Swingers Film Analysis
Swingers is a 1996 low budget romantic comedy drama which ignited the careers of director
Doug Liman, and actors Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau. Set in mid 1990s Los Angeles and Las
Vegas, the cities become as much as a lead role as the actors. Revolving around a young comedian
/actor named Michael (Mike) played by Jon Favreau, the plot follows the difficulties Mike has
been dealing with regarding the romantic and career consequences of leaving New York to
becoming a success in Los Angeles. During the course of the film, we find Mike confiding in his
back east friend Rob, played by Ron Livingston, regarding the pain of leaving his girlfriend in
New York, trying to learn how to venture back in the game of meeting women from his friend
and film s antagonist, Trent, played by Vince Vaughn, and the attempting to manage his chaotic
new life with the in Los Angeles and the animated new people with whom he now associates.
However, the film is not simply skin deep. Once you peel back the layers, we discover that the
film, with its Rat Pack references, swing music and desires to keep it Old School , are more
about living in a rapidly changing environment and the people who won t let release the grasp on
the past. Moreover, the film attempts to hold on to the once was classy cultural aspects of Los
Angeles and Las Vegas. The characters don t want to be the people that they are today, living in

Tb Is An Infectious Disease
What is TB?
TB is an infectious disease. This means that disease causing pathogens, such as bacteria, viruses,
fungi and protoctists, attack and contaminates the host s cells, then spreads to other cells within the
body.
Pathogens can be spread in many different ways which are: horizontal/vertical the disease is passed
through to the baby from the mother, either from the placenta or breast feeding; direct when you
come in direct contact with the pathogen; waterborne the disease comes from water you drink; food
you eat an infected item; vector another animal transfers it to you; airborne, the disease circulates

This will cause chest pains and night sweats.
TB is more likely to develop if you have HIV/AIDS, are an alcoholic, abuse drugs, or live in damp,
overcrowded conditions. People with weaker immune systems, are also more susceptible.
How to avoid the spread of the disease
A vaccine containing a weakened version of the bacterium has been produced, called Bacille
Calmet Guerin (BCG) to prevent the spread of TB. This is often given to people aged 16 35 and
those more likely to catch the disease, i.e. people travelling to, and staying in, countries where the
infection is more likely to occur, healthcare practitioners, homeless shelter workers and immigrant
hostel workers.
Whilst working with an active TB patient, the spread of this disease can be easily avoided by
washing hands, before and after a task is completed, wearing the appropriate P.P.E. (personal
protective equipment), and making sure it is clean, never using needles more than once, and
correctly disposing of them. Surfaces should be wiped down with disinfectant, before and after
use, and all equipment must be sterile, to prevent cross contamination and there are procedures you
should always follow to keep both yourself and your patient safe. Always wipe down surfaces
before and after use, with disinfectant.

Charles Horton Cooley Looking Glass Self
Explain Charles Horton Cooley s concept of the Looking Glass Self. Then apply the concept of
the looking glass self to describe hypothetically how a person who has an eating disorder could
have been influenced by others.
The Looking Glass Self is interpreted as a person s way they view or perceive themselves based
off of how they feel that others see them (Conley, 2017), This is generally done in three steps, the
first we would imagine how we appear to others, secondly, we envision which judgements were
made based on that appearance, and finally how the person feels about us founded on their
judgements.
In order to apply the Looking Glass Self theory to persons with eating disorders we must first

The media has changed the views of what is considered socially acceptable for appearances.
From the movie stars and sports personalities people idolize down to our local media
personalities, there is a certain accepted type that is portrayed. If a person with an eating disorder,
that being anorexia, bulimia, or any others, is seen in public they are concerned with their
appearance. Thinking do I look fat, or am I eating to much, and other questions about how they feel
about what others think about them race through their head. If an obese person looks at the model
type person, they both have common stereotypes they base how they think about that person in
their mind. Things like why do they eat so much, why don t they take better care of themselves,
you have to live at the gym to look like that, they must not eat anything or they always vomit it after
they do. All those and many other comments and questions buzzing around in their head, while
maybe never looking at the possible underlying causes. These feeling and thoughts will generally

millions of spores. When a spore settles in a suitable environment, it can germinate and branch to
form a mycelium. When two sexually compatible mycelia meet, they may fuse to form a so called
secondary mycelium, which is capable of forming fruiting bodies.
Mushroom cultivation activities can play an important role in supporting the local economy by
contributing to subsistence food security, nutrition, and medicine. Generating additional
employment and income through local, regional and national trade and offering opportunities for

All systems also have inputs, processor, outputs and management (Hamilton 1997).
Input is something put into a system to achieve the results, such as human resources, material,
money (Hamilton 1997).
Output is the result which is produced by a system from a specific input (intended and unintended)
(Hamilton 1997). For instance, an electrical utility takes on input from the environment in form of
raw material, such as coal, oil, water power; and provides output in form of electricity (Yuvienco
2008).
The transformation to convert a system s inputs to the outputs is called process .
People influence the conversion process through management with standards, feedback and initiator
or functions for planning, organizing, directing and controlling (Hamilton 1997) 3.6.2. Sub system
Sub system is the part of system, is the group of elements and provides a picture of the structure of
the system (Hamilton 1997). Each sub system affects the other sub system and the system as a

