The Toughest Questions In Life
"Beginnings are usually scary and endings are usually sad, but it's everything in between that makes
it all worth living."
To me, one of the toughest questions in life is, how can you possibly make everything in between
worth living with such limited given time?
When I was young my parents used to tell me:
"Time is free
But it's priceless
You can't own it
But you can use it
You can't keep it
But you can spend it
Once you've lost it
You can never get it back"
The final two lines of this quote have stuck with me and often play over and over in my head.
Time. It is arguably our most valuable commodity, yet some people are given so little to spend.
Unlike treasured gems, precious metals, and any other prized possessions, time can't be hoarded,
collected, earned, or bought with hard work, money, dignity, or our soul. It slips away whether or
not we choose to pack meaning into it. Use it or lose it, so goes the saying.
Though we all know how limited our lives are, we sometimes act like we don't know the value of
time. We use words like spend, kill, or waste when we speak of using the finite number of hours in

He lived 95 full years and although he lived a long life, his death left me heartbroken and in deep
sorrow. Despite me feeling so empty when he passed, I felt as though all the pain and suffering was
worthwhile because looking back he made the world a better place for everyone around him. After
he passed away, I decided to start living my life with more meaning and purpose and I then came to
the realization that when I pass away I too and going to leave behind family and loved ones and I
hope that my legacy left behind will prove that my 'dash' and my 'everything in between' will be
worthwhile. As the saying goes, "It's not about the name your parents give you, it's about the name

Music And Prehistoric Music
Music has been a part of humanity for so long. It was used as a tool for entertainment and self–
expression and still is today. From great musicians such as Beethoven, Mozart, and Bach to Frank
Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, and Kurt Cobain, and currently Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, and Kendrick
Lamar, we can say that music continues to evolve and develop over time while retaining its
distinction between each era. But let's go further back–to the very start. Prehistoric music has started
in illiterate cultures, beginning somewhere in geological history. Some suggest that the origin of
music likely traces back to naturally occurring sounds and rhythms. Even today, some cultures have
certain parts of their music intending to imitate natural sounds. Ancient music is what followed the
prehistoric era at the advent of writing. This was the era where musical instruments were first used.
This was also the era where they used music theory by playing melodies based from scales. This
was the era where the "oldest known song" was written and was in cuneiform, dating to 3400 years
ago from Ugarit. It was demonstrated to be composed in harmonies of thirds and was also written
using a scale called the Pythagorean tuning, of the diatonic scale. Medieval music was an era of
Western music, including liturgical music used for the church, and secular music, non–religious
music. This includes solely vocal music, such as Gregorian chant sung by monks during Catholic
Mass and choral music–music for a group

Descriptive Essay On A Concert
Concert Nights
The feeling was chimerical. Seeing these bands up close was an amazing experience.
This summer I attended two concerts, and just thinking about how those bands were in the same
place as me is just something I will never forget.
I've been to concerts before, but I've never seen notorious bands, it was always local bands. This
summer I saw Nickelback and Green Day. I saw Nickelback and Green Day back to back, and they
were both on school nights so I can assure you I was tired the next morning. Those concerts were
the best concerts I have ever been to in my life.
My mom and I have wanted to see Nickelback for a while so when my mom told me we were going
to witness them in concert I went haywire. I've wanted to go for such an enduring time. The concert
was primarily scheduled for June 23 but was sadly cancelled due to flash flooding. I was pretty
bummed out, but my mom was turbulent because she had been waiting for years to go see them in
concert and was scared that the tickets she bought would go to waste. We later found out that we
could still use the tickets, but unfortunately the concert was rescheduled on a school night, but my
mom made it very clear that we were not missing this concert what–so–ever. So on August 15 my
mom, my two uncles, my mom's friend, and I headed down to Noblesville. When we got there we
pulled into the parking lot and saw a car with the name "Lillian" on it, which was to some extent
funny as a result of my mom's other friend was at

Stereotypes In Skyscraper
Have you thought about songs that represent you? Songs can explain everything you are going
through, you just have to listen or read the lyrics. The song "Skyscraper" by Demi Lovato represents
me because of how no one can tear me down, I have been hurt for so long I have learned how to
ignore the pain most days. Next, the lyrics from "Adam's Song" by Blink 182 relates to me because I
have hit rock bottom and decided that I thought suicide was the answer but I changed my mind soon
after those thoughts. Then the lyrics from "Hall of Fame" by The Script showed me that I can do
whatever my heart desires and that I should not listen to the people trying to drag me down. That is
to say, "If Everyone Cared" by Nickelback is what I wish everyone was ... Show more content on

