The World Wide Web (WWW or simply, the Web) refers to the collection of information that is accessible on the Internet. The information is in the form of text, pictures, and sound, which are arranged logically and stored on computers known as Web servers. The Web is a very popular service on the Internet. Many people use the terms the Web and the Internet synonymously, but they are technically two different terms. The Internet connects multiple computers and forms a network on which a computer can communicate with another.

A 27 de Novembro de 2005, o jornal Público apresentou, juntamente com a sua edição de domingo, o caderno “Profissão Cientista: Retrato de uma geração em trânsito”. O trabalho desenvolvido pela equipa da Viver a Ciência destacou o retrato de 14 jovens cientistas portugueses em início de carreira (até aos 40 anos), tendo sido distribuído gratuitamente pelo diário, numa escala de tiragem na ordem dos 80 mil exemplares.
O "Profissão: Cientista" surgiu da vontade dos cientistas comunicarem o que fazem, indo para além dos seus Laboratórios e Institutos. Nele revelam-se trabalhos de grande genialidade, mas pouco conhecidos do público em geral. Trabalhos com impacto no nosso dia-a-dia e trabalhos muito promissores, que geram grandes expectativas futuras. Por todas estas razões e mais algumas, colocam Portugal no mapa de uma ciência competitiva e de qualidade, a qual não deixa, nem poderá deixar de ser, cada vez mais internacional. Os cientistas - os homens e mulheres desta geração que está, por natureza em trânsito – estão cá, por vezes lá, saltitando entre laboratórios, projectos, temas e bolsas. São pessoas comuns, curiosas, interessantes e interessadas, viajadas, lutadoras, que acreditam e trabalham.
O "Profissão: Cientista" revela trabalhos de grande genialidade, mas pouco conhecidos do público em geral, apresentando-os numa linguagem acessível a todos. As temáticas vão desde a conservação da natureza à evolução do Universo e aos mecanismos da memória. Das moscas “telecomandadas” à utilização da matemática na luta contra doenças infecciosas, passando pela explicação para o facto de Vénus girar “ao contrário". Fála-se das partículas mais elementares que “surfam” o plasma, dos embriões de galinha que nos ensinam sobre o nosso próprio desenvolvimento, dos segredos da divisão celular e da evolução genética oculta nos padrões das asas das borboletas.

Most likely, you are already familiar with popular Web 2.0 applications such as Facebook or Wikipedia.
Web 2.0 introduces unprecedented ways to connect to friends, share knowledge with your colleagues, or collaborate with a team of engineers 5,000 miles away, and many of today’s companies cannot afford to miss this trend.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
