In the 20 or so years since I joined the tech community, I moved from an attitude of "please leave me alone in my cube to code and whatever you do don't talk to me!" to well, giving talks on the importance of communication in the software world. The tools and techniques I've come to know and love have changed over time, but a few things have remained constant.
1) Communicating openly and honestly at all times is HARD
2) Speaking from a place of vulnerability is RIDICULOUSLY HARD
3) Without 1 and 2 you're going to really struggle to be an effective and happy member of ANY software team
OK, there's a 4th thing.
4) The days of working alone in your cube like a hermit are largely over for software folks. It really doesn't have to suck. I swear it doesn’t.
During my brief time with you, I’m going to rumble with some touch topics and share some of my own embarrassing and enlightening stumbles. It will include things like delivering “bad news” to your client/manager/team and feeling good about it, managing conflict with others in healthy and productive ways, and delivering feedback without feeling like you (or the receiver) will vomit. These things are all very possible, and not that hard to master once you have some key tools and insights in your tool belt.

Digital Marketing Tools to Provide Exemplary Customer ServiceMaura Neill
What does real estate marketing look like in today’s world? Marketing has changed dramatically in the past decade, and we’ve entered a new frontier. Reaching clients and potential customers used to be a costly venture – with long printing wait-times and pricey postage. Today, online marketing options offer us a free way to keep in touch with our current spheres and reach potential new clients, but the rules are different. This new school of marketing, with its multitude of social media platforms and opportunities, requires a new kind of marketing savvy and can be overwhelming to navigate. This course teaches you how to combine tools like Facebook and YouTube (and more!) along with email marketing and blogging, with the tried-and-true marketing techniques you already know.
There is a presupposition in NLP (Neural Linguistic Programming) that states, "The map is not the territory."
We all create a map of the world based on our experiences, world view, beliefs, traumas, etc.
Just as no single map charts every building, ditch, road, house, hazard, etc., no one's personal map truly reflects reality.
Our maps are filtered. If we walk through life thinking we have the true map of life's journey, we will only suffer through it.
Spend time learning other people's map. Share your map with others. It's the only way we can build a more accurate view of the territory of life.
These are some super powerful tools for sales, prospecting, design and everything in between!

2. LeadIQ - Research your prospects, find their contact data, and save them into your CRM, all in on click.
3. Hunter.io - Find email addresses in seconds.
4. Colorzilla - An eyedropper tool that can be used to grab any color on any website.
5. WhatFont - Just like Colorzilla but for fonts. Find any font on any website.
6. Toby - Organize your browser tabs and access key resources in one click instead of seven.
7. Ghostery - Block ads, stop trackers and speed up websites.
This Could Have Been Shorter: The surprising difficulty of making things simpleRodney Hess
I would have written a shorter post, but I did not have the time.
Making things simple is surprisingly difficult. You need to spend the time distilling your message to its core. Cut excess.
Make it as simple as possible—but no simpler.
Being accurate, clear and concise is hard. You need to spend the time to make it look easy.
The Only Three Qualities to Look for When HiringRodney Hess
We only look for 3 main qualities when we hire at Rally Marketing. Are they humble, hungry and smart? And also a bit of a misfit...
If they meet these, we know they'll fit in culturally.
1) Are they humble? Meaning to they have little ego and give credit more than accept it. They need to focus on the team before themselves.
2) Are they hungry? If they have a strong work ethic and get sh*t done.
3) Are they smart? And not intellectually but inner-personally. They need to understand group dynamics and know how to read a room.
Everyone will be deficient in one of these. the importance is if they recognize which one. For example, I'm not the most humble person in the world (SHOCKER).
If you're one of the 70% of people who don't find satisfaction in your job, find your 5-to-9!
Yout 5-to-9 is your back door. It's what lights you up.
It's when you go from what you're doing to what you do.
Make your job fund your dream and your light will start burning brighter.
There's no excuse for cold, informal prospecting anymore.
You have a number of tools at your disposal that can make your one-on-one communications more not only easier but more valuable to both you and the prospect.
Be more thoughtful. Be more effective.
Stop cold calling and start warm calling.
(post inspired by Jackie Hermes)
Be skeptical of gurus that claim they have the secret to success!
Just because it worked for them doesn't mean it'll work for you.
Don't be a victim of survivorship bias.
Focusing only on stories of success leaves an incomplete picture of what caused that success.
For every Gary Vaynerchuck, there are 1,000s of wannabes who try to copy him and fail. His strategies are solid. They worked for him. It's worked for others.
But that doesn't mean it'll work for you! Ask "Why?" Not "How?"
And be aware of author agendas (including mine ).
When my partner in crime (and business), Laurel Hess, was considering quitting her job to start her own agency, she was—understandably—scared.
Her friend had one thing to say: "Then do it scared."
Without that one simple piece of advice, we would not be here with a kickass team and a kickass company.
Fear and excitement are essentially the same emotion.
So next time you're feeling scared, tell yourself it's just excitement clouded by doubt.
And then do it scared.

