Beamforming for millimetre-wave (mmWave) frequencies has been studied for many years. It is considered as an important enabling technology for communications in these high-frequency ranges and it received a lot of attention in the research community. The special characteristics of the mmWave band made the beamforming problem a challenging one because it depends on many environmental and operational factors. These challenges made any model-based architecture fit only special applications, working scenarios, and specific environment geometry. All these reasons increased the need for more general machine learning based beamforming systems that can work in different environments and conditions. This increased the need for an extended adjustable dataset that can serve as a tool for any machine learning technique to build an efficient beamforming architecture. Deep MIMO dataset has been used in many architectures and designs and has proved its benefits and flexibility to fit in many cases. In this paper, we study the extension of collaborative beamforming that includes many cooperating base stations by studying the impact of User Equipment (UE) speed ranges on the beamforming performance, optimizing the parameters of the neural network architecture of the beamforming design, and suggesting the optimal design that gives the best performance for as a small dataset as possible. Suggested architecture can achieve the same performance achieved before with up to 33% reduction in the dataset size used to train the system which provides a huge reduction in the data collection and processing time.
Construction Management (CM) has to deal with a variety of uncertainties related to Time, Cost, Quality, and Safety, to name a few. Such uncertainties make the entire construction process highly unpredictable. It, therefore, falls under the purview of artificial neural networks (ANNs) in which the given hazy information can be effectively interpreted in order to arrive at meaningful conclusions. This paper reviews the application of ANNs in construction activities related to the prediction of costs, risk, and safety, tender bids, as well as labor and equipment productivity. The review suggests that the ANN’s had been highly beneficial in correctly interpreting inadequate input information. It was seen that most of the investigators used the feed forward back propagation type of the network; however, if a single ANN architecture was found to be insufficient, then hybrid modeling in association with other machine learning tools such as genetic programming and support vector machines were much useful. It was however clear that the authenticity of data and experience of the modeler are important in obtaining good results.

CL-SA-OFDM: cross-layer and smart antenna based OFDM system performance enha...IJECEIAES
The growing usage of wireless services is lacking in providing high-speed data communication in recent times. Hence, many of the modulation techniques are evolved to attain these communication needs. The recent researches have widely considered OFDM technology as the prominent modulation mechanism to fulfill the futuristic needs of wireless communication. The OFDM can bring effective usage of resources, bandwidth, and system performance enhancement in collaboration with the smart antenna and resource allocation mechanism (adaptive). However, the usage of adaptive beamforming with the OFDM leads to complication in the design of medium access layer and which causes a problem in adaptive resource allocation mechanism (ARAM). Hence, the proposed manuscript intends to design an OFDM system by considering different switched beam smart antenna (SBSA) along with the cross-layer adaptive resource allocation (CLARA) and hybrid adaptive array (HAA). In this, various smart antenna mechanism are considered to analyze the quality of service (QoS) and complexity reduction in the OFDM system. In this paper, various SA schemes are used as per the quality of service (QoS) requirement of the different users. The performance analysis is conducted by considering data traffic reduction, bit-rate reduction, and average delay.

