THE FEASTS OF THE LORD
SUKKOTH, THE
FEAST OF THE
LORD.

THE THREE HARVESTS
• Let’s remember the three harvest of Israel:
• The first harvest of barley, and the feast of
Passover.
• The second harvest of wheat, and the Feast of
Weeks or Pentecost.
• The third harvest of grapes, and the Feast of
Sukkoth.

LEVITICUS 23:33-36 (NKJV)
• Feast of Tabernacles
• 33 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
• 34 “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘The fifteenth
day of this seventh month shall be the Feast of
Tabernacles for seven days to the LORD. 35 On the first
day there shall be a holy convocation. You shall do no
customary work on it. 36 For seven days you shall offer
an offering made by fire to the LORD. On the eighth day
you shall have a holy convocation, and you shall offer
an offering made by fire to the LORD. It is a sacred
assembly, and you shall do no customary work on it.
LEVITICUS 23:37-38
(NKJV)
• 37 ‘These are the feasts of the LORD which you shall
proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering
made by fire to the LORD, a burnt offering and a grain
offering, a sacrifice and drink offerings, everything on
its day—38 besides the Sabbaths of the LORD, besides
your gifts, besides all your vows, and besides all your
freewill offerings which you give to the LORD.
LEVITICUS 23:39-40 (NKJV)
• 39 ‘Also on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when
you have gathered in the fruit of the land, you shall keep
the feast of the Lord for seven days; on the first
day there shall be a sabbath-rest, and on the eighth day a
sabbath-rest. 40 And you shall take for yourselves on the
first day the fruit of beautiful trees, branches of palm
trees, the boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the
brook; and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God
for seven days.
LEVITICUS 23:41-44 (NKJV)
• 41 You shall keep it as a feast to the LORD for seven
days in the year. It shall be a statute forever in your
generations. You shall celebrate it in the seventh
month. 42 You shall dwell in booths for seven days. All
who are native Israelites shall dwell in booths, 43 that
your generations may know that I made the children of
Israel dwell in booths when I brought them out of the
land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.’”
• 44 So Moses declared to the children of Israel the feasts
of the LORD.
END OF SUMMER
• The Feast of Tabernacles, known also as the Feast
of Booths, is celebrated on the fifteenth of Tishri
(September-October),
• This is the seventh month according to the Jewish
religious calendar.
• This is the third feast that was required to the
Israelites to go up to Jerusalem to worship in the
Temple and offer sacrifices and offering to the Lord.
• According to the Bible, the Tabernacle, also known
as the Tent of the Congregation, was the portable
earthly dwelling place of Yahweh.
• It was used by the Israelites from the time of
wondering in the desert until the conquest of
Canaan.
• Moses was instructed by Yahweh at Mount Sinai to
construct the tabernacle and to transport it with the
Israelites on their journey through the wilderness,
and later their conquest of the Promised Land.
• After 440 years, Solomon's Temple in Jerusalem
superseded it as the dwelling-place of God.
GOD TABERNACLED WITH THE
HEBREWS IN THE DESSERT ON
THEIR WAY TO THE PROMISED
LAND.
IT IS A TIME OF JOY AND
CELEBRATION
• This is Israel’s feast of Thanksgiving.
• It’s a thanksgiving for the Fall harvest and
God’s provision for them.
• It’s a happy celebration and a time of joy
and rejoicing.
REMEMBERING
• This feast remembers Israel’s deliverance from
Egypt and their subsequent wandering in the
wilderness for forty years.
• During this time Israel lived in tents and worshiped
at the Tabernacle which was also a tent.
• To remember this time the Jews build small
tabernacles or booths whit walls and roofs of tree
branches as God instructed in Leviticus 23:42.
BUILDING UP BOOTHS
BUILDING UP BOOTHS
SEVEN DAYS
• For seven days they were to live in these booths as a
vivid reminder of the days in the wilderness living in
tents.
• Further when they came to the Temple they would be
carrying an etrog, which was a citrus fruit, which
symbolized the fruit of the Promised Land.
• The Jews also used a lulav, which was made of the
branches of palm trees, myrtles and willows tied
together with a golden thread.
• During the celebration in the Temple these lulav would
be waved at certain times during the service.