You may not realize what was said was hurtful to that individual, but to that individual that can be
the words they wake up to in the morning or when they look at themselves in the mirror. My
freshman year of high school I got called a whale, and that 110% still sticks with me. Every time I
look into a mirror I replay that moment, and see that guy who said those things and I could tell it did
not bother him one bit. As the lyrics from the song "You Want A Battle? ( Heres a War)" state, "your
words cut deep.../ I will not take this anymore/ These words will not be ignored/ you want a battle/
here's a war" (Bullet For My Valentine 2015). When a bully bullies an individual you have to learn
to stand up for yourself, tell someone, let people know you are being bullied so that you do not have
to continue feeling worthless because of a single ignorant comment. Sometimes it is best to ignore
that person, because they will realize that their words do not affect you, they possibly might leave

Nickelback: A Rock Band From Hanna, Canada
Nickelback is a rock band from Hanna, Alberta, Canada formed in 1995. It's one of the most
successful Canadian rock groups. They having sold about 30 million records worldwide, and is
ranked 11th as the bestselling music act of the 2000s. They also ranked as the 2nd bestselling
foreign act in the United States for the 2000s. The Band was formed by brothers Chad and Mike
Kroeger in Vancouver, with the help of their cousin Brandon Kroeger, and their friend Ryan Peake.
Brandon Kroeger (the drummer) however, is no longer in the band. He left the group in 1997, and
was replaced by two other people. First he was replaced by Mitch Guidon from 1997 to 1998. Then
Mitch was replaced by Ryan Vikedal from 1998 to 2005. The band is currently made up of four

When they released the debut CD, Curb in 1997 it gave them the pus they needed to start touring.
Around the1999, the band released their second CD called The State, which was released in 2000 in
the US under their own, independent label. When their song Leader of Men came out it hit the top–
twenty. After that it wasn't long until they signed with Roadrunner Records. Nickelback had a large
following in Canada, but not in the United Stated. That was Intel 2001, when they came out with
their third CD, Silver Side Up and the first single How You Remind Me, which made it to number
one on the U.S., and Canadian rock charts Over the course of several years the band has released
multiple albums like "Curb" (1996), "The State" (1998), "Silver Side Up" (2001), "The Long Road"
(2003), "All the Right Reasons", "Dark Horse" (2008) and "Here and Now" (2011), and more.

The Exile Poem By James Mcauley
When looking at the butterfly effect it's hard to imagine all the different outcomes that can possibly
happen when doing something as simple as waking up in the morning. The butterfly effect is I good
tool to use when inspiring people, with the unlimited opportunity and unlimited options.
Unfortunately like most things it's a coins flip, where there are good and bad outcomes. This is
never traditionally talked about, but the song "photograph" by Nickelback and the poem "The Exile"
by James McAuley do it justice. They both play off the idea that if you make the wrong decision
then you will regret it and no matter what you do, you can't change the past. The song "Photograph"
by Nickelback came out in 2005. It takes a more in depth approach showing ... Show more content

In this poem it shows more of how that regret change how your feel and think. For example "but the
truth always invades the dream house, street, family, are gone, the country itself has been abolished"
(Mcauley lines 2–4). This shows that the author regretted the decision he made so much that he cut
that entire part of his life out, not only saying the house was destroyed but the country. Not only
does it affect how you view your past but it affects how you view yourself "to see himself as he then
was it is all their except himself (Mcauley lines 8–9). This shows that when you look back into the
past you will see how your actions have changed you. So much so that you lose your self perception,
to where you start to feel lost. The part that stands out the most is at the very end the poem reads
"who turns to find the lost garden already vanished"(Mcauley lines 14–15). To me this line is saying
the lost garden provides for the people who are lost. So people still have the opportunity to learn and
grow and move on, but for the authors case it already vanished. So this shows that he has lost all
hope, that there is nothing he can do to get to a better place from where he is at

Rock And Roll In The 50's
Rock and Roll is not just another type of music, it is a part of people's lives. Rock and Roll shocked
the world since the 50's. Most people found this new music very enthusiastic, especially teens.
Across America where rock and roll was created, some people saw good in this music and others
saw bad. This is the history of rock and roll. Most historians trace rock and roll back to the 1950's,
more specifically 1954. When this new type of music appeared it changed the world, especially
among young people. Rock and roll did not develop immediately, it was regularly denounced
throughout the 50's because it was believed it had a negative impact on the nation's youth. American
Bandstand countered this and made it acceptable. Major artists who played ... Show more content on

by the mid 90's bands broke up or became less visible. Although these bands have faded, their music
continues to affect modern rock music.
Rock music today is still being created by popular bands such as Nickelback, Green Day, Avenged

In conclusion, Rock and roll had been an influence for generations down and will continue to

An Analysis Of Tom Robinson 's ' The Song '
If Everyone Cared–NickelBack This piece of the song is the moral the citizens of Maycomb must
learn and what is represented in Tom Robinson 's case. The song tells us that if everyone cared about
each other regardless of race and other discriminatory aspects, everyone would be fine. This song
could represent the theme, preservation of innocence. If every white person were to let go of their
pride in Maycomb, they would not consider themselves better than blacks and this would have saved
Tom Robinson from execution. This is what the citizens of Maycomb county fail to realize. The
whites of the county think they 're better than any black person and their pride leads to many of the
problems the county faces including Robinson 's death who was ... Show more content on

