Turabian Style Essay
Writing an essay on the Turabian style can be a challenging task, especially for those unfamiliar
with its specific guidelines and requirements. The Turabian style, based on Kate L. Turabian's "A
Manual for Writers of Research Papers, Theses, and Dissertations," is a set of rules and
conventions widely used in academic writing, particularly in the fields of history and some social
sciences.
One of the difficulties lies in mastering the intricacies of Turabian citation style, which demands
meticulous attention to detail. Properly citing sources, formatting footnotes, and creating a
bibliography in accordance with Turabian guidelines can be time-consuming and complex. The
style also emphasizes precision and clarity in writing, adding an additional layer of challenge for
writers.
Moreover, the Turabian style essay often requires a thorough understanding of the subject matter,
as it often involves in-depth research and analysis. Balancing the academic rigor required by the
Turabian style with the need for a coherent and well-structured essay adds another layer of
complexity.
However, it's essential to note that with practice and familiarity, the challenges associated with
writing in the Turabian style can be overcome. Many resources, including the official manual,
provide detailed guidance, and there are citation generators available to help streamline the
process.
In conclusion, while writing a Turabian style essay may pose difficulties, the key lies in
mastering the rules, maintaining precision, and ensuring a thorough understanding of the subject
matter. Similar essays and assistance with various academic tasks can be sought through

Voluntary Inevitary Confinement
Values Everyone is raised differently, which is why we all have different opinions,
standards, and values. When the topic of solitary confinement is discussed many
have different opinions about it. Some people believe it is right for criminals to
receive this punishment to pay for what they did. Others believe that it is
unnecessary and can be a form of human torture. Considering a large proportion of
the prisoners in solitary confinement are part of the special population stated in bill
A.3080. The New York s Correctional Association found that people diagnosed with
a mental illness made up 11 percent of the state s overall prisonpopulation (Associated
Press, 2017).

The passing of the bill will have an impact on the areas where prisons are located,
but the location of where these prisoners in solitary confinement are also considered.
There are studies that show that most prisoners are general African Americans and
when it comes to solitary confinement they are also over represented. According to a
study, the majority of incarcerated people come from New York Cityand most
prisons are located upstate where most prison staff are white (Poggio, 2015). The
issue of solitary confinement has become more of an issue than just whether it
should be enforced more or become reduced. It has affected different parts of the
state more than others, but it is a problem that should be resolved

IPSec has two encryption modes: tunnel and transport.
IPSec uses three main protocols:
пѓјIP Authentication Header (AH), IP protocol 51, providesauthentication of the
origin of the data, ensures data integrity, and protects against replay.
пѓјIP Encapsulating Security Payload (ESP), IP protocol 50, protects datafrom

пѓјThe Internet Security Association and Key Management Protocol(ISAKMP) is a
protocol framework that defines payload formats, themechanics of implementing a
key exchange protocol, and thenegotiation of a security association.
IPSec can be used in two modes: Tunnel encrypts the header and the payloadof each

Information Security Policy Framework
For the healthcare industry it is important to have an Information Security Policy
Framework within the organization to protect information that is accessed across the
network by staff personnel and patients. In accordance with ISO/IEC 27799:2008, we
begin to define the guidelines to support the interpretation and implementation of
healthcare information protection. ISO/IEC 27799:2008 references the basic controls

What defines how you will handle all of these devices? Can personal devices be
used or only ones issued from the organization. Your information could be at risk if
people are allowed that access to information with proper controls defined by
policy. In the System/Access Domain people have the ability to collect and store
information on the network from virtually any location. The issue of concern is the
safety of the information. Does it contain viruses or malware? The next concern is
private information or proprietary information leaving you facility. How can you
prevent it? The concept of Data Loss Prevention (DLP) can assist with this process.
DLP provides the ability to search policy and procedures to determine what is
considered private or confidential information which assists with not allowing that
information to be stored in unsafe locations. DLP also provides a perimeter check
where data is checked when it is being transmitted to a CD burner. If unsafe
information or company information is being passed then DLP has the ability to stop
the transfer. One of the biggest challenges for implementing to concepts of security
policy framework in the healthcare industry is following the requirements of HIPPA.
Under HIPPA regulations there are two principles that must be followed; Standards
for the privacy of Individually Identifiable Health Information (HIPPA Privacy rule)
and the Security Standards for Individually Identifiable Health
Theme Of Stanley In A Streetcar Named Desire
In A Streetcar Named Desire , the characters of Blanche and Stanley are presented
as opposing characters in the book, and hence a lot of conflict and friction occurs
between them. The character of Blanche is an older character, from a rather
wealthy background and lives in a fantasy world in which she is still young and
hasn t faced the truth. The character of Stanley, however, is a more realistic and
primitive character and can be viewed as Blanche s opposite.
Throughout the play, there is a constant battle between Blanche and Stanley for
Stella. This is shown at the beginning of the play when Blanche disapproves of Stella
s home and what she is dressed in, which to Stanley on the other hand seems
completely normal and fine. Blanche: Why, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Stanley is shown as the reality of the modern society in that time, where Blanche
believes that she is still young and beautiful, and that all men adore her. Approaching
the end of the play, in scene 10, the idea of Blanche s fantasy is very clearly shown to
the audience [She is now placing the rhinestone tiara on her head before the mirror
of the dressing table and murmuring excitedly as if to a group of spectral admirers]
. The word choice of murmuring shows to the audience that she doesn t know
exactly what she is saying or thinking giving the effect that she is insane, not just
messing around. This leads to further conflict in this scene as Stanley walks in and
begins to pick apart Blanche s lies and stories she has told him about the
millionaire. After Stanley has done with eating away at Blanche s tales, he
proceeds to rape her. The stage direction [...as he waits between BLANCHE and the
outer door. The barley audible blue piano begins to drum louder. The sounds of it
turns into the roar of an approaching locomotive.] . This quote shows the increase of
power that Stanley has over Blanche. The blue piano symbolises Blanche and her
fantasy world, but as the locomotive approaches it overcomes the sound of the blue
piano. The locomotive shows the real, cruel world Stanley lives
The Vietnam War Essay
Vietnam was so significant to the United States partly as it would be the first war
they would lose. It also had a tremendous financial impact on the country and the
casualties were also more in the public eye than ever before due to the media. They
learnt that:
a long war for limited objectives, with its steady stream of body bags, will not be
supported by the American people (Martino, 1996, p37).
Some suggest that the US should have avoided any involvement in the war. However,
it is important to consider the political climate of the time when passing judgement.

