|This socioeconomic class has high expectations placed on them to do well. This can have both a

Roanoke Colony Research Paper
Introduction It was generally assumed that Roanoke would become the first of many permanent
English settlements in the New World; however, those assumptions would prove false after the
colonists who travelled there disappeared under mysterious circumstances. For over 400 years, the
mystery of the Lost Colony has endured in the Chesapeake region of America and has yet to be
definitively solved. Beginning in the 1580s, a series of ventures and ill fated colonization attempts
laid the context and set the stage for the greatest vanishing act in American history. From supply
shortages and unfavorable weather, to misunderstandings and violent interactions with the
indigenous people all three attempts to settle at Roanoke Islandwere thwarted in one fashion or
another. The third colonization attempt would not prove to be a charm for England, as these 118
colonists disappeared with little evidence of what had happened to them.
Background
There were several factors that influenced Queen Elizabeth I of England to grant Sir William
Raleigh a charter to colonize North America on March 25, 1584 (Mallios p.59). Tensions between
the English and Spanish governments were strained at the time that this charter was granted.
England and Spain hoped to achieve several, competing goals by colonizing the New World. ...

THE UNDERLYING ISSUE BEHIND RUSSIA S PREVAILING COMPENSATION SYSTEM
2)
Performance and Membership Pay: Will the compensation
emphasize in the performance or in the membership one has with the company? Unfortunately, in
the Russian Tourism industry it is more dependent on the membership with the company than
the actual performance of individuals (Puffer and Shekshnia, 1997). 3) Job and Individual Pay:
Is the pay dependent on the quality and quantity of job an employee is doing, or on the skill set
the employee has, that he brings along with him to the company? According to my experience, in
Tourism industry the pay is based on the performance of an employee, not on the skills. 4) Open
and Secret Pay: Will the employees have access to information about other workers compensation
levels and how are compensation decisions been made (open), or will this stay hidden from the
employees (secret). As being confirmed from my colleagues in the Russian Tourism industry a mix
of both, open as well as secret pay system, is practiced.

Abstract An experiment was undertaken to isolate and identify the seed borne fungi of Green gram.
Seed samples of three Green gram varieties were collected from Pulse research station, NAU,
Navsari. PDA plating method was employed for the isolation of the fungi and cultural, microscopic
study was adopted for the identification. Altogether nine fungi were found in association Viz., M.
phaseolina, A. alternata, C. capsici, N. sphaerica, Chaetomium sp., Aspergillus sp., R. oryzae,
sterile aseptate and sterile septate fungus with all the three variety seed lots.

Introduction
Green gram (Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek) is one of the most important pulse crop of the arid and
semiarid tropics (Chen et al., 1987). It is an excellent source of easily digestible protein. Several
factors are responsible for low production of Green gram. Among them, diseases play an important
role (Nene, 1980; Pal, 1996). Many fungal pathogens, some of which are seed transmitted, often
reduce the germination ability or kill the infected plants or substantially reduce the productive
capacity. However,

Rama Navami Rama Navami is one of the most popular, sacred festivals known to Hindu
tradition. It celebrates the birth of Lord Rama, as well as the marriage between him and his
consort, Sita. Rama is known for being noble, wise, kind, and ultimately a perfect god. Rama
Navami celebrates the epic, Ramayana, because it tells the story of the great hero, Rama. There are
many traditions that take place during the festival each year. These customs include spiritual,
dietary, musical, and religious practices. Rama Navami is also significant to each of those customs
in numerous ways.
The great Hindu festival, Rama Navami takes place in honor of Lord Rama, or Ramachandra.
Rama is the eldest son of Queen Kausalya and King Dasharatha, ruler of the ancient city, Ayodhya.
Lord Rama was born in around noon in 5114 BC in Ayodhya. He is believed to be the seventh
incarnation of Vishnu, while he is also known as one of Vishnu s oldest avatars to have a human
form. Rama is remembered for his greatness, and that is widely demonstrated in the Hindu epic,
Ramayana, where he is the protagonist. Throughout Hinduism, Rama is referred to as Maryada
Purushottama , which translates to Perfect Man or Lord of Virtue . He is highly recognized and
looked up to throughout Hinduism, therefore Rama Navami became one of the most popular
festivals. Rama grew older and married Sita, who is considered to be an avatar of Lakshmi. Since
he is a perfect being,

Analysis Of Shirley Jackson s The Lottery
There is a great deal of tension about the ritual that surrounds the Lottery traditions in Shirley
Jackson s short story, The Lottery. Out of fear and superstition, the lottery ceremony continues
to exist. In short, the lottery is more of a tradition rather than a ritual at the point we witness in
the story, but out of respect and fear for tradition, the towns folks are more than willing to
commit an act of mass violence, simply for the sake of a tradition. Born in San Francisco,
California on December 14, 1916, Shirley Hardie Jackson was born to Leslie and Geraldine
Jackson. Jackson was raised in quite a traditional and well off household, which helped develop
themes for later short stories. (Alessio 114) As a young child Jackson loved the subject of
witchcraft, and she often spent hours reading various books. She spent a decent amount of her
childhood writing poetry and short stories, and eventually moved up north and attended the
University of Rochester. (Biography.com) After completing her first year of college, Jackson
decided to take a year off and focus on her literature work before moving to a new college;
Syracuse University. During her brief pause in her education Jackson would at a minimum, write
a thousands of words a day to improve her work. Once the two were married, Hyman received a
job as a professor at Bennington College in North Bennington, Vermont where the two settled and
also modeled the setting for her well known short storyThe Lottery. On June

Drug Use In Professional Sports
For many years athletes have been using drugs to enhance and provide better performance for
themselves and for their team. Most drugs were introduced to players by fellow teammates and
team doctors. Expanding from professional sports to minor league sports, including college and
high school sports. The use of drugs isn t as prevalent in the Midwest as it is to the East and West

society, but also, the older crowd. Sports teams and leagues enforce the band of any drug that

spirit of the sport. First time used in 1889 by Pud Galvin, performance enhancing drugs were
started by experimentations on animal testicles: pigs, dogs, rabbits, cows, and sheep. The great
epidemic of doping started after WWII when soldiers turned to drugs for support because of
wounds and weakness of the body. The World Anti Doping Association was created to stop the use

Jane Goodall
Goodall vs. American Medical Association Over the centuries, the evolution from ape to man and
its surroundings has changed. Cavemen did everything in their power to survive. Survival of the
fittest was said by Charles Darwin. Humans today are interested in how to fix world problems.
Such as, diseases that don t currently have vaccines or cures. To search for answers, experts were
led to animals. Their fascination towards animals has heightened over the course of millennium
years. That curiosity eventually led to animal testing. Many people have different opinions when it
comes to using animals for scientific research. The real question is, should animals be tested at all?

of using animals for testing is for the greater good. Using animals to help the survival of the new
generations has come a long way. Scientists rely heavily on animals to conduct experiments to

