THE GMO
(Genetically
Modified
Organism)
               by L.M
Definition
 Refersto plants and animals with an
 altered genetic make-up. GMOs are
generally altered or manipulated by non-
natural means in order to incorporate
 genes from another organism. Usually
genetic engineering (GE) is done to
achieve a trait not normally present in an
organism, such as longer shelf life, disease
resistance or different colors or flavors.
Why the subject GMO?
A topical issue
September 2012 : French scientists revealed that rats
fed on GMO corn sold by American firm
Monsanto, suffered tumors and other complications.
Why the subject GMO?
 And also an old controversy
- Health diseases
- An impact on the environment
- Economic problems

=> To have an idea about what the GMO
really are.

What I’m going to present is
