Alienation And Isolation In Frankenstein
An Analysis of the Theme of Alienation and Isolation in Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
This literary analysis will analyze a close reading of the theme of alienation and isolation of the
Monster in Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. The passage chosen from Shelley s novel will define the
self education of the monster through the symbolism of Lucifer in John Milton s epic poem
Paradise Lost: But Paradise Lost excited different and far deeper emotions...but I am solitary and
detested (Shelley para.7). The relationship between the Monster (as Lucifer) and God (as Victor
Frankenstein) defines the neglect and abandonment that define his alienation and struggle in
isolation. Milton s heroic description of Lucifer defines the Monster s identity as a re animated ...

The chosen passage defines the importance of Paradise Lost by John Milton as a form of literary
symbolism to define the Monster s self education as a basis for his revenge against Victor. The
relationship between God and Adam defines how the Monster comes tor realize that he has been
created by a supernatural being, much like he was created by Victor. However, he also comes to
know that God has abandoned him. The Monster knows that he has not been given the love and
resources given to Adam, which forces him to realize that he is more like the fallen angel Lucifer.
In response to this realization, the Monster decides to kill Victor s wife, just as Lucifer destroyed
eve by tempting her to eat the forbidden apple from the Tree of Knowledge. These are important
aspects of literary symbolism that the Monster learns that create a motivation for vengeance against
his creator. This passage defines the theme of alienation and isolation that the Monster endures
through the literary symbolism of Paradise Lost by john Milton in Mary Shelley s

Amnesty To Illegal Immigrants Essay
U.S. government should not grant amnesty to illegal immigrants. When the government grant
amnesty to unauthorized immigrants, people who cross the U.S. border illegally would get legal
status. As the population of unauthorized immigrants increased and consequences of granting
amnesty were shown, questions about whether or not unauthorized immigrants should stay in the
United Statesbecame controversial. Although some people argue that illegal immigrants pay taxes
and work hard, they are actually harming our society politically and economically. For example,
they abuse America public services such as education and health care system, create heavy burdens
for US taxpayers by receiving more benefits than paying taxes, contribute to crime rates, and take
jobs from legal citizens.
In 1986, president Ronald Reagan passed The Immigration Reform and Control Act, ... Show more

The number of undocumented immigrants has exploded from 5 million in 1986 to more than 11
million today (Heubusch, John. What Reagan would do about Immigration. , sks.sirs.com) .
In other words, granting amnesty to illegal immigrants actually stimulate more people to enter our
state illegally. As a result, amnesty should not be granted to undocumented immigrants since it will
not help to reduce population nor do any good for the country.
Amnesty should not be granted to unauthorized immigrants due to its negative impacts to our
society. First, when people look back at the history of undocumented immigrants, they will discover
that passing amnesty will cause more people to come to the country illegally. Second, immigrants
are tax consumers, they created heavy burden for U.S. taxpayers. Third, immigrants take jobs from
and lower the wages of U.S. workers. Lastly, they were contributing to the country s crime rate. All
these reasons can prove that granting amnesty is detrimental to the country and there is no point for
the government to enact

Desoto s Home-Personal Narrative
Making his way back to the DeSoto s house, Johnny was stopped at a stop sign when he felt
someone slam into his back bumper. What the... he mumbled, gingerly picking up his head from
where it rested between the steering wheel and window. Looking around carefully after stretching
out the kinks in his neck, he couldn t see the car that had hit him, but he did hear the faint roar of
what must have been a large muscle truck. Taking a deep breath, he just shook his head carefully.
Performing a self check on himself and finding nothing wrong with the exception of a small bump
above his left ear, Johnny assumed he was too stunned to notice the car leaving. Considering how

A National Transportation Safety Board Investigation Into...
A National Transportation Safety Board investigation into the crash, released 11 months later,
lays most of the blame for the collision on a local Norfolk Southern crew who were working the
line west of Aiken a day earlier. The crew of Train P22 told investigators they were running
behind when they reached the Avondale Mills textile plant around 6:10 p.m. the evening of
January 5. That did not give them enough time to drop off the cargo of sodium hydroxide (used
as a bleaching agent at the Avondale Mills plant) and make the planned trip down to Warrenville
without going over their work hour limit. So after finishing work at the Graniteville plant, the
crew took a taxi to a hotel for the night with the intention of returning the following morning. No
one noticed that the switch on the main line was still pointed towards the Avondale Mills spur. In
fact, the brakeman was insistent that he had moved the switch back so any later trains going
through town would still be able to go straight. 2 This is a case of pushing the limits to the edge
and missing an important detail. The work limits are put into effect to prevent just this kind of
over site of missing important details. Unfortunately this one resulted in a major accident with loss
of life. When the limits are pushed mistakes are made and the result sounds like; In my mind,
when I left [the industry track], everything was properly lined back to the main line. I had no
doubts in my mind when I left there, the

How Does Wart Use Power In The Moat
When Wart is turned into a perch to explore the moat, the concept of might is right is first
examined. While transformed into a fish,Wart meets Mr. P. Mr. P is the king fish in the moat
and has a very corrupt view on power over others. He tells Wart that Power is of the individual
mind, but the mind s power is not enough. Power of the body decides everything in the end, and
only Might is Right (White 45). Wart is hypnotized by the impact of Mr. P s words and learns
that power is an intimidating thing. Mr. P is the epitome of unjust power being forced over the
fish of the moat. He is portrayed as an unflattering king and Wart begins to be introduced to the
idea that power is not always a good attribute. The idea of power is shown again... Show more

He is scared by the pressures of power and is intimidated based off his past experiences. Earlier in
the novel, while talking to the badger he says, I should have liked to go to war (White 187).
Through his experiences with Merlin, he now believes that ruling in a noble way is more
important than intimidating the people one rules over. He adapts the mind set and ideals of his
teacher, Merlin. Merlin consistently believes that jousting and tilting are foolish and childish. He
passes his ideals on to Wart through showing him how foolish it is to joust when he takes Wart to
see King Pellinore and Sir Grummore fight for no reason. He shows Wart that bravery isn t what
he was traditionally taught and bravery is really shown when one has knowledge and a just mind
set. White develops this motif through the theme that power corrupts and one must rule with
equality and bravery in order to be a strong leader. This theme is explored and embodied through
Merlin and his teachings. Through Merlin, Wart learns what it means to be a capable and
knowledgable leader. With his strong militaristic background and intellectual experiences, Arthur is

Religion And Spirituality On The United States Of America...
Religion and spirituality have been complex issues in the United States of America. This is
especially true when it comes to Native Americans. Since the 16th century, contact between
Native Americans and Europeans has been filled with both good and bad. In this paper, the issue
of religion and spirituality and how they figure into the story of Indian European contact between
the 16th and 21st centuries will be discussed. The people of the Eastern Woodlands held beliefs
about the human, natural, and supernatural worlds. The people believed that there was no line
between the human and natural worlds. In some languages, animals were referred to as people.
Humans were referred to as extra people, or people people. They also believed there was no line
between the natural and supernatural worlds. They also had in their beliefs the idea of manitou.
Manitou roughly translates to spirit in English. They believed there was manitou in everything in
the human, natural, and supernatural worlds. They believed there was power in the natural world
itself. In a reading done in class, Farmers of the Woodlands, written by Peter Nabokov and Dean
Snow, there is discussion of the religious and spiritual beliefs of the people who lived in the
Eastern Woodlands. For the Penobscot bands, they had the spiritual belief of totems. These totems
were animals. They believed the totems were the ancestors to the people of the band. These totems
linked them to the lands they lived, hunted, and fished

How Did The Internet Change Our Mental Wellbeing
The internet is possibly the greatest invention ever made. It has changed the way we

inventions that have made life more comfortable and simple. It is easy to see how quickly the
internet has changed our physical wellbeing, but it is difficult to recognize how it has slowly been

it is impossible to escape the internet at home, school, or work, because it is in our very pocket.

some areas almost next door on another turn seemed destroyed. Many areas along these mountains