Winter Fog Causes And Disadvantages
During the cold winter of Delhi, the 5 year olds smokes on an average 2 packs of cigarettes per
day. This smoking problem is not confined to 5 year olds, but every Delhiite who is exposed to
the hazardous winter fog endures a damage equivalent to 2 packs of cigarettes. Delayed flights
and trains, school closures, black outs, accidents on highways has become a norm during winter
in the past 20 years. Apart from the economical losses, a major health impact in the form of a
decrease in lung function and acute respiratory diseases is affecting the 18.6 million citizens of
Delhi. Recently, the Delhi government had declared a public health emergency owing to the
poor air quality, which features often in very poor and severe category, according to the Air
Quality Index (AQI) consistently during these winters. The presence of fine particles, indicated
by PM 10 and PM 2.5 in AQI, contributes to the poor quality of the air and is the major cause for
fogs. Sources of these fine particles vary from the emissions from industrial and automobile
emissions to the sand particles transported by global winds. 2 Origins of the winter fog The
beginning of winter in Northern India, marked by the largest festival known as Diwali, is the end
of the rice harvesting season. The residue stubble on the fields at the end of the rice harvesting
season doesn t hold any economic value, hence the farmers resort to burning of 70 80 million
tonnes of the stubble. Similarly as the temperatures approach freezing temperatures, the general
public rely more on bio mass burning for heating, warmth and cooking purposes. Further, the
industrial complexes draw more thermally generated electric power and hence leading to an
increase of coal emissions. These aerosols from outside the city gets transported and adds into the
fine particle sizes from the automobile emissions and road dust generated within the city. And the
fine particles serve as sites of condensation, forming misty droplets that doesn t settle. 2A 2020
vision for Delhi Subin Thomas Apart from the sites for condensation, the conditions for the
formation of fog are abundant supply of moisture and the increase of temperature with height. Both
of this secondary conditions are satisfied by

Preventing Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections

Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections Urinary tract infections are one of the most hospital
acquired infections in the country. With so much technology and evidence based practice, why is
this still an ongoing problem worldwide? Could it simply be the basics of hygiene or just patient

or prevent hospital associated urinary tract infections. In these articles you will find the use of
different interventions that will aid in lowering the risk of these hospital acquired infections. In the
first article, the author s goal is too reduce urinary tract infections by implementing an evidence

working together as a team to reduce the urinary tract infections. The nurse driven protocol is what

Gender Roles Peter Pan
Gender Roles in Peter Pan J. M. Barrie s Peter Pan tells the story of the boy who never grew up.
Barrie paints Peter as an extraordinary character living in a mystical world called Neverland,
flying through the air, and fighting villainous pirates. He is also the boy who takes a young girl
named Wendy from England back to Neverlandwith him. The interaction and interdependence of
Barrie s two characters, Peter and Wendy, symbolize and spread cultural genderstereotypes by
mirroring the stereotypes embodied by the adult characters in the story Mr. and Mrs. Darling and
by reflecting the ideas of gender roles of the time and foreshadowing the children s understanding of
reality and expectations, as well as their eventual maturation.
Wendy s father, Mr. Darling, sets the prime example for adult male stereotype. Barrie
characterizes him as the breadwinner of the Darling family and a proud businessman. Throughout
Barrie s insight into his character, the reader observes him insist upon respect and obedience from
his children and wife; and even the family dog. In one instance, Mr. Darling even boasts to Wendy
that his wife, Mrs. Darling, not only loves him, but more importantly, respects him. This attitude as
displayed by the character of Mr. Darling as the most prominent adult male influence can be argued
to be associated with the male stereotype in many ways. Mr. Darling s character in the text supports
the culturally stereotypical view of the male gender as the

Birdsong and Journey s End
Compare the ways Sherriff presents the main character of Stanhope in Journey s End with Faulks
presentation of Stephen in Birdsong
Both Journey s End by R.C. Sherriff and Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks portray their main
characters of Stanhope and Stephen in several different ways. These include their ability as a
leader, the way that they are introduced, how they are affected by the war and their troubled
relationships with women. The contrast between the different forms of literature and the time
periods that they were both written in could also affect the overall presentation of the characters,
as Sherriff is relying on his own memories and Faulks is relying on accounts. This could alter how

Faulks could have written him like this to show the transformation in the character between the
years, due to the loss of Isabelle and what he has seen during the war. These events may have left
Stephen unable to socialise with the men and prove himself as a key figure of authority.
Stanhope is visibly affected by the war, because he drinks, becomes angry with the men and
shows a detachment towards everyday life. This could show his cowardice towards war. He tells
Osborne that Whenever I look at anything nowadays I see right through it. This could be
showing Stanhope s general attitude towards war, as his years of experience could have shown
him exactly what the war was really like. By drinking to disguise his cowardice, Stanhope could
also be drowning out his true feelings. Sherriff could have written him like this to portray how a
soldier coped with the pressures of the war. This could show the audience the true reality of the
war, because he seems to show the deterioration of Stanhope throughout the short time period of
the play. In contrast to this, Stephen feels disgusted by the war, but he seems curious as to what
will happen. He tells Weir that I am deeply curious to see how much further it can be taken. This
could show Stephen s general interest in the war, even though he also seems to hate it. An
inquisitive nature is implied here, as Faulks could have written him to

Psychoanalysis Of Psychoanalysis
Psychoanalysis was founded by Sigmund Freud to make the unconscious conscious. His aim was
to gain insight into the unconscious and repressed thoughts, feelings and motivations of people in
order to help them understand. Freud focused on bringing the repressed internal conflict (such as
development issues or trauma) to a conscious place where the person can easily deal with it. Art
is one way in which the individual can express his deepest thoughts by unravelling one s inner
feelings, making them visible and vulnerable. When a work of art is created by an artist it reflects
his/her beliefs and morale which in turn helps us understand and interpret it more clearly.
Frida Kahlo
55 works out of 143 paintings by Frida Kahlo have been devoted to her self portraits. This has led
analysts to believe that these expressions of art were important to the artist herself and not
particularly created for the pleasure of others. Self portraits are mostly associated with
psychoanalysis because they reflect mental complexities and in Kahlo s case are an indicative of
the ups and downs in her life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike her other paintings, she paints herself with short hair and in men s clothes (probably
Rivera s judging from the size). This is her way of identifying with Rivera by using short hair as
a symbol to represent her husband. This mental imagination formed in her unconscious is a sign
of great loss in her life. In Freudian psychoanalysis, what the individual emphasize through his
words and imaginations is what has been absent in his real life and reaching it appears to be
difficult. This work by Kahlo shows a loss of her beloved, whom she has sought to fill in her mind
through the short hair. He relates this to the early childhood oral stage stating the artist is

