The document contains passages from Philippians 3 discussing Paul's view that knowing Christ is more important than legalistic righteousness or confidence in the flesh. He considers his previous accomplishments as rubbish compared to knowing Christ. Paul's goal is to know Christ through sharing in his sufferings and resurrection in order to attain resurrection from the dead. The document encourages focusing on relational intimacy with Christ over religious practices and removing hindrances to spiritual growth like old ways of thinking.
The church as "the temple of God" is called to be led by the Spirit, fed by God's Word, and offered up to God as a "living sacrifice" in daily service.
There are not many things as wondrous to receive, or difficult to give, as the gift of forgiveness. However, in Christ we are made clean, no longer condemned, at peace with God, and called to forgive.

When Jesus says, "I Am the Door" He is not excluding people. Jesus never turned anyone away who came to Him. He is excluding alternative ways for coming to God.

To truly calculate the cost, you must consider both the cost of action and the cost of inaction not only for the near term but in the long term. Jesus calls us to a decision. Choose wisely.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

1. Philippians 3:1-2
Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord! It is no
trouble for me to write the same things to you
again, and it is a safeguard for you. Watch out
for those dogs, those men who do evil, those
mutilators of the flesh.

2. Philippians 3:3-4
For it is we who are the circumcision, we who
worship by the Spirit of God, who glory in Christ
Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh—
though I myself have reasons for such
confidence. If anyone else thinks he has reasons
to put confidence in the flesh, I have more:

3. Philippians 3:5-7
circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of
Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of
Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee, as for
zeal, persecuting the church; as for legalistic
righteousness, faultless. But whatever was to my
profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.
www.networkbible.org
4. Philippians 3:8-9
What is more, I consider everything a loss
compared to the surpassing greatness of
knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for Whose sake I
have lost all things. I consider them rubbish,
that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not
having a righteousness of my own that comes
from the law, but that which is through faith in
Christ—the righteousness that comes from God
and is by faith.

5. Philippians 3:10-11
I want to know Christ and the power of His
resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in His
sufferings, becoming like Him in His death, and
so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from
the dead.

6. Does my life reveal a HUNGER to know Him more?
How frequently have we
settled for RELIGIOUS practice
over RELATIONAL intimacy.
7. Circumstances do not dictate whether or not we
can rejoice, our FOCUS does.
Rejoicing in the Lord is a SAFEGUARD for you.
The more we know Him the
easier it is to REJOICE
8. Not every enemy is easy to IDENTIFY
Old ways are often STUMBLING BLOCKS to new
pursuits.
Watch out for anything that
HINDERS you from knowing
Him.
9. Paul is not saying that other things don’t matter,
only that there is nothing that COMPARES.
How is your life REFLECTING a desire to know Him
better in 2017?
There is nothing more valuable
than KNOWING Christ.