Virtual Reality ( Vr ) Environments
Even the term virtual reality brings to mind a superficial view of the world. People can now enter
simulations where they see themselves as a different person in a different time and a different
place. When compared to the media available to people before the 21st century, this medium for
taking in information seems daunting. These simulations enable users to overwhelm themselves
with information and stimuli. As a result, people lose touch with the importance of critical thinking
and time away from virtual realities. As virtual realitytechnology develops, people will accustom
themselves to evaluating their environment through a technological medium, so they will begin to
accept information superficially rather than critically.
Virtual reality (VR) environments are three dimensional environments that create simulations for
users to interact with. For example, a VR user might wear a headset that simulates a roller coaster
ride and he or she will experience sensations similar to that of a physical roller coaster. These
simulations are becoming increasingly realistic as VR technology continues to progress, so users
will continue to experience more life like simulations as time goes on. Using VR immerses people
into worlds that are entirely different from their own, and while these simulations are beneficial in
that they provide experiences users might otherwise never have the opportunity to experience, it
also distracts them from their physical environment. They are

(Motavalli, 2010). Selling the older vehicles to the dealer or to another company/person would
allow us to offset some of the initial costs of the new vehicles. If some of the older vehicles are
still in working order and there are no major repairs needed, retrofitting the engines to meet the
new standards could also be an alternative. The cost of this is considerably lower than the
purchase of a new vehicle and it is still as effective. In researching the data, I discovered that the
use of biodiesel is an alternative fuel source as well. This fuel, a 20/80 mixture, does not require
any type of retrofitting of the engine. This product has the added ability of cleaning out the
particles that have built up by the use of using diesel fuel throughout the engine and fuel system.
These particles are expelled via the exhaust or fuel filter. The only cost that will incur would be the
cost to replace the fuel filter during the initial uses of the product until the entire system is clean.

properly communicate across the desk so to speak. With this lack of communication between the
inbound and outbound coordinators, the loads are not being recorded properly. This

How Military Recruitment And Skilled People Join The Armed...
In 2014, according to the Global Terrorism Database managed by the University of Maryland,
there were 16,818 terroristic incidents reported worldwide. This attributes for roughly 12% of the
terrorism accounted for in this database between 1970 and 2014. Consequently, with all this
global unrest, there is a need for military recruitment and skilled people to join the armed forces.
Recruitment involves much consideration including choosing a branch, entrance requirements,
testing, and evaluation. There are many different jobs available in armed forces, so it is
important for candidates to really research what they want to do before taking action. Further,
depending on the job, there are different levels of training to be completed. Careers in the
military, specifically within the Special Forces, are very important for security of the nation.
Army Rangers are some of the most skilled and rigorously trained people in the armed forces. On
top of meeting the traditional requirements for enlisting in the Army, Army Rangers have to meet
other criteria before being recruited into and successfully completing the program. The first step
to becoming an Army Ranger begins with applying to the Army. The basic entrance requirements
for qualification into the Army include the following: must be a U.S. citizen or have a green card,
must be between 17 and 35 years old, must not be convicted of a felony or domestic abuse, must

Simulated Violence In Video Games
Simulated Violence Role playing games with simulated violence are diverting. They increase
focus levels and can help make friendships. If someone was on a team, working with them
together towards a common goal they might become quick friends. Or if someone had to save the
team they would be able to focus better since it would feel like more was at stake. Role playing
games with simulated violenceare not dangerous as long as people don t take it too far. One way
that violent games are diverting and should be allowed is that they mature teens more. These
games can expose teens at an early age to stuff they might be seeing in the future and prepare
them. A high school in New york has developed a violent gamethat has an important moral, outside
of school the world isn t safe, And, keen as the graduating seniors may be to leave, the game tells
them that the world outside is not a safe place. Some students graduating may not realize that
everything isn t always going to be in your favor the way it is in school. Teens also don t lose
their common sense while playing these games. In the game killer at a New York high school a

Thurber had a troublesome marriage with Althea; Walter is constantly being controlled by Mrs.
Mitty. Because of Mrs. Mitty s nagging and imposing influence seen in paragraphs 3 and 4,
Walter is triggered into a daydream. As a world famous surgeon, he not only is in control of his
life, but the life of his patient. Mitty cleverly adapts to emergencies like using a fountain pen to
fix the needed surgical machinery (The). Every time he escapes, it is because of a trigger, often
through an authority figure imposing on him. In fact, it is the clear distinction between fantasy and
reality that makes escaping a theme. The heavy juxtaposition between diction of the dream world
and real life is evident. For example, in the second daydream as a surgeon, Dr. Mitty snapped at
fellow doctors and nurses to give him a fountain pen and uses fake yet complicated sounding
medical terms such as Obstreosis of the ductal tract (The). However, in the subsequent paragraph as
Walter clumsily almost hits another car in the parking lot in reality, he only muttered in response to
the valet, unable to give a definitive reply. The dramatic juxtaposition between Mitty s spectacular
fantasies and mundane reality drives the story. Thurber highlights Mitty s desperateness for action
through the drastic differences in scenes. Also, Thurber distinguishes daydreams by incorporating
much more imperative voice and literary devices compared to straight dialogue in the reality.
Thurber literally makes the fantasies more alive and interesting than boring reality. Onomatopoeia
is seen in 3 of the 5 daydreams, ta pocketa pocketa... in paragraph 1 for the hydroplane and the same
sound for the surgical machine (The). Rat tat tatting in paragraph 14 reflects the machine gun
sounds Captain Mitty heard during war. By using onomatopoeia,

looked very ominous, sinister, and abandoned. My friends wanted to check the house out, but I
didn t want to go in. I thought the house looked eerie and ghastly, but they said, you ll be fine
your just a chicken. I wanted to shriek it looked so scary, but instead, I said, I am not a chicken,
I ll show you. I went into the house by myself... there were COBWEBS, SPIDERS, and BUGS
OH MY! I suddenly heard my friends outside talking and I came out to see what the commotion
was all about? They were shaking and said, we don t want to go into the house anymore, so I
said, ok then just stay outside in the dark and wait for me to finish looking around the house and
then we can leave. I said, it may take a little bit for me to finish looking in the house, but they
said, that s ok. I finished our conversation and then I went back into the house. When I went back
into the house, I heard something say DO NOT GO ANY FURTHER in a belligerent way. I was
paralyzed when I heard something say that, I thought that was kind of an irrational and debacle
way of saying it, but I don t think they meant to say it in a malicious way. I then heard something
say YOU SHALL NOT GO ANY FURTHER! the second time, they then started to say it incessantly,
it kind of got annoying. Then something said, ARE

By Emily Dickenson, Sunsets, And Sunsets
In the poems, She Sweeps with Many Colored Brooms , by Emily Dickenson, and Sunsets , by Carl
Sandburg; the authors compare sunset to women. The beauty of the sunset is the central theme in
both poems; however, they each contain different ideas about sunset. For example, Dickenson,
focuses more on the beauty of sunsetcomparing it to a housewife. In turn, Sandburg, compares
sunset to a female dancer, and brings out the different kinds of ways the sun sets. In the poem, by
Emily Dickenson she compares sunset to a housewife. The poem cites She sweeps with many
colored brooms [line 1 2], the quote is portraying the true beauty of a housewife s chores. It also

During the harsh winter days, there are many storms that prompt the seas to overflow. This is
described in the next paragraph and the author uses dancing to symbolize the storms, and he
also is referring to more lively dancing. In the end, the sun sets both on the easy days, as well as
on the most difficult days unconditionally. Dickenson s and Sandburg s poem both compare
sunset to women. Dickenson s poem describes the beauty of the sun, and frames her idea by
describing a housewife sewing together colorful garments. The sun rises and sets every day, so
too does a diligent housewife take charge of her home all day. Sandburg s poem also connects
the beauty of the sun to the beauty of a female dancer. The poem links Ribbon at the ears, sashes
at the hips [line 8]; to the beauty of a female dancer, as well as to the splendor of sunset.
Additionally, the poem also states And here sleep. Tosses a little with dreams; [lines 9 10] to
show the challenging and accomplishing days of a dancer, just like the sunset. The poems both
compare sunset to beautiful women, who enhance their surroundings. There are several
differences in both poems. Dickenson uses colors in her poem, like purple, emerald, and amber.
She uses these colors to describe sunset and women. She also depicts a housewife and only gently
refers to sunset. However, Sandburg, uses words like dances, scarves ribbon and sashes which
refers to female dancers,

