Sidney s The Defence of Poesy and Television Commercials...
Sidney s The Defence of Poesy and Television Commercials
I know that something major has changed in the world of television when my sons refuse requests to
turn the set off with the comment, Just let me finish watching this commercial. I have always thought
that commercials were something to endure until the real program came back on. Apparently some of
them have now become the form of entertainment par excellence of the medium.
What do TV commercials have to do with Sidney s The Defence of Poesy? More than one might
think. Faced with the Puritans attack against poetry who saw it as a secondary form of knowledge,
called it the mother of lies and believed that it fed the fires of passion, Sidney responds with a
practical argument: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Well, I am exaggerating a bit, but certainly the arts were not in the same league as farming and
preaching. When my father in law evaluated a story or a film, he wanted to know whether it was true
or not. Fiction lowered it to an inferior level of truth.
Why the Mennonite mistrust of the arts? I believe that it can be traced to our traditional belief in
conformity to the community and non conformity to the world. The strong emphasis on conformity
put certain restraints on the imagination; remaining non conformed to the world meant that one could
not emulate or profit from non Mennonite artists. So unless the arts were used directly to support our
faith and the values of the community (such as congregational music, quilting, preaching, etc.)., they
tended to be seen as frivolous or downright dangerous. One should not ridicule that argument; if the
arts truly have the power to move us and if the best come from the outside world, it is only logical that
the Amish Mennonite culture would take steps to protect itself.
So when Sidney tries to change the mind of his Puritan critics, his strongest argument is based upon
the assumption that good poetry will cause people to act more virtuously. Puritans and Mennonites
would both appreciate that approach. If one believes that good literature results in

Summary Of Fear And Loathing In America
In the article Fear Loathing in America by Hunter S. Thompson. The author described the dreadful
Tuesday morning including victims, enormous destroyed and the chaos that ensued in the following
that day. In addition to declaring the war and the Christian Jihad by this gawker work, he sparked the
religious war.
His words will make the American people hate and fear of the other religions especially the Islam.
After he said We are going to punish somebody for this attack ... Maybe Afghanistan, maybe Pakistan
or Iraq, or possibly all three at once. (Thompson, 2001, p.9) Instead of these words, he should say we
will punish who committed these tragic events and the American people will keep one hand in the face

Finally, we should ask ourselves this question, who is behind the events of September 11? who is the

British Youth Culture s Perception Of Drugs Essay
There is a common notion that drugs in the modernist era were used as a tool for youths to enhance or
escape reality; much of this statement is true, though this has been the case for most of history. The
unique aspect of British youth culture and its recreational use of drugs is that it produces a platform
for the normalization of the perception of an array of drugs. Since the mid twentieth century, the
prevalence of drug use among adolescents has witnessed a steady, upward curve; this may indicate an
actual increase in the number of participants using drugs, but more so reveals a more open, honest
mindset towards recreational drug use, despite the obvious health risks. Since the 1950s, British youth
culture s approach to drugs radically changed people s perception of drugs; it not only embraced
recreational drug use, but gradually normalized it over time. This has resulted in an open, casual
attitude towards a series of narcotics within British youth culture. This is credited to social, economic,
and political issues as well as the evolving leisurely activities, music and trends that took place during
the Mod era to today.
While drugs have always been a part of society, its perception and sense of casualness changed after
the Second World War due to economic, social, and political factors. Post war Britain (as well as
America) saw a parallel increase in both population and the economy, creating the Boom Generation
as well as a new consumerist society. This is crucial in

The Importance Of Effective Communication Skills
I have developed my effective communication skills over the past few years whilst working both my
current jobs; Vue Cinema and Sainsbury s, whilst studying Law at Leeds Beckett University. In order
to effectively communicate with others I believe it is essential to listen to, not just hear people s views.
This includes what words have been spoken, but also how they have been spoken, taking note both the
person s body language and tone of voice.
An example of when I have utilised this skill is when I notice customers struggling with their packing
at Sainsbury s and I volunteer to help them, even if I am currently not serving them. Customers often
do not ask for help, but I assess the situation through a customer s body language and facial
expressions to determine whether to help. Packing, even though a seemingly small task, involves
constant effective communication, this allows myself to understand the customer s requirements and
needs as to how and what should be packed. Effective communication builds a colleague customer
relationship, in result creating a trust between them and the company.
Effective communication also involves being aware of others emotions i.e. being sympathetic to other
people s misfortune and using empathy to put yourself in the other persons shoes . I use first names
where appropriate, this helps to build a relationship with the person I am talking to, making them my
equal. Effective communication involves good eye contact, I make and maintain eye

How Does Tim O Brien Use Anaphora In The Ghost Soldier
In The Ghost Soldiers vignette from The Things They Carried, Tim O Brien uses anaphora in the form
of repeating the word you to place the reader in his war experience, ultimately to portray how war can
transform any individual to become illusioned and rely on only the logic of their instincts. When O
Brien describes his understanding of fear after pulling several night guard duties in Vietnam, he
describes it to be where you think about dark closets, mad men, murderers under the bed, all those
childhood fears...You see ghosts. You blink and shake your head. Bullshit, you tell yourself (205). To
O Brien, the darkness can transform superficial horrors in daylight into real solid substances that
seems to be closest to reality. For the audience ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
O Brien may have believed it in the beginning, when he was still a greenie , but one exposure to the
real war environment can quickly change his mind. War is not like the movies, movies that shows the
perfect courageous good always defeating the obvious evil. It s impossible for a real soldier to follow
the footsteps of heroes in entertainment, and he wants to emphasize this point to the readers: You re
not human anymore. You re a shadow. You slip out of your own skin, like molting, shedding your own
history and your own future, or leaving behind everything you ever were or wanted or believed in.
You know you re about to die. And it s not a movie and you aren t a hero and all you can do is
whimper and wait (211). The emotions he feels at the time is hard to put into words, and so he makes
the reader try to experience it, just as he wants Bobby Jorgenson to experience it. Because O Brien has
accumulated familiarity with this irrational fear soldiers experience, he feels like this is a punishment
suitable in its notoriety for a new soldier like Jorgenson, and would hopefully get back at the pain he
had endured from the medic s failed aid to his gunshot