Ho was determined to achieve independence for the region. The French wanted to
regain power and took badly to Ho s proclaiming the former Indochina as The
Democratic Republic of Vietnam in September, as the British had persuaded the allies
to return power to the French in October (Palmer, 1984).
At this time bi polarity was not yet fully entrenched and Ho appealed to the U.S. in
his September speech to the masses, drawing on The American Declaration of
Independence (ibid.). America influenced the celebrations and professed its
friendship to the new state. However, this did not last and reasons for America s
turnaround are many. During WW2 the US had viewed Indochina as of limited
importance but they began to reassess the situation (Herring, 1986).
France responded to Ho s proclamation by enlisting Britain s help in expelling the
Vietminh from the south of the country, creating a division between Ho s North
Vietnam and French South Vietnam. This was followed by fruitless attempts to
negotiate an agreement between the French and Vietminh that lasted over a year. For
the Vietminh, unification was vital for the country s survival as food production was
mostly in the south, but the French refused to budge. Hostility increased until, in
November 1946 France shelled Haiphong killing 6000 civilians, tragically beginning
the Vietnam War (ibid.)
Unpaid Internships
Most of us remember spending time as a student working as an unpaid intern.
Whether we received college credit, or simply used the experience to fill out our
rГ©sumГ©s, unpaid internships have allowed millions of young people to have the
opportunity gain hands on knowledge about an industry before making a decision
about their future careers. Unpaid internships are only beneficial for students,
however, when they offer real educational opportunities. In recent years, a legal battle
has been brewing between employers and their interns, who say that their positions
were little more than unpaid, full time jobs filled with menial tasks and little
instruction. These former interns have been filing lawsuits around the entertainment
industry seeking... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Additional lawsuits were filed against The Hearst Corporation, Warner Music Group,

for $7.2M), and ICM Partners. Attorneys for The Wendy Williams Show were the
latest to offer a settlement to interns alleging that they should have been paid for their
work. According to their complaint, interns for The Wendy Williams Show alleged
that they were not offered any educational or vocational training, and that their
internships consisted of washing dishes, getting coffee, and taking out the garbage.
The interns believed that they were used as employees, rather than interns, and that

Death of a Salesman
A Dysfunctional Family from Death of a Salesman We never told the truth for ten
minutes in this house. This quote is said by Biff Loman himself. Willy Loman is the
father of Biff and Happy Loman, and the husband of Linda. The Loman s are an
average working class American family. In the play, The Death of a Salesman, written
by Arthur Miller, the Loman s go through very difficult circumstances throughout the
play. These circumstances are not exactly obvious but they are shown throughout the
play. The Loman s are a very dysfunctional family, they are not able to be honest
with one another, and also it is very difficult for them to get along. Lastly, Biff and

Despite his son s popularity in high school, Biff grows up to be a drifter and a
ranch hand. Willy s own career falters as his sales ability flat lines. When he tries to
use personality to ask his boss for a raise, he gets fired instead. Willy s definition of
the American Dream is all wrong, due to the way his own sons turned out to be. In
the play The Death of a Salesman, it is a play of how one dream can affect your
whole look on life, that dream can either make your life or break it, it all depends
on how you pursue it. It is a tragic play, the Loman family faces a lot of difficult
circumstances due to all of the lying, betrayal and the one dream Willy is trying
pursue for his family. Willy then confuses the difference between reality and illusion,
he is so caught up in trying to reach the perfect life, which was the American Dream ,
that he lost track of himself and his own
Comparing Legend Of How Cats And Mice Became Enemies
I am going to compare and contrast two stories I read. The stories are titled Cat and
Rat:The Legend of the Chinese Zodiacs and How Cats and Mice Became Enemies .
These stories are both legends. They both have many similarities and differences. In
this paragraph I am going to compare the two stories. One is that in both stories the
catand mouse/rat started as best friends and ended as enemies. Also the mouse/rat
cheated and had negative character traits in the stories. The cat got angry because
the rat was selfish in both of these legends. In these stories the ouse bribed the cat
with fish. Both of these legends explain why cats hate mice/rats. Now I am going to
talk about the differences in both of these stories. One is that in the