Aboriginal Discrimination And Aboriginal People
Overview
For many centuries the original inhabitants of Canada, the Aboriginals, have suffered at the hands
of the government. From unrightly abducting their land to racial discrimination and forcing them to
comply with Euro Canadian culture, Indigenous people had every right to be enraged. Indigenous,
or Aboriginal people is a title given to the original settlers and their descendants of North America.
Indians (or First nations), Metis and Inuit, are 3 groups of distinct peoples with unique histories,
languages, cultural practices and spiritual beliefs, and it is unfair to call them one. In Canada today,
more than 1.7 million people identify themselves as an Aboriginal person. Amongst the many first
nations communities here in Canada, The Algonquin people are the most recognized since their
historic land deal with the federal and provincial government back in October 2016. Originally
living in southern Quebec and eastern Ontario, today, Algonquin people have adapted to living in
urban communities across these areas. Due to the changing in lifestyle, aboriginal people have had
to adjust. To them land is much more than something you buy and own, it s the thing that governs
their spirituality intertwining their lives deeply with nature. With a switch in the way they feed
themselves, clothes themselves, and protect themselves, it is destined for them to feel a sense of
emptiness in their hearts. Most of Crown owned land has still to be returned today, and the loss of

Analysis Of The Movie House
When I stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie house, I had only
two things on my mind: Paul Newman and a ride home. Everything in my life had been
improving! Darry and I rarely fought, instead of tension, there was a connection. Even though he
never said it, I could tell he felt it too. I was still thinking about Johnny a ton (it had been 7
weeks since he had died), but I had accepted that he wasn t with us physically. I kept him in my
heart, and instead of grieving, I remembered all of our fun times together. Moving on, school
was better than ever. After I turned in my essay, it made its way up to the school board. They sent a
copy home with each kid, so the parents would know what really happened. The truth was
revealed, and I made some good buddies, who didn t care if I was a Greaser, or a Soc, or a middle
man. My grades were back to straight A s and Darry was as proud as can be. I had to quit track, in
order to make time for football. I m was and still am the starting running back on my high school
footballteam, and Darry had just quit one of his jobs, when he got offered the position of head
coach. He was still fixing roofs, and coaching football at the same time. Darry was happy, he had

We often see satire in our everyday lives such as on televisions, novels, and music; but why is
satire used? Satire is a form of writing used to denounce human vice, giving readers an insight on
the flaws that the author sees in society. There are two different types of way to present satire:

The author uses horation to point out the lack of respect towards prostitutes, although they have
a lewd job, they should be treated as ladies. In turn, Don Quixote is once again made a dunce for
his actions, conveying instead that kind actions are wasteful and will only make one look half
witted. A Modest Proposal on the other hand, used juvenalian satire which was too serious to
fully grasp the idea Jonathan Swift wanted to show to the readers. Juvenalian satire, quite the
opposite of horation, is a specific attack on a individual or human behavior. Swift addresses the
solution to the poverty in Ireland in a manner so blunt he sounds somewhat serious about a young
healthy child...stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled Swift targets his attack on the Irish and
exaggerates how far the Irish would go for money (2030). A reader, may not notice that this
human characteristic, greed, applies to all mankind. Swift in other cases offends the British as
well. Swift suggests his proposition so wildly for the British will accept it. However, this only

One of the main issues brought up in putting this sort of product out to the public is the privacy
issue. There is somebody who knows where the user is, every second of every day. With this,
great deal of privacy and security is at risk. This kind of knowledge is very tempting for those
who may not have the best intentions. Management may misuse or sell the information that the
product provides. People have almost no protection from businesses that want to use your
personal records for profit, so who is to stop them from doing it? The GPA can be used to
develop precisely targeted information concerning thier personal habits. Hackers also may be
able to access information for their own personal gain. Another issue brought up is the reliance on
databases. A slight error in the information can have a major effect on somebody s life. It is
extremely difficult to detect inaccurate information in databases. There have been many cases of
database errors ruining people s lives. Is it right to record somebody s personal information when
there is room for human error?

Relationship Between Henson And Peary
Matthew Henson and Robert Peary had a strong relationship. They both had a need for
exploration, fame, and danger, and Henson s need is one of the reasons he started traveling with
Peary. The two men met when Henson was working at a clothing and hat store, when Peary
walked in and offered him a job. This job was to be his personal servant while he was on an
expedition in Nicaragua. Peary was going to head an engineering team to see about the possibility
of digging a canal across Nicaragua. Henson later wrote that he saw qualities in Peary that made
him want to participate in his services. After that expedition, Peary approached Henson with an
idea. He wanted to raise money to go to the arctic and wanted Henson to go with him. On their

Essay on Standardized Test
Standardized Test Standardized test have been a means measuring student performance. Some
important questions that always come up regarding standardized test are what are the tests really
measuring? Are they measuring a person s intelligence? Their ability to perform well on
standardized tests? Or just some random quantity of the person s IQ? When examining the issues
around which these tests are given and the content of the tests themselves, it becomes apparent that
however useful the tests may be for standardizing a group s intellectual ability, they are not a good
indicator of intelligence.
To issue a truly standardized test, the testing environment should be the same for everyone
involved. A person s environment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What about physical intelligence, conversational intelligence, social intelligence, survival
intelligence, and the others that go into everyday life? Why are these important traits not figured
into intelligence tests? Standardized tests certainly get predictable results where academics are
concerned, but they should not be considered good indicators of general intelligence because of
the omissions they make in the testing process. To really gauge a person s intelligence, it would
be necessary to put them through a rigorous set of real life trials and document their
performance. The standardized IQ tests of today are test only a limited quality of a person s
character that can hardly be referred to as intelligence. Standardized test also have no way to
compensate for cultural differences. Different cultures have different methods of solving problems,
and speediness is not always the best way to tackle a problem. Therefore the time limitations on
standardized test are a major drawback.
The reasons that IQ tests fail at their task can be separated into two main groups. The first grouping
is where the tests assume too much. Examples of this are the assumption that speed is always good,
vocabulary is a good indicator of intelligence, and that different test taking environments won t
affect the outcome. The second grouping comes because the tests gauge the wrong items. Examples
of this are different culture groups being asked to take the

The most popular options for MRSA infections include vancomycin, teicoplanin (see Marcone and

The incidence of HA and CA MRSA infections as well as the prevalence of different MRSA
clones varies considerably among countries. Some MRSA clonal lineages are more frequently
isolated than others owing to their superior survival and transmissibility. The HA MRSA is
endemic in many hospitals worldwide. The CA MRSA has a smaller fitness burden, higher
transmissibility and virulence compared to HA MRSA and is epidemic in many countries.

