This document discusses the rubbish problem and provides suggestions for reducing rubbish. It notes that plastic can take over 450 years to decompose and plastic jugs take over 1 million years. Some rubbish is burned, causing air pollution and damage to the ozone layer leading to global warming. Animals are negatively impacted by eating rubbish or getting tangled in it. 1. The Rubbish Problem.

2. How long rubbish takes to disappear.
A piece of of a plastic takes over 450 years to
disappear and plastic reusable jugs take over
one million years to disappear.
Some rubbish never breaks down, the rubbish
that doesn’t break down gets burnt in other
countries and now some people in China have
to wear masks, which in other words will make
air pollution and will damage the O-zone layer
which then means we get global warming.
Why do people and animals have to suffer this,
there must be better ways.

3. How we can reduce our rubbish.
One way we can reduce our rubbish is by getting rid of those multi bags of chips, because in the multi
bags there are 11 pieces of rubbish plus there is the packing around the 11. In the normal bags there are
way more chips and it is only one piece of rubbish in that normal bag - that is one thing that would make
a big difference around the world.
We could also reduce the rubbish by using less plastic jugs and just get one and after dinner or
something else by cleaning them out after use. If you don’t some people are just lazy and chuck the jug
in the rubbish, when it is still able to be used by them. When they chuck out this jug it takes more than
one million years to break down! And if these jugs will take that long we know that New Zealand hasn’t
been around for that long!

4. How animals get affected by rubbish.
Animals get affected in so many ways, they could get some bad diseases from plastics and and can get
really hurt from what happens. Other animals like seagulls go out to sea and see this piece of rubbish
floating in the sea and the seagull thinks it is food and goes down to eat it and it may or may not choke
on it. If the bird choked on it, it would have died, but if the bird didn’t choke on it would have had a life
of misery and that is just not cool.
Sorry if this is a bit negative, but it is true!

5. What is rubbish?
Rubbish can be loads of things but the main thing it is, is that rubbish is man-
made. Rubbish is normally made of plastic which is made out of Polyethylene or
PVC. If we made man-made things out of something else then maybe it will take
less time to break down. Now ain’t that an idea?

6. Stop rubbish before it invades earth!
We can stop rubbish from invading earth by
reducing which is on the third page and
recycling which will also make a big change. A
good thing to do is reusing stuff instead of
buying it straight from the shop.
Here is my question - do we need so many
clothes? One thing I know is if we didn’t buy so
many clothes there would be less things to
throw out like the tags on them and the
barcode, there must be better ways. We could
also reuse things, for example an old top would
make a perfect scarecrow wouldn’t it?
This is what we are going to be like in a few
million years because of rubbish but we can
stop it now.
