1) This document contains the full text of Paul's letter to Philemon concerning Philemon's slave Onesimus.
2) Paul appeals to Philemon to accept Onesimus back not as a slave but as a brother, since Onesimus was converted while imprisoned with Paul.
3) Paul expresses confidence that Philemon will receive Onesimus in a spirit of Christian love and forgiveness.
What is the real message of this little one chapter book? it is the story of forgiveness - Philemon had to forgive Philemon to receive him back. it is a story of reconciliation - restoring a relationship that had been lost. And it is a story of a changed relationship - from slave to brother; from master to brother!
The "little" book of Philemon is "huge" in teaching! When Paul wrote to Philemon he had an important message to send but he needed a way to reach a man like Philemon. In this message we dissect Paul's way of reaching Philemon with the truth of forgiveness, reconciliation and changed relationships.
Philippians 4:1-9 is some of the most beautiful of Paul's writings. Paul begins with an exhortation to put aside our petty differences and work together in the Kingdom of God. He encourages them to not be anxious but have a peace of mind that surpasses human understanding. His prayer is that all of the church would meditate on things honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent and worthy of praise!

GOD’s MYSTERIOUS PLAN IS REVEALED
This message was kept secret for centuries and generations past, but now this message has been revealed to God’s people. For God wanted His people to know that
the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too.
And this is the secret:
Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing His glory. God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ Himself. In Him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Choosing the Life of Joy_Joy in Setting a Shining ExampleStephen Palm
In this text in Philippians 2:12-18, Paul encourages us to "work out" our salvation with fear and trembling. It seems at odds with much of his teaching on salvation by grace alone through faith alone. However, as we dig further we see that God "works in" our salvation. Our "working out" is our expression of gratitude and joy for what God has already done. In this sermon, we are challenged to live a shining example of joy and faith. We are also challenged to avoid the greatest sin that bushels our light... a grumbling complaining spirit. Part of choosing the life of joy entails removing that bushel and allowing the light of Christ's joy to shine through us.

The Epistle to Philemon is one of the books of the Christian New Testament. It is a prison letter, authored by Paul the Apostle (the opening verse also mentions Timothy), to Philemon, a leader in the Colossian church. It deals with the themes of forgiveness and reconciliation.
New Testament Survey - no.22: Paul - Letter to PhilemonClive Ashby
As part of the New Testament Survey Course, Session 22 provides an overview of the personal letter of the Apostle Paul to a fellow believer, Philemon. This is one of the prison letters of Paul, written from his imprisonment in Rome. Though a very short letter, its message on forgiveness, reconciliation and equality within the community of Christ is a very powerful message for our time. (Course taught at Harare Theological College - 2016).
This final message in the Hard Conversation series focuses on Paul's hard conversation with his friend Philemon, whom he challenges to "pay it forward" by showing grace and Christian brotherhood to his run-away slave, Onessimus. Paul prepares Philemon for this challenge and carefully makes the case for one of the most radical acts of forgiveness in the Bible.
Philippians 1:12-14 Magnifying Christ. John said Jesus must increase and he must decrease. Christians should be magnifying Christ and diminishing themselves. We do this by defending the gospel, preaching Christ, trusting Christ, living without shame, living for Christ, producing fruit, desiring to be with Him, Putting others needs first, fellowshipping fellow christians, working together with other christians.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…
