The Italian Mafia
 The  Origin of the Mafia was believed to
  have originated in the early 19th century in
  Sicily, Italy.
 Organized Crime has existed in Italy for
  over 100 years.
 The Mafia is a association of criminal
  groups that share a common
  organizational structure.
Who they are
   Group or family of organized crime from Sicilian
    descent.
   A “made” man is someone who has been officially
    inducted into the mob.
   In order to be made you have to be a male full
    Sicilian descent.
   In every mafia there is hierarchy and a “boss”, the
    higher ranking members make the decisions and
    get the commission.
   All the dirty work is done by the “soldiers.” which
    are the lowest ranks among made men.
What they do
 The  Mafia has controlled everything from
  the street corner drug trade to the highest
  levels of government.
 They control everything you can think of
  like said even levels of the government.
 Known for smuggling drugs and
  prostitution.
 All they care about doing is making
  money $$.
The Mafia starts in America
   Italian immigrants from Sicily emerged in New
    Yorks lower East Side and other areas of the
    east coast in the late 19th century.
   Mafia also known as Cosa Nostra.
   The American Mafia is involved in many
    criminal activities with the Sicilian Mafia, but
    they are there own. They are not the same as
    the Sicilian Mafia, or Italian Mafia.
   There are 4 main groups active in The united
    States, with over 25000 members each.
Big Shot Mafia Leaders
   There are quite a few very well known mafia leaders, such
    as, Al Capone, The Gambino Family, Lucky Luciano, Albert
    Anastasia and Johnny Torrio.
   The Gambino family is one of 5 families that dominates
    organized crime in NYC.
   Lucky Luciano was known for reinventing the mafia in
    America, and is considered the “father of organized crime. "He
    split NYC into 5 different Mafia crime families.

   Johnny Torrio “The Fox” was an Italian-American
    mobster who helped build the criminal empire known
    as the Chicago Outfit in the 1920s, which was then
    inherited by his Protégé Al Capone.
   Al Capone is Americas best known gangster from
    Chicago in the 1920s. Capone was dedicated to
    smuggling drugs, bootlegging liquor and prostitution.
   He got his nick name “Scarface” from receiving his
    scars after being attacked by a patrons brother.
   Albert Anastasia who is the chief executioner of
    murder, Inc., fled to America between 1917&1920
    and found himself wanting to work for one of the
    most important mafia families in the country,
    because of his passion for killing.

 There   were multiple movies made that
  reflected on the mafia immensely and are
  still very popular today some of them are:
 The Godfather I&II
 American Gangster
 Goodfellas
 The Untouchables
 Scarface
Conclusion
 The Mafia is a world wide known
  organized crime that has interesting past
  and the most known leaders of all time.
 They are responsible for at least 50% of
  crime that goes on today along with
  gangs.