(SOPA) was a controversial United States bill introduced by U.S. Representative
Lamar S. Smith (R TX) to expand the ability of U.S. law enforcement to combat
online copyrightinfringement and online trafficking in counterfeit goods. The
Protect IP Act (PIPA) was a proposed law with the stated goal of giving the US
government and copyright holders additional tools to curb access to rogue websites

Regardless, people should care about the law to not get caught by copyright. The
people who are actually getting hurt are the ones who created their works and got
uploaded on the Internet by other people. Money has been stolen from the creative
people. In other words, some Internet users who are illegally uploading and
exchanging materials are violating the rights of copyright holders to distribute and
earn profit from their own creative works, so the government needs to make the law
stricter and take down copyright material that was posted without permission.
3 According to the article Copyright and the Internet: 1 Should copyright laws be
strictly enforced on the Internet, or would such measures stifle technological and
cultural growth , U.S. copyright law comes from Article 1, Section 8 of the
Constitution, which authorize Congress to promote the progress of science and
useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and discoverers the restricted right
to their particular writings and findings. In other words, violating copyright laws is
when someone uploads the copyright materials on Internet without permission of the
copyright holders. The original Copyright Act, enacted by Congress in 1790, set

What Is The Manifesto Of The Communist Party
Dylan Fischer
In the Manifesto of the Communist Party, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engles aim to
represent the working class of society and condemn the oppressive nature that a
capitalistic society puts on them. They address the problems with capitalism,
specifically its economic model, in order to help define communism as a social model.
The Manifesto provides the history of class oppression and compares previous
structures to its current situation in 1848. Marx and Engels are calling to all
proletariats to wake up to the injustices that are forced upon them and realized it is
time to restructure the classes. They provide the theory of revolution in which
communism will be born. Marx and Karl, begin by stating that, The history of all

The First Time A Girl
The first time a girl gets her period is a defining moment in her life. It marks
significant biological changes in her body and means she is now able to conceive a
child. Each month when you get your period, also known as menstruation, your body
sheds the lining of the uterus. The menstrual blood flows through the cervix and out
of the body through the vagina. A typical period lasts anywhere from 3 to 7 days.
Here are some important things to know about your periods, for both young women
just learning about menstruation and those who are experiencing changes in their
typical cycle. пїј Why You Get Your Periods Every month, an egg begins to grow in
one of your ovaries. After it is fully developed, it leaves the ovary and travels to the...

Some might not even notice they are bleeding more than they usually do in a
particular cycle, and they are using more sanitary products than they normally
would. Some women s periods may last longer than the typical 3 to 7 days, but
they may discount the importance of that as well. However, heavy bleeding during
periods and cycles that stretch beyond 7 or 8 days might be indicative of a fibroid
growth. A fibroid is a noncancerous, fibrous and muscular growth that appears in or
around the uterus. Heavy and prolonged bleeding is the most commonly reported
symptom among women suffering from fibroids, according to a 2014 study
published in The International Journal of Women s Health. Occasionally, you may
also notice the presence of blood clots in your menstrual flow. This, too, can be a
sign of fibroids. пїј Excessive Menstrual Pain may Indicate Endometriosis Abdominal
pain and cramps are common complaints during period cycles when the uterine wall
is shedding itself. During periods, the endometrium produces prostaglandin, a
hormone that induces inflammation and pain. However, severely debilitating pain in
the lower abdominal region and pelvic area that affects your ability to carry out daily
activities in a major way can be indicative of endometriosis. Endometriosis is an
inflammatory disorder in which the uterine tissue, that is typically supposed to grow
and stay inside the uterus, grows outside the uterus. This tissue also forms the uterine

Descartes wonders what else that he can know by using this same logic, but first
must establish the idea of God and that God is not deceiving him. He reasons that
God exists because he as a mortal could not create the idea of such a powerful
being, and only a being as powerful as God could have caused an idea of a God that
is perfect. Descartes goes on to reason that because God is perfect, then God would
not deceive him about anything. It s not that Descartes is being deceived, but
rather his lack of knowledge or understanding about the matters at hand is causing
the problem he is facing. Descartes is now clear on his perception of God so he
looks at material things. He points out that a body must exist in reality, because for
him to dream about his body, it must exist before he would know what to dream
about. So although he can perceive qualities of material things, he is still confused
about some things because of is imperfect perception. He concludes that the senses
are meant to help him get around in the world, not to lead him to the truth. (

The New York City Water System Then and Now
New York City has one of the most top quality drinking water and is called the
champagne of drinking water [13] which is due to its unique water treatment system
that consists of a vast reservoir system. A reservoir is a natural or artificial source of
untreated water that can be found underground or at ground level that can include
water treatment and associated equipment (pumps and piping systems).[1] There are
three major watershed systems in which New York receives its water which are The