Rugby Uniforms Research Paper
In sports history, clothing can easily help teammates, supportive fans, and coaches identify who
the team players are and what country, school, or club they are a part of, but rugby and football
clothing are slightly different. Throughout time, rugby uniforms have been modified, but they are
still the same in some areas. In the past, jerseys were somewhat similar to polo shirts. On the
back, they had a specific assigned number and their team colors were striped horizontally. Also on
a few shirts they have a rose on them or a nice plant that represents their club team. They still have
these old fashioned uniforms in some club leagues. New and improved uniforms have their solid

Cultural Diversity And Team Performance Essay
The journal paper Cultural diversity and team performance: The role of team member goal
orientation by (Pieterse, Van Knippenberg Van Dierendonck,2013) is to investigate the members
goal orientation in the relationship between performance and cultural diversity. The contribution of
Pieterse, Van Knippenberg Van Dierendonck (2013) is that they have developed and test the theory
under the CEM model on how achievement setting stimulates the teammember goal orientations that
affect performance relationship. Pieterse, Van Knippenberg Van Dierendonck (2013) also stated
that pervious researchers have recognized the performance benefit of diversity could have stronger
creative, problem solving and decision making on more complex task but they missed one
perspective, which is not only the relatively objective task feature may have a role, but also the
motivational orientations that are cause by a given achievement.
Aim of research:
This research is rooted firmly on the categorisation elaboration model. The study can see as the test
of the propositions advanced in the model and can dee as a further development. Therefore, it is the
further step of developing an integrative theory of the team diversity affected by the performance.
Research paradigm and findings:
The paradigm of this research is that there is just single reality or truth because this research is
trying to find out if there is something related or not by building hypothesis, and there is a big

Evolution Of Evangelical Politics Summary
The author of this article traces the evolution of evangelical politics by first recognizing the goal of
the entire program. The goal of evangelical politics was to create a Republican majority in Congress
and to have a conservative Republican president who would push for the measures that evangelicals
themselves desired. Essentially, the broad goal of the Christian Right is to establish an evangelical
presence for evangelical Christians within the government in order to push for that kind of reform.
Four groups exist: fundamentalists, Pentecostals, charismatics, and neo evangelicals, even though
they generally do not get along. Fundamentalists are people who believe that the Bibleis correct

However, after the embarrassment during the Scopes trial caused the movement to instead focus on
anticommunism. The Christian Crusade, the Christian Anti Communism Crusade and the Church
League epitomized this fight against communism. Opposing Medicare and believing that the Soviet
Union could not be allowed to overtake Israel, these groups maintained a strong anticommunist
voice, until the failure of McCarthyism. However, the voice of conservative Christianity remained
strong and this resulted in the formation of the Moral Majority, which gained a lot of attention as
Jerry Falwell created his Baptist Bible Fellowship which had significant influence on the surface.
The Moral Majority eventually faded, like all evangelical organizations before it, and Paul
Robertson became the new face of evangelicalism as he sought the presidential nomination from the
Republican Party, however he had strange and complex arguments and rationale which made him
an unlikely candidate but a major influence in bringing pentecostals out into politics. Paul
Robertson lost support but was successful in founding the Christian Coalition, a group which

In an article from Diversity Global Magazine, Mr. Carter was named a 2013 Diversity Executive
of Distinction. The article stated that Mr. Carter s focus on developing cutting edge Diversity
and Inclusion programs and strategies is successful because it is aligned with the company s
strategic business objective. As I researched deeper into the company s responsibility to its
customers, employees, communities and shareholders I found that Johnson Johnson s respect
towards these groups of people who keep the company alive is supported by Anthony s
implementation and design of an inclusive global organizational system, as well as Diversity
and Inclusion incentives. He has further developed opportunities for Johnson and Johnson to
maximize their diversity. He oversees an office that implements programs such as Crossing the
Finish Line, which is a career acceleration program for people of color. Programs such as these
are crucial in developing world class diverse leaders. An interesting quote by Anthony P. Carter
sums up his role nicely, Diversity and inclusion describe how we can work together to bring
innovative ideas, products and services together to advance the health, well being and the quality

Starting At An Early Age It Became Apparent To Me That
Starting at an early age it became apparent to me that others around me seemed to be very self
centered. I grew up in a relatively poor family in Oregon that did what they could to care for my
two brothers and myself, but there were serious issues present in my family that would tear it
apart. My father was an alcoholic and would often be abusive to my mother when he drank; this
started early on in their relationship before I was born. Among alcohol problems, my father also
had dealings with various illicit substances. This eventually accumulated in my mother having an
emotional breakdown and deciding to leave for New York with a man that she had developed a

not enjoy living near so many animals. I remember quite well that we did not have a vehicle at
this time and we would go out every couple of weeks and walk several miles to the grocery store
so that we could backpack what we had bought back. This doesn t sound pleasant but it was
actually one of the better experiences during this time period. My father taught us that you do not
need a vehicle to survive and that there many people out there in the same situation. Once our stay
had worn out at the ranch we moved to an adjacent city to try and find another place to stay. This
did not work out in the beginning and we ended up staying a one room motel for the next month or

father did. This brought to my attention that there are many wonderful people in the world that will
do nearly anything to help others. Eventually my father did find employment and we managed to

A Study On Diabetes Mellitus
Part A 1. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (previously described as non insulin dependent diabetes) is a
condition due to hyperglycemia that accompanies a relative rather than an absolute insulin
deficiency. It appears as a consequence of the alteration (genetically inherited or acquired) of insulin
secretion, sometimes associated with peripheral insulin resistance.
Impaired ability to absorb certain macronutrients such as carbohydrates, lipids and proteins can
lead to a large spectrum of chronic complications that involve more or less all tissues of the human
body. Globally, an estimated 422 million adults are living with diabetes mellitus, according to the
latest 2016 data from the World Health Organization. Diabetes Mellitus affects an estimated 29.1
million people in the United States and is the 7th leading cause of death.
T2DM includes a heterogeneous group of diseases that associate in different degrees two major
metabolic defects: beta cell insulin secretion defect and insulin resistance of the peripheral
tissues. Obesity and insulin resistance are characteristic for the majority (80 90%) of T2DM
cases (Obese T2DM). The sine qua non condition for the progression from the preclinical phases
(prediabetes) to the overt hyperglycemia stages is represented by the presence of the insulin
secretion beta cell defect. A lack of compensation for insulin resistance will lead to evolution
towards T2DM. The first sign of

A Summary of The Shawl by Cynthia Ozick The Shawl by Cynthia Ozick is an emotional tale of
how a young mother had her daughter ripped away from her in the worst possible way. The
novella begins with the short story The Shawl . The shawl is quite short, but it leaves an
emotional impact on the reader that isn t forgotten throughout the entire book. The setting of The
Shawl is in a concentration camp during the Holocaust. A young mother named Rosa is trying to
stay alive with her very young baby Magda, and her niece Stella. All three of the girls are in
critical health due to the terrible conditions of the camp. Rosa and Stella are no longer able to

While at the camp stella saw the bond that Rosa and Magda had. She was envious of the love
that they shared. Stella herself wanted to be cared and nurtured for like Magda was. Something
else that drove Stella to act the way she did was the fact that Magda was different from them.
Magda was not like the other jews in the concentration camp. Although she only a baby, Magda
had the features of an aryan . This was probably another reason Stella did such an evil deed.
Stella without remorse stole Magda s only thread of hope for survival. The shawl that stella stole
was the only driving force keeping Magda alive. She purposefully ripped it from her to lead to her
demise. This really showed who stella was and who she was always going to be. Even after
Stella escaped the camp and made a life for herself she was still the same cold, selfish, and
spiteful girl she had been in the camp. Ozick writing Stella as such an awful antagonist definitely
got the theme across that betraying the ones you love and being self doesn t make for a happy

1 Corinthians 15
The initial theme of 1 Corinthians 15 appears as a vivid narrative containing an important argument
about the resurrection. The resurrection causes warfare among the believers in Corinth. The
resurrection of Jesus from the dead is the one most important and the best established facts in all
history. The entire chapter of 1 Corinthian 15 is directed to the question of the validity of bodily
resurrection, as indicated in 1 Corinthian 15:12, some among you say there is no resurrection of the
dead. In fact, the words for resurrection in their noun (anastaij) or verb (egeirw) forms are found