A boundary could be thought of as an imaginary line which determines what is inside and what is
outside of a system (Tamas 1987), and which components should be treated as the parts of system

Corruption In The Colbert Report
Plato, Marx, and Rousseau all speak on the corruption of society and how the world surrounding it
really is. One of the commonly seen themes throughout the texts is the idea of corruption.
Corruption centers around one in power gaining advancement, often through bribery, by fraudulent
behavior, either politically or socially. Socrates speak on tyrants as an example of this. A tyrant
said to be someone who, Lives lordly...and lawlessly, and being himself a king...a tyrant leads a
State, to the performance of any reckless deed. (Plato) These ideas of corruptionare also seen
throughout the videos on The Colbert Report, by using the concept of Super PACs as an example.
When looking at the reading one can imagine the corruption of that time and it is easier for one to
brush it off as something in the past. The Colbert Report show the corruption of today when it
comes to politics, which in this case make this topic hit a lot closer to home for many of us.
Plato, Marx, and Rousseau have all spoke on ways that we are blinded by trying to understand a
system of government that, due to having money and power over us, seem to be on our side but is...

The media are constrained by the dominant ideology, which heavily featured anti communism
before and during the Cold War era. Manufacturing Consent was written during the cold war. The
media were prevented from criticising attacks on small states labelled communist. The creation of
an evil empire of some kind has become a great plan for terrifying the population. Since the end of
the Cold War (1991), anti communism was replaced by the war on terror as the major social control
mechanism.

Disinformation is a news story which is deliberately designed by journalists. The news story is
presented as a real one and from credible sources. Jowelt and O Donnell (2012: 45 49) summarise
the main goals of propaganda and the propagandist as follows:
A. Concealed purpose The propagandist does not tell his/her readers that he/she is a persuader,
but, in reality he or she wants to persuade people to believe in his or her own interests or those of
an organisation, a specific group or country. This means that the propagandist does not care about
the audience and does not even believe in the message that he/she is sending.
B. Concealed Identity The propagandist always attempts to conceal his/her identity because he/she
wants to achieve a goal. If a propagandist reveals his/her identity, he will introduce a gift to his/her

In the UK, there is a difference between the ages. By analyzing at the population statistics, we
find there are a 66,389,051 people in the UK (Anon., n.d.) This huge number will have an effect
on the demand for the theme park, which will encourage the leaders of these project to develop
different activates to fit the tastes and preference for all the ages. For example, having two kinds
of the rollercoasters, one for adults and another safe one for children and of course some activities
that interest the older population and disabled. Also, there are slightly more women than men in the
UK population. Consequently, the gender distribution of the population is likely to have an effect
on the demand. For example, there will be greater demand for women s games and activities than
men s. Nowadays, most of the countries get a people a globally diverse population of different

Enron was an admired company prior to 2000 because at that time it surfaced as a frontrunner in the

increasing its revenue. The company, through efficient management team, has built leading

The company was constantly emphasizing its stock price. The policy of stock option awards caused
management to create potential situations of rapid growth in efforts to give the appearance of
reported earnings to meet Wall Street s expectations. Although Enrons compensation and
performance management system was designed to retain and reward its most valuable employees,
the system contributed to a dysfunctional corporate culture that became interested only in short
term profits to maximize bonuses. In addition, accounting results were recorded as soon as
possible to keep up with the company s stock price. This practice helped ensure deal makers and
executives received large cash bonuses and stock options.
Enron s auditor firm was accused of applying thoughtless standards in its audits because of a
conflict of interest. The firm was generating a large amount of money for its consulting fees for
Enron. The firm s methods where questioned when it seemed as though the reports were
completed only for the annual fees to be collected. Furthermore, it was also criticized for lack of

The Law Of Selective Incorporation
1. The concept of selective incorporation according to We the People, was a progression by which
different securities in the Bill of Rights were incorporated into the Fourteenth Amendment. In
1937 the courts were still unwilling to defend civil freedoms beyond the First Amendment. The
first case that established selective incorporation was Palko v. Connecticut. The courts
determined that the provisions of the Bill of Rights should be selectively combined and useful as
a constraint on the states by the Fourteenth Amendment (Ginsberg et al. 117). Gideon v.
Wainwright established the right to counsel during criminal courts . The Miranda v. Arizona
likewise established the right to counsel and remain silent The incorporation that gained a lot of
nationwide attention is McDonald v. Chicago where the right to bear arms was granted
(Ginsberg et al. 118). This incorporation has paved the way for several national cities to pass gun
laws. 2. The rights of the accused is based upon the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and Eighth Amendment
that creates the Due Process of Law (Ginsberg et al. 133). These laws protect accused criminals
by engaging limitations on the governments against the liberty and freedom of the accused .
However under the search and seize it prohibits evidence from being submitted in court that was
seized during an illegal search (Ginsberg et al. 134). The exclusionary was applied during the case

Differences Between Chesapeake And New England Colonies
The origin of the Chesapeake and the New England regions was English. But, they re societies were
entirely different. Both regions had different intentions on why they were going to settle in the New

different directions.
The social differences between these two regions were evident as time went on. Settlers coming to
the Chesapeake region were arriving in big numbers, but mostly in men. Not only did families tend

