The document provides details on a proposed short horror film called "The Babysitter". It would follow an 18-year-old babysitter named Emily watching over two children, Jack and Kate, whose parents go out for the evening. Strange events begin occurring, with the TV changing channels on its own and a creepy clown appearing outside. In the climax, Emily discovers the children are missing and is attacked by the clown. The film is targeted at teenagers and would be distributed on YouTube to reach this audience. It explores themes of kidnapping and slavery through a family who takes the babysitter captive after attacking her.
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

1. Treatment idea 1
Working title - The title is going to be “the babysitter” this is because the main
character is going to be the babysitter but the title still doesn’tgive too much
away. Also I think this will intrigue teenagers as many of them will be
babysitters to get extra money so they might feel that it is targeted at them.
Tagline - The tagline is going to be “be carefulwho you babysitfor” this is
because it hints that something bad will happen to the babysitter. Also I think
this tagline will appeal to the target audience as many of them will be
teenagers who babysitto make a bit of money.
Length – the length of my film will be less than 10 minutes as it is going to be a
shortfilm. I think it will probably be about 7-8 minutes. I want to keep my film
quite shortso viewers don’tlose interest and stop watching. So I’ll keep it
shortand havea lot going on to keep them interested and on their feet.
Key characters –The main character is the babysitter. I picked Emily as her
name as sheis 18 so was born in 2000 and Emily was the mostcommon baby
name in 2000. I chosethemost common baby name as she is justa common
girl. She is a smartgirl who is working to savemoney for university as her
family aren’t that rich. She is grade D in the nrs social grade as she is an
unskilled worker. Sheis a mainstream in the 4c’s this is because sheis normal
and justlike everyone else. The dad is called Paul he is the manager of a big
accountant company in London so he is gradeA on the NRS social grade on the
4c’s he is a succeeder as he has high self-confidenceand can sometimes have
an aggressiveattitude to life. The mother is called Karen she doesn’twork as
she looks after her children so sheis a grade E on the NRS scale as she doesn’t
work. Sheis also a succeeder as she is organised and her core motivation is
control. The son and daughter who is called jack and Kate. I picked these
names as I feel like they are normal common names which makes the audience
think they are normalpeople which will make the plot twistseem even more
unexpected.
Act One – the film starts off in the children’s bedroomwith them playing with
the toys. Itthen cuts to the mother who is in the hall who yells at the dad to
hurry up. There is then a ring on the door bell. The mother opens the door and
the new babysitter is there. The mother invites her in and yells at the children
to come downstairs. Thechildren run downstairs and the boy is still holding his
toy. The mum introduces the babysitter to the children. She then yells at the
2. dad again to tell him to hurry up and she says “whatareyou doing up there?”
hinting something is going on. He then comes down stairs. The parents send
the children up to bed, tell the babysitter to call them if something goes wrong
and then leave to go out for their meal.
Act two – it is a little bit later in the night and it is dark outside. The babysitter
is sat alone in the lounge watching TV and drinking her drink and the children
are upstairs sleeping. The TV channel changes but shejust puts it down to the
signal. She then goes to grab her drink but it has disappeared. She goes to look
for it in the kitchen and the little boy is juststood in the kitchen staring at her
and her drink is on the side. She thinks that he is sleep walking so she walks
him back to bed. The parents’ bedroomdoor is slightly open and shehears
someone in there so shepushes the door open slowly butthere is no one in
there. The babysitter then goes downstairs to watch the TV and it is on a static
screen. And there is a creepy looking clown stood outside juststaring at her.
Act Three – the babysitter calls the parents saying there is a clown stood in the
garden staring at her. The mum says to lock all the doors and get to the
children and that the parents are juston their way home. The babysitter locks
all the doors then run upstairs to get the children but they aren’tin their room.
She calls them and walks around the house looking for them and shehears
noises coming fromthe basement. She goes into the basementand the
children are stood in the corner looking at the wall. The boy still has his toy.
The babysitter says thatthey got to get somewheresafe becausethere’s a
clown outside and then she gets smacked over the head with a spadeand it
was the clown. The next shotis the babysitter waking up in a locked room.
They kidnapped the babysitter so they could keep her as a slave.
Target audience – I feel as though the main audience for this film is teenagers.
This is becausemany teenagers like horror films and like being scared. I also
feel as though becausethe film is called the babysitter they will be able to
relate to it as most teenagers havebabysitted to get pocketmoney. I am going
to reach my target audience by posting the film on YouTube as most teenagers
use YouTube to watch videos. I will also promote my film on social media sites
such as Facebook and twitter as most teenagers use social media sites every
day, so it would be easy to reach them. On the nrs social grade scalethey
would be D’s as they would have a job but wouldn’tbe highly skilled, so they
wouldn’thave that much money. On the 4c’s they would be a mainstream as
they are normal and justlike everyoneelse.
3. Form and style – I am going to shootthis film in the winter time. I wantit to be
raining and really dark outside to add to the horror suspense. I am going to
record on a hand held camera but I might use a tripod in some scenes justso
the camera is steady. I am going to make surethat the pans and camera
movement is slow to add to the suspenseand I will have slow editing as well. I
am going to add in suspensefulmusic so I can achieve the horror genre
especially at the points whereI want to create tension.
Marketplace –as this film is a horror it appeals to a broad audience so
therefore I think that it will do better if it was posted on YouTube instead of
getting premiered at the cinema as I think that becauseit would be free to
watch it would get more views and people would shareit round. I think that
there is a chance of a prequel which would focus on the family after they have
kidnapped the babysitter to be a slaveand I think that’d make a good crime
film.
