PSIKOLOGI KAUNSELING teori tingkah laku kognitif dalam kaunselingAmin Upsi
Therapy is seen as an educational process where clients learn to identify and dispute their irrational beliefs, replace ineffective thinking with rational cognitions, and stop absolutistic thinking and blaming. The main goals are helping clients achieve unconditional self-acceptance and acceptance of others. Therapists play an active role by encouraging clients to discover their irrational beliefs, modeling rational thinking, and using techniques like cognitive restructuring to change dysfunctional emotions and behaviors.

Person-centered theory is a humanistic approach to counseling that was founded by Carl Rogers. It emphasizes the therapeutic relationship and believes that people have an innate tendency towards self-actualization. The major roles of the counselor are to create an atmosphere of genuineness, unconditional positive regard, and empathic understanding. The client's role is to openly express their thoughts and feelings in the present moment. Gestalt therapy, founded by Fritz Perls, focuses on experiencing thoughts and feelings in the present. It believes that people often fragment their lives and that healthy behavior occurs when people act as total organisms in the moment.

Albert Ellis (1913-2007) was an American psychologist who developed Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). He had a difficult childhood, suffering from numerous health issues and an unstable family life after his parents' divorce when he was 12. These experiences influenced his interest in psychotherapy. After earning degrees in business administration and psychology, Ellis began advocating a direct, active form of psychotherapy called Rational Therapy in 1953. REBT helps clients identify and dispute irrational beliefs that lead to dysfunctional emotions and behaviors, replacing them with more rational and adaptive beliefs. Ellis authored over 80 books popularizing REBT for conditions like depression, anger, anxiety, and relationship issues. He is considered one of the founders of cognitive behavioral therapy.
This is a presentation regarding Albert Ellis' REBT. Ellis' model teaches us to dispute irrational beliefs and replace them with rational ones to experience effective change.
Alfred Adler developed Individual Psychology which focused on understanding human behavior through examining goals, lifestyle, birth order, and social interest. Key concepts in Adlerian theory include inferiority, superiority, social interest, family constellation, and basic mistakes. Adlerian therapy uses techniques like lifestyle analysis, interpretation, encouragement, and paradoxical intention to help clients develop social interest and change maladaptive behaviors.

1. Freudian psychoanalytic theory proposes that human behavior and personality are determined by dynamics of the unconscious mind and early childhood experiences. It focuses on the id, ego, and superego, and defense mechanisms used to reduce anxiety.
2. Alfred Adler expanded on psychoanalysis with his individual psychology theory, prioritizing social interest and relationships. He believed people develop an inferiority complex and mistaken views of themselves and the world.
3. Both theories use psychotherapy approaches. Psychoanalysis aims to make the unconscious conscious through free association and interpretation. Adlerian therapy addresses lifestyle goals and encourages social interest through a collaborative relationship.
Transactional analysis is a personality theory developed by Eric Berne that views a person as comprising three ego states - Parent, Adult, and Child. Berne proposed that people communicate through transactions between their ego states, and that unhealthy interactions can take the form of crossed transactions. He also introduced the concepts of life scripts, existential positions, strokes, games, and contracts to understand interpersonal relationships and facilitate change. Transactional analysis was influenced by Freud's psychoanalysis but focuses more on observable behaviors and interactions between people.
The Gestalt Theory proposes that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. It focuses on studying phenomenological experience as a whole rather than its individual parts. According to Gestalt psychologists, our perception organizes sensory elements into meaningful wholes or "Gestalten" based on principles like proximity, similarity, closure and figure-ground perception. This holistic approach to learning across subjects aims to make concepts more coherent and meaningful for learners.
Psychoanalytic theory was founded by Sigmund Freud and focuses on the unconscious mind. It views humans as being motivated by unconscious desires, especially sexual and aggressive urges. Freud believed the mind is divided into the id, ego, and superego. Therapy involves free association, dream analysis, and analysis of transference to help clients gain insight into unconscious conflicts.
The document discusses positive psychology and coaching for happiness. It defines positive psychology as focusing on human strengths and optimal functioning. Overview
Counseling professionals from different specializations frequently need to work together to provide effective services to students, families, and individual clients. This assignment asks you to address this need in two parts, using what you have learned in this course so far. In Part 1, focus on theory and concepts, creating your own description and evaluation of your specialization, based on the historical and philosophical development of the counseling profession. In Part 2, apply these ideas to a particular case situation, focusing on how a professional in your specialization might collaborate with professionals in other specializations to help meet the needs of the client.
Directions
Part 1
Evaluate the role of your specialization within the field of counseling, beginning with your own description of the field itself, including both the history and the philosophies involved, explaining where your specialization fits, and describing how your specialization might collaborate with one other specialization that you describe. Cite the articles or other sources you use for the basis of your ideas.
In this part, specifically address the following questions:
·
How would you describe the key philosophies of the counseling profession: wellness, resilience, and prevention? Choose a wellness model, and explain how that model impacts the way in which counselors view clients and the concerns brought to counseling, including the kinds of information counselors need to have about their clients.
·
How have those key philosophies developed? Provide a brief historical perspective of the counseling profession focused on the key philosophies of wellness, resilience, and prevention. Include the beliefs and assumptions that support those philosophies.
·
How did your specialization develop? Identify your preferred counseling specialization and describe how the specialization emerged or the profession developed, including the key ideas on which it is based.
·
What other counseling specialization works well in collaboration with your specialization? Briefly explain the history of how this other specialization developed, highlighting the ways in which it complements yours.

