These efforts resulted in national attention in 2010 with the publication of the first-ever correlation between implementation of computerized physician order entry (CPOE) and a decrease in hospital-wide mortality. This landmark was followed in 2011 with a paper in the NEJM describing the first documented use of aggregate EMR data to make a real-time patient care decision. However, challenges include the time it takes and engaging reluctant patients. Technology has become very useful in many sectors. In the health care industry, it has
changed the way health care services are provided. It turns out to be a critical tool for
competition in the health care market. Quality has now been at the forefront when it comes to
shaping any health care program (Feenberg, 2012). This makes health care institutions to strive
and produces better services to its customers.
A look at surgical procedures together with state of the art proper care method, an
important position from the infirmary is represented by the technology. Compared to the past,
health care institutions have now been successful when it comes to performing a number of
lifetime harmful and critical surgical procedures (Mali, 2012). All these are attributed to
advanced models to be used in surgeries brought about by technology. There is much equipment
that has been brought about by technology advancement including 3D echocardiogram and CT
reconstruction. These two have made surgery more efficient by improving imaging capabilities
which enable surgeons to operate without hindrances on the human body (Raza, Sabik, Masabni,
Ainkaran, Lytle, W. B., & Blackstone, 2014). Healthcare services have improved too, by the
introduction of robotic surgery and teleconferencing. The latter has enabled doctors to provide
knowledge and expertise far and wide irrespective of their physical location. They can monitor,
track and communicate with their patients to help them keeping tabs on their ailments (Raza, et
al., 2014). Robotic surgery helps doctors conduct surgery remotely with the use of a machine that
can multitask and overcome some of the limitations a human doctor may have. This improves the
likelihood of an operation to be successful which benefits both the physician and the patient.
Additionally, there are Pc Served Medical procedures together with CAS, which have
been termed as computer or laptop well guided medical procedures. Most surgeons, especially
cosmetic surgeons rely on these procedures in some surgery activities on various subjects, such

Case Study "Using Big Data to Shift from Evidence-based Practice to Practice-based Evidence"
Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford has been on a journey towards a comprehensive electronic medical record (EMR) since 2004. These efforts resulted in national attention in 2010 with the publication of the first-ever correlation between implementation of computerized physician order entry (CPOE) and a decrease in hospital-wide mortality. This landmark was followed in 2011 with a paper in the NEJM describing the first documented use of aggregate EMR data to make a real-time patient care decision. In this talk, Dr. Chris Longhurst will share the "story behind the story" of these accomplishments and highlight opportunities for using applied clinical informatics to improve the value of healthcare we deliver to our patients.Ned - Innovative Technology for Prostate Cancer Patients

Ned was conceptualized and co-founded by our webinar presenter: Dr. Andrew Feifer, a Urologic Surgical Oncologist at Trillium Health Centre in Toronto. Dr. Feifer evisioned a tool that would empower prostate cancer survivors by putting their health into their own hands and giving them more options to manage their own care.

Bedside reporting
Bedside reporting involves including the patient in shift change reports between nurses. It has benefits like increased patient empowerment and safety due to improved communication of the patient's status and care plan. Implementing bedside reporting has shown positive results like higher patient and staff satisfaction, improved accuracy of information, and encouragement of teamwork. However, challenges include the time it takes and engaging reluctant patients. Studies have found that encouraging patient participation, using plain language, and allowing more time can help address these challenges.

