Preface
What you have in your hands is a treasure house of songs. It is an extensive compilation of songs in praise of
Agathiyar and the Siddhas.
When I was asked to come to the path of the Siddhas and to worship them by Agathiyar in my very first Nadi
reading in 2002, I was given a small booklet containing a long list of Siddha names compiled by the Sri
Agathiyar Sanmarga Sangam, Turaiyur, by the Nadi Guru Sentilkumar of Avinashi. I reached out to the local
chapter of the Sangam in the hope of obtaining more information about the Siddhas. When I was at their main
centre at Turaiyur, I purchased more books and literature. When I met Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal I received
yet another compilation of Siddha names and other songs. Browsing through the book shops, I laid my eyes on
more books on Siddhas. I adopted all these songs in my daily prayer to Agathiyar and the Siddhas. As they were
dispersed in numerous books, I began compiling them into several handy publications for the numerous
occasions where we conducted Siddha prayers. Finally I compiled a compendium of songs, and together with
the above mentioned, I uploaded them to Scribd many years ago. Along the way the number of songs that I
received by the grace of the Siddhas, increased. Hence this is an updated and revised edition of the Complete
Book of Praise to Agathiyar and the Siddhas.
I thank all the relevent authors and publishers and other sources of these amazing songs.

Preface to the First Edition
I was introduced to the Siddha Margam when I went to read the Kaanda Nadi in 2002. Nadi Guru
Senthilkumar from Avinasi was in Malaysia then. He passed by a small booklet SIDHARGAL POTRI
THOGUPPU by the Sri Agathiyar Sanmarga Sangam, Turaiyur - 2001, carrying all the names of the Sidhas.
Sivabalan who had brought in Sentilkumar gave me a painting of Agathiyar at the same moment. Sentilkumar
performed the prayer to Agathiyar and the Sidhas and started me off on a journey of sheer amazement.
My first venture into and attempt at writing was when I compiled the Siddha hymns that I had been singing
during prayers into a book of praise to Siddhas, SIDHARGAL POTRI THOGUPPU. The hymns were from
various sources: Thavathiru Rangaraja Desigar1
(of the Sri Agathiyar Sanmaarga Sangam, Ongarakudil, Turaiyur,
Tamilnadu, India); Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigalaar2
(of the Sri Agathiyar Sri Thava Murugar Gnana Peedham
Thirukovil in Kallar, Kovai, Tamilnadu, India); and other publishers and publications. As I came across more
hymns I included them too and the volume later expanded to become AGATHIYAR PUSAI or THE
COMPLETE BOOK OF PRAISE TO AGATHIYAR that you now hold in your hands.
This compilation of hymns in Tamil and with transliteration in English is targeted for the non-tamil speaking
devotees so that they too can participate and join in singing the praise of the Siddhas by following the
transliteration given and partake the bliss that is derived in singing praises to Agathiyar and the Siddhas.
These hymns are applicable to other deities too with the mere replacement of their names or Namam as I have
done in certain hymns (the substitute names are in brackets).

Acknowledgement
It has been a mere thirteen years since I came to the path of the Siddhas. I consider myself still new to this path
and still investigating it. It has been a wonderful journey though these past years.
I am grateful to the following people who had directly or indirectly helped me on this journey of sheer
amazement.
My father, the late Avadaiyappa Chettiar and mother, Valliammai and my siblings;
My wife and children:
Kannan of Kelana Computer Service Center in Klang, Malaysia for passing me the Sakti Font that has
made it possible for me to type in Tamil;
Dr Krishnan, friend, Siddha practitioner and astrologer who made me aware of the existence of the
Nadi;
My colleague Muralitharan Saminathan who spoke about his experience reading the Nadi and pointed
me to the late Sivabalan;
Sivabalan of the Agathiyan Shelter in Malaysia who had brought in the Nadi Guru Sentilkumar from
India;
Nadi Guru Sentilkumar of Avinasi who spent much time in locating my relevant nadi and who started
me off on the path of the Siddha with prayers to the Siddhas;
Nadi Guru T. Ramesh of the Sri Agastiar Sugar Nadi Jothida Nilaiyam who has faithfully been
delivering Agathiyar’s message for me fifty three times to date;
Thavathiru Rangaraja Desiga Swamigal of the Agathiyar Sanmarga Sangam at Ongkarakudil, in
Turaiyur, Tamilnadu. He was the first one who came to my mind when Agathiyar asked me to come to
his fold, hence seeking out his local Malaysian branch of the Sangam for literature on the Siddhas.
Supramania Swami of Thiruvanamalai, my very first guru, who revealed my mission and began working
on me;
Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal of the Sri Agathiyar Sri Thava Murugar Gnana Peedham Thirukovil in
Kallar who took me in as a disciple and molded me further;
To all fellows seekers at Agathiyar Vanam Malaysia (AVM) and Thondu Seivom (TS) who had rendered
their services to Agathiyar without fail; and inspiring me with their multifold talents at composing
beautiful hymns and for rendering them during the prayers at AVM; taking on the role of spokesperson
for AVM and bringing in materials, information and video footages from all around the globe that
helped sustain and kept going my blog Siddha Heartbeat;
And finally to the almighty Erai who choose to shower his grace on this person and send his
missionaries – Agathiyar, Ramalinga Adigal, Jeganatha Swamigal and the Sidhas, to save him from
plunging further into ignorance; giving him a chance to redeem himself back to the kingdom of Erai
through these minute services or seva.
I would also like to thank all the authors and publishers from whose works I have sourced and put together this
compilation.
