The water cycle describes the continuous movement of water on, above, and below the surface of the Earth. It involves evaporation, transpiration from plants, condensation, precipitation, and collection of water in lakes, rivers, oceans, and groundwater. The sun drives the water cycle by heating water which evaporates and rises into the atmosphere, where it cools and condenses into rain or snow and falls back to Earth, completing the cycle.
