Plastic pollution kills animals in two main ways: animals often mistake plastic for food and eat it, which can cause injury or death, and animals can also get trapped in plastic debris like six-pack rings, restricting their movement and potentially killing them. The health of the oceans is critical to all life on Earth as the oceans regulate greenhouse gases and provide food. Reducing single-use plastics by refusing top sources like bags, bottles, and straws and opting for reusable alternatives or supporting brands with recycled packaging can help address the plastic pollution problem.