The Impact Of Flash And Cloud On The Enterprise Applications
This paper describes impact of flash and cloud on the enterprise applications. The new technologies
increase the flexibility. A Flash drive is a data storage device which uses the solid state memory to
store data insistently. It illustrates the common practices in the enterprise storage array design and
trade offs. It offers improvement in the enterprise storage systems with the random and sequence I

storage capacity comes down regularly. The latency with the rotational speed and seek of the disk
access arm have being improved slightly. Enterprise applications, database, financial analytics, data
warehousing, data mining, virtual desktop infrastructure and virtual machine deployment all these
requires high performance infrastructure and security based storage systems. The existing systems
consume more time to load and slow down its speed. Organizations are upgrading the technological
systems to the flash and cloud environment and offers security to the data storage in the cloud using
the new encryption techniques. This paper illustrates about the business impact of cloud computing
such as tax, marketing and sales, vendor lock in, tax, internal audit and finance. Business officials,

In the article Recall of Anti Tobacco Advertisements and Effects on Quitting Behavior: Results from
the California Smokers Cohort the authors try to research if anti tobacco television advertisements
with personal message can be recall by the person and have a greater impact on smoking cessation.
The authors felt that this was an important topic to study because they were concern about the
dangers of smokingtobacco. According to Leas et al. (2015) Nondaily smoking and second hand
smoke exposure can lead to the same negative health consequences that result from daily smoking
(p.90). As a result, the authors engage in a cohort study where they use anti tobacco advertisements
to see which advertisement has a greater recall on smokers, and haves greater effect on smoking
cessation.
The authors engage in a Cohort study, because this study is being observed for a long period of
time and data is being collected from a group of people who are current smokers. The researchers
are testing what happens to the person that has been expose to a particular anti tobacco ad. There
are 4 ads; Stages, Don t stop fighting, Trapped, and The Emerging Men. The specific kinds of data
the authors use to answer their research questions was the follow ups and the interviews. These data
was collected through advertisement recall, quitting behavior, and covariates. The advertisement

Compare And Contrast Romeo And Juliet Movie
There were many different aspects of each Romeo and Juliet movie that made all three versions
equally different, exciting, and heartbreaking. First off, in the Zeffirelli version, the producers did
a wonderful job of setting the movie to really reflects how Shakespeare wrote his play. For
example, the movie was set in Verona during the Elizabethan Era, and the clothing and way of
speaking to one another fully represented the old times. Also the casting for this movie was
excellent, Olivia Hussey(Juliet) was very cute and fit the role perfectly, as well as Leonard
Whiting (Romeo) who played his part very well. Lastly, the balcony scene was very sweet and
showed how much Romeo and Juliet loved each other after knowing the other for less than a day.
This movie was made so well that there is really no negative aspects to it. It is simply made and
beautiful, but the Elizabethan language is quite hard to understand, as it should be. Next, in the
movie starring Leonardo Dicaprio, the producers did an excellent job of making Claire Danes
(Juliet) look very young. She wore little makeup and had a flat chest, which represents what a
thirteen year old would probably look like back then. Also, the way they filmed the scene on
Romeo s death was incredible. The producers really showed how someone would react to
watching their loved one die. The only aspect that was a little confusing, was how the characters
used guns called swords instead of actually swords. But in keeping their

Sobibor Death Camp Research Paper
R
Throughout the course of the Holocaust there were major rebellions at 3 of the 6 death camps
(death camps were concentration camps that carried out mass killings under the SS). Treblinka,
Sobibor and Auschwitz Birkenau all had major uprising by inmates. Although the methods used by
inmates in each case vary, they all share a common theme: they were caused by desperation from
the imminent presence of death.
The uprising at the Treblinka camp was triggered by a series of German military defeats
bringing the camp closer to liberation by allied forces. The Jewish prisoners knew that if the
allies came close to the camp the SS would liquidate all of the inmates and destroy the camp to
hide any evidence of the atrocities committed within. After careful planning and the discovery and
suicide of the original resistance leader, an escape was made. 300 inmates broke free of the
barbed wire fences as resistance fighters attacked the guards. During the SS lead manhunt that

better than most prisoners and had many special privileges because they needed to be in good

going on and routinely gassed the entire unit every few months. Eventually a plan was made and
the Sonderkommandos attacked and killed 11 SS officers and seized the camp armory. The
uprising was soon discovered and the inmates had to run. About half of the original prisoners
made it out of the camp but most were killed by the surrounding minefield or recaptured by SS

The Eruption of Mount Pinatubo
The Eruption of Mount Pinatubo
On the 15th June of 1991, the second largest volcanic eruption of the twentieth century took place
on the island of Luzon in the Philippines, 90 km northwest of the capital city Manila. It was also,
by far, the largest eruption to affect a densely populated area. Mount Pinatubo, a stratovolcano, is
part of a chain of volcanoes along the Luzon arc on the west coast (refer map). The arc of
volcanoes is due to the subduction of the Manila trench to the west. The mountain has a very huge

And a level 5 alert triggered evacuation of the 20В–40 km zone on the 14th of June. For the people
who weren t willing to leave the area, a video showing the extreme hazards of the eruption was
played to convince them of the dangers of the eruption. Also, on the 10th of June, the military
finally issued evacuation orders and the 18,000 Clark Air Base personnel along with their families
were transported to Subic Bay Naval Station (most were returned to the US). In total, the authorities
were able to evacuate 200,000 people.
From June 7 to 12, SO2 gas emissions, which had increased tenfold from May 13 to May 28,
suddenly decreased. The US government wanted definite answers so the USGS geologists went to
the site to look for evidence. They monitored the SO2 emissions for two weeks and the results
indicated that either the volcano had postponed its attack or that the chamber was blocked and the
magma was pressurizing within the volcano.
The Eruption
On the 12th of June (Philippine Independence Day), millions of cubic yards of gas charged
magma reached the surface and resulted in the first major eruption which was then followed by a
series of eruptions. It produced a 19 km long ash column and pyroclastic flows that extended up to
four km from the summit to the river valleys. Later, a 15 minute eruption hurled ash straight up to
the sky, reaching the heights of 24 km. The super heated air and the friction between

These are a few advantages of using email as a source of communication within the workplace.
However, emails do also have its disadvantages if they are not produced effectively.
Following on from the advantages, it also comes with some disadvantages, the biggest being spam
emails which contain links to malicious content, potentially stealing or corrupting a company s
database. There can be misinterpretation throughout an email and accidental forwarding or leaking
of personal information about oneself or company. But it can also lead to cyber bullying through
threats that can be sent by a fake email address.
Malicious content sent through emails are heavily disguised and usually luring you to an

usernames and passwords are stolen. There are many different types of virus, many steal
information and use it for personal gain, such as stealing money. But others can corrupt data, which
for some companies can be the worst possible outcome. Although many times the emails are
obvious, some employees may be fooled by the extreme links causing a chaotic fest within the
workplace. Even a virus that causes a computer to malfunction

The group will be free to go about everything as they please. There might as well not be a leader
present at all when it comes to a laissez faire leader. It will be difficult for a group with this type
of leader to stay on task, especially when the group comes across a problem or conflict. The
leader will not step up and take action, and the group members might not be capable of getting
through this obstacle. Right in the middle of the authoritarian and laissez faire leaders is the
democratic leader. The climate provided by a democratic leader will be more desirable compared
to those of the other two styles of leadership. Allowing the group to reach a consensus rather than
a leader making all of the decisions, will give the members of the group a sense of belonging.