Faith And Faith In The Novel Night By Elie Wiesel
Faith is like a little seed, if you think about the positive aspects of the situation, then it will grow like
how a seed grows when you water it. But if the seed does not receive water anymore, it will die like
how the horrors and negativity of the concentration camps killed Elie s faith. After the analyzation of
the novel Night by Elie Wiesel the reader can visualize the horrors and slaughtering of millions of
innocent people that occurred in concentration camps. Throughout the book, Elie explains how his
faith in God was tested, as he was forced to leave his home, separated from his family, observe how
much was being killed all around him, and witness children being thrown into huge ditches of fire,
alive! Elie felt abandoned, betrayed, and deceived, the God that he knew was a loving and giving God,
it was then he started to doubt his existence. Elie tries to hold on to his faith but the childhood
innocence has disappeared from within him and he loses his faith completely in God, whom he
thought would rescue him from his suffering.
In the beginning of the book, Elie s faith in God is so strong that he never questioned the existence of
God. He wanted to get closer to God by studying the Jewish texts more. One day I asked my father to
find me a master who could guide me in my studies of Kabbalah (4). Elie s father rejects this idea and
says he is too young, but even after his father said no, Elie goes to Moshe the Beadle and learns the

Surgical Wound Essay
Although pilonidal sinus cannot be considered a debilitating disease, patients are confronted with
discomfort and a lower degree of quality of life due to some complications like the formation of
abscess, sinus related drainage, and pain12,13. The recurrence is often due to the omission of any tract
during the initial operation, infection of the wound, or abscess formation, that may lead to the
formation of the new sinus tract inside the cicatrizing surgical wound. Accumulation of debris or dead

Beacon Hill Study Case
Beacon Street
1. How did Leonard go about searching for and evaluating property?
Just like any investor, Leonard is taking into considerations many different aspects: demographics,
amenities, rent averages and county regulation. Considered that Leonard is looking for a long term
source of income, he is looking at properties with an expected low depreciation, a maximized capital
appreciation and an increasing market value in the foreseeable future. Given his $25,000 and an
expected return on the investment of 8%, Leonard realized he would have to look for properties in the
back slope of Beacon Hill, where real estate had a great potential market growth. In order to meet all
his expectations and at the same ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To do so, he s investing $55,000 and planning to finish the work within 4 months. First of all, to save
up some money Leonard decided to be his own contractor and supervise those who will actually do
the job. This plan has many flaws. First, he has a full time job that would allow him to look after the
premises only during his free time; if so, the irregularity by which Leonard would run the renovation
of the house would highly damage the speed at which the job will be completed, rendering his
estimate of a ready to rent property within 4 months highly unrealistic. Also, Leonard fails to keep into
consideration the opportunity cost of the time he will invest in the property; by completing some jobs
on his own, Leonard plans on saving money, truth is, he will be spending money for, example, tools.
4. Should Leonard make this investment?
No. Assuming Leonard takes over the existing mortgage and has access to the $160,000 lent by the
bank, plus his $25,000, he would have $185,000 available to invest, which would cover for the cost of
purchasing the property and half the cost of renovating it.
Now, if instead Leonard started a new loan and obtained $210,000, estimated a market value of the
premises of $265,500, by summing up all the costs to purchase the house and open the loan, he would
still be $6,500 short. He expects to make up for that gap, by finishing the renovation of the premises
within 4 months, but also planned to be his own contractor while

Lydia Seated In A Cafe Analysis
Lydia Seated in a Lounge, by Mary Cassatt, and Au Café, by Edouard Manet, are two pieces of work
that were created in the modern era. Both paintings possess the characteristics of modern paintings;
the quick, light brush strokes that portrays a sense of ephemerality and movement. However, these two
works differ heavily when placed in the social contexts of the time period, which revolved heavily
around the idea of sexuality. From 1860 1900, the social fabric of Paris transformed enormously, and
as a consequence, the social perception of women and men changed drastically. Looking at the two
paintings, gender plays a paramount role in the understanding of the subject as well as the painting as
a whole. This idea is further emphasized by the idea of the Flaneur, the Gaze, and the social spheres
that were formed at the time. During this period, the idea of separate spheres came into being as a
consequence of increased social interactions. There were public spheres, such as the cafes, restaurants,
and theaters, which were occupied predominately by men. Women on the other hand occupied the
private sphere, which consisted of their homes and other much more secluded areas. For women to go
to these cafes and expose themselves to the public degraded them in the eyes of society. Some would
go as far to say that for a woman to maintain her respectability and femininity, it was best not to
expose herself to the public at all. (Pollock) The context of the painting emphasizes this idea

There are many renewable and nonrenewable resources that are being harmed in this world. One

Renaissance Era Addiction
The Renaissance Era was the period immediately following the Middle Ages. The Renaissance Era
brought back an interest in classical learning and values of ancient Greece and Rome. While the
Renaissance brought back classical learning and values, it brought with it addition. Addiction is
described as a compulsive need for and use of a habit forming substance characterized by tolerance
and by well defined physiological symptoms upon withdrawal. (https://www.merriam

opium. Another cause of addiction during the Renaissance Era is the lead based make up. Lastly,
alcoholism was another source of addiction that plagued the people of the Renaissance Era. This essay
will be used to discuss how these addictions began, their probable outcome, health issues related to
these addictions, and how we treat these addictions today. First, the origin of Opium within the
Renaissance Era will be discussed. Opium poppy spread from its original homeland somewhere
between the Western Mediterranean and Asia Minor into southern Europe in Neolithic times and
spread across the Middle East and Asia. Arabs were the main traders of opium on global trade routes
and within the eastern Mediterranean until Venice rose as the premier Mediterranean commercial hub
by the 13th/14th centuries, and with it took over the trade in what was at this time still a wholly legal
substance, largely used as a

Mr. Arend Lljphart Is An Author Of A Book Called Patterns...
Mr. Arend Lljphart is an author of a book called Patterns of Democracy. The book examines the forms
and performance of governments in thirty six countries. Patterns of Democracy is seventeen chapters
long. Below, there will be a critical analysis of a claim or a particular theory in the first seven chapters
on the merits of the claim or theory.
To start with, chapter one is an introduction to what is to come. It claims that two models of governing
the majoritarian model and the consensus model exist. In a majoritarian model, a governing body will
seek to satisfy a will of a bare majority or even a will of a plurality of a governed body. Alternatively,
in a consensus model, a governing body will seek to form a consensus to fulfill the wishes of as many
people as possible. Even in a democracy, it is possible for a government to listen to the wishes of a
minority while ignoring the will of the majority and attempt to convince the majority that the minority
has a point here.
Secondly, the title of the next chapter of the book is the Westminster model of democracy. As the
author noted, this is another name of the majoritarian model. It is unclear why the author felt a need to
dedicate a chapter to this. That said, he effectively gives three countries that fit this group.
Furthermore, the author listed ten characteristics of the model and how England, New Zealand, and
Barbados comply and deviate from the model as well as any qualification that needs to occur in the
group.

the most powerful and motivated I have read. Each and every speech he spoke riled his troops and
made them want to crush the Nazis and win the war. Many people dislike Patton and his speeches

