A. Back Bodice 
1. Shoulder Slope – from the base 
of the neck down to an imaginary 
line draw from shoulder tip to 
shoulder tip. 
2. Waist Length – taken from the 
shoulder neck point down to the 
natural waistline.
3. Across Shoulder – taken from the 
shoulder tip point passing across the 
center base of the neck to the other 
shoulder tip point. 
4. Across Back – taken from the 
chest point passing across the 
shoulder blades and the back to the 
other chest point.
B. Front Bodice Sloper 
1. 1.Front length – taken from the 
shoulder neck point passing over the 
apex point ranging down freely to the 
natural waist line.
2. Across Chest – taken from the 
chest point at the point to the other 
chest point. 
3. Apex distance – taken from the 
apex point to the chest apex point. 
4. Bust Line – taken from the fullest 
part of the bust with the tape measure
-touching the shoulder blades over 
the apex point. 
5. Bust Height – taken from the 
shoulder neck point down to the 
apex. 
6. Waistline – taken around the 
smallest part of the body where the 
belt is intended to be.
C. SLEEVE 
1. ARMHOLE – taken around the arm, 
over the shoulder tip around the 
armpit. 
2. Sleeve length - taken from the 
shoulder tip point down to the 
desired length of the sleeve.
3. Sleeve girth – takes around the arm 
where the desired length of the 
sleeve was taken 2 for ease. 
4. Underarm Length - taken from the 
level of the ruler touching the arm 
down to the desired length of the 
sleeve.
D. SKIRT 
1. Hip Length – taken from the side 
waist point down to the hipline 
level. 
2. Hip line – taken around the fullest 
part of the buttocks over the hips.
3. Skirt Length – taken around the 
side waist point down to the desired 
length of the skirt.
E. Pants 
1. Outseam or Full Legnth – taken 
from the waistline seam down to 
the – heels of the shoes or to the 
desired length. 
2. Crotch/Rise – taken from the 
center waist point down to the end 
of the buttocks or to the seat level.
3. Inseam – take from the crotch 
down to the desired length of the 
pants. 
4. Thigh – this measurement is taken 
so as to get the width of a thigh that 
will conform to the style or design, 
place the tape around the thigh and
the measurement divided by two 
set the thight measurement. 
5. Knee measurement – taken 
around the knee and divide the 
measurement by two. 
6. Bottom Measurement – taken 
around the ankle bone at the bottom 
divide the measurement by two.
