• The passive voice is used when we say what
happens to people and things.
3. Form of the passive voice.
• When used the passive voice we need the verb to be and pas
participle of the main verb.
• The verb to be write them in the same tenses that the verb in
the active.
• Present simple: eat/s ----- am/is/are eaten
• Past simple: ate ----- was/were eaten
• Present perfect: Have/has eaten----- Have/has been eaten
• Past perfect: had eaten----- had been eaten
• Future with will: will eat---Will be eaten
• Going to: going to eat-----am/is/are going to be eaten
• Can: can eat----- can be eaten
• Must: must eat-----must be eat
• Should: Should eat----- Should be eaten
4. Active to passive transformation
• The rule general.
• In the active the object becomes the subject of the
passive and subject of the active becomes in the
object.
• We have two form the passive voice.
• 1possibility: In the active the indirect object becomes
the subject of the passive
• 2 possibility: In the active the direct object becomes
the subject of the passive.
• When we have in a sentence indirect and direct object
the form more usual is indirect object and the lass
usual is direct object.

• Active: The dog ate the meat in the garden.
• Passive: The meat was eaten by the dog.
• Active: He writes a letter.
• Passive: A letter is written by him.
• Active: They had gone in bus the swimming pool.
• Passive: In bus had been gone they the swimming pool.
• Active: I to go the shopping in Christmas with my mother.
• Passive: In Christmas is gone shopping with my mother.
• Active: He had run the Saturday night.
• Passive: The Saturday had been run by the night he.