Examples Of Archetypes In The Lamb By William Blake
True Meaning
(A discussion on Blake s Archetypes)
An archetype is defined as a recurrent symbol in literature, art, and mythology. Usually an archetype is
a character in a story that represents such universal patterns of human nature. William Blake is a poet
and an artist during the 1800 s who used archetypes in many of his writing s he wrote. Blake
published two books of poems, one being called Songs of Innocence, and Songs of experience, these
two books of poems are his most known writings. William Blake uses archetypes in his four poems
The Lamb , The Tyger , The Chimney Sweeper , and Infant Sorrow .
In The Lamb , the lamb is the archetype that symbolizes as cute and sweet. In the poem Blake s
describes the lamb as softest clothing of delight . He explains the lambs wool as soft and elegant.
Blake talks about the lambs sound explaining Gave thee such a tender voice, making all the vales
rejoice. Blake explains that the lambs noise can make the most depressed valley s happy with joy. The
lamb is symbolized as sweet an innocent. Blake decided that the lamb is one of God s great creations.
In The Tyger Blake uses the tyger as an archetype of power. Tigers in the real world today are the
biggest killing/hunting machines, and they never let anything get in their way. Tigers want all the
power. Blake explains What immortal hand or eye, could frame thy fearful symmetry? . He uses the
word fearful in that sentence to describe the tigers face. He also used the word could in the quote
above, but also restates the statement using dare instead of could. Blake is trying to get at how could
someone make something so destructive and demanding. Blake uses fire to describe the tiger several
times. For example, In what distant deeps or skies burnt the fire of thine eyes. Blake s uses fire to
describe the tiger because they share similar qualities, such as being deadly and harmful to many
living things. William Blake did a excellent job at explaining how a tiger is a good archetype for
power.
In The Chimney Sweeper uses archetypes to represent faith. Blake is able to use these chimney
sweepers as a good archetype for faith because they often go through very hard lives. When my
mother died I

The Birth Evolution Of Trinidad Carnival
Beginning in the late 1700s, the festival known as Carnival was introduced to various parts of the
world as a public celebration or parade that involved the use of masks, musical elements, costumes
and more. Dating back to the 18th century, the Trinidad Carnival was introduced around the time of
the arrival of the French Catholic planters from the French West Indies. The festival originated in the
early 1780s when both white and colored people staged masquerade balls at Christmas time for
entertainment. From there, it developed into playful taunting between the two groups and eventually
the tradition evolved to mark the approaching Catholic Lenten season. Unable to participate, the West
African slaves of the planters held their own masked festivals, focused around the burning and reaping
of the sugar cane. For all groups, mockery and veneer played a great role in the custom ( Birth
Evolution of Trinidad Carnival ). Following the slave emancipation in 1838, Canboulay was viewed as
a symbol of independence and defiance. Over time this converged with stickfighting, chanting, and
drumming, and the rituals of Canboulay became something of a masquerade. After great conflict with
the British colonial government, who were insistent on banning drumming, masquerade, and the steel
pan the festival was eventually adopted as a symbol of Trinidadian culture during the independence
movement ( The Birth Evolution of Trinidad Carnival ). A great deal of the musical aspect of

Macbeth Theme Of Integrity
Integrity is doing the right thing, knowing that nobody s going to know whether you did it or not.
Having integrity means doing the right thing in a reliable way. It s a personality trait that we admire,
since it means a person has a moral compass that doesn t waver. It literally means having wholeness of
character, just as an integer is a whole number with no fractions. Physical objects can display integrity,
too if you re going over a rickety old bridge that sways in the wind, you might question its structural
integrity. Integrity is a combination of the words, integritas (in teg ri tas) and integer (in te ger). It
refers to the putting on of armor, of building a completeness.

After He was baptized, He went into the wilderness to fast for forty days and nights, during which

showing a pattern of good works. As sinful human beings, our integrity is flawed, but Jesus integrity is
perfect. When we are in Christ, we partake of His divine nature, having been given new natures in
Christ, and that new nature is one of integrity because it is His nature. In the Bible it says For we do
not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect

Economic Improvements In The 1700s And 1800s
The 1700s and 1800s bought big changes for the United States. The United States became stronger
due to economic improvements, the War of 1812 and the westward movements. Part of the reason that
the United States became stronger is because of economic improvements. These economic
improvements include: the National Bank, the American System, and The First Industrial Revolution.
When Alexander Hamilton called 8jmfor a Bank of the United States, he imagined a central bank that
would strengthen the national economy. This would allow for the growth in business without relying
on exports to increase money. Hamilton argued that the bank would strengthen the government by
lending money. The First Bank of the United States brought more strength to the United States money
and expanded the economy more than what was expected. Many congressmen claimed that the bank
was unconstitutional and supported the North over the South. In 1811, they rejected to restate the
charter of the First Bank of the United States. In 1828, Andrew Jackson was elected president and was
seeking change because he was frustrated with the central bank. He lost everything during the market
expansion and blamed the banking system for his financial problems. President Jackson declared war
on the Second Bank in 1829. Congress struggled with the issue of the national government s
encouraging economic development. Henry Clay made an approach that was called the American
System. It consisted of: a duty to protect the

Chemoprevention Essay
Chemoprevention is assigned by either selecting prevention of esophageal acid exposure using proton
pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy or modulation of pro inflammatory mechanisms45. Proton pump
inhibitors (PPIs) are used generally in the handling of acid related disorders. They function by
permanently obstructing the hydrogen/potassium adenosine triphosphatase enzyme system (the
H+/K+ ATPase, or, more frequently, the gastric proton pump) of the gastric parietal cells. The proton
pump is the terminal stage in gastric acid secretion and is directly accountable for secreting H+ ions
into the gastric lumen, leading the pump to be an excellent target for preventing acid secretion.
Targeting the terminal step in acid production, as well as the irreversible nature of the inhibition,
results in a class of drugs that are considerably more efficient than H2 ... Show more content on