Further population increase and the expansion of New York City to include five
boroughs amplified the need for more clean water circulation. In order to find new
water sources the Board of Water Supply built facilities in four watersheds that is
now known as the Catskill System (which includes the Ashokan Reservoir and
Catskill Aqueduct). The Delaware System was fully constructed in 1944 which
receives water from the Delaware River tributary. Located in current day New York

The Novel Gravity Journal, By Gail Sidonie Sobat
To improve is to change
Thinking about death is scary. Humans tend to avoid thinking about these topics as
it gives them complex negative feelings and thoughts about afterlife. Many people
on their death beds are asked, What would you do differently if you were a
teenager again? In response, many victims of this natural but frightening process
say, I wish I had a bit more time to care about myself, and didn t let people s ideas
and thoughts about me, and my appearance affect me. The novel Gravity Journal,
is written by Gail Sidonie Sobat who is a Canadian writer, educator, and singer that
works as a teacher with kids who have eating disorders. Gail wrote the novel by her
experiences at the school of anorexic victims over the course of four years. In this
novel, a lot of characters play a critical role in developing the plot and the universal
theme of the story. These characters include, Anise the protagonist of the story,
Marcel, Anise s brother, Boyd, her boyfriend, Morgan, Anise s therapist, and Dr.Z,
Anise s doctor. The story takes place in Eliza Petraclark Memorial Hospital, also
known as the 4Phsych O located in Edmonton, Canada. Anise Jasmine Luther is
diagnosed by Anorexia, an eating disorder that makes the victim obsessed with losing
weight. Anise finds it difficult dealing with everything, her brother Marcel, her
parents, and the hospital. Thoughts and plans of committing suicide wonders her
head, night and day. Cutting herself is the only escape plan. Anise
Jamaica’s Troubled Past Essay
Jamaica s Troubled Past
The Maroons
Jamaica s fighting spirit can be seen even in its early days with the Maroons. The
fighting spirit is not uncommon with people who are oppressed or forced against
their will. The Maroons came in two waves, the first are slaves that fled during the
Spanish rule, the second wave was during British control. The Maroons used the
highlands of Jamaica to seek refuge, establish colonies and attack plantations when
needed. Even today the beliefs and herbal practices of the Maroons are still evident in
Jamaican culture. Their trouble past has made their life difficult but even today they
are a presence in Jamaica.

Frequently employed as hunters of wild cattle and hogs (Cimarron, in Spanish), the
free ranging Africans formed small armed bands that attacked Spanish overland
commerce. Their numbers grew as they abducted slaves and gathered runaways.
Adapting to the environment under the guidence of Arawak Indians, themselves
victims of ruthless exploitation and enslavement by Spanish overlords, the Maroons
settled into established communities high in the mountains. (Olson, pg.234) By the
mid sixteenth century runaways outnumbered whites 7 to 1. (Campbell, pg. 2) This
proved to be very frightening for the Spanish planters because the Maroons would
strike with stealth and speed, and retreat just as quickly. This poem by Anon gives an
image of the power and fear the Maroons embeded in the Spanish planters.
The wild Maroons, impregnable and free
Among the mountain holds of liberty
Sudden as lightning darted on their foe
Seen like the flash, remember like the blow.

All over the European controlled Caribbean governments were trying to control these
threats to their establishments. Trained hunting parties were assembled to attempt to
hunt down and destroy the maroons. The Spanish called theirs Rancheadores.
(Campbell, pg. 3) The Spanish church also joined in the attempt to recapture slaves.

James s Martyrdom As A Verifiable Origin For Information
James, the Half Brother of Jesus was Abruptly Transformed
There is not as much information about James as there is about Paul, but he is also
significant for the evidence offered, and another witness as well. The same
reasoning can be utilized in regard to James because his belief is that he actually saw
a resurrected Jesus and that he was ready to die for the identical belief as Paul and
the other disciples. James s martyrdom is attested by Josephus, Hegesippus, and
Clement of Alexandria. We no longer have any of the works of Hegesippus or the
writings of Clement where the event is mentioned. However, sections have been
preserved by Eusebius. Therefore, his martyrdom is attested by both Christian and
non Christian sources. This fact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here is where a resurrection appearance to James is discovered, leading to his
transformation. Actually, most scholars think this was the reason James became a
believer. James, just like Paul, offers concrete evidence of someone being transformed
to Christianity, after what they believed to be an appearance of the resurrected Jesus.
Skepticism of History and Other Explanations
Reports or events of the ancient past are labored with practical naturalism, which
prevents the discovery of miracles to be impartial historic evidence. Peter Kirby, the
creator of EarlyChristianWritings.com, asserts that, Many scholars doubt the
historicity of the empty tomb. Robert M. Price believes that, apologists love to make
the claims ... that the resurrection of Jesus is the best attested event in history,
however probabilistic arguments demonstrate that the resurrection is anything but an
open and shut case.
Robert Greg Cavin, a Philosophy and Religion lecturer at Cypress College, asserts
that, our only sources of potential evidence, the New Testament Easter traditions, fall
far short of providing the kind of information necessary for establishing the
resurrection hypothesis.
Bible researcher Geza Vermes examines this topic in the book, The Resurrection. He

