 "The Tata Megapixel, developed by our
design centers in India, the UK and Italy, is
our idea of a city car for discerning
motorists in any megacity of the world,"
said Prakash Telang, managing director of
Tata's India Operations.
 It "also denotes the company's future design
direction," he added.
 The four - seater that the company describes
as a "smart global range extended electric
vehicle" combines a lithium ion phosphate
battery and an on-board petrol engine
generator for recharging on the move.

22.  Tata, which reported $27 billion of revenues
for 2010-11, said the vehicle runs for 100
kilometers on just one litre of fuel.
 The group's officials did not reveal the target
price for the vehicle, but if it is low, it could
be a serious competitor in the green car
sector which has been dominated by
Toyota's Prius.
 Dieter Zetsche, chairman of Daimler AG, said
carmakers are now investing large sums in
designing cars that produce lower gas
emissions, amid a global move to go green.

23.  Susan Doherty, president and managing director of
Chevrolet Europe, said that, “"electricity is the way
go in the future."
 A tightening of legislation restricting the amount of
greenhouse gas emissions from trucks and cars led
car manufacturers to develop new tyres that help
decrease carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, the Fox
News reported Saturday.
 Most of these tyres reduce their carbon footprint by
making lighter contact with the road, reducing the
amount of resistance and therefore necessitating
less gasoline to push the vehicle forward.
 In dire situations, the eco-friendly tyres may role on
for a longer time after the brake pedal is pushed
than traditional tyres, the report said.

SAY???
On the basis of the Global Survey: Is 'Green' Set To Drive
The Car Industry? conducted by Synovate the
following results were obtained –
 Is green mainstream? Can the lure of the
environmentally friendly vehicle outweigh the desire
for all the raw power of the petrol engine? Synovate
asked respondents to forget about money for a moment
and tell us whether they would buy green, dream or in
between.
 The top answer across all 18 markets, if money were
no object, was to buy a green car, with 37% of
respondents saying this would be their preferred
purchase.

25.  Thirty-one percent said they would buy
their dream car and a further 22%
claimed that 'my dream car is a green
car'... meaning that 59% - or very
nearly six in ten - showed the desire to
go green.
 "Car makers are producing more and
more options that will appeal to this
fast-growing group of green-inclined
people," says Synovate's CEO of
Motorsesearch, Scott Miller.

“Plug-In” hybrid which can travel up to 40 miles on electricity
with it’s rechargeable battery
• Eventually the cost improved performance and reducing size
and weight of fuel cell obstacles will be overcome, providing

for vehicles