he Death of Benny Paret by Norman Mailer
Fierce, vehement, and feral, Emile Griffith punched Benny Paret 18 times within a mere 3 seconds.
These crucial 3 seconds became life changing for the enduring Benny Paret as he confronted death;
unfortunately, Paret could not bear the deep wound inflicted to him by Griffith and has passed away.
In the stands, the audience was frightened by what they saw, but one in particular, Norman Mailer,
was also appalled and incredulous in what he had witnessed. Afterwards, Norman Mailer published a
passage, The Death of Benny Paret, describing the brutal fight and delineating his perspective on the
issue. In The Death of Benny Paret, Norman Mailer utilized stylistic devices such as diction, literary
devices, and syntax to give the reader an overall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the story, Mailer also interspersed various literary devices such as figurative language and
similes. Similes were ubiquitous in this passage because Mailer wants the reader who didn t witness
the event to know how it felt by using everyday examples that the reader can relate to. In the passage,
the reader learns that Griffith was in like a cat ready to rip the life out of a huge boxed rat. By this
simile, the reader can relate to the issue which increases his empathy to the situation. The reader
knows that a cat chasing a rat shows that the rat is in a predicament of life and death which is
analogous to the life and death situation between Griffith and Paret. Also, the quote ...like a baseball
demolishing a pumpkin... let the reader learn how the extent of Griffith s punches seemed by
comparing two situations: a baseball demolishing a pumpkin and Griffith punching Paret s face.
Inferring from the instance of the baseball and pumpkin, the reader would feel appalled even
apprehensive. Moreover, the reader would pity Paret while resent Griffith due to his aggressive
attitude. Mailer also uses figurative language to show Griffith s lack of ethics and his truculent
behavior. This figurative language is provided in the quote ...he was off on an orgy, he had left the

Summer Reflection Paper
My 2016 summer was a great journey. I was engulfed with driving and traveling around with my
family. During the summer my family and i bought a new lake house. So, almost every week we
would drive up there. I loved it cause i got wake up to the smell of the lake. I d get to see the white fog
covering the icy feeling of the lake in the morning. I really enjoyed it because when i m up there, i feel
it relieves so much stress. I don t have to worry about the news or school. To me it s almost like a new
world. Also, I love going out on the lake, doing tubing and more. Overall the lake is a fun place to go
to get away from the rest of the world and relax. Also to spend time with family. Another big part of
me being up there so much was that I eventually got to know the owners of the local marina on the
lake. Eventually i got to know them so well, that i decided to apply for a job there. With a little help
from my mom, i was able to fill out a form and turn it in. Before i even knew it I got the job! It was
fun and a big experience for me. It was big for me because this was actually was my first official job
experience, on the books. My mom actually said to me, James make sure you act like a professional
when at work. You never know what life skills you might learn there. I got to work the cash register
and in the kitchen, cooking foods etc. One of my favorite memories was that i got to meet new people
and get introduced to their lifestyles. The other people who worked there were around the ages 16 21.
It was fun because we were all teenagers and around the same age. We would talk about hanging out
after work and It was a new but fun experience for me. Another thing that was cool about my job at
the marina is that I could either swim or walk there in less than 5 minutes. One cool thing about
working there is that every Friday and Saturday night there would be concerts at the marina and a ton
of people would come. My boss would get me to serve food and beverages to the people who ordered
It for the concert. Overall this part of of my summer crafted me into a hard working and dedicated kid.

Vehicle Enhancements Research Paper
Vehicle Enhancements Do you want your vehicle to reach a higher top speed than expected, but do not
know what enhancements to use for it to be done safely? Although there are many upgrades that can
improve speed, you also need to improve down force and weight reduction to reach maximum
potential. If the three of these are not done, then when reaching high speeds the vehicle may flip
because it does not have the proper down force it needs to hold it to the ground. When the car has too
much weight it could keep it from reaching the highest possible speed it can handle. So how can we
first improve speed?
To most people, speed is the only thing a car or truck needs to win a race. One way to help enhance
the speed is to add a multitude of parts, some of which are as follows: Super charger, nitrous, turbo,
and performance chips. These are just a few of the many options one may run into. Super chargers
increase the power of an engine (Harris, William). They do this by increasing the pressure or density
of air supplied to an internal combustion engine. Another way that is also cheaper than ... Show more

make your vehicle too light is by acquiring and installing fiberglass body panels, aluminum driveshaft,
aluminum differential, and much more. The fiberglass body panels managed to reduce the weight of a
1970 Plymouth Duster by 212 pounds alone (Magnante, Steve). 212 pounds being subtracted from a
3,012 pound car is an amazing weight loss when looking to increase power. An aluminum driveshaft

Critical Race Theory And Conflict Theory Paper
Critical Race Theory and Conflict Theory Society contains groups with diverse interests, where
competing interests encourage conflict (Hutchison, 2013). The racial ideology in the United States is
the belief in a hierarchy of races with whites at the top and other races grouped underneath (Robbins,
Chatterjee, Canda, 2011). One way minorities are depicted as different from whites is through imagery
that creates detachment and seclusion between groups (Ortiz Jani, 2010).
Critical Race Theory Critical race theory (CRT) assumes this society was created to empower White
people; CRT is focused on transforming the relationships between race and racial power assembled by
law and culture (Delgado Stefancic, 2012). This theory suggests that racism is embedded in American
society (Helms, 2006), looking at how racial pride in being White can be exhibited in tolerable ways
or as White superiority (Delgado Stefancic, 2012). As a post modern theory, CRT encourages
structural approach by attending to the problems of a diverse society, instead of purely increasing
access to obtainable opportunities and resources (Ortiz Jani, 2011). History is ... Show more content

life as a slave. Frederick Douglass was born in Talbot County, Maryland around the year 1817 or

Frederick Douglass appears to be rather smart and well minded compared to the other slaves. He was
briefly taught how to read and write by Sophia Auld. Once Sophia s husband, Douglass master, found
out she was teaching him how to read and write, he immediately ordered her to stop teaching.
Douglass stated, The very decided manner with which he spoke, and strove to impress his wife with
the evil consequences of giving me instruction, served to convince me that he was deeply sensible of
the truths he was uttering . What he most dreaded, that I most desired. What he most loved, that I most
hated. That which to him was a great evil, to be carefully shunned, was to me a great good, to be
diligently sought; and the argument which he so warmly urged, against my learning to read, only
served to inspire me with a desire and determination to learn (Douglass). That quote by Frederick
Douglass is very powerful, and goes to show how strong his motivation was to better his life. Soon
after that, Douglass was able to teach himself a bit more on how to read and write. He was a smart
man, and he was very knowledgeable. After seeing the gruesome shooting of Demby by Mr. Gore,
Douglass was able to reenact the scene, explaining all of the little details he witnessed. In a way, he

Manners Changed Manners
How Manners Have Changed Over Time
As Americans, we often talk about the different changes that are taking place in our country and
society. One of those changes is manners, when I was growing up, it was very important to have
manners. This was the only acceptable behavior by adults, and parents would often say, practicing
manners outside of home was a representation of them which made me mannerism When a person
sees a child with manners, that child automatic shows their parent s teaching. I believe, due to the rise
of technology, parent s avoiding teaching their children proper manners and the lack of social skills,
the use of proper etiquette and manners is progressively fading away.
Therefore, with the rise of technology, people have adjusted manners as times have changed.
Particularly in America, with all the use of the different electronics devices such as: smart phones,
smart watches, laptops, computer devices, and etc., have almost obstruct the way we once view proper
etiquette and manners. Proper etiquette like dinner table is one of those manners that have taken its

