Fear is common to all. We all fear something. Some fear is God given. Children come into this world with a fear of heights and of loud noises. Some fears are there to protect us from physical harm: snakes, darkness, suffocation, being burned, death, etc. In christians, most fear is a tool of satan
I beseech you – beg, urge, encourage, appeal
By the mercies of God – compassion
Present your bodies a living sacrifice – as opposed to a sacrifice of death
Holy, Acceptable to God – pure, without spot or blemish
Your reasonable service – since Christ died for us we should live our lives for him. 2 Corinthians 5:15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.
The word "God" is used about 4500 times in the Bible. In 99.9% of the time, God refers to the Father. Read these scriptures where the word 'Father' is substituted for 'God' and get a better appreciation for the loving, gentle, Father Every Christian has through faith in Jesus.
Philippians 4:1-9 is some of the most beautiful of Paul's writings. Paul begins with an exhortation to put aside our petty differences and work together in the Kingdom of God. He encourages them to not be anxious but have a peace of mind that surpasses human understanding. His prayer is that all of the church would meditate on things honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent and worthy of praise!
What is the real message of this little one chapter book? it is the story of forgiveness - Philemon had to forgive Philemon to receive him back. it is a story of reconciliation - restoring a relationship that had been lost. And it is a story of a changed relationship - from slave to brother; from master to brother!

What is the Gospel of Jesus Christ? Why is proclaiming the Gospel of Christ necessary? What are some reactions you have had when you shared the Gospel? Why do many people react negatively to the Gospel of Christ? (John 6:60-66; Mark 6:1-6)
Our relationship with God is like a dance. God has a part and we have a part. God will always fulfill His part, but He will not fulfill our part. Listen to this sermon to understand this truth. This is Part 2 of our Feb 2014 sermon series entitled, "Falling in love with Jesus."

What is our moral compass? Everyone has some theological moral compass. As a Christian, our moral compass should be the word of God. Many in the world use television, social media, the teachings of men, parents, or their college professor as their guideline for formulating their moral compass. How do Christians point the way to Christ and His word as a compass of right and wrong?

We can't truly appreciate God's provision of grace until we understand the need for grace
Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…
The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

2. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right,
whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is
excellent or praiseworthy--think on these things.
- Philippians 4:8 NASB
THINK ON THESE THINGS

3. Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to
the Father but through Me.”
- John 14:6 NASB

4. Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.
- John 17:17 NASB

5. 31 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you
continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; 32 and you will
know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
- John 8:31-32 NASB

6. Women must likewise be dignified, not malicious gossips, but temperate,
faithful in all things.
- 1 Timothy 3:11 NASB
THINK ON THESE THINGS: Whatever is Honorable
Slide 6 of 13
7. Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.
- Luke 6:31 NASB

8. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of
His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
- Romans 5:10 NASB
THINK ON THESE THINGS: Whatever is Right
Slide 8 of 13
9. 2 For I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy; for I betrothed you to one
husband, so that to Christ I might present you as a pure virgin. 3 But I am
afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be
led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ. 4 For if one
comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you
receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel
which you have not accepted, you bear this beautifully.
- 2 Corinthians 11:2-4 NASB
THINK ON THESE THINGS: Whatever is Pure
Slide 9 of 13
10. 1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For brothers to dwell together in unity!
2 It is like the precious oil upon the head,
Coming down upon the beard,
Even Aaron’s beard,
Coming down upon the edge of his robes.
3 It is like the dew of Hermon
Coming down upon the mountains of Zion;
For there the LORD commanded the blessing—life forever.
- Psalm 133:1-3 NASB
THINK ON THESE THINGS: Whatever is Lovely
Slide 10 of 13
11. 15 For this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which
exists among you and your love for all the saints, 16 do not cease giving
thanks for you, while making mention of you in my prayers; 17 that the God of
our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom
and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.
- Ephesians 1:15-17 NASB
THINK ON THESE THINGS: Whatever is Admirable
Slide 11 of 13
12. 9 But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A
PEOPLE FOR God’s OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the
excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous
light; 10 for you once were NOT A PEOPLE, but now you are THE PEOPLE
OF GOD; you had NOT RECEIVED MERCY, but now you have RECEIVED
MERCY.
- 1 Peter 2:9-10 NASB
THINK ON THESE THINGS: If Anything is Excellent
Slide 12 of 13
13. 7 And He came and took the book out of the right hand of Him who sat on the
throne. 8 When He had taken the book, the four living creatures and the
twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one holding a harp and
golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 9 And they
sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are You to take the book and to break its
seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from
every tribe and tongue and people and nation. 10 “You have made them to
be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth.”