ETROG
Leviticus 23:40
On the first day,
you must take
for yourself
a fruit of the
citron tree
ETROG (ET-ROHG)
•A citrus fruit grown in Israel and
other parts of the Mediterranean,
used to fulfill the commandment to
"rejoice before the Lord"
during Sukkoth.
ETROG
LULAV
• The Bible
mentions in
Leviticus the
commandment to
obtain a lulav for
the Sukkoth
holiday.
LULAV
LULAV (LOO-LAHV)
•Literally. palm branch.
•A collection of palm, myrtle and
willow branches, used to fulfill the
commandment to "rejoice before the
Lord" during Sukkoth.
BLESSING
S OF THE
FEAST
“Blessed are You, O Lord our
God, King of the universe,
who has sanctified us by His
commandments, and
instructed us concerning the
waving of the palm branch.”
Then the shehekeyanu is
said: “Blessed are You, O
Lord our God, King of the
universe, for keeping us in
life, for sustaining us, and for
helping us reach this day.”
TURNING THE ETROG
• The etrog is then turned right side up and
shaken with the lulav.
• Each day of the Feast of Tabernacles, the
people in the Temple courtyard would hold
their lulavs and make a circular procession
around the altar.
“PLEASE SAVE”
OR “SAVE NOW”
• During the procession they would pray a
prayer that came to be known as Hoshanos.
• It is a prayer for God’s blessing, ending
each phrase of the prayer with the word
hoshana (“Please save” or “save now!”).
• On the first six days they would march
around the altar one time.
• On the seventh day they marched around it
seven times.
• Traditionally, Psalm 27 is recited at the
service of the Feast of Tabernacles.
DEUTERONOMY 16:16-17
(NKJV)
• 16 “Three times a year all your males shall
appear before the LORD your God in the
place which He chooses: at the Feast of
Unleavened Bread, at the Feast of Weeks,
and at the Feast of Tabernacles; and they
shall not appear before the LORD empty-
handed. 17 Every man shall give as he is
able, according to the blessing of the
LORD your God which He has given you.
THE OFFERINGS
• According to God’s instructions on the first
day of the feast thirteen bullocks were
offered and each day that followed one less
bullock was offered which meant that all
together seventy were offered.
• Number 70 means complete accepted or
rejected. In this case is fully accepted
13 NUMBER OF CHANGE
THE SACRIFICE OF
SEVENTY BULLS
• During Sukkoth in the time of the Holy
Temple, a unique sacrifice was offered on
the altar - with a unique intention.
• In chapter 29 of the book of Numbers, the
Bible outlines the sacrifices that are to be
offered over the span of the holiday.
• Counting the number of bulls that are
offered over the seven day period, we find
that the total number was seventy.
THE NATIONS OF THE
WORLD
•In chapter 10 of the book of
Genesis, there are seventy nations
mentioned.
•These are the initial nations,
sometimes referred to as the
"seventy languages," which
represent all humanity.
ATONEMENT FOR THE
NATIONS
• The Talmud teaches that the seventy bulls
that were offered in the Holy Temple served
as atonement for the seventy nations of the
world.
• Truly, as the rabbis observed,
• “If the nations of the world had only known
how much they needed the Temple, they
would have surrounded it with armed
fortresses to protect it"
WORLD’S HOLIDAY
• Here we can already see that the nature of
this holiday is linked with all earths people.
• The sacrifices of this feast shows God’s
intention of bringing salvation through the
people who He calls His own.
• Sukkoth was mandated by the Creator
Himself to be a holiday for all the world.
SACRIFICES OF
SUKKOTH
CHARACTERISTIC OF
THE FEAST
• Two things characterized the Feast of
Tabernacle from the other feasts.
• One was the illumination of the Temple.
• The other was the pouring of a vessel of
water into a basin that was located at the
base of the altar.
THE ILLUMINATION
• A characteristic of the feast was a great
illumination of the Temple.
• The pilgrims who came to the Temple would
bring lights and torches.
• Further the golden lamps stands would also
be lighted illuminating the Temple.
LARGE
MENORAHS
During the Feast of
Tabernacles, large
menorahs 50 cubits tall
(73 feet or 22.25 meters)
illuminated the temple
courts.
The Feast of Tabernacles
provided the setting for
Jesus proclamation, “I am
the light of the world”
ILLUMINATION OF THE
TEMPLE
JOHN 8:12 (NKJV)
• 12 Then Jesus spoke to them again,
saying, “I am the light of the world. He who
follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but
have the light of life.”
