The automotive industry is a major industry in Ontario, employing over 130,000 people and representing 20% of the province's manufacturing output. Ontario produces over 2.4 million vehicles annually, more than any other Canadian province. The industry also supports an additional 89,000 jobs in related sectors like steel and plastics manufacturing. The Ontario government has invested $500 million through the Ontario Automotive Investment Strategy to make the industry more competitive and support advanced skills training and new technologies.