Therefore, first fruits are the initial quantity brought into the view as part of human being and we
cannot inseparable them from the whole resurrection account. We must be clear that the use of
metaphor by Paul was not fiction because the narrative of Jesus Christ die in the gospel is not
fiction. Christ is truly die and was raised from the dead. Yes we use metaphors or theories to
explain the significance of the death of Christ. This does not mean that the death of Christ is not
really died for our sins. Or did Jesus Christ really deals with our guilty. I believed that our worry
about using metaphor is not a fiction but use of metaphor happens to refer to event actually
happened. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is guarantee for us to the future bodily resurrection of
believers. We can just imaging the dawn glorious of Easter morning when our thought are turned
to the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ and how we appreciated our Father in heaven for the
great plan of salvation that has been provided for us freely that was our future bodily resurrection

The Connection Theories And Why I Am My Friend s Dad
It was a Friday night with a clear dark sky and birds tweeting all around. I was sitting outside on
the balcony scrolling through my twitter timeline when I landed on a twitter thread. A twitter
thread is a set of tweets that a person tweets consecutively to inform, satirize, persuade or amuse
the reader. These threads tend to be about anything and everything and they ve become my
favorite part of going on the app itself. Some examples I ve seen before range from How I slept
with my best friend s dad to How I achieved a 4.0 . The one I landed upon that night was about
conspiracy theories and seeing as the thread was long, I went back inside, got comfy and began
reading. The thread started with the Mandela effect which seemed pretty intense then it went on to
the famous 9/11 theory. The one that caught my eye was Denver International Airporttheory. This

Social Tension Surrounding The United States Essay
Introduction
In what has become known as the issue of the century by many (Buchanan, 2015), immigration
has been a topic of debate and an area of sociological tension for several decades in the United
States. It can be seen daily in our newspapers, television shows and especially in America politics.
In fact, it could be argued that this form of social tension in the United States goes as far back as
1492 when Christopher Columbus first stepped foot on what is now North America. It was from
this point that social tension surrounding immigration into the modern United States truly began
between early European explorers and the existing Native Americans.
Social tension surrounding immigration began to peak when large scale immigration into the
United States started in the late 1800 s. In the early days of immigration into the United States the
social tension surrounded the diaspora of the Native Americans which lead to the creation of indian
reservations (cite US History.org). This early social tension primarily surrounded the obtainment of
land and the establishment of property. As we move forward into history, modern immigration
tension in America is more focused on immigration from Mexico.
This paper will explore immigration into the United States and help determine why it is a source of
social tension. Some groups suggest that immigration threatens America s resources and should be
better controlled while others suggest that immigration is vital to the success of

Planning Functions of Management
Planning Functions of Management
Planning is concerned with the future impact of today s decisions. It is the fundamental function of
management from which the other four functions stem (Erven, 1999).
Considering planning is the first of the four functions of management, one can appreciate the
importance and impact it has on the other functions. Production cannot begin and staff cannot be
mobilized unless the planning phase has been completed. Factors however, do exist which affect
the planning phase and if not considered can set the organization on a detrimental course. This

While corporate responsibility can be negative if presented in the wrong context, corporate
responsibility can also be a positive influence on the planning phase. If Tyco has been
synonymous for honesty, integrity and responsibility one will find it likely those in charge may
have taken a more productive path. Once respect for corporate responsibility is lost, one will find
it difficult to reestablish it. One additional step to establishing the value of corporate responsibility
at Tyco was to remove Kozlowski, Swartz, Belnick and other members of its board of directors,
and replace them with outside professionals, Edward Breen, David Fitzpatrick, and William Lytton

Hermit in Paris by Italo Calvino
Italo Calvino (2004) describes his perspective from a distance in Hermit in Paris ; from places he
has lived all throughout his life, the places where he has been a tourist, and a visitor. Calvino has
personal relationships with places and has a personal opinion where he believes Europe is
emerging into one single city(Calvino, 2004, p. 2). He is tolerant of other people s opinions and
continues to portray his own feelings rather than following others discretions. Most cities are
known through media and books and that s how people who have not experienced these cities see
the town. You need to escape spaces mentally and physically by connecting or disconnecting
yourself from a place that does not create happiness.
The first visit that I can recall such an impression was in my heritage landmark (Rawhiti) I got to

The Theme Of Disillusionment
Disillusionment
Paul and his friends became disillusioned with Kantorek, their school teacher who told them about
the war, and how they should join immediately because they would be respected by women and be
better men. Assuming that they would come back home unaffected by the war, they join
patriotically. However, they began to question their elders and the wisdom they have given them
because they said it was an honor to fight for their country, but it really was a nightmare. They were
treated like animals. Even though this is set in WWI in 1915, disillusionment is something that all
people may experience even today.
Comradeship
Paul and his friends all went to school together. It is one thing to be friends at school, but the war

Cyrus Is A Leader Essay
Cyrus: Demagogue, Not Leader What makes a great leader? Cyrus seems to be the perfect
leader he pays attention to his citizens, leads his nation to military success, and imbues the
Persian society with morals and equality. Yet, Cyrus also has his weaknesses, failing to make
lasting friendships and secure a promising future for his Empire after he is gone. Therefore, I
will argue that Xenophon uses the life of Cyrus to show how to be a perfect public official and
how being a charismatic public official does not mean you are a good ruler and leader. Cyrus is
a demagogue a charismatic public official that is proficient at making friends and swaying
public opinion his way. He crafts his image to fit that of an admirable but approachable leader,
calling men by name (5.3.47), giving them rewards for following his orders (8.2.10), and calling
soldiers and citizens that please him friend (4.2.17). Cyrus is also able to strike an imposing
figure by wearing Median robes, teaching all of the men who work alongside him in the
government that these robes will make them look favorable to the public (8.3.1 4).... Show more

Xenophon is also showing how one mistake can define a person s legacy in this instance, Cyrus
chose his son to rule rather than a qualified leader. Although Cyrus had taught his sons the ways
he had ruled, it is impossible to teach what should be intuitive, setting his oldest son up for
failure (8.7.9 14). This is what makes him more of a public official than a leader for his people
giving the Empire to his son will make his name last, and the people will continue to shower his
legacy with adulation. A good leader would have sacrificed his family s prominence for the sake
of his Empire and the future success of his people. Since Cyrus was thought of as a perfect ruler
by his citizens, no son would ever be an adequate replacement only a hand picked politician with
similar charisma would have ever had a

( 7 ) Explain Your Allergic ( Inflammation ) Response To...
7. (4 pts) Explain your allergic (inflammation) response to the bee sting. How will this response
affect your BP? After being stung by the bee, one indicator that you are having an allergic
reaction in this case is extreme redness of the skin. The bee sting injected allergens into your
body and your body overreacts trying to fight off the allergens and cause an allergic
reaction. There are minor allergic reactions and more severe ones. In this case if my body is
turning red everywhere, and not just where i was stung, then it is a more severe reaction.
Swelling and Itchiness are some symptoms to follow the redness of the skin but it is also common
for your blood pressure to drop due to an allergic reaction which should not be taken lightly.
8. (8 pts) Explain your autonomic response to this event. State which division is taking control and
describe exactly how that division will effect breathing rate, heart rate, sweating, and pupil size.
(Note: don t just describe the effect, but describe the specific control pathway that leads to each
effect, including any chemical messengers involved.) In stressful situations the body activates its
Autonomic Nervous System in an attempt to maintain homeostasis. The primary function is to
regulate the stress response. The amygdala recognizes the threat and the hypothalamus controls the
release of hormones from the pituitary gland. The pituitary gland can release hormones into the

most common attributes among these segments are: busy lives, creative, and prefer value

Quaternary Ammonium Compounds Research Paper
Quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs), also known as quats, are usually positively charged
molecules with a nitrogen atom that has four other bonds (Sabapathy, 1994). Because of the
positive charge on the nitrogen atom, quaternary ammonium compounds are formulated as a salt
and are usually paired with a negatively charged compound or ion (Sabapathy, 1994). In terms
of practical use, QACs are commonly used as a broad spectrum antimicrobial. In other words, it
affects the two major types of bacteria, Gram positive bacteria and Gram negative (Lu, Wu, Fu,
2007). QACs can be found in a variety of products, ranging from household products such as
Lysol disinfecting wipes to sanitizing agents commonly used in food service. As with any
chemical, toxicity is based on dosage . It is known that QACs can be toxic, if not... Show more