• This too prophetically looked forward to the
coming of the Messiah. Jesus the Messiah
identified Himself as that saving light
ACTS 13:47 (NKJV)
• 47 For so the Lord has commanded us: 'I
have set you as a light to the Gentiles,
That you should be for salvation to the ends
of the earth.’”
• When Paul arrived in Antioch in Pisidia
(Asia) proclaimed this truth to the Jews
there saying, that he was sent to take this
light, which was the Gospel of Jesus Christ,
unto all the world.

THE POURING OF THE
WATER
THE PRIEST TAKES THE
WATER FROM SLOAM
FROM SLOAM,
UP TO THE TEMPLE
POURING FROM
THE TWO GOLDEN
VESSELS
• First the golden vessel of water was filled at
the pool of Sloam and taken to the altar.
• Next another golden vessel would be filled
with wine and they both would be poured
together into the basin.
• The mixed water and wine would flow down
a conduit which carried the water to the
Brook of Kidron located across from the
eastern wall.
• This ritual of water pouring was continued for six
days and concluded the Feast of Tabernacles.
• This last day was called the “Day of the Great
Hosanna” (Hoshannah Rabbah).
• The word “Hoshannah” means to “save now.” and
applied to the feast became “Hosanna” which
looked forward to the coming of the Messiah.
POOL OF SLOAM
Water taken from here to the altar.
THE GIHON RIVER:
• Emerged in a cave on the eastern slope of the City
of David above the Kidron Valley, and from there
water flowed into the valley.
• The Gihon watered the terraced, agricultural plots
on the slope of the City of David. This area is called
the “King’s Garden”
• Since the Gihon River flowed through the Kidron
Valley, we can safely determine that the brook
Kidron carried the waters of the Gihon River
THE CITY OF DAVID
EZEKIEL 47 (NKJV)
• The Healing Waters and Trees
• 47 Then he brought me back to the door of the
temple; and there was water, flowing from under the
threshold of the temple toward the east, for the
front of the temple faced east; the water was
flowing from under the right side of the temple,
south of the altar. 2 He brought me out by way of the
north gate, and led me around on the outside to the
outer gateway that faces east; and there was water,
running out on the right side.
ZECHARIAH 14:8 (NKJV)
• 8 And in that day it shall be
That living waters shall flow from
Jerusalem,
Half of them toward the eastern sea
And half of them toward the western sea;
In both summer and winter it shall occur.
NOWADAYS
• Even today the commandment of the feast
of booths, (sekhakh) is observed.
• Booths must be made of something that
grew from the ground and was cut off, such
as tree branches, corn stalks, bamboo
reeds, sticks, or two-by-fours and
constructed so it will not blow away in the
wind.
BOOTHS
LOOKING TO THE STARS
• The roof must be left loose, not tied together or tied
down.
• The material must be placed sparsely enough that
rain can get in, and preferably sparsely enough that
the stars can be seen, but not so sparsely that more
than ten inches is open at any point or that there is
more light than shade.
THE RAIN
• This ritual symbolized the prayer for the Fall
rains upon which Israel depended.
• Second, it pictured the coming of the
Messiah and His kingdom in which the Holy
Spirit would be poured on Israel and
believers of all nations.
FUTURE FULFILLMENT
• The feast of Sukkoth has a prophetic symbolism awaiting to
be fulfilled. Is “The day of Ingathering” of the harvest, it
points out to the ingathering of all the Jewish people during
the Reign of Jesus on the earth.
• All the nations that have survived the great tribulation will
come on Sukkoth to worship the Lord in Jerusalem.
• This feast also signals the covering of the Lord over Israel as
a tent or booth, during the Millennial Kingdom .
• At that time Israel will no longer suffer oppression of any
ungodly nation
HOSANNA
• This makes the event of Jesus entering the city in
what is called the ‘Triumphant Entry” come alive for
us as we understand its significance.
• John records in John 12:13 that as Jesus entered
Jerusalem the people.
• “ Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to
meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King
of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.”
• They were crying “Save us, Son of David.”
• Matthew 21:15 records the chief priest and
scribes became gravely upset because this
greeting and prayer was reserved only for
the coming of the Messiah.
• Messiah was in their midst!
• Mark records that the people also
cried
• “Blessed be the kingdom of our father
David, that cometh in the name of the
Lord: Hosanna in the highest.”
