Viracocha, Quetzalcoatl, Enki, Vishnu and Oannes were mysterious god-men who appeared after great floods to teach civilization to humanity. Legends from many ancient cultures around the world describe beings who arrived by sea and initiated people in arts, agriculture and other skills. Viracocha was central to Inca creation myths, appearing as a tall white man who taught at Lake Titicaca before departing over water. Remnants of these figures like the Bennett Monolith at Tiwanaku depict half-human, half-fish beings connected to figures like Oannes who emerged from the sea to educate early humans.