Funding agencies such as the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the Transportation Research Board (TRB) of The National Academies make their online grant databases publicly available which document a variety of information on grants that have been funded over the past few decades. In this paper, based on a quantitative analysis of the TRB’s Research In Progress (RIP) online database, we explore the feasibility of automatically estimating the appropriate funding level, given the textual description of a transportation research project. We use statistical Text Mining (TM) and Machine Learning (ML) technologies to build this model using the 14,000 or more records of the TRB’s RIP research grants big data. Several Natural Language Processing (NLP) based text representation models such as the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA), Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) and the Doc2Vec Machine Learning (ML) approach are used to vectorize the project descriptions and generate semantic vectors. Each of these representations is then used to train supervised regression models such as Random Forest (RF) regression. Out of the three latent feature generation models, we found LDA gives the least Mean Absolute Error (MAE) using 300 feature dimensions and RF regression model. However, based on the correlation coefficients, it was found that it is not very feasible to accurately predict the funding level directly from the unstructured project abstract, given the large variations in source agencies, subject areas, and funding levels. By using separate prediction models for different types of funding agencies, funding levels were better correlated with the project abstract.
Channel encoding system for transmitting image over wireless network IJECEIAES
Various encoding schemes have been introduced till date focusing on an effective image transmission scheme in presence of error-prone artifacts in wireless communication channel. Review of existing schemes of channel encoding systems infer that they are mostly inclined on compression scheme and less over problems of superior retention of signal retention as they lacks an essential consideration of network states. Therefore, the proposed manuscript introduces a cost effective lossless encoding scheme which ensures resilient transmission of different forms of images. Adopting an analytical research methodology, the modeling has been carried out to ensure that a novel series of encoding operation be performed over an image followed by an effective indexing mechanism. The study outcome confirms that proposed system outshines existing encoding schemes in every respect.
TOP 10 ROUTING PAPERS: RECOMMENDED READING – NETWORK RESEARCHIJCNCJournal
In mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), links are created and destroyed in an unpredictable way, which makes quite challenging the determination of routes between each pair of nodes. Influence of various application types on the performance of LTE mobile networksIJECEIAES
Modern mobile internet networks are becoming heavier and denser. Also it is not reg- ularly planned, and becoming more heterogeneous. The explosive growth in the usage of smartphones poses numerous challenges for LTE cellular networks design and implementation. The performance of LTE networks with bursty and self-similar traffic has become a major challenge. Accurate modeling of the data generated by each connected wireless device is important for properly investigating the performance of LTE networks. This paper presents a mathematical model for LTE networks using queuing theory considering the influence of various application types. Using sporadic source traffic feeding to the queue of the evolved nodeB and with the exponential service time assumption, we construct a queuing model to estimate the performance of LTE networks. We use the performance model presented in this paper to study the influence of various application categories on the performance of LTE cellular networks. Also we validate our model with simulation using NS3 simulator with different scenarios.

Network selection based on chi-square distance and reputation for internet o...IJECEIAES
The internet of things (IoT) has become one of the most important technologies of the 21st century. The IoT environment is composed of heterogeneous IoT communication networks. These technologies are complementary and need to be integrated to meet the requirements of different types of IoT applications that require the mobility of the IoT device under different IoT communication networks. In this paper, the vertical handover decision method is considered to select the appropriate network among different IoT technologies. So, IoT devices, equipped with several radio technologies, can select the most suitable network based on several criteria like quality of service (QoS), cost, power, and security. In this work, a multi-attribute decision-making algorithm (MADM) based on techniques for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution (TOPSIS) that uses chi-square distance instead of Euclidean distance is proposed. The network reputation is added to reduce the average number of handoffs. The proposed algorithm was implemented to select the best technology depending on the requirements of the different IoT traffic classes. The obtained results showed that our proposition outperforms the traditional MADM algorithms.

Optical network is an emerging technology for data communication
inworldwide. The information is transmitted from the source to destination
through the fiber optics. All optical network (AON) provides good
transmission transparency, good expandability, large bandwidth, lower bit
error rate (BER), and high processing speed. Link failure and node failure
haveconsistently occurred in the traditional methods. In order to overcome
the above mentioned issues, this paper proposes a robust software defined
switching enabled fault localization framework (SDSFLF) to monitor the
node and link failure in an AON. In this work, a novel faulty node
localization (FNL) algorithm is exploited to locate the faulty node. Then, the
software defined faulty link detection (SDFLD) algorithm that addresses the
problem of link failure. The failures are localized in multi traffic stream
(MTS) and multi agent system (MAS). Thus, the throughput is improved in
SDSFLF compared than other existing methods like traditional routing and
wavelength assignment (RWA), simulated annealing (SA) algorithm, attackaware RWA (A-RWA) convex, longest path first (LPF) ordering, and
biggest source-destination node degree (BND) ordering. The performance of
the proposed algorithm is evaluated in terms of network load, wavelength
utilization, packet loss rate, and burst loss rate. Hence, proposed SDSFLF
assures that high performance is achieved than other traditional techniques.

This paper simulates and investigates the performance of four widely-used channel estimation techniques for MIMO-OFDM wireless communication systems; namely, super imposed pilot (SIP), comb-type, spacetime block coding (STBC), and space-frequency block coding (SFBC) techniques. The performance is
evaluated through a number of MATLab simulations, where the bit-error rate (BER) and the mean square
error (MSE) are estimated and compared for different levels of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The simulation results demonstrate that the comb-type channel estimation and the SIP techniques overwhelmed the performance of the STFC and STBC techniques in terms of both bit-error rate (BER) and mean square error (MSE).