• (Mark 11:10).
JOHN 7:37-38 (NKJV)
• Following His entry into Jerusalem Jesus went to the
Temple and proclaimed
• 37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus
stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him
come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the
Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of
living water.”
• The words “In the last day” means that this event
occurred on the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles.
MEANING OF THE FEAST
• Jesus tabernacled amongst men.
• He is the Water of life.
• The Light of the world.
• Sukkoth also represents the Messianic
Kingdom.
• A time when Jesus our King will be among
us again.
THE FINAL
INGATHERING
• Sukkoth points out to:
• The Feast of the Ingathering of ALL
Nations, and that all who call upon him in
repentance would receive the living
waters of God’s spirit poured out upon
them, during the times portrayed by this
fall harvest Festival.
THE HARVEST OF
HUMANITY
•The main harvest of humanity
will have the living waters of
God’s Holy Spirit poured out
upon them, if they will repent and
come unto Christ the deliverer of
ALL mankind!
•
NATIONS WILL COME TO
WORSHIP
• During the Millennium Kingdom when
Christ will rule for a thousand years from
His throne in Jerusalem all the nations of
the earth will be commanded to come and
celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.
RAIN AND THE HOLY
SPIRIT
• Further it also pictures that God will not
pour out the Holy Spirit on those who refuse
His offer of salvation, who are invited to
come and receive freely His mercy and
grace.
• Bible prophecy tells us that people from the
nations of the world will come up to
celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles with the
Jewish people in Jerusalem.
ZECHARIAH 14:16-17
(NKJV)
• 16 And it shall come to pass that everyone who
is left of all the nations which came against
Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to
worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to
keep the Feast of Tabernacles. 17 And it shall
be that whichever of the families of the earth do
not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King,
the LORD of hosts, on them there will be no rain.
IF THEY REFUSE TO
COME…
• If they refuse to come, which means that
they are not trusting in the Lord for their
substance and living.
• Therefore the Lord will withhold rain from
their nation as punishment and the natural
result of refusing God’s provision.
•In this way, we have completed
the study of The Feasts of the
Lord.
•Next Wednesday we start the
Seminar “Transformed into a
Prophet of the Lord.”
• I pray that the Lord may give you revelation of the
prophecies that we have study through this series of Feast of
the Lord.
• I pray that He give you love for Israel and deep appreciation
for His people.
• And I pray that you may learn to appreciate what this feast
are representing for us.
• Remember, these are Feasts that The Lord Himself
commanded to be celebrated.
• In Jesus name, Amen.

The Feast of Tabernacles

  • 1. THE FEASTS OF THE LORD
  • 2. SUKKOTH, THE FEAST OF THE LORD. Learning to Prophesy Marco Lafebre
  • 3.
  • 4. THE THREE HARVESTS • Let’s remember the three harvest of Israel: • The first harvest of barley, and the feast of Passover. • The second harvest of wheat, and the Feast of Weeks or Pentecost. • The third harvest of grapes, and the Feast of Sukkoth.
  • 9. LEVITICUS 23:33-36 (NKJV) • Feast of Tabernacles • 33 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, • 34 “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days to the LORD. 35 On the first day there shall be a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work on it. 36 For seven days you shall offer an offering made by fire to the LORD. On the eighth day you shall have a holy convocation, and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the LORD. It is a sacred assembly, and you shall do no customary work on it.
  • 10. LEVITICUS 23:37-38 (NKJV) • 37 ‘These are the feasts of the LORD which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire to the LORD, a burnt offering and a grain offering, a sacrifice and drink offerings, everything on its day—38 besides the Sabbaths of the LORD, besides your gifts, besides all your vows, and besides all your freewill offerings which you give to the LORD.
  • 11. LEVITICUS 23:39-40 (NKJV) • 39 ‘Also on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the fruit of the land, you shall keep the feast of the Lord for seven days; on the first day there shall be a sabbath-rest, and on the eighth day a sabbath-rest. 40 And you shall take for yourselves on the first day the fruit of beautiful trees, branches of palm trees, the boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook; and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God for seven days.
  • 12. LEVITICUS 23:41-44 (NKJV) • 41 You shall keep it as a feast to the LORD for seven days in the year. It shall be a statute forever in your generations. You shall celebrate it in the seventh month. 42 You shall dwell in booths for seven days. All who are native Israelites shall dwell in booths, 43 that your generations may know that I made the children of Israel dwell in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.’” • 44 So Moses declared to the children of Israel the feasts of the LORD.
