This document discusses the transformation of energy between different forms. Energy can exist in many forms, such as potential, kinetic, electrical, and heat energy. The transformation or change from one type of energy to another is known as the transformation of energy. Examples provided include potential energy transforming to kinetic energy when a ball rolls down a hill or divers transforming their potential energy just before entry into water. Hydroelectric power generation involves the transformation of potential energy of water into kinetic energy as it falls, which then transforms into electrical energy. Thermal power plants similarly involve chemical energy first transforming into heat energy and then into kinetic and electrical energy forms.

Energy exists in

The change of

energy into

energy is known
as transformation
of energy.

3. Examples of transformation of
energy
There are many examples of
transformation of energy:-
• A ball held at height has only potential
energy. When the ball is released from a
height, then the potential energy of the ball
is gradually transformed into KINETIC
ENERGY.
• In fun-fair ride called Pirate Ship. Kinetic
energy is changed into potential energy and
back into kinetic energy.
• A high Dive an example of transferring
potential energy of the diver into kinetic
energy.

4. Hydroelectric energy
Hydroelectricity is the
term referring
to electricity generated
by hydropower, the
production of electrical
power through the use of
the gravitational force of
falling or flowing water.
In Hydroelectric power house, Potential Energy is
transformed into Kinetic Energy and then into
Electrical Energy.

5. Energy transformation at
Hydroelectric Power House
Water has lots of potential energy but as such this potential energy Is of
no use to us. If however water is aloud to fall from this great height ,
the potential energy of water changes into kinetic energy. The kinetic
energy of falling water is used to drive huge turbines which are connected
to electricity generators for producing electricity.

the electricity which is
produced when chemical
energy is converted to
heat energy and then to

electrical energy.