An effective transmit packet coding with trust-based relay nodes in VANETsjournalBEEI
Vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs) are characterized by limited network resources such as limited bandwidth and battery capacity. Hence, it is necessary that unnecessary use of network resources (such as unnecessary packet transfers) is reduced in such networks so that the available power can be conserved for efficient multicast communications. In this paper, we have presented a Transmit Packet Coding (TPC) Network Coding in VANET to ensure reliable and efficient multicasting. With network coding, the number of transmitted packets over the network can be reduced, ensuring efficient utilization of network devices and resources. Here, the trust-based graph optimization is performed using Cuckoo search algorithm to select the secure relay nodes. The experimental results showed the superiority of the presented approach compared to the existing techniques in terms of throughput, latency, hop delay, packet delivery ratio, network decoder outage probability, and block error rate.
Intelligent black hole detection in mobile AdHoc networksIJECEIAES
Security is a critical and challenging issue in MANET due to its open-nature characteristics such as: mobility, wireless communications, self-organizing and dynamic topology. MANETs are commonly the target of black hole attacks. These are launched by malicious nodes that join the network to sabotage and drain it of its resources. Black hole nodes intercept exchanged data packets and simply drop them. The black hole node uses vulnerabilities in the routing protocol of MANETS to declare itself as the closest relay node to any destination. This work proposed two detection protocols based on the collected dataset, namely: the BDD-AODV and Hybrid protocols. Both protocols were built on top of the original AODV. The BDD-AODV protocol depends on the features collected for the prevention and detection of black hole attack techniques. On the other hand, the Hybrid protocol is a combination of both the MI-AODV and the proposed BDD-AODV protocols. Extensive simulation experiments were conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithms. Simulation results show that the proposed protocols improved the detection and prevention of black hole nodes, and hence, the network achieved a higher packet delivery ratio, lower dropped packets ratio, and lower overhead. However, this improvement led to a slight increase in the end-to-end delay.
Trust correlation of mobile agent nodes with a regular node in a Adhoc networ...IJECEIAES
A mobile agent offers discrete advantage both in facilitating better transmission as well as controlling the traffic load in Mobile Adhoc Network (MANET). Hence, such forms of network offers maximized dependencies on mobile agents in terms of its trust worthiness. At present, there are various work being carried out towards resisting security breach in MANET; however approaches using mobile agent based mechanism is few to found. Therefore, the proposed system introduces a novel mathematical model where an extensive decision making system has been constructed for identifying the malicious intention of mobile agents in case they go rogues. By adopting multi-tier communication policy and fairness concept, the proposed system offers the capability to resist any form of malicious activity of mobile agent without even presence of any apriori information of adversary. The outcome shows proposed system outshines existing security scheme in MANET.

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.

10. CODING SCHEMES FOR ENERGY CONSTRAINED IOTDEVICES

ABSTRACT
This paper investigates the application of advanced forward error correction techniques mainly:
low-density parity checks (LDPC) code and polar code for IoT networks. These codes are under
consideration for 5G systems. Different code parameters such as code rate and a number of
decoding iterations are used to show their effect on the performance of the network. LDPC is
performed better than polar code, over the IoT network scenario considered in the work, for the
same coding rate and the number of decoding iterations. Considering bit error rate (BER)
performance, LDPC with rate1/3 provided an improvement of up to 2.6 dB for additive white
Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel, and 2 dB for SUI-3 (frequency selective fading channel
model). LDPC code gives an improvement in throughput of about 12% as compared to polar
code with a coding rate of 2/3 over AWGN channel. The corresponding values over SUI-3
channel are about 10%. Finally, in comparison with LDPC, polar code shows better energy
saving for large number of decoding iterations and high coding rates.

ABSTRACT
Graph is a powerful mathematical tool applied in many fields as transportation,
communication, informatics, economy, … In ordinary graph the weights of edges and vertexes
are considered indepently where the length of a path is the sum of weights of the edges and the
vertexes on this path. However, in many practical problems, weights at a vertex are not the
same for all paths passing this vertex, but depend on coming and leaving edges. In the article
[2], a kind of weights, called switch cost, is defined. The papers [3-6] study multicomodity
flow problems in ordinary networks. The papers [3-6] study multicomodity flow problems in
extended networks, where switch costs are defined for mixed graphs. The papers [12,13]
develops a model of extended linear multicommodity multicost network and studies the
maximal linear multicomodity multicost flow problems. The papers [14,15] study the maximal
multicomodity multicost flow limited cost problems. Model of extended linear
multicommodity multicost network can be applied to modelize many practical problems more
exactly and effectively. The presented paper studies the maximal concurent linear
multicomodity multicost flow problems, that are modelized as implicit linear programming
problems. On the base of dual theory in linear programming an effective aproximate
algorithms is developed.