Essay on Hospitality in The Hebrew Scriptures
To welcome the other, the friend or the stranger, is a fundamental aspect of human society, friendship,
love and life. It is the intersection of two lives, an event that can fundamentally alter the paths of all
those involved. This importance within the basic functioning of human life makes the recognition of
hospitality as a central theme of the Hebrew Scriptures an unsurprising reality. With this in mind then,
through this essay we will examine the understanding of hospitality laid out in the canonical scriptures
of the Hebrew Bible. Through exploring the events of Abraham s meeting guests in Genesis 18, the
text of terror in Judges 19 in which hospitality is violated and the story of the book of Ruth, we will

These entwined moments of welcome add to the already high significance societies place upon
hospitality by alluding to a divine presence among those who meet, reinforcing the importance of this
practice for those who attempt to follow the Hebrew Faith.
Perhaps on of the most important occurrences of the practice of hospitality in the Hebrew Scriptures,
and identified by some sources as paradigmatic , the encounter of Abraham with three strangers in
Genesis 18 reflects the divinely entwined hospitality mentioned earlier. In this account, the patriarch
Abraham is seen as offering the idealized fulfillment of true hospitality through the overwhelming
nature of his actions and offerings. From the beginning of the story, we see Abraham go out of his way
to greet and welcome the guest, from the initial running to meet them before bowing in their presence,
through to the offer of bread and the reality of a far greater feast, Abraham spares nothing in his
encounter with the strangers. These actions take on further meaning when referenced in light of the
readers awareness that one of these strangers is The Lord (Gen 18:1). Through the introduction of the
divine character, and this character s acceptance of Abraham s hospitality , a paradigm is established
in the story that is found throughout the rest of the Hebrew Scriptures. Because of the paradigmatic
model of

In past few decades there have been phenomenal innovations in the field of wireless communication.
The wireless communication has completely transformed the world of internet with the technology
like Wi Fi. The Wi Fi technology uses 2.4 5GHz RF for sending the data at high speeds. But, Wi Fi
has some drawbacks such as, it has limited range up to only 100 metres and also bandwidth limited up

The transmitted signal is the converted into binary bits. The switch is used to to turn on the LED bulb.
The LED bulb transmits the binary bit. Speed of transmission is dependent on the turn on and turning
off speed of LED bulb. Normally in Li fi system the speed of transmission is very high as the LED is
turned on and off at speed of nanoseconds. The transmission of data in Li Fi is in form of 1 s and 0
s.When LED is on it transmits 1 and when it is off it transmits 0. The data transmitted by the LED is
received by the Li Fi dongle connected to the system operating on the Li Fi. This Dongle consists of
photo detector, amplification and processing section and data receiving section. The photo detector
detects the light and then converts it into the appropriate electrical signal. This signal is then given
forward for amplification and processing. The signal is then processed and amplified for sending it to
the user. Due to amplification of the signal the user receives a high speed. As the computer or
electronics devices operates on digital signals so the amplified electrical signal is then converted back
into digital form and given to the user device operating on it. As the Li Fi system consists of basic
elements that are available easily so the Li Fi system is cheaper as compared to Wi Fi.
IV. AREAS OF APPLICATION
1. Medical Application:
As the Li Fi uses light for transmission of data. So, the Li Fi rays are not harmful to human body.
Therefore, Li Fi can be used in the hospitals. The various medical instruments can be made more

How Did Ww2 Affect Canada
The Second World War was the largest and most violent war to date. With an estimated 50 80 million
deaths and more than 50% civilian casualties, this makes WWII one of the deadliest wars in human
history. WWII was a turning point for Canada and its role in International conflict. Canada proved
itself a strong force in battle, and put on a unified front along with the other Allied powers. WWII also
caused some harmful effects for Canada such as loss of many Canadian lives and a terrible defeat

World War Two was the first time that Canada was able to decide as a country whether or not to join

reached the port of Dieppe . The German forces completely inialted almost all traces of Canadian
soldiers and this battle goes down in history as the most disastrous battle for Canada. This disaster
resulted in many deaths for Canadian soldiers and also was a major setback for Canada in the

What Was The Age Of Exploration Essay
The Age of Exploration was one of the most influential time periods in European history. This period
lasted from the 15th century and to the early 17th century. From explorers like Magellan to Columbus.
The voyages they took had a great impact on society. Though the desire to simply explore the
unknown and discover new knowledge is a typical human trait, the world s famous explorers often
lacked the funding needed for a ship, supplies, and a crew to get underway on their journeys. As a
result, many turned to their respective governments which had their own desires for the exploration of
new areas. Many nations were looking for goods such as silver and gold, but one of the biggest
reasons for exploration was the desire to find a new route for ... Show more content on

was a great time in history. The pros just out weight the cons of the time. Yes it introduced new deadly
disease but evently if people move across the world later on in time the same thing with diseases
would have occur. Some people argue that less people would not have died on ships if they didn t try

Elie Wiesel s Night Essays
Night
In Night, by Elie Wiesel, there is an underlying theme of anger. Anger not directed where it seems
most appropriate at the Nazis but rather a deeper, inbred anger directed towards God. Having once
been a role model of everything a good Jew should be, Wiesel slowly transforms into a faithless
human being. He cannot comprehend why the God who is supposed to love and care for His people
would refuse to protect them from the Germans. This anger grows as Wiesel does and is a constant
theme throughout the book.
Early in Night, Elie Wiesel begins to express doubt about his faith. Some talked of God, of his
mysterious ways, ...and of their future deliverance. But I had ceased to pray. How I sympathized with
Job! I did ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What does Your greatness mean, Lord of the universe, in the face of all this weakness, this
decomposition, and this decay? Why do You still trouble their sick minds, their crippled bodies? (63)
In this passage Wiesel has become more overtly angry with God. He no longer hides behind the
reverence he has grown up knowing. Rather he is openly charging God with not only the destruction
of the Jewish people, but also with continually plaguing their thoughts. Having the false hope that God
may one day save them seems like a cruel joke. Wiesel seems to be saying that if God has already
decided not to save them, than the least He can do is quit allowing the people to pray to and follow
Him.
Wiesel also seems angry at the thought of comparing God s infinite greatness with the complete
disintegration of the people in the concentration camps. Thinking about God s power and strength
seems impossible when the only people surrounding Wiesel who are in positions of power are the
enemy. It seems almost morbidly amusing that the Jews are relying on this Savior who allows such
horrible conditions to continue. If he is so wonderful, why does he not save them?
Later in Night, Wiesel starts to believe that he has become a stranger among his own people and
religion. He no longer feels any spiritual connection with the other Jewish people.

