Effect of Temperature on Sliding Wear Mechanism under Lubrication ConditionsCSCJournals
Experimental program using ball-on-cylinder tester has been conducted to investigate the effects of temperature, normal load, sliding speed and type of lubricating oil on sliding wear mechanism. The worn surfaces and debris have been examined. Surface examination of the tested samples using scanning electron microscope SEM was used to study the wear particles and the wear surfaces. The results show that the temperature of the oils affects the probability of adhesion, oxidation, wear rates, and friction coefficient. At room temperature (40oC) and under lubrication conditions, friction and wear decreases with the increase of the running time. The increase in applied normal load tends to reduce the friction in all types of oils. The phosphorated oil SAE 90 was superior in minimizing friction and wear as compared with other oils. The results have shown that the lubricant temperature has a significant role in wear mechanism.

Microstructure and sliding wear behaviour of stircast ti gr and ti –fe metal ...eSAT Journals
Abstract
The type and weight percentage of reinforcement play important role in microstructure and sliding wear resistance of the composite. The low melting point nonferrous metal matrix composites Tin- Graphite and Tin-Iron metal matrix composites are cast by the liquid stir casting technique with up to 5 and 15 weight percentages of carbon and iron respectively as reinforcements. The sliding wear characteristics are important if the specimens are used as bearing materials for light duty applications. The specimens are polished and etched for microstructure examination to verify the homogeneous dispersion of reinforcements in the matrix. The microstructure examination reveals the uniform dispersion of reinforcements in the matrix. The specimens are also subjected to dry sliding wear on Pin –on –disc wear testing equipment and the weight loss method technique was used to find specific wear rate at the respective sliding distance. The cumulative specific wear rates and friction coefficients are plotted against sliding distance. The specific wear rate curves show the necessity of an optimum weight percentage of reinforcements in the composite to reduce the wear rate. The frictional coefficient versus sliding distance curves show the decrease in frictional force at higher sliding distances as the weight percentage of particulates increases. At higher sliding distances, in case of the Tin –Graphite composite the surface of the specimen observed to be smooth which makes the graphite particles to expose as flakes and act as solid lubricant to reduce wear. The scanning electron microscope image of the surface which is normal to the sliding surface also studied to verify the flake formation during wear. Both mild and severe wear regions are observed.
Keywords: particulate, metal matrix composites, stir casting, specific wear rate, friction coefficient.
Powder Metallurgy enables the processing of materials with very high melting points, including refractory metals such as tungsten, molybdenum, and tantalum. Such metals are very difficult to produce by melting and casting and are often very brittle in the cast state.
Advantages of Powder Metallurgy
It can be very economical for mass production (100,000 parts). Long term reliability through close control of dimensions and physical properties. Very good material utilization - loss of material very less. Minimization or elimination of Machining.
Recycling and Re-utilization of Steel Plant Waste by using DOEYASH DALAL
Steel plays a vital role in the economy of any country. The resources of Iron ore and coal is limited. To have a sustainable development the process should be capable of operating at zero waste level. To achieve zero waste level the best practice is the recycling and re-utilization of steel plant waste. With the aim to
increase the recycling of fine sludge and dust, cold bonded pelletizing is done. Since many binders are available for cold bonding pelletization, hence binder selection is very important. The experiments conducted with organic and inorganic
binders gives mixed results. The results were not reflecting any specific trend which can be used to generalize the effectiveness of individual binder. As binder plays a significant role in economy of the process. Instead of random selection of
binder, a logical method can be used for getting the result. This work aims to present an orthogonal array by which binder can be selected for pellet making. Experimental work can be done in such a way that minimum number of experiment runs can give output as desired. For this, ’Design of Experiment’ methodology is applied to select the experiment runs. After the selection of
orthogonal array and experiment combinations, Taguchi technique can be used to analyze the results. Minitab software is used for analyzing the result using taguchi analysis.