Teenagers and Short Text Messaging
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Text messaging is the most widely used data appliance in the world,
with 2.4 billion users, or 74% of all mobile phone subscribers (Tedeschi, 2008). Market analysis
reveals that consumers purchase phone applications readily because it is effortless to download
an application onto their mobile phone and also since cash out of pocket is not required, it simply
gets added to their phone bill. Teenagers represent the largest spectrum of these consumers, who
are eager to show off the stunning features of their new phone to their peers. Parents typically pay
the cost of their cell phone plans and typically are unaware of small charges made on the account.
Most phone application downloads range from free demos to $9.99 pricing. As this venture is
maintained via the internet and cell phone, little to no overhead is required. Most of the costs of
goods sold are represented in the marketing of the product. With grant backing from the National
Science Foundation, Venture Capital investors and built in licensing fees paid direct;
TravellingWave can expect a high profit margin with no initial investment required. This analysis
will show how the VoicePredict product will be successful in market penetration. COMPANY

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Pit Mining
Extraction:
Mining involves digging, blasting, hauling rock, exploring, extracting and refining.
It is a high tech industry.
There are three ways minerals are mined,
I.Open pit mining
Referred as a surface mining technique of extracting rock or minerals from the Earth.
It is used when deposits of commercially useful minerals or rocks are found near the surface.
Metal ores (unpurified metal) are extracted through open pit mining if they are near the surface.
In open pit mining overburden is removed.
Holes are drilled 10 to 15 meters deep and filled with explosives. The rock is blasted apart.
Ore is loaded into large trucks (which may carry 90 to 250 tonnes) by huge shovels.

Effect on the Environment:
Sometimes there is low forest degradation and sometime sudden and catastrophic clear cutting for
mining.
Deforestation affects the amount of water in soil and moisture in atmosphere.
When there are no trees to keep soil in place, there are more chances of soil erosion.
Heavy rainfall washes soil into rivers.
Essential nutrients are washed out of the soil which results in insufficient growth of new plants.
Deforestation also contributes to decreased transpiration, which lessens cloud formation. This
ultimately reduces the sources of rain.
Forests extract CO2 and pollutants from the air, thus contributing to biosphere sustainability.
When mining happens a lot of waste is dumped which pollutes the land that decreases sustainability.
Mining involves the use of explosives in a large amount and drilling, when explosives are used a
lot of harmful chemicals such as NO2, CO2 and sulphur are released in to the atmosphere which
increases global warming.
Sulphide chemical is the result of acid rain.
Coal is used as a source of energy when mining, when coal is burnt it releases coal ashes in to the
atmosphere that contain heavy chemicals such as mercury, arsenic and

Autobiography Of A Homeless Person
In day to day life, an individual will come into contact with countless people who all
have vastly diverse backgrounds. One person may be a renowned surgeon, or you could come
across a homeless man that thinks everyone is trying to harm him in some way or another. The
fact of the matter is that no one has an obvious way of knowing how someone s day has gone, or
what kind of frame of mind they happen to be in at any given moment in time. One might notice
that most people s days are hectic, depressing, or maybe sometimes even a little deplorable.

Garage Floor
More often than not, the garage floor is the last thing that comes to mind when we decide on
home renovation projects. But given how much the garage is used for storing lawn mowers,
automobiles and even offering a great place for kids to play in bad weather, using the correct
option of garage floor paint will improve the appearance of the whole garage. Moreover, it will
stop spoiling the garage with oil, grease and other liquid stains, extend the life of the floor and
make it much easier to maintain the garage by coating the permeable surface. Garage floors are
usually concrete and not simply any paint can be used successfully on this surface. Success with
this project will require selecting the best quality paint for the garage floor and appropriately
setting up the floor for the application of paint. The first step, which is the most difficult in garage
floor painting, is the removal of everything to leave the whole floor vacant. This is when you will

“While Shareholders and Managers Will Have Different...
Managers are hired to act on behalf of the shareholders of a firm. However, this is not always the
case as both parties have different objectives. The difference in interests between shareholders and
managers derives from the separation of ownership and control in a corporation (Berk and
DeMarzo, 2011: 921). Whereas shareholders are interested in maximising their own wealth,
managers may have more personal interests which differ to that of the shareholders. Downs and
Monsen (no date, cited in Chin, Cooley and Monsen, 1968:435) suggest that managers self interest
lies in maximising their life time income and that such self interest will be congruent with profit
maximisation for the firm only in special cases . This conflict between both... Show more content on

Although it may be a simple solution, there are costs involved. Berk and DeMarzo (2011:922)
state that as no one shareholder has an incentive to bear these costs, as the benefits are then
divided between all shareholders, they instead elect a board of directors to monitor the managers
on their behalf. The directors duties include hiring the executive team, approving major
investments and acquisitions, and dismissing executives if necessary (Berk and DeMarzo, 2011:
922). The level of monitoring required differs across firms and is based on the magnitude of the
incentive gap between principal and agent (Beatty and Zajac, 1994, cited in Westphal and Zajac,
1994:125). However, the main factor affecting the level of monitoring provided is the cost,
otherwise all rational firms would monitor maximally, irrespective of the strength of incentive
compensation contracts or other factors (Westphal and Zajac, 1994:125). Although the board of
directors are hired to keep a close eye on top management, the agency problem may still exist. This
will occur when the director s duties in monitoring have been compromised as they have
connections with management. A way of overcoming this problem is to hire directors who are
independent to the company, as they are deemed to be better monitors of managerial effort. As
Mehran (1995:166) states, outside directors are more independent of top management and thus
better represent the interests of shareholders than do inside