Effectiveness of Business Intelligence Tools for...
Introduction
Individuals and organizations within current information society have at their disposal vast amount of
data which potential has not fully been used. With the increasing availability of data there is a need to
organize data and to extract knowledge from such data. Data are being accumulated in different
formats and databases, which are usually not connected together, therefore leading to the inefficient
use of valuable information.
Contemporary organisations are therefore seeking the opportunities to improve decision making. With
different people participating in decision making, the scope of particular decisions is in many cases of
global nature (Olszak Ziemba, 2006). Thus there is a great need for tools that are able to ... Show more

Business intelligence represents the use of series of tools to collect, analyze and extract information
which can be used to aid the management process and decision making. It can help to reduce costs and
increase revenue.
According to Petrini (2009) business intelligence has been evolving over the last 35 years. 1970s saw
the appearance of initial versions of analytical packages. In the 1980s, the spreadsheet software,
Excel, was realised. In 1980s and early 1990s executive information systems (EIS) were introduced to
provide senior managers with information from internal and external data, that are relevant in decision
making. However, since EIS required a lot of manual work to convert data, their popularity decreased.
This opened up the opportunity for emergence of business intelligence in 1990s.
Business intelligence can provide companies with accurate data that can be analyzed to support
business strategy therefore enabling companies to better predict effectiveness of their business goals
and ultimately result in a business profit. Business intelligence is already in use in many organizations
today, by finance departments to analyze financial performance, sales and marketing to identify
customer trends, and operations to enhance the efficiency of supply chains. Using real data helps them
answer who, what, where, why and when of related performance (Rylander,2009).

Operational Strategies That Management May Use to Respond...
Operations refers to the transformation of raw materials(inputs) into finished products(outputs). The
operations process is one of the key business functions and is a crucial component to business success.
Like every business, Qantas is affected by many internal and external influences requiring it to have
effective strategies to respond to these influences. Businesses that are able to adopt and utilise
effective operational strategies are able to quickly adapt and either reduce or take advantage of these
influences that impact the business. The effectiveness of these strategies can measured by Qantas
performance and whether or not it is able to hold it s competitive advantage. How well these strategies

By outsourcing, Qantas is able to significantly reduce costs and maintain it s competitive advantage.
However this advantage also has a draw back, hundreds of engineers have also been cut from their
jobs and have had their jobs given to people overseas. This puts a bad reputation on the name of the
business as an Australian business will cut jobs from Australian workers and supple foreign workers
with jobs. Families and friends of these workers may feel resentment towards Qantas and choose to
travel with another airline instead resulting in a loss of customers. This strategy has been effective in
reducing cost but has resulted in a reduction of quality and safety and led to a decreased business
reputation resulting in a loss of customers and stakeholders.
Another strategy that Qantas has used to respond to globalisation is through product differentiation.
Qantas maintained it s competitive advantage by providing a service which was unique and different
to those of it s competitor. Qantas was known for having the best safety record of any airline in the
world . The airline was also true blue Australian and was Australian owned. This made the business
different and attracted customers towards Qantas giving it a competitive edge over it s foreign
competition. Following the deregulation of Qantas, the business has started to lose sight of what it
really was. The business has recently decided to implement another

Sidney s The Defence of Poesy and Television Commercials I know that something major has changed in the world of television when my sons refuse requests to turn the set off with the comment, Just let me finish watching this commercial. I have always thought that commercials were something to endure until the real program came back on. Apparently some of them have now become the form of entertainment par excellence of the medium. What do TV commercials have to do with Sidney s The Defence of Poesy? More than one might think. Faced with the Puritans attack against poetry who saw it as a secondary form of knowledge, called it the mother of lies and believed that it fed the fires of passion, Sidney responds with a practical argument: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Well, I am exaggerating a bit, but certainly the arts were not in the same league as farming and preaching. When my father in law evaluated a story or a film, he wanted to know whether it was true or not. Fiction lowered it to an inferior level of truth. Why the Mennonite mistrust of the arts? I believe that it can be traced to our traditional belief in conformity to the community and non conformity to the world. The strong emphasis on conformity put certain restraints on the imagination; remaining non conformed to the world meant that one could not emulate or profit from non Mennonite artists. So unless the arts were used directly to support our faith and the values of the community (such as congregational music, quilting, preaching, etc.)., they tended to be seen as frivolous or downright dangerous. One should not ridicule that argument; if the arts truly have the power to move us and if the best come from the outside world, it is only logical that the Amish Mennonite culture would take steps to protect itself. So when Sidney tries to change the mind of his Puritan critics, his strongest argument is based upon the assumption that good poetry will cause people to act more virtuously. Puritans and Mennonites would both appreciate that approach. If one believes that good literature results in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. British Youth Culture s Perception Of Drugs Essay There is a common notion that drugs in the modernist era were used as a tool for youths to enhance or escape reality; much of this statement is true, though this has been the case for most of history. The unique aspect of British youth culture and its recreational use of drugs is that it produces a platform for the normalization of the perception of an array of drugs. Since the mid twentieth century, the prevalence of drug use among adolescents has witnessed a steady, upward curve; this may indicate an actual increase in the number of participants using drugs, but more so reveals a more open, honest mindset towards recreational drug use, despite the obvious health risks. Since the 1950s, British youth culture s approach to drugs radically changed people s perception of drugs; it not only embraced recreational drug use, but gradually normalized it over time. This has resulted in an open, casual attitude towards a series of narcotics within British youth culture. This is credited to social, economic, and political issues as well as the evolving leisurely activities, music and trends that took place during the Mod era to today. While drugs have always been a part of society, its perception and sense of casualness changed after the Second World War due to economic, social, and political factors. Post war Britain (as well as America) saw a parallel increase in both population and the economy, creating the Boom Generation as well as a new consumerist society. This is crucial in ... • 7. The Importance Of Effective Communication Skills I have developed my effective communication skills over the past few years whilst working both my current jobs; Vue Cinema and Sainsbury s, whilst studying Law at Leeds Beckett University. In order to effectively communicate with others I believe it is essential to listen to, not just hear people s views. This includes what words have been spoken, but also how they have been spoken, taking note both the person s body language and tone of voice. An example of when I have utilised this skill is when I notice customers struggling with their packing at Sainsbury s and I volunteer to help them, even if I am currently not serving them. Customers often do not ask for help, but I assess the situation through a customer s body language and facial expressions to determine whether to help. Packing, even though a seemingly small task, involves constant effective communication, this allows myself to understand the customer s requirements and needs as to how and what should be packed. Effective communication builds a colleague customer relationship, in result creating a trust between them and the company. Effective communication also involves being aware of others emotions i.e. being sympathetic to other people s misfortune and using empathy to put yourself in the other persons shoes . I use first names where appropriate, this helps to build a relationship with the person I am talking to, making them my equal. Effective communication involves good eye contact, I make and maintain eye ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