Developing Private Label Between China And Uk Essay
In recent years, due to the change of own profit model, high inflation, increasing operating costs and
competition from online commerce, traditional retail businesses have grown slowly in China.
Chinese retail business, especially supermarkets need to be transformed and updated. Developing
private label brands is one of the most efficient ways to realise supermarkets transition and
updating, it could reduce costs and improve supply chain system. However, the development of
supermarket private labelin China is only in start up stage now which leaves plenty of scope to
learn from mistakes and successes from other businesses. The British retail market is the second
largest in Europe, and has the highest profit margins in the world. Its supermarket private label has
developed into a mature stage (Zhen, 2007). Since there are limited studies in the area of analysing
the gap between British and Chinese supermarket in developing private label, this study will help
to stop the gap in literature study of comparing the development of private label between China and
UK. In addition, it may predict the future developing trend of Chinese private label and benefit
Chinese supermarket managers on how to introduce more successful strategies of private label
products in further development on the basis of British experience.

money changes everyone. In Willa Cather s Paul s Case , Paul is a teenage misfit who lives in a
Pittsburgh neighborhood. The love of money is put on such a high pedestal that it consumes
Paul and the way which he lives. Everything he does is influenced by his desire for wealth. His
love for theater and art becomes an addiction and drive him to steal money and retreat to New

he is the victim of his own demise and takes his own life. Paul s obsession with theater, luxury
and the dystopian society he lives in are the reasons for his isolation and loss of life. Willa Cather

society. In his job, Paul works as an usher in Carnegie Hall. The narrator states, As the house filled,
he grew more and more vivacious and animated, and the color came to his cheeks and lips. It

King Arthur Archetypes
Roger Lancelyn Green portrays King Arthur as an archetypal hero in King Arthur and his
Knights of the Round Table. A literary archetype is a universal symbol that can describe a type of
character or patterns of human nature that show up in many different types of literature
(Archetypes). When thinking of an archetypal hero there are many things that can describe this
type of character such as having a mother that is pure, unusual birth, being rased by foster
parents, little is known of the heros childhood, ends up returning to his or her kingdom, takes on
the roal of king or queen, has to defeat a ruler or beast, falls in love with prince or princess, not
much happens while they are the ruler, the gods lose faver in him or her, his or her death is
mysterious, and has a sepulcher(Nelson 4). King Arthuris a great example of an archetypal hero.

We will choose to do an online and mobile survey, these two types have a very small cost. The
cost of getting a response is far less than the cost of administering a paper survey or phone
survey, and the number of potential responses can be in the thousands, which would be most
ideal. Surveys are very useful in describing the characteristics of a large population. A survey
provides a broad capability, which ensures a more accurate sample to gather targeted results in
which to draw conclusions and make important decisions about our NHL franchise. The
anonymity of surveys allows respondents to answer with more candid and valid answers. To get
the most accurate data, we need respondents to be as open and honest as possible with their
answers, especially if it is clearly stated that survey answers will remain completely confidential.
Secondly we want to do an observational study of the city. We will look into five ways to conduct
an observational study; natural vs. contrived settings, disguised vs. non disguised observation,
human vs. mechanical observation, direct vs. indirect observation, and structured vs. non structured
(Parasuraman, 1991). We believe each of these five methods is essential to truly understand our fans
and their behaviour.
When looking into doing a natural type of observational research we are wanting to understand our
fan in its natural habitat, or in the real life environment. This is

Plaintiff, Dobbie Brown, a minor child, has brought a cause of action with his parents, Michael
and Tina Brown against our client, defendant, Lawrence Vincent Smith for statutory liability
under Florida s dog bite statute. On October 31, 2009, around 9:30 p.m., Plaintiff, along with
seven other children came running up to our client s property to trick or treat. Plaintiff ran to the
glass window where owner s dog Beast was. Plaintiff began to pound on the window yelling,
Trick or Treat!! while Beast barked, ran back and forth and jumped around. Our client answered
the door a few minutes after he went to retrieve his hot biscuits from the oven. When our client
answered the door, the kids were screaming Trick or Treat at the top of their lungs. Plaintiff was
dressed up in a cat costume. When our client opened the door, and handed Plaintiff a biscuit,
Beast sprang up from the door and bit off Plaintiff s finger. Our client quickly restrained Beast,
wrapped up Plaintiff s hand along with the severed finger and took Plaintiff to the hospital where
doctors were able to successfully reattach the severed finger. Our client had purchased Beast about
eight months before the incident. The Beast is an eight to ten pound Yorkie who has bitten our
client s niece on a prior occasion, although the bite was minor. The Beast has been around children

How Does Ionic Boding Affect Melting And Boiling Point
Report on structure and bonding and how it effects the melting and boiling point across period 3
Covalent bonding is a bond where two or more atoms share electrons. The atom is unstable on its
own and is not willing to give and electron away, therefore they share, which makes them stable.
This can also be described are the molecules being held together by a strong covalent bond. An
example of this would be Hydrogen, on its own it is unstable, so it shares its only electron with
another, giving it a strong covalent bond. Hydrogen only has one electron, but requires two for its
outer shell, unable to give one away, they share. H + H = H2
Ionic boding is when an atom gives another electron to another to form an ionic bond. One atom
will donate an electron to another to fill its outer shell, that is held together by Electrostatic
attraction. These bonds involve Cations, which are positive Ions that are mostly metals and
Anions which are negative Ions that are mostly non metals. An example of this would be Sodium
and Chlorine. Sodium has one electron on its outer shell, Chlorine has seven electrons on its outer
shell. Chlorine needs eight electrons on its outer shell to make it stable. Sodium has a spare
electron, so will donate it to Chlorine. Na + Cl = NaCl ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Metals have a giant metallic lattice, this is described as electrons being close packed together,
known as a sea of positive delocalised electrons. A strong delocalised electron means that they are a
good conductor of electricity and can pass kinetic energy to each other. The electrons have a strong
electrostatic attraction, meaning they have a high melting point and the more electrons the higher
the melting point

Poverty In African America
The disproportionate rates of poverty among African americans has continued to be a persistent
social problem that the United States faces. The purpose of this article is to examine how poverty
has been approached in the media, specifically on the opinion pages of American newspaper.
Poverty is often explained in three different ways. The first explanation is blaming the person for
ending up in poverty. As people often associate poverty with a lack of responsibility and it has also
been noted that poverty is blamed on the poor when raceis involved. As the media shows the poor
are frequently the minorities and the African Americans, even though most welfare recipients are
white. The next explanation is the culture of poverty theory. The founder of this theory has said even

Over the span of 16 years this study took place. Examining newspapers such as The Washington
post, The Boston Globe, and The New York Times, in total resulting in 342 article pieces. Some
key coded factors were culture of poverty, the government, economic or structural inequality and
blaming the individual for being poor. Also coding for social categories counted to poverty such as
african americans, children, immigrants, and the elderly. The coding was very simple and straight
to the point. If the article talked about poverty in any way the coding would mentation a connection.
The coding was used to point what opinion pieces had to say about race and poverty. The final
result concluded 52 percent held the government responsible, 16 percent said the government did to
much with helping the poor. Putting the blame on the culture of poverty occurred 35 percent,
children mentioned as the poor came in at 55 percent and finally blaming poor individuals was
mentioned 21 percent of the time. It was stated in the article

