This document describes the components of the solar system. It defines the solar system as including the sun and all planets, asteroids and comets that orbit it. It divides the planets into inner planets closest to the sun (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars) and outer planets farther from the sun (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune).