You slip out of your own skin, like molting, shedding your own history and your own future, or leaving behind everything you ever were or wanted or believed in. You know you re about to die. And it s not a movie and you aren t a hero and all you can do is whimper and wait (211). But if the seed does not receive water anymore, it will die like how the horrors and negativity of the concentration camps killed Elie s faith. After the analyzation of the novel Night by Elie Wiesel the reader can visualize the horrors and slaughtering of millions of innocent people that occurred in concentration camps. Throughout the book, Elie explains how his faith in God was tested, as he was forced to leave his home, separated from his family, observe how much was being killed all around him, and witness children being thrown into huge ditches of fire, alive! Elie felt abandoned, betrayed, and deceived, the God that he knew was a loving and giving God, it was then he started to doubt his existence. Elie tries to hold on to his faith but the childhood innocence has disappeared from within him and he loses his faith completely in God, whom he thought would rescue him from his suffering. In the beginning of the book, Elie s faith in God is so strong that he never questioned the existence of God. He wanted to get closer to God by studying the Jewish texts more. First, he has a full time job that would allow him to look after the premises only during his free time; if so, the irregularity by which Leonard would run the renovation of the house would highly damage the speed at which the job will be completed, rendering his estimate of a ready to rent property within 4 months highly unrealistic. Also, Leonard fails to keep into consideration the opportunity cost of the time he will invest in the property; by completing some jobs on his own, Leonard plans on saving money, truth is, he will be spending money for, example, tools. 4. Should Leonard make this investment? No. Assuming Leonard takes over the existing mortgage and has access to the $160,000 lent by the bank, plus his $25,000, he would have $185,000 available to invest, which would cover for the cost of purchasing the property and half the cost of renovating it. Now, if instead Leonard started a new loan and obtained $210,000, estimated a market value of the premises of $265,500, by summing up all the costs to purchase the house and open the loan, he would still be $6,500 short. Both paintings possess the characteristics of modern paintings; the quick, light brush strokes that portrays a sense of ephemerality and movement. However, these two works differ heavily when placed in the social contexts of the time period, which revolved heavily around the idea of sexuality. From 1860 1900, the social fabric of Paris transformed enormously, and as a consequence, the social perception of women and men changed drastically. Looking at the two paintings, gender plays a paramount role in the understanding of the subject as well as the painting as a whole. This idea is further emphasized by the idea of the Flaneur, the Gaze, and the social spheres that were formed at the time. During this period, the idea of separate spheres came into being as a consequence of increased social interactions. There were public spheres, such as the cafes, restaurants, and theaters, which were occupied predominately by men. Women on the other hand occupied the private sphere, which consisted of their homes and other much more secluded areas. For women to go to these cafes and expose themselves to the public degraded them in the eyes of society. Some would go as far to say that for a woman to maintain her respectability and femininity, it was best not to expose herself to the public at all. The book examines the forms and performance of governments in thirty six countries. Patterns of Democracy is seventeen chapters long. Below, there will be a critical analysis of a claim or a particular theory in the first seven chapters on the merits of the claim or theory. To start with, chapter one is an introduction to what is to come. It claims that two models of governing the majoritarian model and the consensus model exist. In a majoritarian model, a governing body will seek to satisfy a will of a bare majority or even a will of a plurality of a governed body. Alternatively, in a consensus model, a governing body will seek to form a consensus to fulfill the wishes of as many people as possible. Even in a democracy, it is possible for a government to listen to the wishes of a minority while ignoring the will of the majority and attempt to convince the majority that the minority has a point here. Secondly, the title of the next chapter of the book is the Westminster model of democracy. As the author noted, this is another name of the majoritarian model. It is unclear why the author felt a need to dedicate a chapter to this. That said, he effectively gives three countries that fit this group. Furthermore, the author listed ten characteristics of the model and how England, New Zealand, and Barbados comply and deviate from the model as well as any qualification that needs to occur in the group. ... Tigers in the real world today are the biggest killing/hunting machines, and they never let anything get in their way. Tigers want all the power. Blake explains What immortal hand or eye, could frame thy fearful symmetry? . He uses the word fearful in that sentence to describe the tigers face. He also used the word could in the quote above, but also restates the statement using dare instead of could. Blake is trying to get at how could someone make something so destructive and demanding. Blake uses fire to describe the tiger several times. For example, In what distant deeps or skies burnt the fire of thine eyes. Blake s uses fire to describe the tiger because they share similar qualities, such as being deadly and harmful to many living things. • 22. The Birth Evolution Of Trinidad Carnival Beginning in the late 1700s, the festival known as Carnival was introduced to various parts of the world as a public celebration or parade that involved the use of masks, musical elements, costumes and more. Dating back to the 18th century, the Trinidad Carnival was introduced around the time of the arrival of the French Catholic planters from the French West Indies. The festival originated in the early 1780s when both white and colored people staged masquerade balls at Christmas time for entertainment. From there, it developed into playful taunting between the two groups and eventually the tradition evolved to mark the approaching Catholic Lenten season. Unable to participate, the West African slaves of the planters held their own masked festivals, focused around the burning and reaping of the sugar cane. For all groups, mockery and veneer played a great role in the custom ( Birth Evolution of Trinidad Carnival ). Following the slave emancipation in 1838, Canboulay was viewed as a symbol of independence and defiance. Over time this converged with stickfighting, chanting, and drumming, and the rituals of Canboulay became something of a masquerade. After great conflict with the British colonial government, who were insistent on banning drumming, masquerade, and the steel pan the festival was eventually adopted as a symbol of Trinidadian culture during the independence movement ( The Birth Evolution of Trinidad Carnival ). The United States became stronger due to economic improvements, the War of 1812 and the westward movements. Part of the reason that the United States became stronger is because of economic improvements. These economic improvements include: the National Bank, the American System, and The First Industrial Revolution. When Alexander Hamilton called 8jmfor a Bank of the United States, he imagined a central bank that would strengthen the national economy. This would allow for the growth in business without relying on exports to increase money. Hamilton argued that the bank would strengthen the government by lending money. The First Bank of the United States brought more strength to the United States money and expanded the economy more than what was expected. Many congressmen claimed that the bank was unconstitutional and supported the North over the South. In 1811, they rejected to restate the charter of the First Bank of the United States. In 1828, Andrew Jackson was elected president and was seeking change because he was frustrated with the central bank. The proton pump is the terminal