For quaternary ammonium compounds, despite the structural motif of the positively charged
nitrogen atom, it can be classified within different categories based off the specific compound.
However, it appears that affecting cell membrane is the more common mechanism. The
chemicals, diquat and paraquat, which are actually used as an herbicide, are examples of
quaternary ammonium compounds that do not really fall within one specific category of
mechanism. Through a redox reaction, both of these chemicals form superoxide (O2 )
Superoxide is a free radical, which typically is a type of molecule with an unpaired electron and is
consequently extremely reactive. Therefore, superoxide proceeds to remove electrons from other
compounds within the vicinity, which could be as vital as DNA. Thus, the mode of action for
diquat and paraquat is not specific to bacteria or unwanted plant species, but rather it is similar in
plants, bacteria, and

Pride In The Scarlet Ibis Literary Analysis
What is pride, is it a good thing? Pride is a feeling or deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from
one s own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated, or from
qualities or possessions, that are widely admired. According to Paul Bryant, If you believe in
yourself and have dedication and prideand high, but so are the rewards, which means pride is a
good thing. According to C.S. Lewis Pride gets no pleasure out of having something, only out of
having more of it than the next man... It is the comparison that makes you provide the pleasure of
being above the rest. Once the element of competition is gone, pride is gone, which means, pride

For example, Douglas MAcArthur s pride was huge because he won almost every battle and has
been awarded many medals too. He oversaw the occupation of Japan and lead the United Nation
in the Korean War until he was removed from command. McArthur s pride wanted to take over
Japan and took the wrong turn; he lost many soldiers trying to do so. McArthurs pride caused
not only his downfall, but the death of many American soldiers during the war. One example
from my life is that my friend got very nice and new headphones and I wanted to try it out, then
all the sudden it fell and broke when no one was watching. My pride wanted to show off the
expensive headphone. My downfall was breaking it and I had to give my friend my nice

Argumentative Essay On Global Warming
GLOBAL WARMING
Global warming is an increase of Earth s temperature throughout a period of time. Global
warming is a disease that is one of the root causes of Earth s illness. This invisible change has a lot
of drastic effects on mankind, wildlife as well as nature. The reasons to these destructions are
humans themselves. There are some very obvious ways to tackle the situation. Many of the
extraordinary weather changes since the 1950 s are recorded in the instrumental temperature record
which stretches out to the mid 19th Century while having thousands of years according to the
Paleoclimate Proxy Records [IPCC Climate]. Temperature across the whole world is predicted to
change throughout this century and continuing. The Earth s ability to tackle the emission of heat
trapping gases, as well as the amount of gases released will predict the magnitude of global climate
change [NASA].
Scientists are sure that global temperatures will continue to rise for decades to come, largely due
to greenhouse gases produced by human activities. 2.5 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit of temperature
rise is predicted over the next century by a group of 1300 scientists of The Intergovernmental
Panel of Climate Change (IPCC) from the United States[IPCC]. Climate change will have
different effects on different regions depending on the adapting ability with time, of that region,
said IPCC. A 1 to 3 degree Celsius increase in global temperature will have deadly consequences
in some region and propitious one in other regions. Net annual costs will increase over time as
global temperatures increase [NASA]. Now let us move into more detailed information.
Climate change has a lot of effects on the rise of sea levels. Average sea level around the world
rose about 8 inches (20 cm) in the past 100 years; climate scientists expect sea levels to rise more
and more rapidly in the next 100 years as a part of climate change impact. The number of floods
per year has already increased in many coastal cities such as New York and they may need to
build a wall between the sea and the town to protect them from the sea by the mid 21st Century.
More coastal cities (such as Bangkok, Boston), famous

Argumentative Essay On Magic Mushrooms
Psychedelic Mushrooms
Psychedelic mushrooms are rumored to have a long and holy background, which dates back to
9000 B.C in North African indigenous cultures. Rock paintings, statues and manuscripts depict
what some historians believe to be magic mushrooms. This idea is highly controversial, as other
historians claim that none of the evidence found is definitive, and that people are seeing what they
want to see. Westerners began to eat magic mushrooms during the 1950s; throughout the 1960s and
1970s, hallucinogenic drugs became widely popular and psychedelic mushroom use became
inextricably tied to the hippie movement.
Along with the history of these mushrooms, there are other interesting facts about these
hallucinogens. At least 144 species ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That does not include over the counter drugs like Tylenol and Claritin which are used to help
with sickness. Taking illegal drugs will harm you and possibly others around you. Whether or
not a drug is legal or illegal, people will still find a way to do it. People want what they can t
have. Think, if coffee was illegal, would more people want it? (I do not know the answer to
this). However, that does not mean that we should just give in and start making drugs legal,
because that is us practically putting drugs into people s hands. Drug addicts can end up on
Welfare and find themselves troubled to find a job. Drugs cause people to make bad decisions
and can get people killed. Pregnant women taking drugs could cause their baby to have birth
defects. They can damage your brain, heart, and other important organs. People who support
legalizing drugs state that the government should be more focused on other crimes such as
robbery, murder and rape. These offenses are closely tied to the drug market, so if we could get
rid of these unnecessary drugs, we could decrease crime rates. There are better, safer alternatives
to using drugs. Some may argue that people should be able to put whatever they please into their
bodies, but putting drugs into your body will ruin yours and potentially others around you s life. If
heroin was all of a sudden legalized, no, everyone

How Did Machiavelli s Political Views Influence American...
In The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli, Machiavelli writes about 16th century principalities and
how its princes should act. However, while these ideals may seem dated, Machiavelli s description
holds many similarities and differences to American politics today. Machiavelli s views on
republics serve as the first difference between his political views and the American government.
Machiavelli generally puts those in a republic in a negative light by claiming that the subjects of
a republic are not used to standing up for themselves and cannot agree to give themselves a
leader. Therefore, it is not a sturdy government to capture. Instead of finding the idea of no
singular person being a leader a good way to ensure statewide cooperation and content,
Machiavelli claims that, In republics there is more vitality, greater hatred, and more desire for
vengeance, (Machiavelli, Chapter V). Which is a far cry to the American government s oath to
all of its freedoms and liberties. Machiavelli moves on to say that the safest way to capture a
republic state is to destroy it altogether. This shows his views on republics are very much negative
and that he believes they are almost a nuisance to a prince trying to maintain a state. Of course this
is a drastic difference to the American government, where its subjects thrive in a republic. In other
words, while Machiavelli believes no state could be maintained as a republic, the American
government proves that it could still be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

written for a much older and ancient time. Although Machiavelli may have never thought for

The Bombing Of The Uss Cole
The USS Cole Attack We will never forget that 17 of our Sailor s died during a routine refueling
stop conducted by the USS Cole. The bombing of the USS Cole (DDG 67) and the subsequent
implementation of Anti Terrorism Force Protection measures are important to our Navy
heritage because it is a reminder that vigilance can avert future attacks. Whether in the maritime
domain, or in support of operations ashore, Senior Navy Leaders are a key player in ensuring
that Anti Terrorism measures are followed to protect yourself, Sailors under your command, and
all Navy personnel. This paper will cover the history of the bombing of the USS Cole (DDG 67),
the evolution of Anti Terrorism Force Protection and the effects upon current U.S. Navy
operations. History On the morning of October 12, 2000, during a routine refueling stop; the
505 foot USS Cole (DDG 67) was crippled and nearly sunk when two men steered a small fishing
boat towards the center of the ship, where they detonated a small plastic explosive device in a
suicide attack. According to reports, the amount of C 4 used in the construction of the bomb was
equivalent to 700 pounds of TNT (Ibarra, 2013). In the explosion s aftermath, 17 Sailors died
and 37 crewmembers were wounded; and a $789 million ship was severely damaged in an act of
asymmetrical warfare against the United States (Burns, 2000). In the days and weeks following the
attack, the Congressional Research Service (Perl O Rourke, 2001) put together a

The Role Of Art And Architecture In The Late Roman Culture
The role of art and architecture in shaping communities has transformed places and cultures
throughout history. The Late Roman culture is certainly no exception. Here we see the stark
difference of cultural influences through the lens of religion Christianity and Judaism. It has been
said that art is the universal language; able to transcend fundamental differences in culture and
philosophy to help define communities. Art, as a shared attribute of a community, has the ability to
enhance the quality of the community through the strength of the connections it creates among its
members. A focus and commitment to art within communities can bring about a better
understanding of each other even within the disparate groups of the Jews and Christians in Late
Rome.
In these two examples of architecture and their art; the Catacombs at Villa Torlonia, Rome 3rd C,
Menorahs and Ark of the Covenant, and the Catacombs of Commodilla, Rome 4th C, Peter Strikes
Water from Rock, Martyrs Felix Adauctus, Pantocrator, we can see how two pieces of architecture
and their art, reinforce Jewish and Christian communities in the way they worship and how that
influenced their communities while living in Late Rome.
The artwork in the architecture of the catacombs of Villa Torlonia, Rome, 3rd C, The
Menorahs and Ark of the Covenant defines the Jewish community by reinforcing Judaism with the
depiction of many objects sacred to their religion. In the painting we see two Menorahs flanking the