Technology has become very useful in many sectors. In the health care industry, it has
changed the way health care services are provided. It turns out to be a critical tool for
competition in the health care market. Quality has now been at the forefront when it comes to
shaping any health care program (Feenberg, 2012). This makes health care institutions to strive
and produces better services to its customers.
A look at surgical procedures together with state of the art proper care method, an
important position from the infirmary is represented by the technology. Compared to the past,
health care institutions have now been successful when it comes to performing a number of
lifetime harmful and critical surgical procedures (Mali, 2012). All these are attributed to
advanced models to be used in surgeries brought about by technology. There is much equipment
that has been brought about by technology advancement including 3D echocardiogram and CT
reconstruction. These two have made surgery more efficient by improving imaging capabilities
which enable surgeons to operate without hindrances on the human body (Raza, Sabik, Masabni,
Ainkaran, Lytle, W. B., & Blackstone, 2014). Healthcare services have improved too, by the
introduction of robotic surgery and teleconferencing. The latter has enabled doctors to provide
knowledge and expertise far and wide irrespective of their physical location. They can monitor,
track and communicate with their patients to help them keeping tabs on their ailments (Raza, et
al., 2014). Robotic surgery helps doctors conduct surgery remotely with the use of a machine that
can multitask and overcome some of the limitations a human doctor may have. This improves the
likelihood of an operation to be successful which benefits both the physician and the patient.
Additionally, there are Pc Served Medical procedures together with CAS, which have
been termed as computer or laptop well guided medical procedures. Most surgeons, especially
cosmetic surgeons rely on these procedures in some surgery activities on various subjects, such

New practice approaches
An experience with new technology and better ways of dealing with burn cases, treatment is quite fast and easy! Unlike the traditional way of airway maintenance, the new way that follows the ATLS guidelines enables the nurse to have a definitive airway maintenance as well as ventilation monitoring.
Extraprofessional collaboration
The burn unit required a great deal of collaboration between different medical practitioners in order to achieve quick recovery and optimum treatment results. With the airway and c-spine protection, monitoring the heart rate and blood pressure would require different physicians to acquire optimum results.
Health care delivery and clinical systems
With the Airway with C-spine Protection, different procedures and systems collaborate together to produce the best treatment results. Assessment of breathing, circulation, disability and exposure worked well with the clinical system each stage was important in contributing to the greater good.
Ethical considerations in health care
When it comes to Airway with C-spine Protection, Improving access to care, Protecting patient privacy and confidentiality are paramount. Building and maintaining strong health care workforce, Marketing practices and Care quality helps the unit achieve quality care.

At the burn unit, it is almost blatant that leaders are responsible and are economical in their decision making. This is evident by the efficient allocation of resources.

Different patients come with different conditions. However, it is the function of the nurses to do all they can to ensure that their patients get well.

The Whole System Demonstrator programme evaluated the use of telehealth and telecare to improve care for people with long-term conditions. It was the largest randomized controlled trial of telehealth/telecare in the world, involving over 6,000 people across several sites in the UK. The results showed that technology can help manage long-term conditions when integrated into redesigned care systems and combined with clinical engagement. However, successful implementation requires addressing organizational challenges, building trust with patients, and focusing on more than just introducing new devices. The findings support telehealth/telecare as part of improving care for the growing number of people with long-term conditions.

These drugs competitively antagonize actions of
histamine at the H1 receptors.
Pharmacological actions-
Antagonism of histamine-The H1 antagonists effectively block histamine induced bronchoconstriction, contraction of intestinal and other smooth muscle and triple response especially wheal, flare and itch. Constriction of larger blood vessel by histamine is also antagonized.
2) Antiallergic actions-Many manifestations of immediate hypersensitivity (type I reactions)are suppressed. Urticaria, itching and angioedema are well controlled.3) CNS action-The older antihistamines produce variable degree of CNS depression.But in case of 2nd gen antihistaminics there is less CNS depressant property as these cross BBB to significantly lesser extent.
4) Anticholinergic action- many H1 blockers
in addition antagonize muscarinic actions of ACh. BUT IN 2ND gen histaminics there is Higher H1 selectivitiy : no anticholinergic side effects

Pharmacology of Prostaglandins, Thromboxanes and Leukotrienes
This presentation gives information on the pharmacology of Prostaglandins, Thromboxanes and Leukotrienes i.e. Eicosanoids. Eicosanoids are signaling molecules derived from polyunsaturated fatty acids like arachidonic acid. They are involved in complex control over inflammation, immunity, and the central nervous system. Eicosanoids are synthesized through the enzymatic oxidation of fatty acids by cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase enzymes. They have short half-lives and act locally through autocrine and paracrine signaling.