Division In The Great Gatsby
There have always socioeconomic divisions in the modern world. No matter what
solution there is to try to fix this division between people, a select group, who are
used to being wealthy, will always feel entitled and elite to others. In The Great
Gatsby, this division is represented by the characters from West Egg, where people
like the Buchanans who come from old money live, and East Egg, where people
like Gatsby who come from new money live. Most of the conflicts of The Great
Gatsbycome down to money. In this scene, where the five main characters are in a
hotel suite on a hot summer day together, there is a lot of tension between Gatsby and
Tom. Though they are both extremely wealthy, they believe that they are very
different and their only common interest is Daisy. Tom and Gatsby get into a heated
argument about her and, while this is included in both film adaptations, the scene is
presented in a slightly different way.
This scene from the 1974 adaptation, dialogue between Gatsby, Tom, and Daisy is
the focus. One of the central parts of the dialogue is when Gatsby wants Daisy to
tell Tom she never loved him. In this adaptation, Daisy is very obviously coaxed into
saying it to please Gatsby, however in the book it was a little more subtle. This was
done to highlight the fact that Daisy and Gatsby s relationship has been one sided
until they reunited through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The 2013 adaptation kept the Gatsby and Daisy angle of this scene very true to the
book, while the 1974 version took minor liberties to ensure that focus could be kept
on Gatsby s feelings for Daisy. By doing that, the theme of Gatsby s unrealistic
relationship expectations for Daisy is emphasized. As previously mentioned, this was
also included in the 2013 adaptation. However, along with the equal focus on the
contrast between new and old money, the 2013 version is more effective since it
stayed true to the themes presented in the

Charlie Parker Research Paper
In the world of Jazz there are known to be only two time periods in jazz: before
Charlie Parker and after Charlie Parker. Charlie Parker has become an American
icon and extremely important to the world of jazz. He had many successes
throughout his life, but I want to find; how did Charlie Parker s fast pace
improvisation solo style effect the creation of bebop? Carlie Parker s complex
harmony and rhythms he integrated into his improvisation solo style laid the
groundwork for the creation of a new jazzstyle known today as bebop. Charlie
Parker was born in Kansas City on August 29, 1920; at this time Kansas City was a
center of African American music. Parker quickly developed talents at the public
school he attended, Lincoln High, on the baritone but by the time he was 15, alto
saxophone had become Parker s instrument of choice. From 1935 to 1939 Parker
played in the Kansas City music scene, mostly at a place known as the Reno Club.
In the year 1954, taken over by drugs and alcohol, Charlie Parker died in a New York
apartment.
There is a story that goes:

One big difference is that swing is a very broad area with many different sub
styles; bebop, on the other hand, is very specific to tempo and style. Bebop is a
much faster tempo than swing generally was and the eight notes can, at times, lose
the swing feel. Bebop features more complex harmonies and more intricate
melodies than swing did. In bebop, the element of surprise was highly valued as
well as the idea of incorporating melodies from familiar songs into improvisation.
Swing was generally used for dancing where Bebop would not really be able to be

developmental psychologist who studied young children and analyzed their
development at a young age. Piaget is well known for his four cognitive
development stages: sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete, and formal operations;
as mentioned by Siegler and Alibali (2004). Siegler and Alibali (2004) also stated

During this stage, children may develop mental representations but lack ability to
think logically and understand reversibility. Siegler and Alibali (2004) explained
that between the ages of 6 to 12 years old, a child has the ability to learn perception
and take information from multiple sources and piece them together. This type of
development is also critical in the cognitive stages of a child, because it develops
awareness and it allows them to experience world real recognition. This is the third
stage of cognitive development, also known as the operational stage. The
conservation of liquid task will be apparent in distinguishing a child who is either
in the pre operational stage or operational stage due to their abilities mentioned
previously. I do not agree with Piaget s conclusion about limiting this experiment to
older school aged children because through early education and awareness, any
children can pass this experiment. Since Piaget was the only one that transferred the
water from one cup into the taller one, the children probably thought it was some
kind of magic trick. For this modification, I allowed my little cousin, Waverly, to
pour the water into the cup to show that I did not do anything to tinker with the
water, and everything she saw is literally in front of her eyes.

market is controlled by a small group of firms with at least two firms controlling

other cards or offer certain discounts. Amex has charged the merchants higher fees

Sultan Selim I, and his first actions to take administrative control. Г‡elebi also
describes the earnings of a couple different administrative positions such as the
governor and molla. He also goes into detail about distribution of power beneath
each of these positions. This detailed description differs from Г‡elebi s previous
story telling style of his previous adventures. This reflects his more mature age and
the seriousness of the reason for his journey to Jerusalem. Г‡elebi also describes the
layout of the fortress in exact detail, measuring out distances in paces. This style of
description is repeated throughout Jerusalem for the major Islamic monuments that
Г‡elebi visits such as the Asqa Mosque and the Dome or the Rock. When Г‡elebi
describes Islamic monuments, he is generally much more sober than he usually
would be when describing places that he sees when he is outside of the Ottoman
Empire. This is likely because it shows his respect to the history of these places, and
also Г‡elebi likely thought that these locations were perfect as they were, and needed