How To Carry Concealed Weapons
My first article touches on the subject of concealed carry in the District Of Columbia.
Unlike other states and places that simply require you to desire to carry a concealed weapon, you
must provide reason such as domestic abuse or proof of stalking. A generalized fear of personal
safety is not valid. excuses such as past robberies and burglaries are still not valid as said by the
police chief. The police are they only people who can judge whether or not someone could be a
threat by looking at them.
The next article i read is about how to correctly carry a concealed weapon. They say that there
would be less crime if you didn t know who was carrying or not. This article also offers online

Catheter Malpositioning Case Study
Catheter malpositioning (I)
Our findings indicate that the use of the right internal jugular approach has the lowest incidence of
extrathoracic catheter tip positioning compared with the use of the external jugular or subclavian
routes. The present study has high statistical power and includes more right IJV cannulations
compared with previous smaller similar studies (Padberg 1981; Eisenhauer 1982; Sitzmann 1985;
Mansfield 1994; Yilmazlar 1997; Gladwin 1999; Molgaard 2004). These factors could possibly
explain our lower incidence of catheter malpositioning. The less straight intravascular route of
subclavian vein, EJV or left IJV catheters may partly explain their higher incidence of
malpositioning of the catheter tip. Further, although statistically ... Show more content on

Reports of vascular perforations during use of soft polyurethane catheters are rare, although
Duntley et al. described eight patients with pleural effusions, detected some days after insertion of
subclavian or, in one case, internal jugular venous catheter (Duntley 1992). In one of these patients,
the catheter tip seemed radiographically to be in an extravascular position at the time of clinical
diagnosis. The pleural space in each patient was nevertheless filled with the solution intended for
parental nutrition. In only one case, there was a return of blood through the catheter, possible
indicating that most catheters were placed into the pleura immediately at central venous
cannulation, possibly following guide wire induced vascular injury. Vascular perforation may
often be attributed to immediate cannulation associated injury (Kalen 1991; Robinson 1995), and
most morbidity from vascular CVC perforation is due to infusion of fluid into pleura or
pericardium (Duntley 1992; Collier 1995; Walshe 2007), although avoidable by careful aspiration
of blood, or (if no blood can be obtained) chest X ray with iv contrast injection, before clinical use.
Since any central venous catheter appropriately, according to tradition, positioned within the SCV
could be associated with vascular perforation knowledge

Prediction Of Home Prices Of A Metropolitan Area
Prediction of home prices. Using the above regression equation, one can determine the expected
home prices of a metropolitan area based on the median income of that area. For a metropolitan
area with income at 100,000, putting the value into the regression equation, one gets 2016 Median
Price to be 269.7 + 0.008357 * 100,000 = 269.7 + 835.7 = 566. The expected median home price =
$566,000.
Residual plots. Using Minitab, the histogram and the normal probability plot of the residuals are
shown in chart 2. The histogram shows the majority of the residuals are in the middle and centered
on the mean of zero, while the tails have a lower number of residuals, while in the normal
probability plot, the majority of the dots are close to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It appears that in earlier years 2011 and 2006, household income account for a larger portion of
the changes in home prices (around 64%) compared to the recent years from 2014 to 2016 (around
55%).
Does the relationship between income and home prices differ among metropolitan areas of
different sizes? Using the dotplot in chart 3, one can categorize the metropolitan areas base on the
number of households, into small (households less than 150,000), large (households = 350,000)
and medium (those in between). The sample numbers of small, medium, and large are 63, 57, and
54 respectively. Chart 3: Dotplot of number of households for each metropolitan area in 2016

Wi-Fi Local Area Network using RSSI (Received Signal...
Wi Fi Local Area Network using RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indication) value for
determining the position, accuracy, etc. RSSI is the relative received signal strength in a wireless
environment, in arbitrary units. It is implemented and widely used in 802.11 standards [24].
RSSI is an indication of the power level being received by the antenna. Therefore, the higher the
RSSI number (or less negative in some devices), the stronger the signal and in Received Signal
Strength Method reference receivers (GBSs) measure the carrier phase. The differential GPS can
improve location accuracy from about 20m to within 1m.[15] There is ambiguity resulting from
periodic property of the signal phase. There are more errors that can be caused due to... Show more

While it is not clear what the future of GLONASS will be, currently, it appears that there is
resurgence in the availability of GLONASS signals and receivers that can process these signals.
Despite the popularity of GPS, many users are interested in alternative systems. This is
motivated, in part, by the fact that GPS is a system operated and controlled by the U.S.
Department of Defense. As such, some users may want to retain a navigation capability that is
not solely GPS based. Another, more technical, motivation for this is due to the fact that GPS (or
any other GNSS) is a single system, and it is conceivable that a single failure can result in a
denial of service to a large number of users. Multiple GNSS may provide a level of redundancy
and, thus, an added degree of robustness to GNSS applications. The Galileo constellation is the
European Union s effort to provide both an alternative and a compliment to GPS. The first Galileo
satellite was launched in December 2005 and transmitted test signals shortly afterward. The
Galileo constellation is tentatively expected to become operational sometime after 2010.In
addition to GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo there are other GNSS currently in development, such as
the China s COMPASS constellation. This GNSS is being designed and implemented by China
and currently has a growing user base in that region. COMPASS is currently in its in orbit
validation (IOV) phase, with plans to be operational in the Asia Pacific region by

The Thousand And One Nights And The Decameron
Women used to be seen as below men and were not given equal opportunities that men were.
Authors started to write books and stories to show that women can be put in situations where they
break adversity and show their worth against men. Men used to believe that they were above
women at all times and that no matter what they could do what they would like to a womanand not
be questioned, and this is where genderroles and social norms started to be a huge factor in
everyday life. In both the thousand and one nights and the Decameron, women are seen as not
worthy of much and are seen as being downgraded in many situations. Even though certain social
norms and behaviors are portrayed in the thousand and one nights and the Decameron, there... Show

In the Decameron, women are viewed as powerless, but if the reader reads between the lines they
will see that women hold most of the power because the wife still gets her way and the husband is
left alone. The roles are evident for both men and women and that is whatever the man wants
usually is what happens, except for the suicide attempt. In both the Decameron and the thousand
and one night s women have certain roles set about women, which include that women are under
men and should always do what the man says.
In the thousand and one nights, women can be seen as degrading themselves while doing the act
of cheating. After King Shahrayar witness his wife cheating on him, he told his brother that No
one is safe in this world. Such doings are going on in my kingdom and in my very palace. Perish
the world and perish life! (560) This proved that he did not respect women anymore because his
wife was cheating on him in his own area, and this was a representation of his wife degrading
herself since she looked for other sources of love and feelings. The action of cheating showed that
women cheat on their husbands to take revenge because of the unfair and unrightfully treatment
that they are put through. After the cheating, the King sees down on women because of how he
was treated. This

