Tsunamis are mostly caused by large earthquakes on the seafloor when slabs of rock move past each other suddenly, causing the overlying water to move. While 80% occur in the Pacific Ocean's "Ring of Fire" due to tectonic activity, they can also be triggered by underwater landslides or volcanic eruptions. Tsunamis initially appear as small waves but grow dramatically in size and can cause huge destruction when hitting coastlines, destroying property, infrastructure, and leaving over 200,000 people dead across 14 countries according to records.

Indonesia’s most notable tsunami disaster tsunamis can accompany large subduction zone earthquakes generated as a result of complex interaction of the indo-australia and eurasiatectonic plates. In 2004, the existing indian ocean warning system was inadequate; so evacuation did not happen. Tsunami waves with wave heights of 4 to 10 m and inland runup of 3.3 km or more reached the coasts of all indian ocean nations- - - whose people were unevacuated and unprepared. As many as 220,000 people killed (120,000 in indonesia) --- and 500,000 injured. Indonesia Earthquakes and Tsunamis
Tsunami is a Japanese word Tsu means ‘harbour’ and nami means ‘wave’.
They are called tidal waves but they have actually nothing to do with the tides. However their appearance from shore is similar to rapidly rising or falling tides.
Tsunami is a series of wave created when water is moved very quickly.
Tsunami is gravity wave system, triggered by vertical disturbances in ocean. They are long waves sometime with hundreds of miles b/w their crests, just like the concentric waves generated by an object dropped into a pool.
First tsunami was recorded in 1480 B.C. in eastern Mediterranean, when the Minoan civilization was wiped out.
A large tsunami accompanied by the earthquake of Lisbon in 1755.
The Kutch earthquake of June 16, 1819 generated strong tsunami which submerged the coastal areas and damage to ships and country made boats of fishermen.
North and South American records have dated such
events back to 1788 for Alaska and 1562 for Chile. Records of Hawaiian tsunami go back to 1821.
Tsunami hits the Mona Passage off Puerto Rico in 1918, grand banks of Canada in 1929.
A series of waves in a water body caused by the displacement of a large volume of water, generally in an ocean or a large lake. Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and other underwater explosions (including detonations, landslides, glacier calvings, meteorite impacts and other disturbances) above or below water all have the potential to generate a tsunami. Unlike normal ocean waves, which are generated by wind, or tides, which are generated by the gravitational pull of the Moon and the Sun, a tsunami is generated by the displacement of water by a large event.

Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2. Where do Tsunamis occur the most?
• Most Tsunamis about 80 percent, happen within
the Pacific Ocean’s “Ring of Fire”, a geologically
active area where tectonic shifts make volcanoes
and earthquakes common. Tsunamis may also
be caused by underwater landslides or volcanic
eruption.
3. What causes a Tsunami?
• Tsunamis are mostly caused by large
earthquakes on the seafloor when slabs of
rock move past each other suddenly , causing
the overlying water to move. The resulting
waves move away from the source of the
earthquake event.
4. How a Tsunami affects people?
• While an immediate effects of a Tsunami is the
destruction of the property, Tsunamis also
create a health crisis. Not only do Tsunamis
appear out buildings and carry many things in
their path away, they leave behind an crippled
infrastructure that makes an extremely
difficult to provide basic servers to the people
who survived.
5. What is a Tsunami?
• A Tsunami is a massive wave of water caused
by a volcanic eruption or a earthquake.
Tsunamis can cause huge destruction when
they hit coastlines.

8. Awesome FACTS! About Tsunamis!!!
• In the deepest part of the Ocean, Tsunami
waves are often only 1 -3 feet tall. Sailors may
not even realize that Tsunami waves are
passing beneath them.