COMPARISON OF MAIN EFFECT OF VEGETABLE OIL AND AL2O3 NANOFLUIDS USED WITH MQL...IAEME Publication
The growing demands for high productivity of machining need use of high cutting velocity and feed rate. Such machining inherently produces high cutting temperature, which not only reduces tool life but also impairs the product quality. Application of cutting fluids changes the performance of machining operations because of their lubrication, cooling, and chip flushing functions. But the conventional cutting fluids are not that effective in such high production machining, particularly in continuous cutting of materials likes steels. So Nanofluids have novel properties that make them potentially useful in heat transfer medium in cutting zone and Minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) presents itself as a viable alternative for turning with respect to tool wear, heat dissipation, and machined surface quality.

Hierarchical Digital Twin of a Naval Power SystemKerry Sado
A hierarchical digital twin of a Naval DC power system has been developed and experimentally verified. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.

Final project report on grocery store management system..pdfKamal Acharya
In today’s fast-changing business environment, it’s extremely important to be able to respond to client needs in the most effective and timely manner. If your customers wish to see your business online and have instant access to your products or services.
Online Grocery Store is an e-commerce website, which retails various grocery products. This project allows viewing various products available enables registered users to purchase desired products instantly using Paytm, UPI payment processor (Instant Pay) and also can place order by using Cash on Delivery (Pay Later) option. This project provides an easy access to Administrators and Managers to view orders placed using Pay Later and Instant Pay options.
In order to develop an e-commerce website, a number of Technologies must be studied and understood. These include multi-tiered architecture, server and client-side scripting techniques, implementation technologies, programming language (such as PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and MySQL relational databases. This is a project with the objective to develop a basic website where a consumer is provided with a shopping cart website and also to know about the technologies used to develop such a website.
This document will discuss each of the underlying technologies to create and implement an e- commerce website.
Online aptitude test management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
The purpose of on-line aptitude test system is to take online test in an efficient manner and no time wasting for checking the paper. The main objective of on-line aptitude test system is to efficiently evaluate the candidate thoroughly through a fully automated system that not only saves lot of time but also gives fast results. For students they give papers according to their convenience and time and there is no need of using extra thing like paper, pen etc. This can be used in educational institutions as well as in corporate world. Can be used anywhere any time as it is a web based application (user Location doesn’t matter). No restriction that examiner has to be present when the candidate takes the test.
Every time when lecturers/professors need to conduct examinations they have to sit down think about the questions and then create a whole new set of questions for each and every exam. In some cases the professor may want to give an open book online exam that is the student can take the exam any time anywhere, but the student might have to answer the questions in a limited time period. The professor may want to change the sequence of questions for every student. The problem that a student has is whenever a date for the exam is declared the student has to take it and there is no way he can take it at some other time. This project will create an interface for the examiner to create and store questions in a repository. It will also create an interface for the student to take examinations at his convenience and the questions and/or exams may be timed. Thereby creating an application which can be used by examiners and examinee’s simultaneously.
Examination System is very useful for Teachers/Professors. As in the teaching profession, you are responsible for writing question papers. In the conventional method, you write the question paper on paper, keep question papers separate from answers and all this information you have to keep in a locker to avoid unauthorized access. Using the Examination System you can create a question paper and everything will be written to a single exam file in encrypted format. You can set the General and Administrator password to avoid unauthorized access to your question paper. Every time you start the examination, the program shuffles all the questions and selects them randomly from the database, which reduces the chances of memorizing the questions.