The song talks about this girl as a person who reminds the lead singer, Axl Rose, of a "safe place"
and his childhood. He also mentions in the song that he 'd "hate to look into those eyes and see an
ounce of pain." This is how Boo feels about both kids in a fatherly way as he repeatedly helps them
and saves them from Bob Ewell 's attack. Welcome to the Jungle–Guns n ' Roses This song
represents Maycomb as a "jungle". The scene where the mob gathers in front of the jail presents the
racist white people as animals who will kill anyone they don 't like, in this case, Robinson, an
innocent who has been accused of assaulting and raping a white girl. The song mentions, "I want to
watch you bleed", which is what the mob wants to do to Robinson. The song presents racism as an
addictive disease, if there is such a thing, that has afflicted the "animals" of Maycomb. The jungle 's
aim is to "bring you down" as Maycomb is successful in doing to the blacks and even people like
the Ewells who were never once helped and were completely ignored. Carry on My Wayward Son–
Kansas After the jury decides the guilty verdict of the trial, Jem is appalled and upset by this fact.
He can 't believe that after the vast amount of evidence presented by his own father, Atticus, that
clearly proves Robinson 's innocence, the jury still decides Robinson is guilty. If, even, a single
person in the jury had decided otherwise due to reasonable doubt, the trial would have had to go

The Role of 'Belonging' in Film and Print Essay
Belonging has many aspects several of which can be seen in the following texts. The texts "The
Crucible" ("TC") by Arthur Miller, "Rockstar" by Nickelback and "The Pursuit of Happyness" is a
movie starring Will Smith display several different aspects of belonging. The concept explored by
Arthur Miller in "TC" is the conflict between different groups and the ramifications of belonging to
a group. Meanwhile in "Rockstar" the composer explores the concept that people will wish to
belong to various groups and what extremes they are willing to go to in order to belong. On a similar
note, "The Pursuit of Happyness" explores how people are willing to change when they realize they
don't belong.

Throughout the play, Proctor has been portrayed as a non conformist. It is this non conformity about
proctor which is further shown in the final scenes. Proctor even though he had the opportunity to
walk free would not conform to what the courts wanted him to conform to. The dialogical aspect of
this is that proctor presents his thesis that it is not worth belonging to a society which is so narrow
minded. The antithesis presented by Danforth is that you must conform to power. The synthesis that
comes from this is that the responder is now able to see the true message that miller was trying to
show about society. As the book is symbolic of the time era Miller was living in, where communist
fear had spread, the responder can now see what extremes society is willing to go to in order to
remove fear, by the death of an innocent man, Miller can finally deliver his message.
Also by making Proctor sign himself to lies, Miller is also showing what is happening in America.
When some one was accused of communism in Miller's time, they were forced to make a public
confession. When Proctor says "because it is my name and I cannot have another in my life" it is
then clearly shown what the American Government was doing to people. By forcing people to
confess to communism, they were taking away what people belonged to.

While some acts of kindness created an emotional appeal, it is possible most of it was influenced by

discouragement. Allen told Joe "after a week and a half you will crack." As the cameras began to
keep following, Allen began a bit nicer and more sentimental once Joe began to talk about the
beauty of helping others. Allen began to agree, along with a change in body language, saying that

that appeals to me. Throughout the college process, counselors and brochures promote the same

things, but they went one step further by promoted their Jesuit tradition and commitment to the

Maybeth,' Dicey answered, without turning her head. Food, money, a way forward [on the road].
They had none. [Maybeth said] 'What's wrong?' Dicey almost laughed. 'What's right?' is what she
wanted to answer, but she didn't speak. Never mind the way forward [on the road], you couldn't get
without money and they had none," (p.94). This verifies that one symbol is the long road and it
symbolizes all four children's hardships, their hopelessness, and their poverty because nothing right
is going on in their lives. On the long road, you couldn't get money to buy food. That shows poverty.
On the road, they have to walk a long way forward while they are hungry and tired. Now that the
children are stopping and just giving up, it shows that they have no hope in themselves. If they had
hope, Dicey could've kept walking and find people to give her a job so she can earn money. For
now, they are hopeless with no money or food on the long road. Another symbol is the sailboat and
it symbolizes the hope the children need, and Dicey's want to be accepted and taken in by her
grandmother. Furthermore, the sailboat is damaged and ugly, but Dicey finds hope in it, and had
thoughts of fixing it and sailing it with her grandmother and siblings. For instance, when Dicey
discovers the boat, the text states, "A sailboat. It was small, only fourteen or fifteen feet. It