My Favorite Experience In My Life
Pass. Set. Spike. Serve. Dig. I have heard these words surround me since I was young. Sports have
played an important part of my life since I was young taking a parent and me swim classes at the
local YMCA. I was that kid who played almost every sport out there, from karate to soccer to
basketball. Even after all that, it still took me still took me years to find my true passion as far as
sports go.
Both of my parents played volleyball growing up so it has always been in my life one way or
another. My two brothers couldn t care less about it, rather spending their days playing soccer and
video games.
All of a sudden, the first day of school, middle school, rolled around. My school offered a sports
program, so without hesitation, I had decided to sign up for volleyball because I wanted to try
something new and try to find an activity that would keep me happy and busy. Sixth grade flew
by and seventh soon came. As per the one year tradition, I signed up to play volleyball. This year,
I played on my school s varsity team.
Seventh grade was the year I tried out for club volleyball. My first year of club volleyball is
where I had some of the best and worst experiences of my life. My teammates are some of my
best friends, who I have known from previous sports our parents made us suffer through. This
team also happens to be one of the worst in the league, taking second to last place in the league. We
lose every tournament, much less every game. And everyone likes to win,

  • 3. Roanoke Colony Research Paper Introduction It was generally assumed that Roanoke would become the first of many permanent English settlements in the New World; however, those assumptions would prove false after the colonists who travelled there disappeared under mysterious circumstances. For over 400 years, the mystery of the Lost Colony has endured in the Chesapeake region of America and has yet to be definitively solved. Beginning in the 1580s, a series of ventures and ill fated colonization attempts laid the context and set the stage for the greatest vanishing act in American history. From supply shortages and unfavorable weather, to misunderstandings and violent interactions with the indigenous people all three attempts to settle at Roanoke Islandwere thwarted in one fashion or another. The third colonization attempt would not prove to be a charm for England, as these 118 colonists disappeared with little evidence of what had happened to them. Background There were several factors that influenced Queen Elizabeth I of England to grant Sir William Raleigh a charter to colonize North America on March 25, 1584 (Mallios p.59). Tensions between the English and Spanish governments were strained at the time that this charter was granted. England and Spain hoped to achieve several, competing goals by colonizing the New World. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unfortunately, in the Russian Tourism industry it is more dependent on the membership with the company than the actual performance of individuals (Puffer and Shekshnia, 1997). 3) Job and Individual Pay: Is the pay dependent on the quality and quantity of job an employee is doing, or on the skill set the employee has, that he brings along with him to the company? According to my experience, in Tourism industry the pay is based on the performance of an employee, not on the skills. 4) Open and Secret Pay: Will the employees have access to information about other workers compensation levels and how are compensation decisions been made (open), or will this stay hidden from the employees (secret). As being confirmed from my colleagues in the Russian Tourism industry a mix of both, open as well as secret pay system, is practiced.

