This document summarizes a thesis project focused on redeveloping a fishing village in Chellanam, Kerala called Model Fishing Village. Chellanam is a coastal area with around 90% of its population belonging to fishermen communities. The area struggles during monsoons with high tides and weak sea walls. The project aims to provide safe housing, sanitation facilities, and social infrastructure for the fishermen communities while adhering to coastal zone regulations. Case studies of similar community redevelopment projects will be examined to inform the design approach. The expected architectural output includes residential blocks, roads, toilet blocks, fish markets, and community centers.
