This document summarizes Freeman Dickie's Master Thesis Defense which took place on March 28th, 2012 in Rotterdam. The defense committee consisted of Corné A. Hulst, René Naudts, and Maurice Jansen. The thesis focused on identifying bottlenecks and inefficiencies associated with the Nacala Development Corridor in Mozambique. Through interviews, observation, and data collection and analysis at the ports and along the transport network, the research aimed to produce solutions to improve corridor performance. Key findings included delays at the port and along rail and trucking routes. The thesis concluded that improving hinterland accessibility and separating the port authority role from terminal operations could help address issues.