  • 13. END OF SUMMER • The Feast of Tabernacles, known also as the Feast of Booths, is celebrated on the fifteenth of Tishri (September-October), • This is the seventh month according to the Jewish religious calendar. • This is the third feast that was required to the Israelites to go up to Jerusalem to worship in the Temple and offer sacrifices and offering to the Lord.
  • 14. • According to the Bible, the Tabernacle, also known as the Tent of the Congregation, was the portable earthly dwelling place of Yahweh. • It was used by the Israelites from the time of wondering in the desert until the conquest of Canaan. • Moses was instructed by Yahweh at Mount Sinai to construct the tabernacle and to transport it with the Israelites on their journey through the wilderness, and later their conquest of the Promised Land. • After 440 years, Solomon's Temple in Jerusalem superseded it as the dwelling-place of God.
  • 15. GOD TABERNACLED WITH THE HEBREWS IN THE DESSERT ON THEIR WAY TO THE PROMISED LAND.
  • 16. IT IS A TIME OF JOY AND CELEBRATION • This is Israel’s feast of Thanksgiving. • It’s a thanksgiving for the Fall harvest and God’s provision for them. • It’s a happy celebration and a time of joy and rejoicing.
  • 17. REMEMBERING • This feast remembers Israel’s deliverance from Egypt and their subsequent wandering in the wilderness for forty years. • During this time Israel lived in tents and worshiped at the Tabernacle which was also a tent. • To remember this time the Jews build small tabernacles or booths whit walls and roofs of tree branches as God instructed in Leviticus 23:42.
  • 20. SEVEN DAYS • For seven days they were to live in these booths as a vivid reminder of the days in the wilderness living in tents. • Further when they came to the Temple they would be carrying an etrog, which was a citrus fruit, which symbolized the fruit of the Promised Land. • The Jews also used a lulav, which was made of the branches of palm trees, myrtles and willows tied together with a golden thread. • During the celebration in the Temple these lulav would be waved at certain times during the service.
  • 21. ETROG Leviticus 23:40 On the first day, you must take for yourself a fruit of the citron tree
  • 22. ETROG (ET-ROHG) •A citrus fruit grown in Israel and other parts of the Mediterranean, used to fulfill the commandment to "rejoice before the Lord" during Sukkoth.
  • 23. ETROG
  • 24. LULAV • The Bible mentions in Leviticus the commandment to obtain a lulav for the Sukkoth holiday.
  • 25. LULAV
  • 26. LULAV (LOO-LAHV) •Literally. palm branch. •A collection of palm, myrtle and willow branches, used to fulfill the commandment to "rejoice before the Lord" during Sukkoth.
  • 27. BLESSING S OF THE FEAST “Blessed are You, O Lord our God, King of the universe, who has sanctified us by His commandments, and instructed us concerning the waving of the palm branch.” Then the shehekeyanu is said: “Blessed are You, O Lord our God, King of the universe, for keeping us in life, for sustaining us, and for helping us reach this day.”
  • 28. TURNING THE ETROG • The etrog is then turned right side up and shaken with the lulav. • Each day of the Feast of Tabernacles, the people in the Temple courtyard would hold their lulavs and make a circular procession around the altar.
  • 29. “PLEASE SAVE” OR “SAVE NOW” • During the procession they would pray a prayer that came to be known as Hoshanos. • It is a prayer for God’s blessing, ending each phrase of the prayer with the word hoshana (“Please save” or “save now!”).
  • 30. • On the first six days they would march around the altar one time. • On the seventh day they marched around it seven times. • Traditionally, Psalm 27 is recited at the service of the Feast of Tabernacles.
  • 31. DEUTERONOMY 16:16-17 (NKJV) • 16 “Three times a year all your males shall appear before the LORD your God in the place which He chooses: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, at the Feast of Weeks, and at the Feast of Tabernacles; and they shall not appear before the LORD empty- handed. 17 Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD your God which He has given you.
  • 32.
