This document provides an overview of options basics, including: types of options (calls and puts), components (strike price, premium, intrinsic/time value), risk factors, and strategies (long/short calls and puts). It also defines key Greeks like delta, gamma, vega, and theta that measure an option's sensitivity to changes in the underlying asset price, volatility, and time to expiration.
The document summarizes various options strategies that can be used based on different market outlooks. It describes bullish, bearish, neutral, and volatile market strategies using calls, puts, spreads, and combinations. For example, it explains that buying a call is a bullish strategy that profits if the market rises above the strike price, while selling a put is also bullish but profits from premium received if the market stays flat or rises.
The document provides an overview of mutual funds, including what they are, their concept, types, objectives, advantages, disadvantages and how to buy one. A mutual fund is a professionally managed investment tool that pools money from investors to purchase securities like stocks, bonds, and money market instruments. The main types discussed are open-ended and close-ended funds, as well as equity, income, balance, money market, gilt and index funds.

Cash credit includes installment loans, single payment loans, and general purpose credit cards which provide cash advances. Real estate credit is used to purchase or improve homes, with the property serving as collateral for the loan.
This document provides an overview of stakeholder identification and analysis techniques discussed in Bryson's book. It outlines several matrices and grids that can be used to analyze stakeholders, including:
1) A power versus interest grid to categorize stakeholders based on their power and interest levels
2) A stakeholder influence diagram to show how stakeholders influence each other
3) A participation planning matrix to determine the best ways to engage different stakeholders over time
4) Additional grids to assess stakeholder support, opposition, capabilities, and strategies for implementation.

Passive bond strategies involve less active management and rely on known inputs like risk tolerance at the time of investment. Two main types are buy-and-hold, which selects bonds to match the investor's horizon with minimal trading, and indexing, which constructs a portfolio matching a bond index. Active strategies try to maximize returns through interest rate forecasts, selecting undervalued bonds, credit analysis of issuers, or yield spread trades between bonds. Matched-funding techniques combine passive and active approaches for higher returns than buy-and-hold but less than fully active management.

This document discusses the fundamentals of investment, including definitions, principles, asset types, and considerations. It defines investment as a monetary asset purchased to generate future income or appreciation. The 5 basic principles are to diversify investments, start early to benefit from compound interest, understand that higher risk means higher potential returns, maintain investments during market slumps, and buy low and sell high. Main asset types include fixed income securities, shares, unit investment trusts, mutual funds, and property. Key considerations for investment include objectives, life stage, funds availability, risk tolerance, investment horizon, taxes, performance, and diversification. It also introduces variable universal life insurance as a new alternative investment option.
The Markowitz model generates an efficient frontier of optimal portfolios that maximize return for a given level of risk. The Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM) builds on this by deriving the security market line (SML) which plots the expected return of individual securities based on their beta coefficient in relation to the market portfolio. The capital market line (CML) extends the efficient frontier by including a risk-free asset, demonstrating how investors can optimize the trade-off between risk and return through borrowing and lending at the risk-free rate.

An options contract gives the buyer the right, but not the obligation, to buy or sell an underlying asset at a specified strike price on or before the expiration date. There are call and put options. A call option allows buying the asset, while a put option allows selling the asset. The buyer pays a premium to the seller for this right. The profit/loss of the buyer and seller depends on whether the option expires in or out of the money. The buyer's potential profit is unlimited but their loss is limited to the premium paid, whereas for the seller the potential loss is unlimited but profit is limited to the premium received.

Derivatives are financial instruments whose value is derived from an underlying asset such as a commodity, currency, bond, or stock. There are several types of derivatives including forwards, futures, and options. A forward is a customized contract where the buyer agrees to purchase an asset at a set price on a future date. Futures are standardized forward contracts that are exchange-traded. Options provide the right but not the obligation to buy or sell the underlying asset at a predetermined price on or before the expiration date.
Startup Equity Standards - A Guide for EmployeesMary Russell
Learn the three standards that define startup employee equity and three questions to ask to make sure you have the real thing.
1. Ownership - “Can the company take back my vested shares?”
2. Risk/Reward - “What information can you provide to help me evaluate the offer?”
3. Tax Benefits - “Is this equity designed for capital gains tax rates and tax deferral?”
Derivatives derive their value from underlying assets such as stocks, commodities, currencies, and bonds. The main types of derivatives are forwards, futures, and options. Forwards involve an obligation for both parties to fulfill the contract terms at a future date. Futures are standardized contracts traded on an exchange with high liquidity. Options confer the right but not obligation to buy or sell the underlying asset at a strike price by an expiry date. Key participants in derivatives markets include speculators, hedgers, and arbitrageurs. Common derivatives strategies involve futures arbitrage, hedging, and using options spreads. Greeks like delta and gamma help analyze how option prices change with movements in the underlying asset.
The document discusses the key characteristics of bonds. It defines what a bond is, who issues them, and various types including corporate bonds, municipal bonds, and foreign bonds. It then outlines important bond characteristics such as par value, coupon payments, interest rates, maturity dates, call and put provisions, convertible bonds, and income bonds. Bonds are a long-term debt instrument where the issuer borrows money from investors and agrees to repay the principal amount on a future date, while periodically paying interest.
The debt market allows governments and companies to raise capital by issuing bonds and debt securities. The debt market is segmented into the primary market, where new bonds are issued, and the secondary market, where existing bonds are traded. Debt markets play an important role in efficiently allocating resources in the economy and financing government development activities. Common debt instruments include loans, debentures, bonds, mortgages, and treasury bills. Participants in the debt market include issuers, investors, managers, agents and trustees, and trading infrastructure providers. While debt financing provides tax advantages and retains business control for issuers, it also requires meeting fixed payments and carries risks if collateral is provided or cash flow declines.

