This document provides lesson objectives and instructions for a class on the information age and digital divide. 3. All will be able to give an explanation with examples as to why this era may
be called the information age inclusive of the positive and negatives aspects
of it and give a simple explanation of what the digital divide is with
examples.
Most will be able define the phase ‘Digital Divide’ discuss it. Including how
the internet affects us all, inclusive of the services it provides; displaying an
acknowledgment that both our effects professional and personally – E-
Putation (who are you on line?)
Some will be able to investigate why some of us are ‘technology enables’
while other are not, closely analysing the reasoning behind this from a
digital divide standpoint and evaluate wither they are gaps between the
‘haves’ and ‘have-nots’.

10. The term 'digital divide' describes the fact that the world
can be divided into people who do and people who don't
have access to - and the capability to use - modern
information technology, such as the
telephone, television, or the Internet.
The digital divide exists between those in cities and those
in rural areas. For example, a 1999 study showed that 86%
of Internet delivery was to the 20 largest cities.
The digital divide also exists between the educated and the
uneducated, between economic
classes, and, globally, between the more and less
industrially developed nations.