Mexico is a very lively, vibrant and spirited country, which, sometimes, shows in its color palette.
Other than endless beaches, notable archaeological sites, astounding architecture and the best food,
Mexico has some of the most colorful towns and cities in the world. Although some of them are
designated UNESCO s World Heritage Sites, most remain under the radar for foreign visitors. Here
are nine examples!
Number Nine: Guanajuato
Guanajuato, located in the center of the country, pulses with color and energy. Its houses, dispersed
down the hills of the historic colonial city, are painted in all shades of the chromatic spectrum. The
bright red and yellow BasГlica Colegiata de Nuestra SeГ±ora de Guanajuato sets the tone for what
the rest of the town will look like. Guanajuato has been named the most beautiful city in Mexico for

structures, earned Campeche a UNESCO s World Heritage Site recognition in 1999. This city is,
easily, one of the most beautiful and unique places in Mexico, although still virtually unknown
outside of the country.
Number Three: San Cristobal de las Casas
Also known by its native Tzotzil name, Jove, San Cristobal de las Casas is a multicolored city
located on lush mountainous terrain in Chiapas, and surrounded by hills. It still maintains its
colonial layout, narrow cobblestone streets and red tile rooftops. A must see for Pantone lovers.
Number Two: Izamal
Izamal, nicknamed The Yellow City, is one of Mexico s 35 certified magical cities. What makes it
stand out from all the other towns in the country is that almost every building here is painted
mustard yellow and white. The monochromatic city comes to life under the bright Mexican sun.

Messages Found in China Mieville’s Embassytown Essay
Science fiction is often looked down upon as if it were some how a lesser literature than other
forms of fiction, however in one way science fiction is better than other forms of fiction. While
all books will convey messages to the reader science fiction is especially good at doing so. A reason
for this is perhaps that in sciencefiction we are looking not at our world, but at a place our world
might someday go. In science fiction the world we see is our world distorted, and when you see
a slightly different world from the one you know, it helps you to inspect the world you do live in
a bit more. Embassytown has several underlying messages and values in the book. When

Ambassadors are aware of what has happened with EzRa and the Hosts, they refuse to explain
what has happened. They do not want to explain because as the saying goes knowledge is power,
and as they are the only ones able to communicate with the Hosts the have almost all the power. Had
they been more willing to help foster understanding between their people and the Hosts than
perhaps much of the mess that happened in the book could have been avoided.
Another thing that demonstrates this point is that the way Avice fixes the problem is by forcing
the Hosts to understand her better. Before the Hosts did not understand that she was sentient, that
the noises she made were her trying to communicate. I m sorry but I need them to understand that
you re two people because I need them to understand that I m one. That these bloody squawks I

like they did was the thing that saved them. It was only after Avice made them understand that she
was a person that they were able to communicate with the Absurd. They were able to communicate
because now they were thinking in the same way, where as they hadn t been before.

Theme Of Symbolism In Jane Eyre
Charlotte Bronte created Jane Eyre, a revolutionary novel that since first released in 1847 and ever
since then still remains relevant despite being a classic piece of literature. The novel persistently
not only known for its new ideas, such as a relatable female protagonist, and defying the gender
constraints placed on women during that time period, but for its extensive use of symbolism
throughout the novel. Symbolism occurs when seemingly meaningless words and events lead to a
deeper meaning. The splitting of the chestnut tree happens to symbolize and foreshadow an
upcoming break in Jane and Rochester s relationship, and while their relationship faces hardships,
and may never be the the same, somehow their relationship stays intact.... Show more content on

Jane views water to be a distancing from passion and emotion. The character St. John Rivers has
been compared to and placed near water and cold elements many times throughout the novel.
The most prominent being that his name. The first time Jane views him, she says, I have never
seen that handsome face of his look more like chiseled marble as he put aside his snow wet hair
from his forehead. When he is placed by the fire he s described as being gloomy and out of place,
when placed near the fire. Because of Rivers aversion to heat and him being cold, he does not
seem suitable nor compatible for Jane since she is full of warmth and passion and he seems to
be out of place when near the fire. When Jane spoke of how he would be as a husband, she says,
He has no more a husbands heart for me than that frowning giant of a rock, down which the
stream is frothing over yonder gorge. she uses water imagery to express his feelings. Moreover Jane
being a very passionate person sees the absence of passion and emotion to be as bad as death itself.
Charlotte Bronte s use of symbolism helps give the reader an in depth understanding into what the
characters in Jane Eyre are thinking and feeling. As a result the reader connects with the characters
on a deeper level. Charlotte Bronte created a masterpiece in writing this novel. One of the greatest
qualities she imbued into this book happens to be its use of repeated symbolism and themes, which
came together and created one unified