Music And Its Effects On The Digital Age
Billy Joel, Nickelback, Fifty Shades of Grey and Other Causalities of Schlock
Music Professor explores the social dynamic of taste–shaming in the digital age.
In some form or another, we've all been exposed to musical taste shaming.
If you're a fan of the Eagles, Rush, Drake, or god help your soul, are passionate about the music of
Nickelback, you've certainly received your share of barbs. As agents in what many have coined as
"the age of hipsterism," none of us are safe from the smug judgment of those who perceive their
own musical tastes as a cut–above the rest of us rubes.
Of course, hipsterism is just another term for yet another "age" that mimics the same social and
cultural elitist behaviours that have been occurring for centuries. Pomposity has always existed and
generally speaking, it is a personality trait of someone who is lacking a degree of authentic social
awareness. I mean, surely we can agree that it's myopic to judge someone's character based on their
musical preferences!
Although taste shaming is nothing new, shaming in today's digital world can have more profound
consequences than ever before. Through social media accounts, we're prompted to express ourselves
through vapid "must–complete" field templates. For most of these platforms, they ask us to list our
favourite shows, movies and of course, music. This exposed information provides cyber–bullies
with a public venue to judge and lampoon us based on our cultural palates. This makes us more

Essay On Road Trip
What would the United States be like without road trips? Road trips have been a vital part of the
history of America. Road trips have helped Americans explore the vast lands that make up the US.
These people take these trips for family vacations, solo vacations, business, to move to a new
location, to escape. These trips help people gain a better understanding of people and different
cultures within their own country. This question is posed in David Campany A Short History of the
Long Road "Is America imaginable without the road trip?"(p.8) Without people exploring the land
and having a desire to move and start new many towns and cities would not have been started.
People like to explore and see new things that they may not have in their birthplaces. This sense of
exploring is what drives the American road trip.
When cars like the Model T helped people afford their own car people wanted to travel. They
wanted to take family trips or leave behind their old lives. As cars advanced, trips began to go over
longer distances, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

photo makes me think about all of the bulletin boards that we see on the road even if we aren't on a
road trip. Bulletin boards cover the landscape all over the United States. They may be selling a

of our lives that we don't really notice. Some people wouldn't think twice when looking at this

Hall of Fame For Nickelback
Nickelback is a rock band that started in 1995, in Hanna Alberta, Canada. They were originally
called the "Village Idiots" but later changed there name to Nickelback in honor of their bassist Mike
Kroeger who used to work at Starbucks and frequently said "here's your nickel back" it may be an
odd name but was very catchy because in 1996 They made their first sorta album, it was a seven
track "EP" called Hesher. Before they released the Hesher EP, they performed lots of covers of
songs from bands like Led Zeppelin and Metallica, they were big fans of rock. Which was what
inspired the band to go into that genera. Nickelback signed with their first record company,
Roadrunner Records, in 1999.

Drive Of Life Poem
The title, "Drive of Life," indicates to me a long road trip. The long road trip is an individual's life. It
suggests that a person's life will continue on through, twists, turns, and obstacles. The drive is an
individual's life journey and all the events that they may have during their life time.
The beginning of this poem starts by telling us that the drive of life and journey has started. On your
journey of life you will face many decisions that may leave you to a point where you can't go on, or
to a point where you will go through many turns. On your life journey you will see many things.
With your eyes you will see mountains and storms. Additionally you will come across and see
heartache and scorn sometime on your life journey. You may be living life so fast that you can't stop
to catch a look at the outside world.
There may be times that the Devil or snake will lead you in the wrong direction and cause a crash
along the way. When this happens you may be scared, but if you look to God for guidance, like a
guard rail on the road, you will be able to continue on. As the journey comes to an end you can
reflect on your life and give wisdom to others so that they can have a successful life as well. This
advice may help them in the years ahead in their future. This narrative poem is talking about an
individual's life and events that may occur throughout. The speaker is talking to any reader by
telling them about the drive of life. They want them to be aware of many troubles or obstacles that
one can face during their life journey. The Drive of Life uses instances of imagery and figurative
language throughout. The third line compares decisions to dead ends and hairpins by using a simile.
This can enhance the poem by showing that some of your decisions outcomes can come to a point
where you can't continue on or the decision will cause you to go through many turns. When the
poem goes on to talk about how I see mountains, storms, heartache, and scorn it uses imagery and
repetition. By using repetition and imagery you can really imagine what the mountains and scenery
may look like. It enhances the picture in your head of the journey the individual is taking on the
drive of life. An uphill drop is also

An Analysis Of Lindo's Honor
"Honor to Us All" from Mulan: When Lindo is brought to her new family's home, there is a
thunderstorm where she decides to stay strong. One of the reasons she decides to maintain her pride
was to bring honor to her household, so as "to not uproot [her] family tree". Honor seems to be a
central part of Chinese culture, which is why it was so important to young Lindo.
"Worth It" by Fifth Harmony: During the days preceding the thunderstorm, Lindo feels very small
with her new rich family. However, in the thunderstorm, she finally decides that "[she's] worth it". In
her later life, she maintains her ego, though only because that night, she discovered the importance
of believing in herself.