The Students Bill Of Rights
The school where the author is doing her practicum has written a School Bill of Rights to give
guide to the students, staff and parents as to what is appropriate behavior. The author supports this
bill of rights because it provides a healthy environment for learning for the students. The author of
this essay highly respects students bill of rights in the school. The students do not lose their
constitutional rights when they come to school. Thus, they have First Amendment rights to express
themselves. The democratic leader embraces this freedom of expression. However, students do not
have the full range of the constitutional rights. The principal of a school has the power to make
rules for the student to follow at school. For example, a student cannot cuss a teacher in class or the
hall. However, if it happened off campus, the principal would not have the authority to punish the
student. The author as a democratic leader would use the situation to explain to the student why it
should not be done and carry out any repercussions that the rules require. After all, it is the role of
the principal to educate the students in a safe environment. Any safe environment has rules that
need to be followed. However, the principal of the school must respect the Bill of Rights and the
First Amendment. Occasionally, a situation may occur when it is hard for the principal to do his

The legal process within the human resources department tries to format strategies and alliances
that avoid negative activities affecting the employers and employees; however, exhibitions using
common sense or compassion can conflict with these guidelines creating inappropriate behaviors. If
this becomes the case, disciplinary actions begin bringing about other matters of legal issues.
Nevertheless, once an individual believes they have been illegally mistreated, they become more

The Underlying Cause Of Veteran Suicide
Complex issues in society are often observed, studied, and researched by respective experts in
one particular field. Veteran suicide is one of those issue where this type of academics can
sometimes lead to a very narrow view and simplistic solution to the complex issue being
observed, studied, or researched. Integrative studies is the study of two or more traditional
disciplines in different categories, but excludes the applied fields and professions. As Repko

different disciplines to research and identify what are the underlying cause of Veteran suicide

involves the combining of two or more academic disciplines into one activity. Interdisciplinary
research requires an understanding of the disciplines. (Repko, Interdisciplinary Research Process

research into a discipline being used to solve a complex issue is needed to find a true

Firstly, you can offer compensation for the request which you are, more or less, forcing this victim
into doing. On the other hand, you can imply, and sometimes enforce, a threat. This threat does not
necessarily mean physical, however, physically threatening someone is a type of extortion. Another
threat enforced through corruption could be loss of finances. Having a corrupt influence on
someone, usually implies, it comes from a place of fear. In some situations, this implication is the
furthest from the truth. Corrupt influence can also occur through affection; as we grow
relationships with certain people around us we start to trust their opinion. Clearly this person has
earned this trust over time as you have developed a relationship with them, however, under certain
circumstances, this person could use the trust you have empowered them with for their personal

He became an advocate for the inclusion of the Gentiles among the true followers of Christianity.
Until Paul s challenge, Jewish Christians believed that non Jews had to convert to Judaism and
follow the law, which included restrictions and circumcision. Gentiles who worship in the
synagogue but did not become proselytes were called god fearers and were only second class
citizens in the synagogue. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki
/Circumcision_controversy_in_early_Christianity)
As the Gentiles did not follow kashruth, many Christian Jews refused to eat with Christian
Gentiles, believing them to be unclean and not acceptable. This had implications for church
fellowship and for the ritual celebration of the Lord s Supper. Paul challenged this belief,
(Galatians 2: 11 14) most strongly at the Council of Jerusalem in 50 CE. This lead to the decision
by the early Christian leaders to enable Gentiles as well as Jews to be followers of Jesus of
Nazareth and to call themselves Christians.
Permitting freedom from the laws of kashruth and circumcision allowed Christianity to spread more
freely amongst the Gentiles and is why Paul is so significant today. (Christianity vs. Judaism

Paul s writings on social issues were just as influential on the life and beliefs of the Christian
culture, and are still considered part and parcel of the broader Christian doctrine by the more
conservative Christians.

The Roles of The National Security Enterprise
The National Security Enterprise (NSE) is the overarching government apparatus responsible for
national security decision making. This is generally thought of as the National Security Council
(NSC) and the Department and Agencies they represent. However, Roger Z George and Harvey

security decision making may rest with the President and the NSC but is significantly influenced by
the Modern Media (including the traditional Press), lobbyist, think tanks, and the US Congress. A

security strategy, advising the president on national security issues, overseeing policy
implementation through the interagency process, and responding to national security crises.