  • 33. THE OFFERINGS • According to God’s instructions on the first day of the feast thirteen bullocks were offered and each day that followed one less bullock was offered which meant that all together seventy were offered. • Number 70 means complete accepted or rejected. In this case is fully accepted
  • 34. 13 NUMBER OF CHANGE
  • 35. THE SACRIFICE OF SEVENTY BULLS • During Sukkoth in the time of the Holy Temple, a unique sacrifice was offered on the altar - with a unique intention. • In chapter 29 of the book of Numbers, the Bible outlines the sacrifices that are to be offered over the span of the holiday. • Counting the number of bulls that are offered over the seven day period, we find that the total number was seventy.
  • 36. THE NATIONS OF THE WORLD •In chapter 10 of the book of Genesis, there are seventy nations mentioned. •These are the initial nations, sometimes referred to as the "seventy languages," which represent all humanity.
  • 37. ATONEMENT FOR THE NATIONS • The Talmud teaches that the seventy bulls that were offered in the Holy Temple served as atonement for the seventy nations of the world. • Truly, as the rabbis observed, • “If the nations of the world had only known how much they needed the Temple, they would have surrounded it with armed fortresses to protect it"
  • 38. WORLD’S HOLIDAY • Here we can already see that the nature of this holiday is linked with all earths people. • The sacrifices of this feast shows God’s intention of bringing salvation through the people who He calls His own. • Sukkoth was mandated by the Creator Himself to be a holiday for all the world.
  • 40. CHARACTERISTIC OF THE FEAST • Two things characterized the Feast of Tabernacle from the other feasts. • One was the illumination of the Temple. • The other was the pouring of a vessel of water into a basin that was located at the base of the altar.
  • 41. THE ILLUMINATION • A characteristic of the feast was a great illumination of the Temple. • The pilgrims who came to the Temple would bring lights and torches. • Further the golden lamps stands would also be lighted illuminating the Temple.
  • 42. LARGE MENORAHS During the Feast of Tabernacles, large menorahs 50 cubits tall (73 feet or 22.25 meters) illuminated the temple courts. The Feast of Tabernacles provided the setting for Jesus proclamation, “I am the light of the world”
  • 44. JOHN 8:12 (NKJV) • 12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” • This too prophetically looked forward to the coming of the Messiah. Jesus the Messiah identified Himself as that saving light
  • 45. ACTS 13:47 (NKJV) • 47 For so the Lord has commanded us: 'I have set you as a light to the Gentiles, That you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.’” • When Paul arrived in Antioch in Pisidia (Asia) proclaimed this truth to the Jews there saying, that he was sent to take this light, which was the Gospel of Jesus Christ, unto all the world.
  • 46. LIGHT OF THE WORLD
  • 47. HIS LIGHT GUIDE US IN OUR DAILY WALKING
  • 48. THE DAY PROCLAIMS THE LIGHT OF OUR GOD
  • 50. GOD TABERNACLED WITH HIS PEOPLE ISRAEL
  • 51. THE POURING OF THE WATER
  • 52. THE PRIEST TAKES THE WATER FROM SLOAM
  • 53. FROM SLOAM, UP TO THE TEMPLE
  • 54. POURING FROM THE TWO GOLDEN VESSELS • First the golden vessel of water was filled at the pool of Sloam and taken to the altar. • Next another golden vessel would be filled with wine and they both would be poured together into the basin. • The mixed water and wine would flow down a conduit which carried the water to the Brook of Kidron located across from the eastern wall.
  • 55.
  • 56. • This ritual of water pouring was continued for six days and concluded the Feast of Tabernacles. • This last day was called the “Day of the Great Hosanna” (Hoshannah Rabbah). • The word “Hoshannah” means to “save now.” and applied to the feast became “Hosanna” which looked forward to the coming of the Messiah.
  • 57. POOL OF SLOAM Water taken from here to the altar.
  • 58. THE GIHON RIVER: • Emerged in a cave on the eastern slope of the City of David above the Kidron Valley, and from there water flowed into the valley. • The Gihon watered the terraced, agricultural plots on the slope of the City of David. This area is called the “King’s Garden” • Since the Gihon River flowed through the Kidron Valley, we can safely determine that the brook Kidron carried the waters of the Gihon River
  • 59. THE CITY OF DAVID
  • 60.
  • 61. EZEKIEL 47 (NKJV) • The Healing Waters and Trees • 47 Then he brought me back to the door of the temple; and there was water, flowing from under the threshold of the temple toward the east, for the front of the temple faced east; the water was flowing from under the right side of the temple, south of the altar. 2 He brought me out by way of the north gate, and led me around on the outside to the outer gateway that faces east; and there was water, running out on the right side.
