This document provides instructions for using an extension wheel strategy in the classroom to help students analyze and synthesize nouns. Students write a topic in the center circle and then identify singular countable nouns, plural countable nouns, and uncountable nouns in different sections of the wheel. They define the nouns and provide examples to demonstrate understanding of singular versus plural forms. Using this visual strategy allows students to take notes in a creative way while staying engaged.

1. NOUNS EXTENSION WHEEL STRATEGY
Is a great tool for the classroombecauseit allows for students
analysis and synthesis. The students will enjoy taking notes in
such a nontraditional way. Using the strategy encourages
creativity and gives students a break from the normal paper
and-pen notes. The students are engaged and challenged at

Material needed: Extension wheel template (blank sheet);
colors pens/pencils; pictures; colors cardboard.
Directions:
 Have students write the idea/topic in center circle of the
wheel
 Ask student to think individually aboutSingular

 Ask student complete the extension wheel: #1 meaning
of noun; #2 talk about singular and plural (rules)
countable nouns and uncountable nouns; #3 examples
words and statements
 Encourageto students create own statements and write
in the correctpart of the extension wheel.
 Ask students paste pictures and decorate.