Each perspective is held within a chapter which, when the characters move away from each
other, allows the author to leave minor cliff hangers at the end of each chapter. While six of the
characters from this first book are from the same family, the perspective is shifted around in
preceding books. Death is common is this book and it s was one of the best things about it
because it played well to the realism of the time that is depicted. Main characters are not safe like
in other novels I have read and this made for very exciting reading. Self preservation is often the
cause for character splits and confrontations, and by the end of the book characters you assumed
you would be attached too for some time are left headless and gutless or simply gone.
The novel, A Game of Thrones, begins with an encounter with supernatural beings; this may give

honor their country and reflect on the great liberties that they are afforded. It sounds simple but the
anthem has become complicated. This is America 2016, a time where police officers are getting
away with murder and a businessman is elected as our president. When the quarterback of the San
Francisco 49ers Colin Kaepernick decided to not stand for the playing of the national anthem in the
pre season game of the NFL, he was the first athlete to vividly illustrate his outrage over the police
brutality stirring within the American population. His actions have led to a wave of athlete protests
who are joining to exercise their constitutional rights and help fight against an issue bigger than
sports. However, there are many citizens attacking the silent protests with violent threats and are
calling the participants disrespectful. While the controversy has centered on the playing of The Star
Spangled Banner, it has been overlooked that the problem is really with the entire country and the
cultural divisions that exist in today s society. Although many patriotic fans are criticizing and
denouncing his actions, Kaepernick and many other protesters are making a difference by standing
against the oppression of minorities and social injustices that are gripping our nation. After
Kaepernick protested against the national anthem, it inspired many athletes to join his silent actions.

Impact of Social Network in Capital Markets
Acknowledgement
Before going to the detail about our report, we would like to pay our gratitude to the Almighty
Allah for helping us to prepare this report. We would also like to thank our honorable faculty in
charge, Sayba Kamal Athoi (SBK) for giving us such a nice assignment to implement our
knowledge in the context of the real world.
Abstract
There has been an increasing use of the social networking sites to aid in the decision making
process for making investments in the capital markets around the world by both individuals and
organizations. Social networks enable a faster and easier access to information regarding capital
markets to all. According to various researches, data from the social networking sites can be used

The research by Indiana University Professor Johan Bollen shows that their algorithms are capable
of predicting the direction of DJIA with 87 percent accuracy, up to four days before the actual
move happens in the market. Here is an example of their findings.
In the graph the blue line represents the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the red line represents
the predicted model of stock prices based on twitter updates. The trends are separated for better
viewing in the middle and bottom graphs. From the graph we can see that when delayed by
three days, the trends in predicted model of stock prices overlaps meaningfully with the Dow
(top). However, events that the public cannot predict, like the bank bailout pointed to in the top,
can disrupt the accuracy of the predicted model of stock prices. b) Another research study says it
has found a correlation between the social media popularity of key brands and their share price,
and suggests that it might be used as a lead indicator to determine the trend of the stock price as
well. The author of the study, Arthur O Connor, a post doctoral student at Pace University said
that he was able to reliably predict the daily stock prices of three major stocks over a 10 month
period. He also made three predictions, claiming that Wal Mart, Viacom and Sony each had seen
major recent growth in key social media profiles, implying that the share prices of those stocks

Alleviation Of Poverty In Developing Countries
Alleviation of poverty is one of the major goals of developing countries and international assistance
agencies. Poverty eradication and promoting sustainable development are the two most important
challenges faced by the world. For the achievement of this goal raising education levels, offering
comprehensive medical services, improving lifestyles, and a nation s openness to trade and
investment are the important objectives that needs more attention. Povertyleads to stagnant
economies. Trade benefits are different in every country and some developing nations do not get
positive impacts of volume of their exports. Poverty is not only lack of income, it includes various
concepts such as social, economic, and political elements. Developing countries depend upon
economic and national growth for the eradication of poverty. Rural areas have poorer access to
education and health but people usually live in healthier and safer environments. (wadel 2016)
Developing countries have become convinced that trade can have significant effects on their total
income and on their development. Most believe that the effects of climate change will be
particularly damaging to poor countries, while some of the measures proposed to mitigate it could
provide significant financial benefits. Although they are not the most important or direct policy
instruments against poverty, the outcomes of trade and climate change negotiations matter. Some
countries made gains on agriculture and

Essay on Blending Good and Evil in the Master and Margarita
In Bulgakov s The Master and Margarita, Woland has created some kind of partnership with
Yeshua Ha Nozri. He explains to Matthu Levi, a mere mortal, that he is misunderstood by fools.
Woland is simply an alternate interpretation of the Devil. During his short conversation with
Matthu Levi he asks him what good deeds are they able to do if there is no evil to right. You
spoke the words as though you did not recognize the existence of either shadows or evil. But
would you be kind enough to give some thought to this: what would your good be doing if there
were no evil, and what would the earth look like if shadows disappeared from it? Even after
Woland has burned down a fair portion of Moscow as well as created commotion among the lives of