As she prepares, she will "not throw away [her] shot". "My Shot" is a song about taking loads of
chances when they come, never thinking about it and then letting the chance slide from their
fingertips. Even though her plan may backfire, Lindo decides to go headlong into her plan,
regardless of any possible negative outcomes.
"Free" by Stryper: When Lindo finally got rid of Tyan–yu, she was free to " Choose [her] own
destiny". Since her servant was not tyan–yu's bride and she had money from the family, she could go
wherever she wanted, to a certain degree. She decides to head for America.
"What Are You Waiting For?" by Nickelback: Lindo wanted to raise a child in America so they
would have the best life: American circumstances and Chinese childhood. As Waverly grows up,
Lindo wants her to "reach for the top", sincer her success was one of the main reasons she came to
America.
"I'll Fight" by Daughtry: While Waverly may not know it at the time, Lindo truly wants her to have a

Music Community
As of recently, the music scene has become a less than ideal community to be a part of. The
community that I have grown to know and love is everyone respecting everyone. It was a place
where people could find new music, talk about music, write music, share music, etc. Now, though,
after observing some things from afar without getting engaged, I have been noticing a lot of things
that are absolutely not what music is or should be about. For the longest time, I have been noticing
some behaviors that should absolutely not be a part of something that is supposed to be almost a safe
space for many. One of the more noticeable examples of these behaviors are people who act all high

There is a reason that we don't see many Nickelback fans discussing their music and shows. That's
because the media and the internet has bullied Nickelback and their fans basically off the face of the
earth. It has gotten so bad that now the US Army has banned the playing of Nickelback and "other
terrible rock groups" that also included Korn, Smashmouth, Slipknot, and Creed, just for shits and
giggles. Roughly three months ago, a Canadian police force threatened to subject drunk drivers to
the band's music as punishment and one month later, Facebook released a promotional video that
states that there "...are no good Nickelback songs.". Is that how we are supposed to treat things that
we don't like? People tend to forget that these bands are, believe it or not, people. They are people

Essay On Grunge
In my teens I instantly fell in love with Nirvana and overnight when I bought their first album
'Bleach' became a fanatical Nirvana fan. I chose this topic because I wanted to explore the origin of
grunge and what it really was, the culture around it, the impact it had on fashion and most
importantly the biggest band of the time who placed grunge on the map, 'Nirvana'. Grunge is the
music which has been labelled as defining 'Generation X'. And even after 20 years of success, Kurt
Cobain and Courtney Love (arguably the main figures of grunge), still appeal and remain an icon to
many young music fans today. Grunge is even resurfacing as an influence in music today such as
Foo Fighters, Nickelback and Bush to name a few. Firstly, I decided to research where grunge ...

The book 'Performance and Popular Music' by Dr. Ian Inglis provided a great insight to what music
technicalities made Nirvana so appealing. This section of the book looks at Nirvana's live
performance in 1990 and compares each of their songs played in the set. It also discusses the key
components of Nirvana as a unit and their most important sounds as a unit. These were both the two
sounds Kurt Cobain was responsible for; guitar and vocals. For the reader, various technical terms
are explained. Cobain's vocal range is discussed in detail with a technical use of language by having
' a wide timbral and dynamic range from which to choose', along with the ability to support an
overdriven voice for long periods of time while maintaining the timbre of his voice. As well as
comparisons of the style of vocal Kurt uses in songs. It is also interesting to read the impact Dave
Grohl had as a drummer and how it improved their sound in comparison to their previous drummer

Music is apart of everyone's life. We listen to it daily on the radio. We hum melodies when we have
the song stuck in our head. Music is a huge part of my life and it has helped me tremendously. I
think every genre is good and has its ups and downs. I don't enjoy maybe 3 or 4 genres but I will
listen to the rest of them, from classic rock to rap. My childhood wasn't terrible but it could've been
better. Never Again by Nickelback fits this best I think. "She's just a woman, never again...
(Nickelback)." This song talks about a child witnessing his parents fighting so I figured it would
work best. Throughout everyone's life there has been at least one break. Many have a song that get

My top favorite would be High Enough by Damn Yankee's. I like this song just because of how it

point. Moving is apart of growing up and deciding what to do with your life. No one wants to stay in
the same old dead end town they have been at their whole life. I enjoy Waylon Jennings's Where the
Corn Don't Grow. It's a great song about a father telling his son to go out and see the world. "Don't
you ever dream about a life where corn don't grow (Waylon Jennings)." Death will come to us all,

Music Choices Affecting Driving Habits
Whether you take long trips regularly, or you simply drive back and forth to work, you likely listen
to music while you are driving. During this time, you may wonder, "Can different music choices
affect your driving habits?" Studies have looked at this question and found that your music choices
can influence how you drive. Negative Feelings Toward Song= Negative Driving Experience When
it comes to music, your feelings concerning the song can influence your driving. In a UK study from
2013, eight people, four men and four women, each drove 500 miles. For the first half of the trip,
they did not listen to music at all. The second half of the trip, they all listened to music. The study

