Pedal Power is a project that allows people to charge their mobile phones by pedaling a bike connected to a generator. The first installation will be located in Astor Place in New York City, providing a way for people to engage with energy production and learn how easy it is to generate power through physical activity. The goal is to educate people about energy consumption and empower them to make small changes through an interactive experience that is fun and helps others.

Finite Element Analysis of Pedal Power Hub dynamo
The Hub Dynamos are built for electricity generation form the bicycle motion and they are in light weight
and have low frictional resistance. However they are still subjected to normal bicycle loading such as
bicycle frame, rider weight, acceleration, braking and cornering forces. The challenge is to develop a
lightweight hub housing and hub axle that can safely withstand the required loads. The present paper deals
with designing a Hub dynamo assembly using Solid Works Office Premium software. The assembly
comprises of the Hub shell, hub axle, internal gear assembly, armature, and fasters. Static structural
analysis was done using SW simulation software. The plots for equivalent von-misesstress plot, total
deformation plot were obtained and the design was continuously optimized till a safe design was
obtained.Maximum distortion energy theory was used for the analysis. The material assignment is as
follows: hub assembly- Aluminum Alloys 356.0 T-6, hub axle- ASTM A36 Steel and Gear Assembly
Bracket- Alloy Steel (SS).

zkStudyClub - LatticeFold: A Lattice-based Folding Scheme and its Application...
Folding is a recent technique for building efficient recursive SNARKs. Several elegant folding protocols have been proposed, such as Nova, Supernova, Hypernova, Protostar, and others. However, all of them rely on an additively homomorphic commitment scheme based on discrete log, and are therefore not post-quantum secure. In this work we present LatticeFold, the first lattice-based folding protocol based on the Module SIS problem. This folding protocol naturally leads to an efficient recursive lattice-based SNARK and an efficient PCD scheme. LatticeFold supports folding low-degree relations, such as R1CS, as well as high-degree relations, such as CCS. The key challenge is to construct a secure folding protocol that works with the Ajtai commitment scheme. The difficulty, is ensuring that extracted witnesses are low norm through many rounds of folding. We present a novel technique using the sumcheck protocol to ensure that extracted witnesses are always low norm no matter how many rounds of folding are used. Our evaluation of the final proof system suggests that it is as performant as Hypernova, while providing post-quantum security.

The meet-up will be hosted by Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), a research university specializing in engineering science & technology.
Power Grid Model
The global energy transition is placing new and unprecedented demands on Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Alongside upgrades to grid capacity, processes such as digitization, capacity optimization, and congestion management are becoming vital for delivering reliable services.
Power Grid Model is an open source project from Linux Foundation Energy and provides a calculation engine that is increasingly essential for DSOs. It offers a standards-based foundation enabling real-time power systems analysis, simulations of electrical power grids, and sophisticated what-if analysis. In addition, it enables in-depth studies and analysis of the electrical power grid’s behavior and performance. This comprehensive model incorporates essential factors such as power generation capacity, electrical losses, voltage levels, power flows, and system stability.
Power Grid Model is currently being applied in a wide variety of use cases, including grid planning, expansion, reliability, and congestion studies. It can also help in analyzing the impact of renewable energy integration, assessing the effects of disturbances or faults, and developing strategies for grid control and optimization.

- 3. Pedal Power is a project powered by you, a bike generator and a mobile phone. Hop on a bike, plug your phone in (or don’t) and start charging up! Pedal Power What is it?
- 4. Everybody has Pedal Power! Some people need pedal power to charge their phones, some people use their power to help others in need of phone charging. Still others simply offer their pedal power to offset their carbon dioxide emissions. We hope that everyone will use their power to educate the people in their lives about energy and power of the pedal. Pedal Power Who is it for?
- 5. The first Pedal Power playground will be located at the traffic island in the center of Astor Place. The location is heavily trafficked, but un-congested most of the day. Access will be 24/7. Pedal Power Where and when can I find it?
- 7. Educate: Pedal Power provides pedallers and passers-by information about energy consumption, cost and waste. Engage: Alone or as a group, pedallers use their bodies to generate the necessary wattage to charge their mobile phone device. It is an instant community fueled by pedal power. Empower: Anybody can hop on a bike and contribute to the power grid. Everybody can use the information offered and make changes in their daily energy consumption. And we’ve all been stuck with a dead cell phone. Pedal Power Why?