4 Basic Rapport Building, Goal Setting, and ImplementationCHAPTER OBJECTIVES
After reading this chapter, you will be able to:
· 1. Understand the importance of the therapeutic alliance.
· 2. Know the different skills necessary for the formation of a positive therapeutic alliance (practical and interpersonal).
· 3. Understand the need for problem identification.
· 4. Identify various types of coping techniques.
· 5. Be familiar with the process of goal setting and implementation as well as the termination of the counseling relationship.PART ONE: THE THERAPEUTIC ALLIANCE
According to various researches, the therapeutic alliance is one of the most powerful constructs, within a counseling relationship, able to produce positive changes in behavior and cognition. It is important to understand that the therapeutic alliance is largely an intellectual concept that describes both practical and interpersonal skills. And, one of the problems with intellectual concepts is that they can often be difficult to define. In fact, a working definition of a therapeutic alliance for one counselor may be wholly different from the definition provided by another counselor. This is because the therapeutic alliance is as much subjective as objective, or as much art as science.
Generally, the therapeutic alliance is a concept that describes the process of counselors and offenders collaboratively identifying goals and tasks to be accomplished within the counseling relationship. The most important component of this relationship, however, is the degree to which counselors and offenders are able to establish an interpersonal bond through which much of the healing and corrective action takes place. Bordin (1979) describes the therapeutic alliance as the vehicle through which psychotherapies are effective. In essence, it is not so much the counseling modality that is important, but rather the degree to which counselors and offenders are able to establish an affective bond that produces the necessary trust that fosters an environment in which an offender is willing to psychologically and emotionally expose himself or herself in order to heal.
Offenders are more likely to respond positively to counseling when counselors are able to consistently portray themselves as nurturing and understanding allies. A number of studies have found that the therapeutic alliance is directly related to such outcomes as whether or not a person will continue counseling (CSAT, 2005). Petry and Bickel (1999) found that among clients with moderate to severe psychiatric problems, less than 25% of those reporting weak therapeutic alliances completed treatment. Obviously, this is an important point, largely because it is unlikely that offenders will undergo substantive change without structured and professionally delivered services aimed at reconfiguring cognitive and behavioral responses to certain stimuli likely to produce criminal behavior. Green (2004) provides additional support by stating he beli.

5. The Islamic psychospiritual counselling theory is a newly
founded theory to fill the empty gaps present in previous
theories which mostly came from the west
The development of theories founded on the basis of
psychospiritual has attracted many researchers to publish
works such as Psikologi Ummatik (1989), Islamic
Psyhcospiritual (Badri, 2000), kognitif Ad-Din (Othman,
2009)
The Islamic psychospiritual counseling theory considers
numerous aspects such as the creation of man, objectives of
counseling, and the techniques that can contribute to the to
stability of humanity
The Islamic psychospiritual counselling theory uses
methods founded on the base of Quranic verses, Kalam Al-
Khaliq (the Creator)

Al-amr bi al-ma’ruf wa
nahy ‘an-al-mungkar

goodness
Al-sabr wa al-syukr Guidance is bringing or hording man
towards the objectives of life as it is
bestowed upon us, his beloved creation
Al-halal wa al-haram It should lead mankind towards goodness
(advise a cruel ruler) if he is not syariah
compliance
7. A method that leads, teaches or shows how to
achieve an objective or a positive outcome
guided by the syariah of Islam
This method focuses on the human spiritual
aspects that covers al-ruh, al-’aql, al-nafs and
al-qalb.
It covers the al-nafs ma’rifah and al-nafs
tazkiyah that will solve problems in daily
human life. Moreover it will bring happiness
and ensure the well being of humanity in this
life and the hereafter

humans can be judged in detail through six
dimensions
View of Human Nature (Source: Hassan, 2001, 2008)
10. • To develop nafs (psycho-spiritual development)
• There are three levels of ‘nafs’
11. Sincere in every commandment given to us by Allah SWT and the

There are three ways:-
1. Takhali (expel)
Expel all the negativity in the heart (madzmumah)
2. Tahalli (fill)
Fill your cleansed heart with admirable characteristics (mahmudah)
3. Tajalli (feel)
After the heart has been revitalised, one would feel the peace and
harmony (sweetness of iman)
12. Upholds towards goodness (amar ma’ruf wa nahy munkar) and detest
evil doings and reconstructs society( Islah bayna al-nas)
Hisbah Tenet
• Muhtasib (counsellor)

I. Nasihat (involves a two way communication)
II. Tazkirah (always remind each other)
III. Irsyad (give guidance towards the truth)

19. In a research done to counsellors at the ‘Pusat Kaunseling Majlis Agama Islam Negeri
Sembilan (PKMAINS) discovered that, the assimilation of the spiritual elements in
counselling can raise the effectiveness of counselling
This data was collected by Salasiah Hanin Hamjah(2016) when she researched on
nine counsellors from PK MAINS for her doctorate degree
The conclusion of the research founded that all nine counsellor agree that assimilating
spiritual elements can help the clients to face the life problem more calmly and wisely
An example of the findings on counsellor no 8:
…for me, I strongly agree with the statement because in counselling session we tend to
emphasize on the good virtues. So, the client cannot deny, he can only accept the
changeable and unchangeable fate from Allah, these virtues such as patience,
thankfulness is a vital element to help the client solve their issue…
20. As a conclusion, the Islamic psychospiritual theory
approach is suitable to be used to assist Islamic
families counselling sessions using Islamic concepts
which is definite. But this theory also has its own
limitation