For example, faster songs lead to more excitement, which can then cause the person to concentrate
on the song more than on the road. Along with that, a faster, upbeat tempo can cause drivers to
unconsciously speed up to match the song's beat. That does not mean slower beats are ideal either.
According to the study, slower songs can cause a person to relax too much, thereby making the
person less alert. The ideal driving song will have between 60–80 beats per minute, which mimics
the beat of the human heart. Looking at a few of the specific drivers in the study, one women drove
faster and engaged in last–minute breaking when she was listening to hip–hop music. A male driver
listening to a heavy metal playlist drove much faster than the other drivers. While it might not be
shocking to find that both of these genres negatively influenced these drivers' driving, many people
might be surprised to learn that classical music actually caused one male and one female driver to
drive more erratically than when they were not listening to any music at all. The Canadian

How Music Affected My Life
Music has had varying importance in my life. When I was young my brothers' listened to Alternative

much wider anything from Indie Rock to Classical to R&B. I was (and am) more focused on the
quality of the sound rather than the music itself, but I still enjoy simply listening to music more than
the majority of people. I have played a couple instruments, namely the cello. My life is full of
instances where music has affected my life the others around me. I still have old pictures of 6 year

My parents on the other hand are about the opposite. They tend to stick to Christian Pop and

Folk, Electronic Rock, and Electropop. I was very band loyal sticking to bands like The Killers,
Fleet Foxes, Postal Service, Mutemath and Coldplay (each of which I still regularly listen to). At
this point music was only something pass the time when I went on long trips. As I went into High

He has had 4 songs that reached number 1 at the top of the charts: I'll Be There for You, You Give
Love a Bad Name, Bad Medicine, and Livin' on a Prayer (Sterlingwit). Not only does he have a lot
of songs, some of them very famous, but most of them have a meaning to them or they have a good
story to them. Take his most famous song, Livin' on a Prayer. The song is about a working middle
class couple, Tommy and Gina.Just look at the lyrics and see for yourself. "Tommy used to work on
the docks. Union's been on strike, he's down on his luck, it's tough. Gina works the diner all day.
Working for her man, she brings home her pay for love." There it sets up this middle class couple
who is having a hard time getting by. The song then goes on to say, "She says, "We've gotta hold on
to what we've got. It doesn't make a difference if we make it or not. We've got each other and that's a
lot. For love we'll give it a shot." We're halfway there, livin' on a prayer. Take my hand and we'll
make it – I swear, livin' on a prayer." Gina said that they can't give up and just keep moving forward
with everything they have. It doesn't matter if they make it big or if they become even worse than
they are right now. They song goes on and talk about have Tommy used to play guitar and he missed
being able to play it. Gina wants to run away and she cries every night, but Tommy is there to

wasn't even enough houses for the canadians to live in. There wasn't really a lot of jobs so you
mainly had to be a farmer. If not then you had to catch fish and animals which was a pain. For