Political Correctness Research Paper
In today s world, our lives are controlled by political correctness. Throughout society,
people have to be concerned with what they say as it may be misconstrued. People s
lives are affected in numerous ways due to political correctness. This limits the given
rights under the first amendment, the freedom of speech. In turn, this changes humor

society closer together and limit hatred. In the end, it can be argued that political
correctness has both positive and negative affect in today s world. The negative
effects being limiting the first amendment, art, and education, and the positive effects
being increasing equality.
First and foremost, political correctness has started to leak into our education.
Political correctness has begun to find its way into our textbooks and education.
Learning material that is found offensive or discriminating is being removed or

The Influence Of The On The Church Of Corinth
Looking back in world history, one can notice the high significance that the notion of
wisdom had in the interpretations of philosophers and theologians. Most of them
imagined wisdom as an ideal form of human knowledge, desired and praised by all.
Even the Corinthians were wisdom seekers. As a result, the secular Corinth heavily
influenced the church in Corinth. The church encouraged attitudes associated with
what would presently be called consumerism, postmodernism and audience pleasing
rhetoric. This paper will examine how Paul uses this aspect (wisdom), how he sets
forth a formative understanding of the cross, a Christomorphic re definition of the

He made a conscious decision to put the emphasis on Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
He probably thought about the enormous task to preach the gospel in a city like
Corinth. Knowing the need and his own limitations made him weak and afraid.
Yet it kept him from the poison of self reliance, and let God s strength flow. Paul s
rhetorical depreciation of his person and his oratory so as to highlight the power of
God at work in the gospel is reflective of his view that the messenger and the
message are as one in the proclamation of the gospel .
The word wisdom , based on its usage within the bible, can be rendered to its
occasional uses in the Old Testament to refer to mechanical dexterity, while its
dominant uses within the New Testament generally refers to an attribute of God or
as divine knowledge . In the predominant context of the New Testament, the word
wisdom can be interpreted through the Greek word Sophia , which can be
rendered as practical wisdom or wisdom personified; the English translation of the
word is divine/holy wisdom and was widely used by early churches . Paul uses the
word wisdom (sophia) several times in chapters 1 3; the word wisdom appears
sixteen times and wise appears ten times hinting on the predominance of the word in
these chapters. This suggests that wisdom was fundamentally a Corinthian issue,
which Paul was forced to address in a corrective, ad hoc manner. Hence it is
reasonable to argue that Paul s notion of wisdom in
Moan Portrayal Of Polynesian Culture
Recently, three articles were received discussing whether or not the movie, Moana ,
was stereotypical of Polynesian people. While some believe that Maui was

The European Expansion Of Europe
For many generations, it was taught that the expansion of Europe to the Americas,
(also known as the European expansion), had a huge impact on all societies of the
old world. The importance of this was taught to societies all across the world, and
was indeed a necessary occurrence. Up until recently, the idea was never given any
real thought for the majority of people as to how, over many generations in the
family and throughout the passage of time, how they precisely got where they are
currently today, as well as what kind of pain and suffering the continents known as
North and South America was initially founded on. European expansion did have
some positive effects for the Europeans, such as new lands and resources, however at
the same time it had caused many more negative effects on both the Natives and
Europeans.
In the early period of the expansion, explorers from countries such as Britain,
France, Dutch Republic, Spain, and Portugal, crossed immense oceans to even find a
hint of other civilizations and new resources. With superior technological strength
and materials, especially with firearms, Europeans were able to achieve both land
and power. The motives for European expansion could be of any variation, from
desiring glory from their lands, to obtaining gold for their future, to serve in the name
of God, or even to meet the strategic needs that their country may require.
Among the first well known European explorers, Christopher Columbus, an