He delivers the message that Yeshua wants the master to be granted peace. Yeshua does not
possess the power to do this task himself and asks that Woland do it. Woland can obviously do it
easily. The Master is given peace, not light in the end because he has acquiesced to the pressure on
him from society. The master s one flaw is that he is a coward, like Pontius Pilate. Because of this
one fact he is given peace, not light. Yeshua did not blame anyone for his death, furthermore he
did not seize the opportunity to be free when he was offered it. Pontius Pilate has eternally
tormented himself for being a coward and not doing anything to save Yeshua. Yeshua s
intentions are rather clear when he gets Woland to bring the Master to free Pilate. Woland s
ultimate business in Moscow was to locate the Master and get the novel from him. Although he
has caused a great deal of trouble for characters such as Varenuhka, Styopa, Ivan, and Rimsky, he
has ultimately served his purpose as the justice bringer to the flawed as well as allowing Yeshua
to right his wrongs. During the aftermath of Satan s Ball, he allows the various characters to return
to their original roles. However, it is not without consequence. For example he only lets Varenuhka
return if he promises never to be rude over the phone again. Woland has punished evil doers. It is in
this very apartment where Woland refers to the tasks of other departments . Every department must

Being An Outsider
No matter where one goes on this dismal chunk of rock, one will probably encounter an outsider.
In high school lunchrooms there is always at least one poor, sad teenager who has the unlucky
seat next to the trash can. In parks and school playgrounds there is always that one melancholy
kid that provides a stark contrast from the joyful shouts and screams coming from the other
playing children. The experience of being an outsider is an inescapable universal condition that
can be caused through social class, appearance, or other factors. Being an outsider is caused by
social class no matter where one is in the world. In Santha Rama Rau s memoir of her childhood
as an Indian girl in British controlled India, she talked about how she and her sister were seen as
outsiders in their British run school... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Ryszard Kapuscinski s lecture, Encountering the Other: The Challenge for the 21st Century ,
Kapuscinski argues that everyone is part of another group that is deemed the Other .
Kapuscinski states that Others are indeed Others, but for those Others, I am the one who is
Other (Kapuscinski, 22). Thus, being an outsider is a universal condition since we are all the
Other to someone else. However, some might argue that being an outsider is not a universal
condition as humans are by nature social animals so being an outsider is a rare occurence. To
this, Kapuscinski also states that being an outsider is universal as ...the Other is a mirror into
which you peer...a mirror that unmasks and denudes, which we would prefer to avoid
(Kapuscinski, 28). In other words, being an outsider is a universal condition even though humans
are social animals because the Other is a reflection of qualities that define a person and humanity
in general. The quality of being in outsider is universal as everyone is an outsider to someone else
and outsiders are simply reflections of who humanity

Review Of The Skeleton Key
The Skeleton Key is a movie about belief in the magic centered practice of Hoodoo. The movie
has many themes centered on the power of belief. Magic and rituals were vehicles used many
times during the course of the movie. Throughout the movie, its protagonist, Caroline, transforms
her belief system through a series of events that will be explained in this paper. The movie also
shows how the beliefs and individual approaches to magicand religious practices drive the actions
and interactions of the movie s antagonists, Papa Justify and Mama Cecile, as well as secondary
characters such as Jill, Caroline s roommate.
Caroline, starts out as a non believer of magic. She views the people and culture of New Orleans
through an etic lens. For example, when Caroline first arrived at the gas station prior to reaching
the mansion, she became unnerved by all of the Hoodoo artifacts she saw. She did not understand
their significance at the time but felt uneasy and wanted to leave as soon as possible. She makes
many ethnocentric judgements of the local people and culture. During the course of the film,
Caroline s belief starts to change as she experiences many things that she cannot explain with her
current belief system. Her interpretation of the causal links between these experiences provide her
with the proof that magic works. This explains why Voodoo worked on Caroline towards the latter
part of the film, when her exposure to the culture and artifacts of Hoodoo

How Women Has Impacted The State Of Texas
Tina Dao
Gov 2306

18 April 2015
H.R. No. 1445 HR 1445 is a bill passed on March 26, 2015 in the 84th Texas Legislature to
recognize March 2015 as Women s History Month. Jessica Farrar is a democratic from District
148 and sponsored this bill (Open States). I chose this bill because, quoting from the bill itself, it
provides an ideal opportunity to acknowledge the historic contributions made by women in the
Lone Star State and beyond (Farrar). First, the bill discusses about how women have played crucial
roles since the Texas Republic was found. Then, the bill later on details about some of the actual
women that have impacted the state of Texas greatly: Minnie Fisher Cunningham, Hortense Sparks
Ward, Edna Gladney, Oveta Culp... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Oveta Culp Hobby is known for her many achievements. She was the first director of the Women
s Army Corps and built an army from nothing (Farrar). Later on, she became a cabinet member
for President Eisenhower and was the Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare. We
remember her today because she is the reason why women received opportunities to join the
army (Oveta Culp Hobby). Frances Farenthood was a lawyer and politician from Texas. She was
the runner up vice president candidate to be nominated for that position for the election of
1972, making her the first woman to actually be viable for this position (it was very close, she
lost at 48% of votes) Also, she campaigned for governor of Texas twice, but lost. (Frances Sissy
Farenthold). Texas second female governor, Ann Richards left a huge impact on the Lone Star
State. She fought for women s and minorities rights and was well liked by many people because
of her humor and wittiness. Even after failing to be re elected (she lost to George W. Bush), she
still cared about the people very much and continued to speak about equal rights for all (Ann
Richards Biography). Barbara Jordan was the first African American congresswoman and first
African American in the Texas Senate. Another highlight about her life was that she was also the
first African American women to deliver the keynote

