Santiago de Compostela is the capital city of Galicia, Spain located in the province of A Coruña. In the 9th century, the tomb of St. James the Apostle was discovered here, leading to the establishment of the city as an important pilgrimage destination. Over the centuries, pilgrims from across Europe would follow routes like the French Way to make the journey and pay homage to St. James' remains.