Robert Louis Stevenson’s The Strange Case of Dr
Jekyll...
The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is a gothic horror novella written by
Robert Louis Stevenson in the Victorian era. The novella follows a well respected
doctor Henry Jekyll and his struggle between good and evil when he takes a potion
and becomes Mr Hyde.
Robert Louis Stevenson the author of the novella The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and
Mr Hyde was born in Edinburgh in 1850 and died at the young age of forty four. He
wrote the book in 1886. As a child he was very close to his nurse and when he was ill
she used to read him
Bible stories as he was brought up in a strict Catholic tradition, which he later
rebelled against. This led to his fascination for his city s low life and for bizarre
characters, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When describing the door, Stevenson includes detail about the surrounding and the
atmosphere as being dark weather, foggy and mysterious: a black winter morning .
The door also represents mystery, as we do not know the contents of the building:
showed no window, nothing but a door . The building is described as being a
certain sinister block which suggests it looks evil. The atmosphere is unwelcoming
around the door as it has neither bell nor knocker which shows that Mr Hyde did not
want any visitors.
Most of the changes from Dr Jekyll into Mr Hyde take place in the laboratory. This
is an odd setting to use, as it is a symbol of what could be the origin of evil.
Stevenson insinuates this by the way he uses the butler (Poole) to say that it used
to be a dissecting room this is where many dead bodies will have been
experimented on. Since the symbols of evil in this novella are Mr Hyde and his use
of medicine this could also be the case as the potion that went wrong, and created
and evil individual, was made here. When we later learn
the door leads to a courtyard, which allows Mr Hyde into the laboratory this begins
to feel strange, as we do not understand why Mr
Hyde is going into Dr Jekyll s grounds.
Our next setting is at the murder of Sir Danvers Carew where once again there was
fog, which had
Issues Concerning Adult Students Today
This literature review investigates and outlines issues concerning adult students today.
Institutions of higher education need to design and adapt their programs to attract
and engage this growing population of students to meet their needs and insure their
success. This paper will defines who adult students are, discusses and outline the
specific needs they have in higher educationprograms and discusses the barriers they
currently encounter. In addition, there will be discussion about best practices to
consider, those currently in operation and future concerns for both students and
universities. For clarification going forward, I will use the terms non traditional
student, adult student, adult learner, non residential student and nontraditional learner
interchangeably. The growth of the adult student population in higher education
requires programs that address and support their specific needs.
In January 2012, I returned to JMU after leaving in May of 1982. I began to attend
classes on campus in fall 2012. In one of my classes, my professor continually
stressed how important it was to engage in the campus community and involved in
campus organizations. He really stressed that employers like to see this quality
when interviewing candidates. Of course, I began to become concerned because I
was not able to do this. My commute from Waynesboro was 35 minutes away and I
did not have access to the campus except when I was there for classes. Another

Mariama Bâ’s So Long a Letter Essay
Mariama BГў s So Long a Letter
When a person hears words like feminist or feminism, notions of what it means to be
feminine, or consequently unfeminine, begin to dimly form in our mind s eye.
Although we cannot definitively answer the question of what is feminine, we are
able to recognize it when we see it or its absence. This conception, however, is
arbitrary at best. What is it about an evening gown that seems to define and dress the
feminine aura while a woman spitting would be denounced as inherently unfeminine?
There is no question that Mariama BГў s novel, So Long a Letter, is undoubtedly a
work of feminist literature. Although we are able to easily make this identification, it
is much more difficult for us to define and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

(Grosz 3)
The social and not biological origin of these gender roles within a society imply that
these rules can be changed, altered, or disregarded completely, allowing for social
change and mobility. Ramatoulaye echoes Grosz s message in her conversation with
Daouda in which she seeks to de objectify women, and stresses the importance of
women within a society:
Women should no longer be decorative accessories, objects to be moved about,
companions to be flattered or calmed with promises. Women are the nation s primary,
fundamental root, from which all else grows and blossoms. (BГў 61 62)
Although Ramatoulaye identifies and celebrates the importance of women as their
own separate group, it would that she does without having to subordinate women to
men. Using the ability to create life, she acknowledges the inherent difference
between men and women without creating a hierarchy between them. This
deconstruction of the male female hierarchy is crucial in moving away from the
patriarch dominated world into one of equality:
For patriarchs, difference is understood in terms of inequality, distinction, or
opposition, a sexual difference modeled on negative, binary, or oppositional structures
within which only one of the two terms has any autonomy; the other is defined only
Microsoft Anti-Trust Lawsuit
Microsoft Anti Trust Lawsuit Microsoft is one of America s top computer
companies but, in 1999, it was accused of violating the law through the methods it
used to promote its internet browser, Internet Explorer. The case against Microsoft
was brought about by the government and claimed that Microsoft was in violation
of the Sherman Act, a law designed to fight monopolies. When that case was
finally decided, and it was found that Microsoft had indeed broken U.S. law, a
competitor, AOL Time Warner, then filed a civil suit claiming damages from the
illegal activities of Microsoft. As a result of the civil suit, Microsoft agreed to pay
AOL Time Warner $750 million, as well as allow AOL to use Internet Explorer free
of charge for seven years. Beginning in 1999, the U.S. government, along with a
number of individual states, brought suit against Microsoft alleging that it s practices
to promote its internet browser were in violation of the Sherman Act, which among
its many provisions regulated monopolies. Through contracts which directly linked
the sale of other products, like operating systems, with the sale of applications, like
its internet browser, Microsoft was accused of violating the statutes which prevent
monopolies. A district court found for the government and ordered Microsoft to
submit a proposed plan of divestiture, with the company to be split into an operating
systems business and an applications business. ( United States of America v.
Microsoft ) In