How to Create a Month of Content Without Writing a Single WordRodney Hess
Is it possible to create an entire month of content without having to write a single word? YES.
Monthly events are not only a fantastic way to get your brand out there and set yourself up as an industry thought-leader, but they are full-on content generators.
How?
Put on a regular monthly event and collect email addresses of your attendees
Record the event and upload the video to social
️ Isolate the audio and use it for a podcast
✍️ Transcribe the audio, clean it up and use it for a blog post
Chop up the blog post into a ton of social posts
✉️ Send email recaps to your attendees
It's as easy as that! This strategy allows you to take your local efforts and scale them up to a global effort.
Start creating!
Procrastinators view productivity as some nebulous concept that is as far outside their reach as the moon is to a mite. But with focus and practice, productivity can be learned.
Here are a few carefully curated secrets to productivity that even the most last-minute procrastinators can learn.
The lessons in this presentation were summarized from Charles Duhigg’s book, “Smarter, Faster, Better.”

Exploring Factors Affecting the Success of TVET-Industry Partnership: A Case ...AJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT: The purpose of this study was to explore factors affecting the success of TVET-industry
partnerships. A case study design of the qualitative research method was used to achieve this objective. For the
study, one polytechnic college of Oromia regional state, and two industries were purposively selected. From the
sample polytechnic college and industries, a total of 17 sample respondents were selected. Out of 17
respondents, 10 respondents were selected using the snowball sampling method, and the rest 7 respondents were
selected using the purposive sampling technique. The qualitative data were collected through an in-depth
interview and document analysis. The data were analyzed using thematic approaches. The findings revealed that
TVET-industry partnerships were found weak. Lack of key stakeholder‟s awareness shortage of improved
training equipment and machines in polytechnic colleges, absence of trainee health insurance policy, lack of
incentive mechanisms for private industries, lack of employer industries involvement in designing and
developing occupational standards, and preparation of curriculum were some of the impediments of TVETindustry partnership. Based on the findings it was recommended that the Oromia TVET bureau in collaboration
with other relevant concerned regional authorities and TVET colleges, set new strategies for creating strong
awareness for industries, companies, and other relevant stakeholders on the purpose and advantages of
implementing successful TVET-industry partnership. Finally, the Oromia regional government in collaboration
with the TVET bureau needs to create policy-supported incentive strategies such as giving occasional privileges
of duty-free import, tax reduction, and regional government recognition awards based on the level of partnership
contribution to TVET institutions in promoting TVET-industry partnership.

ABSTRACT: Although a significant amount of literature exists on Morocco's migration policies and their
successes and failures since their implementation in 2014, there is limited research on the integration of subSaharan African children into schools. This paperis part of a Ph.D. research project that aims to fill this gap. It
reports the main findings of a study conducted with migrant children enrolled in two public schools in Rabat,
Morocco, exploring how integration is defined by the children themselves and identifying the obstacles that they
have encountered thus far. The following paper uses an inductive approach and primarily focuses on the
relationships of children with their teachers and peers as a key aspect of integration for students with a migration
background. The study has led to several crucial findings. It emphasizes the significance of speaking Colloquial
Moroccan Arabic (Darija) and being part of a community for effective integration. Moreover, it reveals that the
use of Modern Standard Arabic as the language of instruction in schools is a source of frustration for students,
indicating the need for language policy reform. The study underlines the importanceof considering the
children‟s agency when being integrated into mainstream public schools.

ABSTRACT: This research aims to examine how ESG disclosure and risk disclosure affect the total risk of
companies. Using cross section data from 355 companies listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange, data regarding
ESG disclosure and risk was collected. In this research, ESG and risk disclosures are measured based on content
analysis using GRI 4 guidelines for ESG disclosures and COSO ERM for risk disclosures. Using multiple
regression, it is concluded that only risk disclosure can reduce the company's total risk, while ESG disclosure
cannot affect the company's total risk. This shows that only risk disclosure is relevant in determining a
company's total risk.

The Challenges of Good Governance and Project Implementation in Nigeria: A Re...AJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT : This study reveals that systemic corruption and other factors including poor leadership,
leadership recruitment processes, ethnic and regional politics, tribalism and mediocrity, poor planning, and
variation of project design have been the causative factors that undermine projects implementation in postindependence African states, particularly in Nigeria. The study, thus, argued that successive governments of
African states, using Nigeria as a case study, have been deeply engrossed in this obnoxious practice that has
undermined infrastructure sector development as well as enthroned impoverishment and mass poverty in these
African countries. This study, therefore, is posed to examine the similarities in causative factors, effects and
consequences of corruption and how it affects governance, projects implementation and national growth. To
achieve this, the study adopted historical research design which is qualitative and explorative in nature. The
study among others suggests that the governments of developing countries should shun corruption and other
forms of obnoxious practices in order to operate effective and efficient systems that promote good governance
and ensure there is adequate projects implementation which are the attributes of a responsible government and
good leadership. Policy makers should also prioritize policy objectives and competence to ensure that policies
are fully implemented within stipulated time frame.
