History of Trichomoniasis <ul><li>The first of the Trichomonas tenax species was discovered by Miller in 1773. </li></ul><ul><li>in 1836, Donné officially discovered it and named it Trichomonas vaginalis. When testing in both men and women. </li></ul><ul><li>Duboucher found numerous of this disease in a man’s lungs who was infected with HIV in the year 2003. </li></ul>
  3. 3. What is Trichomoniasis? <ul><li>Tirchomoniasis also known as “Trich”, is a parasitic sexually transmitted disease that causes itchy, burning, and inflammation symptoms in women. This disease rarely targets men. </li></ul>
  4. 4. A Cure for “Trich”? <ul><li>Yes, there is a cure. The cure is using a medicine called Metronidazole, which is taken orally. Metronidazole has a 90 to 95% success rate in curing Trichomoniasis. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Possible long-term consequences of “Trich” <ul><li>If this disease is left untreated, not only will the current symptoms get worse, but the disease will cause tissue and organ damage, and will increase the chances of contracting other STDs. </li></ul>