Lyndon B. Johnson s Foreign Highlights
Lyndon B. Johnson s Foreign Highlights
Lyndon B. Johnson became president in 1963, a time period in which the United States was
engaged in two battles on both the domestic and the international fronts. At home the President was
faced with growing Civil Rights issues and abroad he faced some of the greatest challenges of his
political career. Internationally the United States was already undergoing a Cold war with the Soviet
Union and the newly adopted policy of containment had become the answer to all of the rising
Communist movements all over the world. In Vietnam a massive Civil War was underway as the
Pro Communist Regime of the North invaded the Pro American Regime of the South. The North,
which was led by Ho Chi Minh, was backed by the Soviet Union, China and other communist allies
invaded the South backed by the United States and other anti communist allies. Minh s army
consisted of North Vietnamese forces and the Viet Cong, a South Vietnamese communist common
front aided by the North. Ngô Đình Diệm, the leader of the South, had forces that consisted
of South Vietnamese Soldiers and US Soldiers. Amidst these conflicts Johnson rose and took
initiatives that would define American Policy in Vietnam for the rest of his presidency. The Gulf of
Tonkin incident was one of the incidents that increased United States influence and intervention in
Vietnam. The USS Maddox, was in the Gulf Of Tonkin when it reported to be fired upon by a North
Vietnamese motorboat. Following this

Codependency in Samuel Beckett s Endgame Essay
Codependency in Samuel Beckett s Endgame
Clov asks, What is there to keep us here? Hamm answers, The dialogue. In the play Endgame,
Samuel Beckett demonstrates dramatically the idea of codependency between the two focal
characters who rely on each other to fulfill their own physical and psychological needs. Beckett
accomplishes this through Hamm, who assumes the identity of a kingly figure, and his relationship
with Clov, who acts as his subject. In Endgame, this idea is established by tone and humor in the
dialogue amid Hamm and Clov.
Samuel Beckett was an Irish born poet, novelist, and foremost dramatist of the theater of the
absurd. His surreal writings mixed humor into a world paralyzed and grief stricken with pain ...

and later an M.A. in Romance languages. Beckett moved to Paris, France, where began his
writing career. It was here that he developed and perfected his absurdist style, and began to write
novels and plays alike with his bleak outlook on the core of human existence. His literature
ultimately sought to expose this concept of a wretched solitary self which was representative of
quite literally nothingness. (Encarta) Beckett created four major works including; his trilogy
Molloy (1951), Malone Dies (1951), and The Unnamable (1953), novels that he considered his
greatest achievements; and the play, Waiting for Godot (1952) which critics acclaim as his
masterpiece. He also won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1969. Samuel Beckett s writings were a
reflection of his mastery of the written word, and laid the foundations of a long continuance of the
absurdist tradition.
In Antony Easthope s article he remarks on Hamm and Clov s relationship in the play and
analyzes Beckett s dramatic method. Easthope s explanation of Endgame s plot is focused
around one pivotal question: Will Clov leave Hamm? Thus, he asserts that there is no resolution,
as the play ends with Clov standing in front of the door, all packed to go, but unable to leave.
Therefore, to be able to recognize Beckett s dramatic method he states that it becomes necessary to
look at Hamm and Clovs relationship, from which it arises. Easthope believes that Clov is only a
pawn dominated by Hamm s active

Jesus Transfiguration
Using literary analysis, some questions that come to my mind are the following: 1: What does
the symbols used in the text really mean? 2: What is the form of the text? I don t really know the
genre it is in. 3: What is the primary message of the text being told? What is it trying to teach me?
4: How do the characters relate to one another?
The style of the text is in a form of telling the readers about Jesus transfiguration. The style that the
writer uses/that Jesus uses is in such way giving many symbolism; the words used has many
symbolism. It is a descriptive style. The scene of the text is when Jesus took Peter, James, and
John up to a high mountain, this, I am assuming symbolizes going to a secluded area maybe
because Jesus didn t want

better which would help the firm with better experience in the future in case they tend to market

Disadvantages
* The cost of expanding to newer geographies could be more than the investment * Targeting
different segments could mean create different positioning strategies for each segment. This could
lead to confused positioning among the customers * Creating more lines and products would
increase the complexity, with great number of SKU s the managing of the SKU s could be an even
greater problem
C. Undertaking Brand promotion strategies
Lego should try to promote the brand more aggressively to coax the customer preferences towards
Lego toys.
Some of the Brand promotion strategies adopted could be as follows: * Open a chain of their own
Lego stores with play areas * Try to organise Lego construction competitions

* This would help the loyalists bond with the brand in a better manner * It would help Lego brand
to be spread extensively * It would help understand the customer

