 BRANDING, SOCIAL MEDIA
LINKEDIN

• Valuable website for making and maintaining professional
  connections.
• Wide variety of groups to join and be able to join in their
  conversations
• My LinkedIn connections include: friends, family, co-workers,
  colleagues, and fellow students
• http://www.linkedin.com/pub/marguerite-glenn/46/579/121
ONLINE PRIVACY

• Google results are different for everyone and are tailored
  to the individual
• Google ads are tailored to the individual by what is in
their Gmai accounts and the subjects of the emails
• One must be very careful with their personal
information online since it can end up in the wrong
  hands
TWITTER #TRMA585
GOOGLE PLUS (G+)

• Created my own:
  https://plus.google.com/105831218295851503137/about

• Like that you can pick and choose who you want to
  share certain things with
• Am using this as my professional page
PROFESSIONAL FACEBOOK PAGES

• At this time I do not think I would personally use a
Professional Facebook page since I use Facebook purely
  for social interaction

• Examples of professional Facebook pages I admire are:
• Dr. Julie on Your Beautiful Mindful Life
• Mayo Clinic
• American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy
LEARNING FROM MENTAL HEALTH
   PROFESSIONALS & ORGANIZATIONS

• Links to 3 therapists’ sites who will inspire my own site
  one day
  • http://www.deborahserani.com/

  • Great article by Dr. Keely Kolmes on managing Facebook as a
    mental health professional
  • http://drkkolmes.com/for-clinicians/articles/#facebook
BLOGS: BLOGGER, WORDPRESS,
         TUMBLR, POSTEROUS

• Having a professional blog could be very helpful in my
future counseling career so that I may post links and
articles to pertinent mental health info
• I could have a link to my professional blog on my
  professional website
• Blogger would be my choice to use
• It’s a fine line to dance if one wanted both a personal and
professional blog especially if they were a counselor

MANAGING YOUR ONLINE IDENTITY

                                           Mystery solved of how online
                                           professionals manage so many
                                           different sites and while still
                                           Maintaining an active off-line
                                           Life…HOOTSUITE!

                                           http://hootsuite.com/

Dr. Julie’s helpful bit on how to

WEBSITES & DOMAIN NAMES

• I have been most curious about building a website since
I one day want to go into private practice and have my
  own website
• I did not realize how easy it was to set a website up and
that I could be up and running in less than an hour
• Helpful websites:
• http://www.juliehanks.com/2012/01/05/6-reasons-im-obse
HAVING AN IMPACT

• KONY 2012: http://t.co/P60PuinC via @youtube”

• The internet is an amazing way to get info to the masses
and bring attention to important issues such as the Kony
video has done BUT one might have to sacrifice their
anonymity in exchange. Is it worth it?
GOALS & STRATEGIES

• Strategy is key online

• One doesn’t have to be a member of all online groups or
spend in all your energy and time in just one domain

• Communicate effectively and clearly
SLIDESHARE

• Could be a great tool for future use if I ever decide to combine
counseling and teaching or if I am a member of a corporation and
will need to present at a conference

• I got some great ideas from presentations at this site:
  http://www.presentationadvisors.com/building-your-personal-brand-w

• Here’s my slideshare link: http://www.slideshare.net/margglenn
FINAL THOUGHTS

• Such a rich and eye opening learning experience for me

• Had no idea how important and impactful it can be to
have a well managed and thoughtful online identity and
presence AND it does not take all day to maintain

• I will certainly be using these resources in my
  professional career!