stage in gastric acid secretion and is directly accountable for secreting H+ ions into the gastric lumen, leading the pump to be an excellent target for preventing acid secretion. Targeting the terminal step in acid production, as well as the irreversible nature of the inhibition, results in a class of drugs that are considerably more efficient than H2 ... These crucial 3 seconds became life changing for the enduring Benny Paret as he confronted death; unfortunately, Paret could not bear the deep wound inflicted to him by Griffith and has passed away. In the stands, the audience was frightened by what they saw, but one in particular, Norman Mailer, was also appalled and incredulous in what he had witnessed. Similes were ubiquitous in this passage because Mailer wants the reader who didn t witness the event to know how it felt by using everyday examples that the reader can relate to. In the passage, the reader learns that Griffith was in like a cat ready to rip the life out of a huge boxed rat. By this simile, the reader can relate to the issue which increases his empathy to the situation. The reader knows that a cat chasing a rat shows that the rat is in a predicament of life and death which is analogous to the life and death situation between Griffith and Paret. Also, the quote ...like a baseball demolishing a pumpkin... let the reader learn how the extent of Griffith s punches seemed by comparing two situations: a baseball demolishing a pumpkin and Griffith punching Paret s face. Inferring from the instance of the baseball and pumpkin, the reader would feel appalled even apprehensive. Moreover, the reader would pity Paret while resent Griffith due to his aggressive attitude. • 32. Summer Reflection Paper My 2016 summer was a great journey. I was engulfed with driving and traveling around with my family. During the summer my family and i bought a new lake house. So, almost every week we would drive up there. I loved it cause i got wake up to the smell of the lake. I d get to see the white fog covering the icy feeling of the lake in the morning. I really enjoyed it because when i m up there, i feel it relieves so much stress. I don t have to worry about the news or school. To me it s almost like a new world. Also, I love going out on the lake, doing tubing and more. Overall the lake is a fun place to go to get away from the rest of the world and relax. Also to spend time with family. Another big part of me being up there so much was that I eventually got to know the owners of the local marina on the lake. Eventually i got to know them so well, that i decided to apply for a job there. With a little help from my mom, i was able to fill out a form and turn it in. Before i even knew it I got the job! It was fun and a big experience for me. It was big for me because this was actually was my first official job experience, on the books. My mom actually said to me, James make sure you act like a professional when at work. You never know what life skills you might learn there. I got to work the cash register and in the kitchen, cooking foods etc. One of my favorite memories was that i got to meet new people and get introduced to their lifestyles. The other people who worked there were around the ages 16 21. It was fun because we were all teenagers and around the same age. We would talk about hanging out after work and It was a new but fun experience for me. Another thing that was cool about my job at the marina is that I could either swim or walk there in less than 5 minutes. One cool thing about working there is that every Friday and Saturday night there would be concerts at the marina and a ton of people would come. My boss would get me to serve food and beverages to the people who ordered It for the concert. Overall this part of of my summer crafted me into a hard working and dedicated kid. Although there are many upgrades that can improve speed, you also need to improve down force and weight reduction to reach maximum potential. If the three of these are not done, then when reaching high speeds the vehicle may flip because it does not have the proper down force it needs to hold it to the ground. When the car has too much weight it could keep it from reaching the highest possible speed it can handle. So how can we first improve speed? To most people, speed is the only thing a car or truck needs to win a race. One way to help enhance the speed is to add a multitude of parts, some of which are as follows: Super charger, nitrous, turbo, and performance chips. These are just a few of the many options one may run into. Super chargers increase the power of an engine (Harris, William). Critical Race Theory And Conflict Theory Paper Critical Race Theory and Conflict Theory Society contains groups with diverse interests, where competing interests encourage conflict (Hutchison, 2013). The racial ideology in the United States is the belief in a hierarchy of races with whites at the top and other races grouped underneath (Robbins, Chatterjee, Canda, 2011). One way minorities are depicted as different from whites is through imagery that creates detachment and seclusion between groups (Ortiz Jani, 2010). Critical Race Theory Critical race theory (CRT) assumes this society was created to empower White people; CRT is focused on transforming the relationships between race and racial power assembled by law and culture (Delgado Stefancic, 2012). This theory suggests that racism is embedded in American society (Helms, 2006), looking at how racial pride in being White can be exhibited in tolerable ways or as White superiority (Delgado Stefancic, 2012). Once Sophia s husband, Douglass master, found out she was teaching him how to read and write, he immediately ordered her to stop teaching. Douglass stated, The very decided manner with which he spoke, and strove to impress his wife with the evil consequences of giving me instruction, served to convince me that he was deeply sensible of the truths he was uttering . What he most dreaded, that I most desired. What he most loved, that I most hated. That which to him was a great evil, to be carefully shunned, was to me a great good, to be diligently sought; and the argument which he so warmly urged, against my learning to read, only served to inspire me with a desire and determination to learn (Douglass). That quote by Frederick Douglass is very powerful, and goes to show how strong his motivation was to better his life. It is the intersection of two lives, an event that can fundamentally alter the paths of all those involved. This importance within the basic functioning of human life makes the recognition of hospitality as a central theme of the Hebrew Scriptures an unsurprising reality. With this in mind then, through this essay we will examine the understanding of hospitality laid out in the canonical scriptures of the Hebrew Bible. These entwined moments of welcome add to the already high significance societies place upon hospitality by alluding to a divine presence among those who meet, reinforcing the importance of this practice for those who attempt to follow the Hebrew Faith. Perhaps on of the most important occurrences of the practice of hospitality in the Hebrew Scriptures, and identified by some sources as paradigmatic , the encounter of Abraham with three strangers in Genesis 18 reflects the divinely entwined hospitality mentioned earlier. In this account, the patriarch Abraham is seen as offering the idealized fulfillment of true hospitality through the overwhelming nature of his actions and offerings. From the beginning of the story, we see Abraham go out of his way to greet and welcome the guest, from the initial running to meet them before bowing in their presence, through to the offer of bread and the reality of a far greater feast, Abraham spares nothing in his encounter with the strangers. These actions take on further meaning when referenced in light of the readers awareness that one of these strangers is The Lord (Gen 18:1). The transmission of data in Li Fi is in form of 1 s and 0 s.When LED is on it transmits 1 and when it is off it transmits 0. The data transmitted by the LED is received by the Li Fi dongle connected to the system operating on the Li Fi. This Dongle consists of photo detector, amplification and processing section and data receiving section. The photo detector detects the light and then converts it into the appropriate electrical signal. This signal is then given forward for amplification and processing.
