Magna Carta

What country was it written for? England.

When was it written? The Magna Carta was written in 1215.

What did it do to the power of monarchies? It ensures feudal
right and limited the kings power to interfere. It gave the church
laws to protect the rights of the people.

How was this a form of "rule of law"? It gave the people a say
in the society.
Glorious Revolution

Where did it take place? In England.

Who took over as King of this country? William of Orange
and Mary took it over.

What document changed the power of Kings forever and
was a result of this revolution? The Bill Of Rights.
The English Bill of
     Rights

When was it written? 1689

In two sentences, explain what it did. The most important
thing that it did was limit the power to the king. It gave basic
freedoms to the people and he couldn’t raise taxes without
permission.
The Enlightenment

In two sentences, describe what the enlightenment was. It
was in the 18th century. They decided to challenge the way
everyone thought.

When did it take place? In the 1800’s.

Why is it important? It took us out of the dark ages. And
people were not living under superstition anymore.
Charles-Louis
   Montesquieu

Where was he from? France.

Thomas Jefferson
Thomas Jefferson

Where was he from? Albemarle County, Virginia

What is he most famous for writing? Declaration of
Independence.

Why did he switch the words from "property" to "the
pursuit of happiness"? He thought property was too specific
and that it wouldn't be able to hold as much meaning as
something more general like 'pursuit of happiness'.
