1. River basin management plans (RBMPs) provide an integrated framework for coordinating various national strategies at the river basin district scale by bringing together stakeholders from different sectors like agriculture, energy, environment, and urban planning. 2. Developing a RBMP requires a multidisciplinary team, clear and accessible objectives, organizing water-related data, performing economic analyses, and engaging stakeholders in the planning process. 3. RBMPs in beneficiary countries will focus on building capacity for preparation and supporting working groups to structure institutions for sustainable future planning.
