This thinking routine uses a series of images depicting the same color across different cultures to generate student curiosity about cultural meanings of color. Students will view the images and individually consider what they know about color meanings in different cultures, any questions or puzzles the images provoke, and what aspects of the topic they want to explore further. They will then share their ideas in small groups, recording responses on posters to spark whole-class discussion. The goal is to activate prior knowledge and stimulate inquiry about cultural symbolism of color.
