Aerodynamics is known as the study of the different forces acting on an object and
the resulting motion of objects as they fly through the air. Today we know that

barometric conditions of the air and the shape of the object. Additionally the
velocity of the object and its relationship with the air plays a role as well. For a
spinning ball, the speed of rotation affects the magnitude of the aerodynamic force

The orientation of the axis of rotation or spin axis can be varied by the pitcher

In his article The Neglect of the Intellect: Sloth, Mortimer J. Adler asserts that the
disuse of a person s intellect is a moral injustice. Adler coins the term sloth to
describe the people committing this moral crime. He believes that people should
use their intellectual abilities for their own personal pleasure rather than for
economic or political gain. Adler employs an aggressive tone when describing the
abuse of the intellect, and appeals to the reader s emotion when portraying intellect

Adler says, Sloth is a moral fault, but unlike injustice that results in misconduct

elaborates on it. He calls the sloth a moral fault, but doesn t explain how that is
true. Adler also mentions that your private life will be affected, but never precedes
to explain how that could happen. Another example is when Adler states, But there
are a great many more who have sufficient ability to make the effort and fail to do
so (paragraph 3). Adler neglects to explain to the reader how this statement is true.
He later lists the activities of the people he referred to engage in, but he never

piece, while Blue Nude (Souvenir of Biskra) s colors offer a harsh contrast
between light and dark. Vuillard s piece tends to drift more towards the traditional
female nude composition; the woman in the painting is has a more typical
feminine form and her pose is at least vaguely natural. Vuillard does deviate

overwhelms it. Overall, Vuillard seems to go for a more aesthetically pleasing yet
vaguely defined composition, while Matisse attempts a twisted and hardened take

Mars Hypothesis
PROBLEM What would be the best, easiest, and cheapest way to get enough water
to healthily sustain a Mars colony of one hundred people for one year? A second
question is, Is there a way to reduce the amount of water used by each human on a
daily basis?
HYPOTHESIS
My hypothesis is that the easiest, cheapest, and most sustainable source of water on
Mars will be filtration of urine. Scientists have already proved that this will work in
space on the International Space Station. A second hypothesis is that the amount of
water needed by humans on mars can be cut in half by making some simple changes.
PROCEDURE
To begin my experiment I will research information of several ways that you could

Also for any filter to be useable it has to be able to withstand the trip to mars and the
landing on mars.
Another method worth exploring is the binding of hydrogen and oxygen molecules.
If this works it could potentially be more sustainable and cheaper that the alternative.
For this to work it will need to be proven on earth before going to mars. It also will
need to be made a more simple process. Additionally it will need to be safe to do
within a building. The oxygen and hydrogen would also need to be able to be sent
in a pressurized form. Finally for this to work they would need a safe and efficient
way to transport it to mars. Another way to get water from mars would be the
melting of ice said to be located on the poles of mars. To make this work they
would need to know for certain that there is ice on mars. They would also need to
know how to melt the ice without starting a fire. Also they would need a way to
separate the water from the dirt it is said to be mixed with. Additionally they would
need to find a way to collect the amount of dirt it would take give the entire
population

Abstract: The main objective of this lab was to determine how to effectively measure
and compare bacteria in different water sources, specifically in this lab by using
Coleman Drinking Water Purification Tablets. The tablets did not eliminate bacteria
to the level found in tap water, however they were still very effective at eliminating
bacteria. The tablets as a result can be trusted by the user to remove any unnecessary
health risk when drinking water from an untreated source.

Water purification in the backcountry while camping and hiking takes place in many

That is why it is of the utmost important to check the effectiveness of a hiker s
equipment. Water purification is the most important thing to have while out
hiking in the backcountry. A real world scenario was the only way of being able to
properly tell whether or not the Iodine tablets could be counted upon, when they
are the only thing being used for water remediation. The lab procedure start by
taking a river water sample from the Menomonee River, which was then separated
into three 1L beakers which were then filled to the range of .95L to 1L. The water
samples as is, were then swabbed for bacteria, and rubbed across a Tryptic Soy
Agar plate (TSA), to facilitate growth of bacteria if any was present in the water.
The water was then treated with the drinking water tablets per their instructions,
and was then swabbed again for bacteria after the 35 minute mark. This second
swab was then also streaked across a TSA plate in order to check if there was any
bacteria still present in the water. The previous methods were also performed
concurrently with three identical amounts of water from the city of Milwaukee tap
water. This was done to account for any bacteria that could have entered the water
from the air, due to the open air beakers. The bacteria, if present on the TSA plates,
were then allowed to grow over several days, and the resulting bacteria colonies were
then counted, and purification levels were compared between the drinking water
tablets and the treated city