The Toughest Questions In Life

  • 1. The Toughest Questions In Life "Beginnings are usually scary and endings are usually sad, but it's everything in between that makes it all worth living." To me, one of the toughest questions in life is, how can you possibly make everything in between worth living with such limited given time? When I was young my parents used to tell me: "Time is free But it's priceless You can't own it But you can use it You can't keep it But you can spend it Once you've lost it You can never get it back" The final two lines of this quote have stuck with me and often play over and over in my head. Time. It is arguably our most valuable commodity, yet some people are given so little to spend. Unlike treasured gems, precious metals, and any other prized possessions, time can't be hoarded, collected, earned, or bought with hard work, money, dignity, or our soul. It slips away whether or not we choose to pack meaning into it. Use it or lose it, so goes the saying. Though we all know how limited our lives are, we sometimes act like we don't know the value of time. We use words like spend, kill, or waste when we speak of using the finite number of hours in ... • 3. Music And Prehistoric Music Music has been a part of humanity for so long. It was used as a tool for entertainment and self– expression and still is today. From great musicians such as Beethoven, Mozart, and Bach to Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, and Kurt Cobain, and currently Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, and Kendrick Lamar, we can say that music continues to evolve and develop over time while retaining its distinction between each era. But let's go further back–to the very start. Prehistoric music has started in illiterate cultures, beginning somewhere in geological history. Some suggest that the origin of music likely traces back to naturally occurring sounds and rhythms. Even today, some cultures have certain parts of their music intending to imitate natural sounds. Ancient music is what followed the prehistoric era at the advent of writing. This was the era where musical instruments were first used. This was also the era where they used music theory by playing melodies based from scales. This was the era where the "oldest known song" was written and was in cuneiform, dating to 3400 years ago from Ugarit. It was demonstrated to be composed in harmonies of thirds and was also written using a scale called the Pythagorean tuning, of the diatonic scale. Medieval music was an era of Western music, including liturgical music used for the church, and secular music, non–religious music. This includes solely vocal music, such as Gregorian chant sung by monks during Catholic Mass and choral music–music for a group ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Descriptive Essay On A Concert Concert Nights The feeling was chimerical. Seeing these bands up close was an amazing experience. This summer I attended two concerts, and just thinking about how those bands were in the same place as me is just something I will never forget. I've been to concerts before, but I've never seen notorious bands, it was always local bands. This summer I saw Nickelback and Green Day. I saw Nickelback and Green Day back to back, and they were both on school nights so I can assure you I was tired the next morning. Those concerts were the best concerts I have ever been to in my life. My mom and I have wanted to see Nickelback for a while so when my mom told me we were going to witness them in concert I went haywire. I've wanted to go for such an enduring time. The concert was primarily scheduled for June 23 but was sadly cancelled due to flash flooding. I was pretty bummed out, but my mom was turbulent because she had been waiting for years to go see them in concert and was scared that the tickets she bought would go to waste. We later found out that we could still use the tickets, but unfortunately the concert was rescheduled on a school night, but my mom made it very clear that we were not missing this concert what–so–ever. So on August 15 my mom, my two uncles, my mom's friend, and I headed down to Noblesville. When we got there we pulled into the parking lot and saw a car with the name "Lillian" on it, which was to some extent funny as a result of my mom's other friend was at ... • 5. Stereotypes In Skyscraper Have you thought about songs that represent you? Songs can explain everything you are going through, you just have to listen or read the lyrics. The song "Skyscraper" by Demi Lovato represents me because of how no one can tear me down, I have been hurt for so long I have learned how to ignore the pain most days. Next, the lyrics from "Adam's Song" by Blink 182 relates to me because I have hit rock bottom and decided that I thought suicide was the answer but I changed my mind soon after those thoughts. Then the lyrics from "Hall of Fame" by The Script showed me that I can do whatever my heart desires and that I should not listen to the people trying to drag me down. You may not realize what was said was hurtful to that individual, but to that individual that can be the words they wake up to in the morning or when they look at themselves in the mirror. My freshman year of high school I got called a whale, and that 110% still sticks with me. Every time I look into a mirror I replay that moment, and see that guy who said those things and I could tell it did not bother him one bit. As the lyrics from the song "You Want A Battle? ( Heres a War)" state, "your words cut deep.../ I will not take this anymore/ These words will not be ignored/ you want a battle/ here's a war" (Bullet For My Valentine 2015). When a bully bullies an individual you have to learn to stand up for yourself, tell someone, let people know you are being bullied so that you do not have to continue feeling worthless because of a single ignorant comment. • 7. The Exile Poem By James Mcauley When looking at the butterfly effect it's hard to imagine all the different outcomes that can possibly happen when doing something as simple as waking up in the morning. The butterfly effect is I good tool to use when inspiring people, with the unlimited opportunity and unlimited options. Unfortunately like most things it's a coins flip, where there are good and bad outcomes. This is never traditionally talked about, but the song "photograph" by Nickelback and the poem "The Exile" by James McAuley do it justice. They both play off the idea that if you make the wrong decision then you will regret it and no matter what you do, you can't change the past. The song "Photograph" by Nickelback came out in 2005. It takes a more in depth approach showing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this poem it shows more of how that regret change how your feel and think. For example "but the truth always invades the dream house, street, family, are gone, the country itself has been abolished" (Mcauley lines 2–4). This shows that the author regretted the decision he made so much that he cut that entire part of his life out, not only saying the house was destroyed but the country. Not only does it affect how you view your past but it affects how you view yourself "to see himself as he then was it is all their except himself (Mcauley lines 8–9). This shows that when you look back into the past you will see how your actions have changed you. So much so that you lose your self perception, to where you start to feel lost. The part that stands out the most is at the very end the poem reads "who turns to find the lost garden already vanished"(Mcauley lines 14–15). The song tells us that if everyone cared about each other regardless of race and other discriminatory aspects, everyone would be fine. This song could represent the theme, preservation