The main types are calls, which are options to buy, and puts, which are options to sell. Key terms discussed include premiums, strike prices, expiration dates, and intrinsic and time value. The uses of options for hedging and speculation are also summarized. Overall, the document provides a high-level overview of options, their characteristics and applications.
The document discusses various types of options strategies that can be used in the stock market. It defines call and put options and provides examples. It also explains covered calls, bull spreads, bear spreads, butterfly spreads, and calendar spreads as options strategies. Bull spreads profit if the underlying stock rises, while bear spreads profit if the stock falls. Butterfly spreads seek limited profit from little price movement. Calendar spreads involve options of the same stock but different expiration months, aiming to profit from time decay of nearer dated options.

Abstract: Despite the strides made recently for women in business, female tech professionals continue to be outpaced by their male counterparts. According to Silicon Valley Bank’s Innovation Economy Outlook survey, less than 50 percent of technology companies have women in the C-suite or serving on the board of directors. Only 19 percent of CIO positions for Fortune 250 companies are held by women.
In fact, the gender disparity among technology professionals seems to be increasing in spite of recent gains throughout the workplace. Fewer women are joining the tech workforce and the numbers of female students studying technology is in decline—today only 18 percent of computer science majors are women, compared to 37 percent in the mid-1980s. Add in a continued wage imbalance and a high turnover rate for female tech professionals mid-career and it is clear that there is work to be done. How can we encourage more women to join the technology field and insurance technology in particular? What can be done to break down the barriers to success as a female technology professional?

Luciano Vilas Boas presented on data science and decision making. He discussed key topics such as what data science is, the role of data scientists, big data, and challenges in becoming a data-driven organization. He emphasized that data science involves finding patterns in raw data to solve business problems and support data-driven decision making. Becoming truly data-driven requires overcoming roadblocks like a lack of data literacy and changing organizational culture to value data-driven philosophy. Cognitive biases can negatively impact decision making, so data science aims to reduce bias and improve decisions through evidence-based insights.

Independent Study - College of Wooster Research (2023-2024) FDI, Culture, Glo...AntoniaOwensDetwiler
"Does Foreign Direct Investment Negatively Affect Preservation of Culture in the Global South? Case Studies in Thailand and Cambodia."
Do elements of globalization, such as Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), negatively affect the ability of countries in the Global South to preserve their culture? This research aims to answer this question by employing a cross-sectional comparative case study analysis utilizing methods of difference. Thailand and Cambodia are compared as they are in the same region and have a similar culture. The metric of difference between Thailand and Cambodia is their ability to preserve their culture. This ability is operationalized by their respective attitudes towards FDI; Thailand imposes stringent regulations and limitations on FDI while Cambodia does not hesitate to accept most FDI and imposes fewer limitations. The evidence from this study suggests that FDI from globally influential countries with high gross domestic products (GDPs) (e.g. China, U.S.) challenges the ability of countries with lower GDPs (e.g. Cambodia) to protect their culture. Furthermore, the ability, or lack thereof, of the receiving countries to protect their culture is amplified by the existence and implementation of restrictive FDI policies imposed by their governments.
My study abroad in Bali, Indonesia, inspired this research topic as I noticed how globalization is changing the culture of its people. I learned their language and way of life which helped me understand the beauty and importance of cultural preservation. I believe we could all benefit from learning new perspectives as they could help us ideate solutions to contemporary issues and empathize with others.

In a tight labour market, job-seekers gain bargaining power and leverage it into greater job quality—at least, that’s the conventional wisdom.
Michael, LMIC Economist, presented findings that reveal a weakened relationship between labour market tightness and job quality indicators following the pandemic. Labour market tightness coincided with growth in real wages for only a portion of workers: those in low-wage jobs requiring little education. Several factors—including labour market composition, worker and employer behaviour, and labour market practices—have contributed to the absence of worker benefits. These will be investigated further in future work.
