There are mainly
four people taking
part in the dance –
two male and two
female dancers.

end of the sticks kneeling on the
floor and facing each other.

The bamboo poles are
approximately 9 feet (about 2.75 m)
long and are lying parallel next to
each other on the floor in the
beginning.
Two pieces of board or bamboo,
about 30 inches long and 2 inches
thick, are placed under the poles,
about 1 foot from the ends.

11. (counts 1 and 2) open the bamboos
about a foot apart and strike them
twice against the boards.
(count 3) Strike bamboo poles
simultaneously or at the same time
sliding them against the board or lifting
them an inch or so.
This is repeated as many times
necessary in regular rhythm.
14. BASIC STEP 1: TOUCH STEP
(count 1,2) Point your R foot twice
sideward
(count 3) Bend the same leg at the
knee so the foot is not touching
the floor and hold in the air.

(count 1) Facing forward, hop R foot to
the right,
(count 2) Step L foot close to the right,
(count 3) Hop R foot to the right.
Repeat the same step starting with the
left

(counts 1 and 2) Change step obliquely
forward R (L),
(count 3) step L (R) across the R (L) in
front;
(counts 1 and 2) change step obliquely
backward R (L)
(count 3) point L (R) in front

20. BASIC STEP 4: WALTZ STEP
(count 1) step left (right) foot in fourth
position in front,
(count 2) step right (left) close to left
(right) in first or third position in rear,
(count 3) step left (right) in fourth
position in front.
