It is a first Class Pedigree product that is futuristic and timely and has been validated by recognized experts
- The idea of the Tower Garden is the brainchild of Tim Blank who is the owner and president of Future Growing. Tim worked for Disney’s Epcot center(an acronym for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow) in Orlando, Florida. At Epcot, Tim used his education in horticulture and training in hydroponic agriculture to manage Epcot’s agricultural showcase of food crops from around the world. Tim was responsible for Epcot’s futuristic, cutting-edge agricultural display, which is open 365 days a year, utilizing hydroponics and sustainable growing practices from around the world. In 2005 he left Epcot and partnered with several, other international experts in the hydroponic field to launch a one of a kind company called Future Growing, LLC. In 2011, Juice Plus+ purchased the rights to market and sell the residential Tower Garden growing system to home users through their Juice Plus distributors.
- By doing so Juice Plus+ is broadening the Juice Plus+ brand to include Tower Garden by Juice Plus+. What you’re looking at is the brand new Tower Garden logo. And a sampling of what produce the Tower Garden can generate. A picture is worth a thousand words and this product does not disappoint in that regard. But the Tower Garden pictures thankfully aren’t locked in an advertisement or simply living on the Internet. Thanks to the way we do business, your customers can experience it…they can smell it, hear it, feel it, taste it…it hits all the senses and really becomes an emotional sell. Perfect for a direct sales model. But that’s just one of the reasons that after all these years we choose the Tower Garden to broaden the JP brand. But we didn’t go into this blindly…we asked some tuff questions first.
- Questions such as: Is there a market for it? The answer is a resounding yes. Today there is an explosive interest in gardening and especially in rooftop gardening in the metropolitan areas. The #1 reason people are gardening is that they are concerned with the poor nutrition in their food, pesticides, and atmospheric contaminants such as acid or toxic rain. A lot of commercially grown produce lacks the nutrition, taste, safety and appeal of fresh organic produce. Another reason that people are gardening is to save money. Food prices are escalating today at an alarming rate. A Locavore movement is happening all across this country..” This term means “buying and eating locally grown produce, not produce that is grown and shipped from far away locations such as China where the quality control is questionable at best. Also by buying locally the money is kept in the community and turns over at least seven times benefiting the local community. Food can be grown on apartment balconies, business rooftops, patios, schools, senior centers and almost anywhere that sun is available. This movement is very “Green” or environmentally friendly and sustainable. This technology recycles 100% of its water and nutrients Sustainable gardening is a growing movement now. It helps to maximize land usage, conserves water and other natural resources.
- Sustainable growing is really the core of Tim’s vision for the Tower Garden technology and his company Future Growing, focuses on the commercial side of vertical, aeroponic growing. One of these commercial enterprises is the newly opened Tower Garden Urban Farm in North America’s second busiest airport – Chicago’s O’Hare, where almost 70 MILLION people take off and land each year. The garden is located on the 2nd level of the Rotunda area of the airport . It is a fully functioning indoor vertical, aeroponic garden made up of 26 Tower Gardens that produce fresh fruits and vegetables for airport restaurants. Several news stations were there to capture the Grand Opening. Why did the city of Chicago and O’Hare airport choose to use the Tower Garden technology? Because it is the clear technological leader in the nascent commercial aeroponics market.. The good news is that even more Future Growing installations are coming. They will all use the same technology as the TG that we’ll discuss in this presentation. When you combine this technology with the publicity it’s receiving from Future Growing installations – we’ve got a real opportunity to enhance the Juice Plus+ brand in a new and exciting way.
- But, even with all this, we knew we needed to test the product with some of our leaders first. So, we selected a cross section of NMDs and a few others, from all over the country and let them try their hand at vertical growing. The feedback was interesting, and in some cases humorous, but it was overwhelmingly positive. Even Jay himself participated and wouldn’t you know, Jay would end up with arguably the most bountiful supply of tomatoes out of any of us…Oh, and that was from one plant..only! He had that much success! The company has a short video to share some of the feedback we received. Even those who were skeptical came out understanding why this is a good fit for our business and why it enhances our Juice Plus+ story. And best of all how it can spur activity, attract new team members, and create added momentum.

- Let’s focus on how the Tower Garden works. Seeds for the Tower Garden ™ are started in a natural rock fiber seeding cube. Seeded cubes can be placed in a covered bio-dome for 24–48 hours, allowing the seeds to germinate quickly and evenly with very little, if any, seed loss. The bio-dome is then opened and germinated seeds are placed outside in full sun for a week or two where they develop into hardy seedlings ready for transplanting into the Tower Garden ™ . Next the transplants are inserted into the tower garden pods which are attached to the main vertical column on the Tower garden. The Tower Garden ™ has a reservoir or storage tank at its base. This reservoir stores the Tower Tonic Ionic Mineral Nutrient Solution. Inside the reservoir is a small, low wattage submersible pump. The pump draws the nutrient solution up through the center of each TG column all the way to the top. From there, the nutrient solution drips through a special device that evenly cascades the nutrient solution over the plant roots. On the journey down the tower, the nutrient solution feeds the plants’ roots and becomes highly oxygenated as gravity tumbles it back down to the reservoir. This process is continually repeated providing fresh oxygen, water, and nutrients to the roots on the plants.