Evaluating The Redistributive Crime That Occurs By Using A...
Often retailers will overtly protect expensive, top shelf products, but this may actually result in the
increased theft of less secure, bottom shelf goods. This incidence is referred to as redistributive
crime. There is a loss prevention (LP) department in retail companies that is specifically tasked with
minimizing product loss, commonly referred to as inventory shrink. LP is implemented to reduce
the preventable loss of a company s assets by utilizing technologies that mitigate theft and fraud.
Retailers continuously adapt their technologies to handle threats, but there are still numerous
underlying issues, such as employee theft, fraud, and shoplifting. The increase in technology that
consumers have access to threatens LP divisions, because they have made it easier for consumers
to steal products, such as ink, and this drives LP to make technological progress in order to prevent
further inventory shrinkage. However, there are budget constraints, and efficiency problems that
arise with newer, more difficult LP technology. This paper aims to evaluate the redistributive crime
that occurs by using a case study within a department of goods and analyzing the security measures
available to combat this problem. Not sure how to phrase it, but basically do the EAS systems
implemented pay for themselves, does the marginal benefit exceed the marginal cost, each alpha
box etc, service... Currently, loss prevention technologies do not meet the challenges of the market
completely, there

The Looking Glass Self is interpreted as a person s way they view or perceive themselves based off of how they feel that others see them (Conley, 2017), This is generally done in three steps, the first we would imagine how we appear to others, secondly, we envision which judgements were made based on that appearance, and finally how the person feels about us founded on their judgements. The directors duties include hiring the executive team, approving major investments and acquisitions, and dismissing executives if necessary (Berk and DeMarzo, 2011: 922). The level of monitoring required differs across firms and is based on the magnitude of the incentive gap between principal and agent (Beatty and Zajac, 1994, cited in Westphal and Zajac, 1994:125). However, the main factor affecting the level of monitoring provided is the cost, otherwise all rational firms would monitor maximally, irrespective of the strength of incentive compensation contracts or other factors (Westphal and Zajac, 1994:125). In addition employees must take heed to precautions design by the organization. However an employer wants to avoid expenditures in overhead by cutting cost or corners often putting their employees at harmful risk. Firstly, you can offer compensation for the request which you are, more or less, forcing this victim into doing. On the other hand, you can imply, and sometimes enforce, a threat. This threat does not necessarily mean physical, however, physically threatening someone is a type of extortion. Another threat enforced through corruption could be loss of finances. Having a corrupt influence on someone, usually implies, it comes from a place of fear. In some situations, this implication is the furthest from the truth. Corrupt influence can also occur through affection; as we grow relationships with certain people around us we start to trust their opinion. Clearly this person has earned this trust over time as you have developed a relationship with them, however, under certain circumstances, this person could use the trust you have empowered them with for their personal gain. Embezzlement may occur in many different circumstances. Sometimes, it can cost a person to lose millions of dollars to another individual or something as simple as a small, every day product. Embezzlement may be defined by fraudulent conversion of another s property or money by a person to whom it has been entrusted. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki /Circumcision_controversy_in_early_Christianity) As the Gentiles did not follow kashruth, many Christian Jews refused to eat with Christian Gentiles, believing them to be unclean and not acceptable. This had implications for church fellowship and for the ritual celebration of the Lord s Supper. Paul challenged this belief, (Galatians 2: 11 14) most strongly at the Council of Jerusalem in 50 CE. This lead to the decision by the early Christian leaders to enable Gentiles as well as Jews to be followers of Jesus of Nazareth and to call themselves Christians. Permitting freedom from the laws of kashruth and circumcision allowed Christianity to spread more freely amongst the Gentiles and is why Paul is so significant today. Thus, he asserts that there is no resolution, as the play ends with Clov standing in front of the door, all packed to go, but unable to leave. Therefore, to be able to recognize Beckett s dramatic method he states that it becomes necessary to look at Hamm and Clovs relationship, from which it arises. Easthope believes that Clov is only a pawn dominated by Hamm s active ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I don t really know the genre it is in. 3: What is the primary message of the text being told? What is it trying to teach me? 4: How do the characters relate to one another? The style of the text is in a form of telling the readers about Jesus transfiguration. The style that the writer uses/that Jesus uses is in such way giving many symbolism; the words used has many symbolism. It is a descriptive style. The scene of the text is when Jesus took Peter, James, and John up to a high mountain, this, I am assuming symbolizes going to a secluded area maybe because Jesus didn t want ... • 53. Evaluating The Redistributive Crime That Occurs By Using A... Often retailers will overtly protect expensive, top shelf products, but this may actually result in the increased theft of less secure, bottom shelf goods. This incidence is referred to as redistributive crime. There is a loss prevention (LP) department in retail companies that is specifically tasked with minimizing product loss, commonly referred to as inventory shrink. LP is implemented to reduce the preventable loss of a company s assets by utilizing technologies that mitigate theft and fraud. Retailers continuously adapt their technologies to handle threats, but there are still numerous underlying issues, such as employee theft, fraud, and shoplifting. The increase in technology that consumers have access to threatens LP divisions, because they have made it easier for consumers to steal products, such as ink, and this drives LP to make technological progress in order to prevent further inventory shrinkage. However, there are budget constraints, and efficiency problems that arise with newer, more difficult LP technology. This paper aims to evaluate the redistributive crime that occurs by using a case study within a department of goods and analyzing the security measures available to combat this problem. Not sure how to phrase it, but basically do the EAS systems implemented pay for themselves, does the marginal benefit exceed the marginal cost, each alpha box etc, service... Currently, loss prevention technologies do not meet the challenges of the market completely, there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