Tribological response of fresh and used engine oils 1
1. INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (ISM),
DHANBAD
SEMINAR PRESENTATION ON
TRIBOLOGICAL RESPONSE OF FRESH AND USED
ENGINE OILS:
THE EFFECT OF SURFACE TEXTURING,
ROUGHNESS AND FUEL TYPE.
Presented by: Nagesh Dewangan
M.Tech. 1st Year, MET
Admn. No.:17MT001503
2. Introduction
Internal Combustion Engines (ICEs) are significant source of friction.
Engines are becoming more powerful due to improvement in oil formulation, surface
finishing and development of new materials but friction losses are still high 11.5%.
Major part of friction occurs in bearing (60%) and remaining (40%) in cam, gear and
differential etc.
Boundary Lubrication cause significant loss..
Fig 1: Specific film thickness and Speed vs stroke length
3. Literature Survey
As in case of boundary lubrication, solid lubricants are used such as MoS2, PTFE, Carbon,
Diamond etc.
Surface properties were used to evaluate the effect of surface roughness and texture on
MoS2 formation.
MoS2 is dispersed in the oil as MoDTC.
Formation of MoS2 requires nascent metal surfaces.
Different lubricating oils were used for the experiment.
4. Literature Gap
As simply using Base Oil tries to increase friction due to increase in plasticity.
So, we have to add some material into it so as to reduce friction.
Other oils such as gasoline and ethanol tries to reduce friction but its oxidation is
high.
5. Objective
To find the best lubricant for the lubrication purpose.
To evaluate the effect of new and used oil on engine lubrication.
To find effect of surface texture on lubrication.
6. Method and Material
Tribotests
Oil analysis is done using an Optical Instrument (Ball on Disk arrangement).
Test is carried out for 20min with 3ml of oil on the surface of disc.
Temperature is about 40 OC with 35N of force.
Reciprocating motion of 5mm stroke and 10Hz frequency.
Fig 2: Tribometer Ball on Disk
7. Method and Material
Test Specimens
Ball – AISI 52100 Bearing Steel, Disk – AISI H13 Tool Steel
Smooth and Rough surface finishing of disk.
2D profile within a Hertzian Contact Width (┴ and ═) on the lay.
Tested Lubricants
Base Oil, a Commercial engine oil (5W30-SM),
Used Oils (5W30E22 and 5W30E100).
Main properties are Kinematic viscosity,
Plasticity Index, Specific film thickness, TAN,TBN.
Oil is analysed using Atomic Emission Spectroscopy.
8. Results
Lubrication and Contact Mechanics
Hertzian Contact take place where maximum contact pressure for ideally smooth surface are
under surface hardness. PO=1.51GPa, H=6.42GPa.
Oil Analysis
SM generation oils are tested for fuel economy test.
FEI is tested with reference oil (Base Oil).
Fig. 4. FTIR spectra of 5W30, 5W30E100, 5W30E22,
E100 and E22.
Fig. 3. Real area of contact vs. plasticity index.
9. Results
Friction Coefficient Measurement
COF vs Test Time at temperature 40 OC for smooth and rough surfaces.
Fig 5: Smooth surface: COF versus time Fig 6: Rough surface: COF versus time
10. Discussion
Friction Response: Rough Surface
Mechanism of friction mechanism depends primarily on the roughness geometry of the harder
material, which represents the mean asperity slope.
Friction Response: Smooth Surface
Adhesion component of friction increases as plasticity index decreases.
Effect of Texture Direction on additive activation
The higher asperity deformation allows for the removal of surface oxides.
Oxide free surfaces, as stated before, have been indicated as a requirement to the reaction by which
MoDTC forms MoS2.
11. Conclusion
For very low specific film thickness values(Λ⪡1) and high plasticity index (ψ⪢1)(rough surface),
the friction values depend on the harder body.
Formation of MoS2 films were shown to be dependent on the sliding direction of anisotropic
surfaces; resulting in friction reduction of E 100%.
Aged oils showed COF values similar to those obtained with base oil. This behavior is attributed
to MoDTC depletion or oxidation.
Gasoline contaminated oils were more oxidized than the ones contaminated with ethanol.
Scope
• There is no evidence of high copper and lower Fe and Al in 5W30E22.
• Reason for formation of MoS2.
• Hematite and Magnetite are found in 5W30E100 and Base oil.
• What is the effect of texture on MoS2 formation.