  • 62. ZECHARIAH 14:8 (NKJV) • 8 And in that day it shall be That living waters shall flow from Jerusalem, Half of them toward the eastern sea And half of them toward the western sea; In both summer and winter it shall occur.
  • 63. NOWADAYS • Even today the commandment of the feast of booths, (sekhakh) is observed. • Booths must be made of something that grew from the ground and was cut off, such as tree branches, corn stalks, bamboo reeds, sticks, or two-by-fours and constructed so it will not blow away in the wind.
  • 65. LOOKING TO THE STARS • The roof must be left loose, not tied together or tied down. • The material must be placed sparsely enough that rain can get in, and preferably sparsely enough that the stars can be seen, but not so sparsely that more than ten inches is open at any point or that there is more light than shade.
  • 66. THE RAIN • This ritual symbolized the prayer for the Fall rains upon which Israel depended. • Second, it pictured the coming of the Messiah and His kingdom in which the Holy Spirit would be poured on Israel and believers of all nations.
  • 67. FUTURE FULFILLMENT • The feast of Sukkoth has a prophetic symbolism awaiting to be fulfilled. Is “The day of Ingathering” of the harvest, it points out to the ingathering of all the Jewish people during the Reign of Jesus on the earth. • All the nations that have survived the great tribulation will come on Sukkoth to worship the Lord in Jerusalem. • This feast also signals the covering of the Lord over Israel as a tent or booth, during the Millennial Kingdom . • At that time Israel will no longer suffer oppression of any ungodly nation
  • 68. HOSANNA • This makes the event of Jesus entering the city in what is called the ‘Triumphant Entry” come alive for us as we understand its significance. • John records in John 12:13 that as Jesus entered Jerusalem the people. • “ Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.”
  • 69. • They were crying “Save us, Son of David.” • Matthew 21:15 records the chief priest and scribes became gravely upset because this greeting and prayer was reserved only for the coming of the Messiah. • Messiah was in their midst!
  • 70. • Mark records that the people also cried • “Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.” • (Mark 11:10).
  • 71. JOHN 7:37-38 (NKJV) • Following His entry into Jerusalem Jesus went to the Temple and proclaimed • 37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” • The words “In the last day” means that this event occurred on the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles.
  • 72. MEANING OF THE FEAST • Jesus tabernacled amongst men. • He is the Water of life. • The Light of the world. • Sukkoth also represents the Messianic Kingdom. • A time when Jesus our King will be among us again.
  • 73. THE FINAL INGATHERING • Sukkoth points out to: • The Feast of the Ingathering of ALL Nations, and that all who call upon him in repentance would receive the living waters of God’s spirit poured out upon them, during the times portrayed by this fall harvest Festival.
  • 74. THE HARVEST OF HUMANITY •The main harvest of humanity will have the living waters of God’s Holy Spirit poured out upon them, if they will repent and come unto Christ the deliverer of ALL mankind! •
  • 75. NATIONS WILL COME TO WORSHIP • During the Millennium Kingdom when Christ will rule for a thousand years from His throne in Jerusalem all the nations of the earth will be commanded to come and celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.
  • 76. RAIN AND THE HOLY SPIRIT • Further it also pictures that God will not pour out the Holy Spirit on those who refuse His offer of salvation, who are invited to come and receive freely His mercy and grace. • Bible prophecy tells us that people from the nations of the world will come up to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles with the Jewish people in Jerusalem.
  • 77. ZECHARIAH 14:16-17 (NKJV) • 16 And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. 17 And it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, on them there will be no rain.
  • 78. IF THEY REFUSE TO COME… • If they refuse to come, which means that they are not trusting in the Lord for their substance and living. • Therefore the Lord will withhold rain from their nation as punishment and the natural result of refusing God’s provision.
  • 79. •In this way, we have completed the study of The Feasts of the Lord. •Next Wednesday we start the Seminar “Transformed into a Prophet of the Lord.”
  • 80. • I pray that the Lord may give you revelation of the prophecies that we have study through this series of Feast of the Lord. • I pray that He give you love for Israel and deep appreciation for His people. • And I pray that you may learn to appreciate what this feast are representing for us. • Remember, these are Feasts that The Lord Himself commanded to be celebrated. • In Jesus name, Amen.