of innocence. If every white person were to let go of their pride in Maycomb, they would not consider themselves better than blacks and this would have saved Tom Robinson from execution. This is what the citizens of Maycomb county fail to realize. This is how Boo feels about both kids in a fatherly way as he repeatedly helps them and saves them from Bob Ewell 's attack. Welcome to the Jungle–Guns n ' Roses This song represents Maycomb as a "jungle". The scene where the mob gathers in front of the jail presents the racist white people as animals who will kill anyone they don 't like, in this case, Robinson, an innocent who has been accused of assaulting and raping a white girl. The song mentions, "I want to watch you bleed", which is what the mob wants to do to Robinson. The song presents racism as an addictive disease, if there is such a thing, that has afflicted the "animals" of Maycomb. The jungle 's aim is to "bring you down" as Maycomb is successful in doing to the blacks and even people like the Ewells who were never once helped and were completely ignored. The texts "The Crucible" ("TC") by Arthur Miller, "Rockstar" by Nickelback and "The Pursuit of Happyness" is a movie starring Will Smith display several different aspects of belonging. The concept explored by Arthur Miller in "TC" is the conflict between different groups and the ramifications of belonging to a group. Meanwhile in "Rockstar" the composer explores the concept that people will wish to belong to various groups and what extremes they are willing to go to in order to belong. Proctor even though he had the opportunity to walk free would not conform to what the courts wanted him to conform to. The dialogical aspect of this is that proctor presents his thesis that it is not worth belonging to a society which is so narrow minded. The antithesis presented by Danforth is that you must conform to power. The synthesis that comes from this is that the responder is now able to see the true message that miller was trying to show about society. As the book is symbolic of the time era Miller was living in, where communist fear had spread, the responder can now see what extremes society is willing to go to in order to remove fear, by the death of an innocent man, Miller can finally deliver his message. Also by making Proctor sign himself to lies, Miller is also showing what is happening in America. When some one was accused of communism in Miller's time, they were forced to make a public confession. When Proctor says "because it is my name and I cannot have another in my life" it is then clearly shown what the American Government was doing to people. • 23. Drive Of Life Poem The title, "Drive of Life," indicates to me a long road trip. The long road trip is an individual's life. It suggests that a person's life will continue on through, twists, turns, and obstacles. The drive is an individual's life journey and all the events that they may have during their life time. The beginning of this poem starts by telling us that the drive of life and journey has started. On your journey of life you will face many decisions that may leave you to a point where you can't go on, or to a point where you will go through many turns. On your life journey you will see many things. With your eyes you will see mountains and storms. Additionally you will come across and see heartache and scorn sometime on your life journey. You may be living life so fast that you can't stop to catch a look at the outside world. There may be times that the Devil or snake will lead you in the wrong direction and cause a crash along the way. When this happens you may be scared, but if you look to God for guidance, like a guard rail on the road, you will be able to continue on. As the journey comes to an end you can reflect on your life and give wisdom to others so that they can have a successful life as well. This advice may help them in the years ahead in their future. This narrative poem is talking about an individual's life and events that may occur throughout. The speaker is talking to any reader by telling them about the drive of life. They want them to be aware of many troubles or obstacles that one can face during their life journey. The Drive of Life uses instances of imagery and figurative language throughout. The third line compares decisions to dead ends and hairpins by using a simile. This can enhance the poem by showing that some of your decisions outcomes can come to a point where you can't continue on or the decision will cause you to go through many turns. When the poem goes on to talk about how I see mountains, storms, heartache, and scorn it uses imagery and repetition. By using repetition and imagery you can really imagine what the mountains and scenery may look like. It enhances the picture in your head of the journey the individual is taking on the drive of life. I chose this topic because I wanted to explore the origin of grunge and what it really was, the culture around it, the impact it had on fashion and most importantly the biggest band of the time who placed grunge on the map, 'Nirvana'. Grunge is the music which has been labelled as defining 'Generation X'. And even after 20 years of success, Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love (arguably the main figures of grunge), still appeal and remain an icon to many young music fans today. Grunge is even resurfacing as an influence in music today such as Foo Fighters, Nickelback and Bush to name a few. Firstly, I decided to research where grunge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The book 'Performance and Popular Music' by Dr. Ian Inglis provided a great insight to what music technicalities made Nirvana so appealing. This section of the book looks at Nirvana's live performance in 1990 and compares each of their songs played in the set. It also discusses the key components of Nirvana as a unit and their most important sounds as a unit. These were both the two sounds Kurt Cobain was responsible for; guitar and vocals. For the reader, various technical terms are explained. Cobain's vocal range is discussed in detail with a technical use of language by having ' a wide timbral and dynamic range from which to choose', along with the ability to support an overdriven voice for long periods of time while maintaining the timbre of his voice. As well as comparisons of the style of vocal Kurt uses in songs. It is also interesting to read the impact Dave Grohl had as a drummer and how it improved their sound in comparison to their previous drummer Channing. Music is a huge part of my life and it has helped me tremendously. I think every genre is good and has its ups and downs. I don't enjoy maybe 3 or 4 genres but I will listen to the rest of them, from classic rock to rap. My childhood wasn't terrible but it could've been better. Never Again by Nickelback fits this best I think. "She's just a woman, never again... (Nickelback)." This song talks about a child witnessing his parents fighting so I figured it would work best. Throughout everyone's life there has been at least one break. Many have a song that get them through it or make them feel better about it. I always liked Love Bites by Def Leppard. This song is just so upbeat, I think everyone should listen to it at one point. Moving is apart of growing up and deciding what to do with your life. No one wants to stay in the same old dead end town they have been at their whole life. I enjoy Waylon Jennings's Where the Corn Don't Grow. It's a great song about a father telling his son to go out and see the world. "Don't you ever dream about a life where corn don't grow (Waylon Jennings)." Death will come to us all, you can only hope that you have nothing left to do or say when it's your time to go. You can't fear the reaper.
