2. Morphology
โข Trichomonas are common flageolets of the tropical zone.
โข Exists only in trophozoite phase without the cystic phase.
โข The single ovoid nucleus is seen at the round anterior end and a cleft like depression
(cytostome) lies at its side.
โข Has 3-5 anterior flagella that are free.
โข A thicker flagella passes backwards along the side of the body forming the undulating
membrane and come out free at the pointed posterior end.
โข The axostyle runs down the middle of the body and ends at the pointed tail like
extremity.

4. Classification of trichomonas
โข According to habitat, trichomonas is classified as:
o Pentatrichomonas hominis: Inhabiting in the ileo-caecal region.
o Trichomonas tinax: inhabiting in the oral cavity.
o Trichomonas vaginalis: Inhabiting in vagina.
6. Morphology
โข It is a pear-shaped organism with a central nucleus and four anterior flagella.
โข The undulating membrane extends about two-thirds of its length.
โข It exists only as a trophozoite form.
โข Transmission is by sexual intercourse.
Habitat
โข It is found in the female genital tract.
โข Also found in urinary tract of both male and female.

โข Urethritis in both male and female.
