2. Magna Carta
The Magna Carta was written In England in the
year 1215.
It limited the power, and had laws that not even the
kings could violate. The same laws applied to
everyone.
Its a form of “rule of law” because people were more
ruled by the Magna Carta and not the kings.
3. Glorious Revolution
The glorious Revolution took place in
Spain.
William the 3rd took over and became king.
The English Bill of Rights changed the
power of the kings.
4. English Bill of Rights
The bill of rights was passed on
December 16, 1689.
The english Bill of Rights declared the
rights and liberties of subjects, and it also
settled the succession of the crown.
5. The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment was a movement in Europe.
European philosophers decided to use reason as
the method of learning the truth.
It took place from 1700s to the 1800s.
The Enlightenment was important because it had
an effect on our Declaration of Independence.
7. John Locke
Locke lived from August 29, 1632 -
October 28, 1704.
He was from England.
Natural rights are what we deserve and the
rights we are born with. We all should have
them, and we all deserve them.
8. Jean Jacques Rousseau
Rousseau had lived from June 28, 1712 - July 2, 1778
He was born in Geneva, Switzerland.
The social contract is a book about the best way to set
up a political community in society. It says that we all
should be alike and do the same duties.
9. Thomas Jefferson
Jefferson was from Shadwell, Virginia.
He was most famous for writing The Declaration
of Independence.
I think Jefferson changed “property” to “the
pursue of happiness” because he believed you
shouldn’t have to have property to be someone.
