front cover there
are a few conventions that are displaced and
reverted however they work in favor of the
narrative.
3. The first thing that I noticed is that looking
at the Mast head it isn't being overlayed by
the main image. However the main image is
behind the Mast head, due to this it adds
mystery and an unsettling atmosphere
towards potential buyers who walk past
and see Pennywise hidden in the
backgrounds covered in darkness making
direct address such is his role within the
movie staying hidden while being the cause
the disrupt in the equilibrium forcing their
to a new equilibrium at the end of the film.
4. Furthermore The general color scheme of the magazine is green black and white
however the Mast head has the word Horror in the color red symbolizing the genre's
narrative. Green black and gray have connotations of death and sickness also lack of
life. By using this color scheme it reestablishes and allows the audience to have some
level of awareness of the synergetic connotations within the magazines giving it a
tonal difference from that of regular magazines.
5. The cover stories are placed at the bottom as a row expanding from one
side to the other. Within these cover stories there are also images that
seem to be the norm with current and more modernized horror magazines
as through doing my own research, on average a persons attention span is
roughly 3 seconds. However by having images that are eye catching and
unsettling it besets the audience into inquiring more about what genre
and text and what it is actually trying to get across to the audience.
6. Furthermore the subheadings such as celebrating 'Stephen King 'are good
shoutouts which show hommogage to his past work but also allows the
magazine to have cater for more than one demographic. By having all ages
and different types of readers interested in your magazine it can be good
for the production side of the magazine as it shows that in some sense
they are taking into consideration the feedback of their large or niche
audience.