  • 2. Alienation And Isolation In Frankenstein An Analysis of the Theme of Alienation and Isolation in Frankenstein by Mary Shelley This literary analysis will analyze a close reading of the theme of alienation and isolation of the Monster in Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. The passage chosen from Shelley s novel will define the self education of the monster through the symbolism of Lucifer in John Milton s epic poem Paradise Lost: But Paradise Lost excited different and far deeper emotions...but I am solitary and detested (Shelley para.7). The relationship between the Monster (as Lucifer) and God (as Victor Frankenstein) defines the neglect and abandonment that define his alienation and struggle in isolation. Milton s heroic description of Lucifer defines the Monster s identity as a re animated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The chosen passage defines the importance of Paradise Lost by John Milton as a form of literary symbolism to define the Monster s self education as a basis for his revenge against Victor. The relationship between God and Adam defines how the Monster comes tor realize that he has been created by a supernatural being, much like he was created by Victor. However, he also comes to know that God has abandoned him. The Monster knows that he has not been given the love and resources given to Adam, which forces him to realize that he is more like the fallen angel Lucifer. In response to this realization, the Monster decides to kill Victor s wife, just as Lucifer destroyed eve by tempting her to eat the forbidden apple from the Tree of Knowledge. These are important aspects of literary symbolism that the Monster learns that create a motivation for vengeance against his creator. This passage defines the theme of alienation and isolation that the Monster endures through the literary symbolism of Paradise Lost by john Milton in Mary Shelley s ... • 3. Amnesty To Illegal Immigrants Essay U.S. government should not grant amnesty to illegal immigrants. When the government grant amnesty to unauthorized immigrants, people who cross the U.S. border illegally would get legal status. As the population of unauthorized immigrants increased and consequences of granting amnesty were shown, questions about whether or not unauthorized immigrants should stay in the United Statesbecame controversial. Although some people argue that illegal immigrants pay taxes and work hard, they are actually harming our society politically and economically. For example, they abuse America public services such as education and health care system, create heavy burdens for US taxpayers by receiving more benefits than paying taxes, contribute to crime rates, and take jobs from legal citizens. In 1986, president Ronald Reagan passed The Immigration Reform and Control Act, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The number of undocumented immigrants has exploded from 5 million in 1986 to more than 11 million today (Heubusch, John. What Reagan would do about Immigration. , sks.sirs.com) . In other words, granting amnesty to illegal immigrants actually stimulate more people to enter our state illegally. As a result, amnesty should not be granted to undocumented immigrants since it will not help to reduce population nor do any good for the country. Amnesty should not be granted to unauthorized immigrants due to its negative impacts to our society. First, when people look back at the history of undocumented immigrants, they will discover that passing amnesty will cause more people to come to the country illegally. Second, immigrants are tax consumers, they created heavy burden for U.S. taxpayers. Third, immigrants take jobs from and lower the wages of U.S. workers. Lastly, they were contributing to the country s crime rate. All these reasons can prove that granting amnesty is detrimental to the country and there is no point for the government to enact ... • 4. Desoto s Home-Personal Narrative Making his way back to the DeSoto s house, Johnny was stopped at a stop sign when he felt someone slam into his back bumper. What the... he mumbled, gingerly picking up his head from where it rested between the steering wheel and window. Looking around carefully after stretching out the kinks in his neck, he couldn t see the car that had hit him, but he did hear the faint roar of what must have been a large muscle truck. Taking a deep breath, he just shook his head carefully. Performing a self check on himself and finding nothing wrong with the exception of a small bump above his left ear, Johnny assumed he was too stunned to notice the car leaving. Considering how hard his head was slammed into the wheel, he just considered himself lucky... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since he didn t have much of a headache, at least not any more than he had after battling through the store, and there wasn t much damage done to his car, there was no point in reporting it or telling anyone. Besides, he had to get back to the party; he was already running a bit later than he wanted. If I reported this, I d end up with a puddle of ice cream in my car and then have to go back to that store for more. I am not going back to that zoo. Whoever invented six hour sales has to be mental. Besides, with my luck, something else would happen. Anyway, I feel fine, so why get insurance involved just to have them charge me even more than it would cost to repair it myself, he reasoned. I ll just let Roy know if something pops up later. Doubtful that it will. I know how a concussion feels by now. Hey Junior, thought you got lost, Roy smiled when he noticed Johnny wander into the backyard. Nope, no such luck! Besides, even when lost, I still know where I am, so I am not really lost, am I? • 5. A National Transportation Safety Board Investigation Into... A National Transportation Safety Board investigation into the crash, released 11 months later, lays most of the blame for the collision on a local Norfolk Southern crew who were working the line west of Aiken a day earlier. The crew of Train P22 told investigators they were running behind when they reached the Avondale Mills textile plant around 6:10 p.m. the evening of January 5. That did not give them enough time to drop off the cargo of sodium hydroxide (used as a bleaching agent at the Avondale Mills plant) and make the planned trip down to Warrenville without going over their work hour limit. So after finishing work at the Graniteville plant, the crew took a taxi to a hotel for the night with the intention of returning the following morning. No one noticed that the switch on the main line was still pointed towards the Avondale Mills spur. In fact, the brakeman was insistent that he had moved the switch back so any later trains going through town would still be able to go straight. 2 This is a case of pushing the limits to the edge and missing an important detail. The work limits are put into effect to prevent just this kind of over site of missing important details. Unfortunately this one resulted in a major accident with loss of life. When the limits are pushed mistakes are made and the result sounds like; In my mind, when I left [the industry track], everything was properly lined back to the main line. Mr. P is the king fish in the moat and has a very corrupt view on power over others. He tells Wart that Power is of the individual mind, but the mind s power is not enough. Power of the body decides everything in the end, and only Might is Right (White 45). Wart is hypnotized by the impact of Mr. P s words and learns that power is an intimidating thing. Mr. P is the epitome of unjust power being forced over the fish of the moat. He is portrayed as an unflattering king and Wart begins to be introduced to the idea that power is not always a good attribute. The idea of power is shown again... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He is scared by the pressures of power and is intimidated based off his past experiences. Earlier in the novel, while talking to the badger he says, I should have liked to go to war (White 187). Through his experiences with Merlin, he now believes that ruling in a noble way is more important than intimidating the people one rules over. He adapts the mind set and ideals of his teacher, Merlin. Merlin consistently believes that jousting and tilting are foolish and childish. He passes his ideals on to Wart through showing him how foolish it is to joust when he takes Wart to see King Pellinore and Sir Grummore fight for no reason. He shows Wart that bravery isn t what he was traditionally taught and bravery is really shown when one has knowledge and a just mind set. White develops this motif through the theme that power corrupts and one must rule with equality and bravery in order to be a strong leader. This theme is explored and embodied through Merlin and his teachings. Through Merlin, Wart learns what it means to be a capable and knowledgable leader. With his strong militaristic background and intellectual experiences, Arthur is given potential to be a wise ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When compared to the media available to people before the 21st century, this medium for taking in information seems daunting. These simulations enable users to overwhelm themselves with information and stimuli. As a result, people lose touch with the importance of critical thinking and time away from virtual realities. As virtual realitytechnology develops, people will accustom themselves to evaluating their environment through a technological medium, so they will begin to accept information superficially rather than critically. Virtual reality (VR) environments are three dimensional environments that create simulations for users to interact with. For example, a VR user might wear a headset that simulates a roller coaster ride and he or she will experience sensations similar to that of a physical roller coaster. These simulations are becoming increasingly realistic as VR technology continues to progress, so users will continue to experience more life like simulations as time goes on. Using VR immerses people into worlds that are entirely different from their own, and while these simulations are beneficial in that they provide experiences users might otherwise never have the opportunity to experience, it also distracts them from their physical environment. If some of the older vehicles are still in working order and there are no major repairs needed, retrofitting the engines to meet the new standards could also be an alternative. The cost of this is considerably lower than the purchase of a new vehicle and it is still as effective. In researching the data, I discovered that the use of biodiesel is an alternative fuel source as well. This fuel, a 20/80 mixture, does not require any type of retrofitting of the engine. This product has the added ability of cleaning out the particles that have built up by the use of using diesel fuel throughout the engine and fuel system. These particles are expelled via the exhaust or fuel filter. The only cost that will incur would be the cost to replace the fuel filter during the initial uses of the product until the entire system is clean. This attributes for roughly 12% of the terrorism accounted for in this database between 1970 and 2014. Consequently, with all this global unrest, there is a need for military recruitment and skilled people to join the armed forces. Recruitment involves much consideration including choosing a branch, entrance requirements, testing, and evaluation. There are many different jobs available in armed forces, so it is important for candidates to really research what they want to do before taking action. Further, depending on the job, there are different levels of training to be completed. Careers in the military, specifically within the Special Forces, are very important for security of the nation. Army Rangers are some of the most skilled and rigorously trained people in the armed forces. As a world famous surgeon, he not only is in control of his life, but the life of his patient. Mitty cleverly adapts to emergencies like using a fountain pen to fix the needed surgical machinery (The). Every time he escapes, it is because of a trigger, often through an authority figure imposing on him. In fact, it is the clear distinction between fantasy and reality that makes escaping a theme. The heavy juxtaposition between diction of the dream world and real life is evident. For example, in the second daydream as a surgeon, Dr. Mitty snapped at fellow doctors and nurses to give him a fountain pen and uses fake yet complicated sounding medical terms such as Obstreosis of the ductal tract (The). However, in the subsequent paragraph as Walter clumsily almost hits another car in the parking lot in reality, he only muttered in response to the valet, unable to give a definitive reply. The dramatic juxtaposition between Mitty s spectacular fantasies and mundane reality drives the story. Thurber highlights Mitty s desperateness for action through the drastic differences in scenes. Also, Thurber distinguishes daydreams by incorporating much more imperative voice and literary devices compared to straight dialogue in the reality. Thurber literally makes the fantasies more alive and interesting than boring reality. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (previously described as non insulin dependent diabetes) is a condition due to hyperglycemia that accompanies a relative rather than an absolute insulin deficiency. It appears as a consequence of the alteration (genetically inherited or acquired) of insulin secretion, sometimes associated with peripheral insulin resistance. Impaired ability to absorb certain macronutrients such as carbohydrates, lipids and proteins can lead to a large spectrum of chronic complications that involve more or less all tissues of the human body. Globally, an estimated 422 million adults are living with diabetes mellitus, according to the latest 2016 data from the World Health Organization. Diabetes Mellitus affects an estimated 29.1 million people in the United States and is the 7th leading cause of death. T2DM includes a heterogeneous group of diseases that associate in different degrees two major metabolic defects: beta cell insulin secretion defect and insulin resistance of the peripheral tissues. Obesity and insulin resistance are characteristic for the majority (80 90%) of T2DM cases (Obese T2DM). The sine qua non condition for the progression from the preclinical phases (prediabetes) to the overt hyperglycemia stages is represented by the presence of the insulin secretion beta cell defect. Something else that drove Stella to act the way she did was the fact that Magda was different from them. Magda was not like the other jews in the concentration camp. Although she only a baby, Magda had the features of an aryan . This was probably another reason Stella did such an evil deed. Stella without remorse stole Magda s only thread of hope for survival. The shawl that stella stole was the only driving force keeping Magda alive. She purposefully ripped it from her to lead to her demise. • 34. The Connection Theories And Why I Am My Friend s Dad It was a Friday night with a clear dark sky and birds tweeting all around. I was sitting outside on the balcony scrolling through my twitter timeline when I landed on a twitter thread. A twitter thread is a set of tweets that a person tweets consecutively to inform, satirize, persuade or amuse the reader. These threads tend to be about anything and everything and they ve become my favorite part of going on the app itself. Some examples I ve seen before range from How I slept with my best friend s dad to How I achieved a 4.0 . The one I landed upon that night was about conspiracy theories and seeing as the thread was long, I went back inside, got comfy and began reading. The thread started with the Mandela effect which seemed pretty intense then it went on to the famous 9/11 theory. The one that caught my eye was Denver International Airporttheory. This had me shook that the airport 20 minutes away from me is considered hell. It s actually so creepy a chill runs down my spine writing about it. • 35. Social Tension Surrounding The United States Essay Introduction In what has become known as the issue of the century by many (Buchanan, 2015), immigration has been a topic of debate and an area of sociological tension for several decades in the United States. It can be seen daily in our newspapers, television shows and especially in America politics. In fact, it could be argued that this form of social tension in the United States goes as far back as 1492 when Christopher Columbus first stepped foot on what is now North America. It was from this point that social tension surrounding immigration into the modern United States truly began between early European explorers and the existing Native Americans. Social tension surrounding immigration began to peak when large scale immigration into the United States started in the late 1800 s. In the early days of immigration into the United States the social tension surrounded the diaspora of the Native Americans which lead to the creation of indian reservations (cite US History.org). This early social tension primarily surrounded the obtainment of land and the establishment of property. As we move forward into history, modern immigration tension in America is more focused on immigration from Mexico. This paper will explore immigration into the United States and help determine why it is a source of social tension. Some groups suggest that immigration threatens America s resources and should be better controlled while others suggest that immigration is vital to the success of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cyrus seems to be the perfect leader he pays attention to his citizens, leads his nation to military success, and imbues the Persian society with morals and equality. Yet, Cyrus also has his weaknesses, failing to make lasting friendships and secure a promising future for his Empire after he is gone. Therefore, I will argue that Xenophon uses the life of Cyrus to show how to be a perfect public official and how being a charismatic public official does not mean you are a good ruler and leader. Cyrus is a demagogue a charismatic public official that is proficient at making friends and swaying public opinion his way. He crafts his image to fit that of an admirable but approachable leader, calling men by name (5.3.47), giving them rewards for following his orders (8.2.10), and calling soldiers and citizens that please him friend (4.2.17). This is what makes him more of a public official than a leader for his people giving the Empire to his son will make his name last, and the people will continue to shower his legacy with adulation. Quaternary Ammonium Compounds Research Paper Quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs), also known as quats, are usually positively charged molecules with a nitrogen atom that has four other bonds (Sabapathy, 1994). Global warming is a disease that is one of the root causes of Earth s illness. This invisible change has a lot of drastic effects on mankind, wildlife as well as nature. The reasons to these destructions are humans themselves. There are some very obvious ways to tackle the situation. Many of the extraordinary weather changes since the 1950 s are recorded in the instrumental temperature record which stretches out to the mid 19th Century while having thousands of years according to the Paleoclimate Proxy Records [IPCC Climate]. Temperature across the whole world is predicted to change throughout this century and continuing. The Earth s ability to tackle the emission of heat trapping gases, as well as the amount of gases released will predict the magnitude of global climate change [NASA]. Scientists are sure that global temperatures will continue to rise for decades to come, largely due to greenhouse gases produced by human activities. 2.5 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit of temperature rise is predicted over the next century by a group of 1300 scientists of The Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change (IPCC) from the United States[IPCC]. Climate change will have different effects on different regions depending on the adapting ability with time, of that region, said IPCC. A 1 to 3 degree Celsius increase in global temperature will have deadly consequences in some region and propitious one in other regions. Net annual costs will increase over time as global temperatures increase [NASA]. Now let us move into more detailed information. Climate change has a lot of effects on the rise of sea levels. Average sea level around the world rose about 8 inches (20 cm) in the past 100 years; climate scientists expect sea levels to rise more and more rapidly in the next 100 years as a part of climate change impact. However, while these ideals may seem dated, Machiavelli s description holds many similarities and differences to American politics today. Machiavelli s views on republics serve as the first difference between his political views and the American government. Machiavelli generally puts those in a republic in a negative light by claiming that the subjects of a republic are not used to standing up for themselves and cannot agree to give themselves a leader. Therefore, it is not a sturdy government to capture. Instead of finding the idea of no singular person being a leader a good way to ensure statewide cooperation and content, Machiavelli claims that, In republics there is more vitality, greater hatred, and more desire for vengeance, (Machiavelli, Chapter V). Which is a far cry to the American government s oath to all of its freedoms and liberties. Machiavelli moves on to say that the safest way to capture a republic state is to destroy it altogether. This shows his views on republics are very much negative and that he believes they are almost a nuisance to a prince trying to maintain a state. In these two examples of architecture and their art; the Catacombs at Villa Torlonia, Rome 3rd C, Menorahs and Ark of the Covenant, and the Catacombs of Commodilla, Rome 4th C, Peter Strikes Water from Rock, Martyrs Felix Adauctus, Pantocrator, we can see how two pieces of architecture and their art, reinforce Jewish and Christian communities in the way they worship and how that influenced their communities while living in Late Rome. • 53. Messages Found in China Mieville’s Embassytown Essay Science fiction is often looked down upon as if it were some how a lesser literature than other forms of fiction, however in one way science fiction is better than other forms of fiction. While all books will convey messages to the reader science fiction is especially good at doing so. A reason for this is perhaps that in sciencefiction we are looking not at our world, but at a place our world might someday go. In science fiction the world we see is our world distorted, and when you see a slightly different world from the one you know, it helps you to inspect the world you do live in a bit more. Embassytown has several underlying messages and values in the book. When interviewed for Book Lust China Mieville said That s not to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even if, assuming the Ambassadors are aware of what has happened with EzRa and the Hosts, they refuse to explain what has happened. They do not want to explain because as the saying goes knowledge is power, and as they are the only ones able to communicate with the Hosts the have almost all the power. Had they been more willing to help foster understanding between their people and the Hosts than perhaps much of the mess that happened in the book could have been avoided. Another thing that demonstrates this point is that the way Avice fixes the problem is by forcing the Hosts to understand her better. Before the Hosts did not understand that she was sentient, that the noises she made were her trying to communicate. I m sorry but I need them to understand that you re two people because I need them to understand that I m one. That these bloody squawks I make are language (307). Her teaching them that she was a person, who spoke and communicated like they did was the thing that saved them. It was only after Avice made them understand that she was a person that they were able to communicate with the Absurd. They were able to communicate because now they were thinking in the same way, where as they hadn t been before. This theme is also demonstrated by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Theme Of Symbolism In Jane Eyre Charlotte Bronte created Jane Eyre, a revolutionary novel that since first released in 1847 and ever since then still remains relevant despite being a classic piece of literature. The novel persistently not only known for its new ideas, such as a relatable female protagonist, and defying the gender constraints placed on women during that time period, but for its extensive use of symbolism throughout the novel. Symbolism occurs when seemingly meaningless words and events lead to a deeper meaning. The splitting of the chestnut tree happens to symbolize and foreshadow an upcoming break in Jane and Rochester s relationship, and while their relationship faces hardships, and may never be the the same, somehow their relationship stays intact.... The character St. John Rivers has been compared to and placed near water and cold elements many times throughout the novel. The most prominent being that his name. The first time Jane views him, she says, I have never seen that handsome face of his look more like chiseled marble as he put aside his snow wet hair from his forehead. When he is placed by the fire he s described as being gloomy and out of place, when placed near the fire. Because of Rivers aversion to heat and him being cold, he does not seem suitable nor compatible for Jane since she is full of warmth and passion and he seems to be out of place when near the fire. When Jane spoke of how he would be as a husband, she says, He has no more a husbands heart for me than that frowning giant of a rock, down which the stream is frothing over yonder gorge. she uses water imagery to express his feelings. Moreover Jane being a very passionate person sees the absence of passion and emotion to be as bad as death itself. Charlotte Bronte s use of symbolism helps give the reader an in depth understanding into what the characters in Jane Eyre are thinking and feeling. As a result the reader connects with the characters on a deeper level. Charlotte Bronte created a masterpiece in writing this novel.