  • 8. Analysis Of Shirley Jackson s The Lottery There is a great deal of tension about the ritual that surrounds the Lottery traditions in Shirley Jackson s short story, The Lottery. Out of fear and superstition, the lottery ceremony continues to exist. In short, the lottery is more of a tradition rather than a ritual at the point we witness in the story, but out of respect and fear for tradition, the towns folks are more than willing to commit an act of mass violence, simply for the sake of a tradition. Born in San Francisco, California on December 14, 1916, Shirley Hardie Jackson was born to Leslie and Geraldine Jackson. Jackson was raised in quite a traditional and well off household, which helped develop themes for later short stories. (Alessio 114) As a young child Jackson loved the subject of witchcraft, and she often spent hours reading various books. She spent a decent amount of her childhood writing poetry and short stories, and eventually moved up north and attended the University of Rochester. (Biography.com) After completing her first year of college, Jackson decided to take a year off and focus on her literature work before moving to a new college; Syracuse University. During her brief pause in her education Jackson would at a minimum, write a thousands of words a day to improve her work. Survival of the fittest was said by Charles Darwin. Humans today are interested in how to fix world problems. Such as, diseases that don t currently have vaccines or cures. To search for answers, experts were led to animals. Their fascination towards animals has heightened over the course of millennium years. That curiosity eventually led to animal testing. • 12. Winter Fog Causes And Disadvantages During the cold winter of Delhi, the 5 year olds smokes on an average 2 packs of cigarettes per day. This smoking problem is not confined to 5 year olds, but every Delhiite who is exposed to the hazardous winter fog endures a damage equivalent to 2 packs of cigarettes. Delayed flights and trains, school closures, black outs, accidents on highways has become a norm during winter in the past 20 years. Apart from the economical losses, a major health impact in the form of a decrease in lung function and acute respiratory diseases is affecting the 18.6 million citizens of Delhi. Recently, the Delhi government had declared a public health emergency owing to the poor air quality, which features often in very poor and severe category, according to the Air Quality Index (AQI) consistently during these winters. The presence of fine particles, indicated by PM 10 and PM 2.5 in AQI, contributes to the poor quality of the air and is the major cause for fogs. Sources of these fine particles vary from the emissions from industrial and automobile emissions to the sand particles transported by global winds. 2 Origins of the winter fog The beginning of winter in Northern India, marked by the largest festival known as Diwali, is the end of the rice harvesting season. The residue stubble on the fields at the end of the rice harvesting season doesn t hold any economic value, hence the farmers resort to burning of 70 80 million tonnes of the stubble. Similarly as the temperatures approach freezing temperatures, the general public rely more on bio mass burning for heating, warmth and cooking purposes. Further, the industrial complexes draw more thermally generated electric power and hence leading to an increase of coal emissions. These aerosols from outside the city gets transported and adds into the fine particle sizes from the automobile emissions and road dust generated within the city. And the fine particles serve as sites of condensation, forming misty droplets that doesn t settle. 2A 2020 vision for Delhi Subin Thomas Apart from the sites for condensation, the conditions for the formation of fog are abundant supply of moisture and the increase of temperature with height. Both of this secondary conditions are satisfied by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She was following some sort of game trail that skirted the side of the mountain but away from the openness of the stream. She turned a corner and started down a gradual slope when something dark caught her eyes on the trail ahead. It was two black bear cubs rolling around and wrestling with each other. She stood and watched their comical antics and couldn t help but chuckle at how much they looked like little children who teased and poked and chased each other in play. One cub would wrap its arm around the other s neck and chew on its ear. Then the victim would break away and circle right back to jump on the back of its sibling. All thoughts left her mind for a few moments as she saw them play in their wild home. She had never been so close to animals like this before and was riveted in place by fascination. The interaction and interdependence of Barrie s two characters, Peter and Wendy, symbolize and spread cultural genderstereotypes by mirroring the stereotypes embodied by the adult characters in the story Mr. and Mrs. Darling and by reflecting the ideas of gender roles of the time and foreshadowing the children s understanding of reality and expectations, as well as their eventual maturation. Wendy s father, Mr. Darling, sets the prime example for adult male stereotype. Barrie characterizes him as the breadwinner of the Darling family and a proud businessman. Throughout Barrie s insight into his character, the reader observes him insist upon respect and obedience from his children and wife; and even the family dog. In one instance, Mr. Darling even boasts to Wendy that his wife, Mrs. Darling, not only loves him, but more importantly, respects him. This attitude as displayed by the character of Mr. Darling as the most prominent adult male influence can be argued to be associated with the male stereotype in many ways. Mr. Darling s character in the text supports the culturally stereotypical view of the male gender as the Block 2 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These include their ability as a leader, the way that they are introduced, how they are affected by the war and their troubled relationships with women. Faulks could have written him like this to show the transformation in the character between the years, due to the loss of Isabelle and what he has seen during the war. These events may have left Stephen unable to socialise with the men and prove himself as a key figure of authority. Stanhope is visibly affected by the war, because he drinks, becomes angry with the men and shows a detachment towards everyday life. This could show his cowardice towards war. He tells Osborne that Whenever I look at anything nowadays I see right through it. This could be showing Stanhope s general attitude towards war, as his years of experience could have shown him exactly what the war was really like. By drinking to disguise his cowardice, Stanhope could also be drowning out his true feelings. Sherriff could have written him like this to portray how a soldier coped with the pressures of the war. This could show the audience the true reality of the war, because he seems to show the deterioration of Stanhope throughout the short time period of the play. In contrast to this, Stephen feels disgusted by the war, but he seems curious as to what will happen. He tells Weir that I am deeply curious to see how much further it can be taken. • 18. Psychoanalysis Of Psychoanalysis Psychoanalysis was founded by Sigmund Freud to make the unconscious conscious. His aim was to gain insight into the unconscious and repressed thoughts, feelings and motivations of people in order to help them understand. Freud focused on bringing the repressed internal conflict (such as development issues or trauma) to a conscious place where the person can easily deal with it. Art is one way in which the individual can express his deepest thoughts by unravelling one s inner feelings, making them visible and vulnerable. When a work of art is created by an artist it reflects his/her beliefs and morale which in turn helps us understand and interpret it more clearly. Frida Kahlo 55 works out of 143 paintings by Frida Kahlo have been devoted to her self portraits. This has led analysts to believe that these expressions of art were important to the artist herself and not particularly created for the pleasure of others. What about physical intelligence, conversational intelligence, social intelligence, survival intelligence, and the others that go into everyday life? Why are these important traits not figured into intelligence tests? Standardized tests certainly get predictable results where academics are concerned, but they should not be considered good indicators of general intelligence because of the omissions they make in the testing process. To really gauge a person s intelligence, it would be necessary to put them through a rigorous set of real life trials and document their performance. The standardized IQ tests of today are test only a limited quality of a person s character that can hardly be referred to as intelligence. Standardized test also have no way to compensate for cultural differences. Different cultures have different methods of solving problems, and speediness is not always the best way to tackle a problem. Therefore the time limitations on standardized test are a major drawback. The reasons that IQ tests fail at their task can be separated into two main groups. The first grouping is where the tests assume too much. First off, in the Zeffirelli version, the producers did a wonderful job of setting the movie to really reflects how Shakespeare wrote his play. For example, the movie was set in Verona during the Elizabethan Era, and the clothing and way of speaking to one another fully represented the old times. Also the casting for this movie was excellent, Olivia Hussey(Juliet) was very cute and fit the role perfectly, as well as Leonard Whiting (Romeo) who played his part very well. • 39. Paul s Case by Willa Cather Some say money changes you, some say money changes the people around and others say money changes everyone. In Willa Cather s Paul s Case , Paul is a teenage misfit who lives in a Pittsburgh neighborhood. The love of money is put on such a high pedestal that it consumes Paul and the way which he lives. Everything he does is influenced by his desire for wealth. His love for theater and art becomes an addiction and drive him to steal money and retreat to New York. Here, Paul experiences the fast life as he dines and shops expensively. Paul then realizes he is the victim of his own demise and takes his own life. Paul s obsession with theater, luxury and the dystopian society he lives in are the reasons for his isolation and loss of life. Willa Cather provides insights to how Paul wants to feel important in his life instead of being an outsider in society. In his job, Paul works as an usher in Carnegie Hall. The narrator states, As the house filled, he grew more and more vivacious and animated, and the color came to his cheeks and lips. It was very much as though this were a great reception and Paul were the host. (Cather 13). The narrator shows the reader how Paul feels more important as he helps people in the theater. It is as if the sight of people filling the room and needing Paul s help breathes life into Paul. Author E.K. A literary archetype is a universal symbol that can describe a type of character or patterns of human nature that show up in many different types of literature (Archetypes). We will choose to do an online and mobile survey, these two types have a very small cost. The cost of getting a response is far less than the cost of administering a paper survey or phone survey, and the number of potential responses can be in the thousands, which would be most ideal. Surveys are very useful in describing the characteristics of a large population. A survey provides a broad capability, which ensures a more accurate sample to gather targeted results in which to draw conclusions and make important decisions about our NHL franchise. The anonymity of surveys allows respondents to answer with more candid and valid answers. How Does Ionic Boding Affect Melting And Boiling Point Report on structure and bonding and how it effects the melting and boiling point across period 3 Covalent bonding is a bond where two or more atoms share electrons. The atom is unstable on its own and is not willing to give and electron away, therefore they share, which makes them stable. This can also be described are the molecules being held together by a strong covalent bond. An example of this would be Hydrogen, on its own it is unstable, so it shares its only electron with another, giving it a strong covalent bond. Hydrogen only has one electron, but requires two for its outer shell, unable to give one away, they share. H + H = H2 Ionic boding is when an atom gives another electron to another to form an ionic bond. One atom will donate an electron to another to fill its outer shell, that is held together by Electrostatic attraction. These bonds involve Cations, which are positive Ions that are mostly metals and Anions which are negative Ions that are mostly non metals. An example of this would be Sodium and Chlorine. Sodium has one electron on its outer shell, Chlorine has seven electrons on its outer shell. Chlorine needs eight electrons on its outer shell to make it stable. Further, although statistically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reports of vascular perforations during use of soft polyurethane catheters are rare, although Duntley et al. described eight patients with pleural effusions, detected some days after insertion of subclavian or, in one case, internal jugular venous catheter (Duntley 1992). In one of these patients, the catheter tip seemed radiographically to be in an extravascular position at the time of clinical diagnosis. The pleural space in each patient was nevertheless filled with the solution intended for parental nutrition. In only one case, there was a return of blood through the catheter, possible indicating that most catheters were placed into the pleura immediately at central venous cannulation, possibly following guide wire induced vascular injury. Vascular perforation may often be attributed to immediate cannulation associated injury (Kalen 1991; Robinson 1995), and most morbidity from vascular CVC perforation is due to infusion of fluid into pleura or pericardium (Duntley 1992; Collier 1995; Walshe 2007), although avoidable by careful aspiration of blood, or (if no blood can be obtained) chest X ray with iv contrast injection, before clinical use. This is motivated, in part, by the fact that GPS is a system operated and controlled by the U.S. Department of Defense. As such, some users may want to retain a navigation capability that is not solely GPS based. Another, more technical, motivation for this is due to the fact that GPS (or any other GNSS) is a single system, and it is conceivable that a single failure can result in a denial of service to a large number of users.