Turabian Style Essay

  • 1. Turabian Style Essay Writing an essay on the Turabian style can be a challenging task, especially for those unfamiliar with its specific guidelines and requirements. The Turabian style, based on Kate L. Turabian's "A Manual for Writers of Research Papers, Theses, and Dissertations," is a set of rules and conventions widely used in academic writing, particularly in the fields of history and some social sciences. One of the difficulties lies in mastering the intricacies of Turabian citation style, which demands meticulous attention to detail. Properly citing sources, formatting footnotes, and creating a bibliography in accordance with Turabian guidelines can be time-consuming and complex. The style also emphasizes precision and clarity in writing, adding an additional layer of challenge for writers. Moreover, the Turabian style essay often requires a thorough understanding of the subject matter, as it often involves in-depth research and analysis. Balancing the academic rigor required by the Turabian style with the need for a coherent and well-structured essay adds another layer of complexity. However, it's essential to note that with practice and familiarity, the challenges associated with writing in the Turabian style can be overcome. Many resources, including the official manual, provide detailed guidance, and there are citation generators available to help streamline the process. In conclusion, while writing a Turabian style essay may pose difficulties, the key lies in mastering the rules, maintaining precision, and ensuring a thorough understanding of the subject matter. • 2. Voluntary Inevitary Confinement Values Everyone is raised differently, which is why we all have different opinions, standards, and values. When the topic of solitary confinement is discussed many have different opinions about it. Some people believe it is right for criminals to receive this punishment to pay for what they did. Others believe that it is unnecessary and can be a form of human torture. Considering a large proportion of the prisoners in solitary confinement are part of the special population stated in bill A.3080. The New York s Correctional Association found that people diagnosed with a mental illness made up 11 percent of the state s overall prisonpopulation (Associated Press, 2017). The passing of the bill will have an impact on the areas where prisons are located, but the location of where these prisoners in solitary confinement are also considered. There are studies that show that most prisoners are general African Americans and when it comes to solitary confinement they are also over represented. According to a study, the majority of incarcerated people come from New York Cityand most prisons are located upstate where most prison staff are white (Poggio, 2015). The issue of solitary confinement has become more of an issue than just whether it should be enforced more or become reduced. It has affected different parts of the state more than others, but it is a problem that should be resolved

During WW2 the US had viewed Indochina as of limited importance but they began to reassess the situation (Herring, 1986). France responded to Ho s proclamation by enlisting Britain s help in expelling the Vietminh from the south of the country, creating a division between Ho s North Vietnam and French South Vietnam. This was followed by fruitless attempts to negotiate an agreement between the French and Vietminh that lasted over a year. For the Vietminh, unification was vital for the country s survival as food production was mostly in the south, but the French refused to budge. Hostility increased until, in November 1946 France shelled Haiphong killing 6000 civilians, tragically beginning the Vietnam War (ibid.)

The same reasoning can be utilized in regard to James because his belief is that he actually saw a resurrected Jesus and that he was ready to die for the identical belief as Paul and the other disciples. James s martyrdom is attested by Josephus, Hegesippus, and Clement of Alexandria. We no longer have any of the works of Hegesippus or the writings of Clement where the event is mentioned. No matter what solution there is to try to fix this division between people, a select group, who are used to being wealthy, will always feel entitled and elite to others. In The Great Gatsby, this division is represented by the characters from West Egg, where people like the Buchanans who come from old money live, and East Egg, where people like Gatsby who come from new money live. Most of the conflicts of The Great Gatsbycome down to money. In this scene, where the five main characters are in a hotel suite on a hot summer day together, there is a lot of tension between Gatsby and Tom. Though they are both extremely wealthy, they believe that they are very different and their only common interest is Daisy. Tom and Gatsby get into a heated argument about her and, while this is included in both film adaptations, the scene is presented in a slightly different way. This scene from the 1974 adaptation, dialogue between Gatsby, Tom, and Daisy is the focus. One of the central parts of the dialogue is when Gatsby wants Daisy to tell Tom she never loved him. The Influence Of The On The Church Of Corinth Looking back in world history, one can notice the high significance that the notion of wisdom had in the interpretations of philosophers and theologians. Most of them imagined wisdom as an ideal form of human knowledge, desired and praised by all. Even the Corinthians were wisdom seekers. As a result, the secular Corinth heavily influenced the church in Corinth. The church encouraged attitudes associated with what would presently be called consumerism, postmodernism and audience pleasing rhetoric. He probably thought about the enormous task to preach the gospel in a city like Corinth. Knowing the need and his own limitations made him weak and afraid. Yet it kept him from the poison of self reliance, and let God s strength flow. Paul s rhetorical depreciation of his person and his oratory so as to highlight the power of God at work in the gospel is reflective of his view that the messenger and the message are as one in the proclamation of the gospel . The word wisdom , based on its usage within the bible, can be rendered to its occasional uses in the Old Testament to refer to mechanical dexterity, while its dominant uses within the New Testament generally refers to an attribute of God or as divine knowledge . In the predominant context of the New Testament, the word wisdom can be interpreted through the Greek word Sophia , which can be rendered as practical wisdom or wisdom personified; the English translation of the word is divine/holy wisdom and was widely used by early churches . Paul uses the word wisdom (sophia) several times in chapters 1 3; the word wisdom appears sixteen times and wise appears ten times hinting on the predominance of the word in these chapters. This suggests that wisdom was fundamentally a Corinthian issue, which Paul was forced to address in a corrective, ad hoc manner. Hence it is reasonable to argue that Paul s notion of wisdom in

When that case was finally decided, and it was found that Microsoft had indeed broken U.S. law, a competitor, AOL Time Warner, then filed a civil suit claiming damages from the illegal activities of Microsoft.
